Overall, it helped us get out of using Endicia Professional, which was a software that allows users to ship USPS. However, that software constantly had bugs and broke down. PirateShip is completely online based, so there is no software management or maintenance.
Pros: We found it to be a strong alternative to Endicia Professional, which was difficult to use. PirateShip is useful especially when it comes to properly generating and shipping international orders. The value is great, because it is virtually free to use. The label printing works like any web browser printing, where you can simply direct it to a locally or network installed label printer.
Cons: So far, they have yet to allow us to set up ACH deposit with our bank. Though they do offer some bank integrations, we are still waiting for our specific bank. This means we are forced to use credit card charges, which makes expense reporting more difficult.

Pirate ship is an easy-to-use platform that provides security for its users and their customers' personal info. With easy-to-use label printing and a short learning curve. Its ideal for a small business.
Pros: I like the flexibility that Pirate Ship offers for small business management. You can see rates in real time, which provides you with the option of being able to optimize your business. With the rates given, it provides great value for money on a streamlined, platfrom free from bugs and issues.

Cons: Pirate ship is great for a small business, but it does not provide the tools for e-commerce and major Batch/Bulk shipping.

Overall my experience with Pirate Ship has been great with it always being a reliable way to ship products in a timely manner.
Pros: What I absolutely love about Pirate ship is that is so affordable even more so then your local post office.
Cons: What I like least about Pirate Ship is that there aren't more ways to ship. I would like more affordable ways then the normal post office and ups.

Overall, they are a smooth efficient organization saving me a ton of money instead of paying a monthly fee like all the rest.
Pros: Definitely value for your money. They are up to date with all the changes. I have never had any issues with Pirate Ship. Great for small or large business. Security is one of their utmost issues that they always take care of. Any problems with the internet they are on it right away in regards to bugs and issues. Whatever problems I have had any issues were solved fast and easy. I have been on for a number of years so far and they are the best. Easily able to get my orders from etsy on their site.
Cons: I have never had any problems with the operation of Pirate Ship. They have never given me any reason to complain and when I did have a problem I found out a simple fix I forgot to do on my web browser. (cleaning the history)

On October 3, 2025, I paid Pirate Ship for international shipping of a package containing two custom hair systems worth $438. The shipment was accepted and processed. Import duties were paid. The parcel was never delivered and never returned. I contacted the carrier. The carrier refused to compensate the loss. I then contacted Pirate Ship. Their position was simple: “We are not responsible. Here is a refund for the label only.” In practice, Pirate Ship acts as a middle layer that gives you cheaper labels but zero real protection. When a shipment disappears, you are left alone between the carrier and Pirate Ship, with neither side taking responsibility. You lose both the item and the money. If you ship anything of real value, this service is a risk multiplier. The savings on the label are meaningless compared to losing the entire contents with no compensation. After this experience, I would strongly advise using carriers directly or services that provide real accountability and insurance.
Pros: Lost shipment, zero accountability — $438 gone/ The interface is simple and the rates look attractive at first. Creating a label is fast and convenient.
Cons: When something goes wrong, Pirate Ship takes no responsibility at all. My international shipment was accepted, duties were paid, and then the parcel was lost. The carrier refused compensation. Pirate Ship’s response was to deny any responsibility and refund only the label — not the value of the lost contents. There is no real protection for the sender.

Pros: There are a myriad of shipping options, all available at the lowest prices without having to shop around or visit different vendors.
Cons: Some of the shipping options are hidden or less intuitive to find. It took me a while to find how to ship using Media Mail with USPS.

Overall, my experience with Pirate Ship has been pretty good and is a valuable alternative to having to go to a retail store to pay for shipping.
Pros: Pirate Ship is a great service for sending out my packages at a reasonable rate compared to paying retail.
Cons: The shipping rate can be cheaper but I understand it can be only negotiated so much that would make everyone happy.

This service is everything it needs to be and at the highest quality. It's fantastically simple to use, sources incredible rates, and the customer service is phenomenal. I don't even mind having to chat with support to remove authorized users on the account because it's just plain fun. I don't know if they use a filter to convert what the support reps say to pirate speak or if they are having fun and doing it on their own but it adds some whimsy to an otherwise dry task of shipping and logistics.
Pros: Super simple to use, great customer service, very competitive rates, and adds whimsy to an otherwise very boring task.
Cons: Some functionality for teams is not built out yet (like removing authorized users) but their support is so fast that it's not really an issue. Plus all the messages you get from support are in pirate-speak which is hilarious.

We had to return a very large furniture shipment that was going to cost over a thousand dollars if shipped via another carrier. Pirate Ship had great rates and worked with us on both the shipment and pickup with UPS. They even followed up when we had a problem with the pickup to make sure everything was resolved. Highly recommend.
Pros: Great rates and communication, if you have to contact customer service. You get real tracking numbers via UPS.
Cons: The website can be hard to navigate, as far as finding your receipts, but they also email them to you. Did not like that I had to print and buy multiple labels separately (but that may have been user error).

When I started my business, I expected the shipping/label purchasing process to be complex and overwhelming, but Pirate Ship somehow ended up making it fun.
Pros: Other than it's fun vibe, Pirate Ship is my go-to for shipping labels because the prices are better than anywhere else I've found.
Cons: Maybe they already offer this and I'm just missing it, but I would like to be able to just enter the zip code or city and state to see the label prices, instead of having to enter the entire address.

Pirate ship has gotten me the cheapest rates I could get with UPS. Even cheaper than my own account.
Pros: The cheapest rates I could find out of any shipping software.
Cons: It took a while for my eBay orders to sync.

As a small business owner I've used pirate ship to ship my products across the USA. It's affordable, reliable, easy to use, and they make the claim process so easy if something is broken or lost in transit.
Pros: Pirate ship is simple and easy to use. The shipping rates are great and it doesn't have any complicated interface.
Cons: Doesn't integrate with web hosting platforms.

Absolutely great. I genuinely think Pirate Ship is a great site for small businesses or even someone just wanting to save money when they send a package to friends or family.
Pros: The ease of getting a label for less money than what the USPS sells them for.
Cons: The site can be a little confusing especially to a first time user.
Rachel H. · Founder · Retail · February 4, 2025
Pros: Great way to save money and keep track of shipments
Cons: Better for small teams or individuals. I have found it hard to implement for company or larger team use.

Very good, I’m happy with my experience and I will continue to use it
Pros: I like the discounted offers and the ease
Cons: I would love to have the option for a QR code that the post office can scan to print the label because some of us don’t have printers
Abby J. · Seller · Apparel & Fashion · October 28, 2024
We often ship to multiple locations and it is very easy to upload a spreadsheet and the labels print very fast.
Pros: It is easy to ship several packages at once.
Cons: No Cons whatsoever, really love this app!

My experience with Pirate Ship has been the least hassle that I have encountered with any shipping service and it is my go-to.
Pros: Accessibility, price and functionality are top tier.
Cons: Nothing negatively affected me in Pirate Ship, it is a seamless process from start to finish.
Ben S. · Pre-Fabrication Technician · Consumer Services · October 17, 2024
Overall, Pirate Ship saves me countless hours and the convenience is absolutely worth it.
Pros: I like the simplicity of the site and the convenience to print postage at home.
Cons: I don't like waiting 30 days for the refunds but I understand why that is necessary.
Nicole S. · Owner · Arts and Crafts · September 16, 2024
Overall I like how quick it is to set and use immediately.
Pros: I like how PirateShip is no nonsense, simple to set up and use right away.
Cons: I was hoping for lower shipping prices however, the prices are very competitive.

I only wish I had started using Pirate Ship sooner! Such a SUPER simple and straightforward process, with options for both UPS and USPS. I truly love Pirate Ship and always talk to other small business owners about it!
Pros: Pirate Ship is SO straightforward & easy to use! I love that this part of the process is just as simple as can be.
Cons: There isn't really anything at all that I don't like about Pirate Ship.
Ann E. · Owner · Arts and Crafts · August 7, 2024
I love using it. Super easy and affordable
Pros: Pricing has been the best and if you make a mistake on a label and overweight they will credit you. I havent seen any other service give you money back if you add too much postage beside their service.
Cons: There are no cons that i can even think of.
Sarah F. · Owner · Apparel & Fashion · June 19, 2024
Pros: My favorite aspects of Pirate Ship are that they save customer names and information to automatically populate the information when shipping to the same company or person again, they provide shipping prices from the 3 big shipping companies (UPS, USPS, and Fedex) and the different levels of shipping speed, and when a mistake is made on a label it is super easy to refund that label.
Cons: The only thing that is slightly annoying about Pirate Ship is that sometimes you can accidentally auto-populate the wrong shipping information, but that is easily handled with their efficient label refund process!

It’s great to use for a new small business but there’s a point where we outgrew it.
Pros: Easy to navigate their platform, especially for someone who’s not tech-savvy.
Cons: Pricing could be better. I ended up seeking a platform with cheaper shipping options.

I have been using Pirate ship for several years now. This is one of the easiest site to use to ship packages out. It is very helpful and useful.
Pros: Pirate ship is user-friendly, easy to use, and straightforward. Fill-in addresses when creating shipping labels. I like that the site offers different cheap alternatives of shipping. They also have an easy tracking system.
Cons: I do not have any cons for the Pirate Ship website.
