It's still my favourite app to use for desktop publishing and any work that requires typography. It's my first choice.
Pros: It's the most logical app for professional desktop publishing. It's very clear and easy to use. I feel I have total control over typography.
Cons: I don't like the tiny buttons in the measurements panel. I preferred it when there were quick keys for almost everything.

Pros: Quark Xpress is a fully comprehensive piece of software used by industry professionals. It offers good value for businesses and has great customer service if you need any king of help.
Cons: Learning the new features after an update can take time but tutorials are available online. There’s always something new to learn!
Hannah Y. · Director · Music · January 9, 2026
I’ve been using it for many years and haven’t been trained on how to utilize its many features. Quark has advanced into much more complexity than I use, but I’m happy that I can still navigate the program to use it for my projects.
Pros: I’m happy with the design tools and desktop layout. I especially appreciate the personalized customer support.
Cons: I would like to see more designer and calligraphic fonts. I use it for invitations and I’m wanting more unique script fonts.

I have been with Quark Express since I guess it was version 4 or 5. I like the software. It is easy to manage.
Pros: Graphic Creation. Ease of saving as a PDF or JPEG/PNG files. Simplicity of the features. Nothing that complicated to learn.
Cons: It keeps "Not responding." Especially when selecting fonts. Then it takes a long time if you wait. I have to close Quark and reopen again to make sure it resets.

Very good, I'll never change using this, it's easy, great for all type of graphic design and the added picture features makes it a whole lot more.
Pros: I have used Quark Xpress since the beginning it's just got better and better, some of the new features picture editing, font changes etc.. make my job a lot easier. It's easy to use, good value for money and customer service is excellent, if I've ever had a problem it's been solved quickly - in an easy and friendly manner.
Cons: The colour dropper I cannot use, I'm probably doing it wrong and have never asked how to do it correctly but definitely baffles me.

Have been a longstanding user of QuarkXPress over its many iterations. Very loyal to Quark as a result.
Pros: How I could personalize the message through graphic creation and image editing. Also love the various features offered.
Cons: Am a tried and true user. Have used Quark for years. Don't have any cons to share. Welcome new features with each updated release.

I have always found Quark Express intuitive to work with plus great "personal" customer service available if needed.
Pros: Quark Express has always been the standard design software in my view and always has been, it really works well for designers that want to think for themselves rather than being lead by increasing AI tech.
Cons: The save button being to close to the don't save button as with one slight misjudgement all can go wrong embarrassingly quickly!
Ian G. · Managing Director · Entertainment · December 24, 2025
Have happily used it for long years. My works requires that I also have the Adobe package, but I'm always defaulting to Quark when I don't have to use the other.
Pros: Works smoothly creating multi-page documents with lots of text, images. Very intuitive. Always quick and easy to set material up and make changes. Much happier cropping images in this program.
Cons: Not a fan of the subscription service. I never found a need to upgrade constantly and would prefer to use it as is for at least a couple years

I have used QuarkXPress since the early 90's and have seen it's services grow and change. I am a print and online publisher and appreciate the versatility it has for doing what I need to and for verifying image formats such as CMYK, font status and more.
Pros: Quark lets me do the work I need to do in fewer steps with less difficulties than Indesign. It lets me work with legacy fonts more easily than some other programs and ability to quickly and easily format text and move images to fit spaces is easy to do. The working palate selection lets me do these things more easily and with fewer clicks between palates compared to some other programs.
Cons: I liked having the option to buy it in the old days as compared to the subscription method. I have the need to interface with some legacy systems that my customers are still using and having the old ones you bought meant you weren't looking at the updates. We really could use a properly functioning document converter that would allow us to work with versions as far back as Quark 6 and or older versions of indesign. Then you'd know you could get things open. The current document converter just doesn't work.

I have been using QuarkXPress as part of my job for over 20 years, and it is very easy to use and pretty much self explanatory.
Pros: I like to be able to create any flyer I would like. With the fonts it is easy using QuarkXPress is easy.
Cons: There is nothing that I can currently think of to write that is my least favorite feature in QuarkXPress.

Sehr gute Performance.
Wolfgang K. · Typografiker · Design · December 17, 2025
Overall solid and dependable, particularly for print publishing and editorial layouts. good tool that rewards time invested in learning it, even if it doesn’t feel as streamlined or trendy as newer alternatives. For traditional publishing environments, it holds its own
Pros: powerful for long-form, print-focused layouts, especially when working with complex typograhy and precise page control. I really appreciated its stability with large files and the depth of professional publishing tools that feel tailored for experienced designers. Once youre comfortable with it, it’s very efficient for high-volume production work
Cons: pretty steep learning curve, especially if you’re coming from more modern or intuitive design tools. Some pats of the interface feel a little dated, and certain workflows take more steps than they probably should. Collaboration features also lag behind what many cloud-based competitors now offer.

Have been using Quark since the early 1990s from Quark 3.11 era to now. Also use InDesign for specific jobs that need an Interactive PDF, but Quark is the GoTo for most of my Print work on a daily basis. Picture and Text placement is just faster and I prefer the Box system over Indesign's free placement. It's just fabulous, does absolutely everything I need from it, is super stable in MacOS 26.2 Tahoe on Mac Studio M1 Ultra, and it'll be my preferred choice 'til I die.
Pros: Fantastic placing and cropping of boxed images, far faster and better than InDesign, not to mention Picture Usage / Font Usage menu which has always been better. Also like the Quick Access bar which is a throwback to Quark 3.31 era in the late 1990s with Quark Xpert Tools plug-ins. The expansion of the Picture Content Shapes is now so easy. Typography and Picture Usage I still prefer over InDesign (and I use both daily). Being able to convert a Quark file to an IDML Indesign template is fantastic, as is making native Quark objects from an imported PDF or graphic image.
Cons: Bezier Pen Tool has never been as good or as intuitive as Adobe's Pen Tool. Adobe's export and usage of PDF is far superior to Quark's. The Subscription model I wasn't happy with, and think it's too expensive compared to buying outright and keeping a version for years. Not so happy about their Customer Support though, especially with Flaky Font Auto-Activation. They washed their hands of the problem with Quark 2025, were unhelpful and had no solutions but go back to RightFont who were brilliant. Looks like the old 1990s arrogance is back unfortunately when "the family" owned Quark.

I have used Quark for almost 30 years and Quark is essential to my work, from correspondence (word documents) to graphic designs.
Pros: It is an intiutive program, easy to manipulate type and edit images according to the designs I envision
Cons: Sometimes I can't save a document - the alert says I do not have permission, so I just change the name of the document. Quark support has helped me anytime I had an issue

As a cork express user of over 30 years, it is an easy to use program. As a quark express user of over 30 years, it is an easy to use program. I enjoy all the updates.
Pros: I enjoy its Ease of use, I have been a quark xpress user for long time, over 30 years. Like that it works with current iOS
Cons: I work at home and have two computers, one that I travel with. I wish that I could use them both without having to sign out of the other one before I do. So that is what I would say I like lease about quark xpress.
Sandra B. · Owner · Design · December 15, 2025
A positive experience and we as a business have chosen to stay with Quark when offered the option to use InDesign instead.
Pros: The staff enjoy how easy it is to use. Every upgrade has been worthwhile and we're pleased with the program.
Cons: Clipping paths and background transparency could be more advanced. Every man and his dog can drop out a background now and it would be good to integrate that into image placement.
Patsy D. · Office Manager · Media Production · December 15, 2025
The photo-editing features, pagination and layout choices are exceptionally convenient. I do a weekly organizational newsletter than, thanks to its intuitive nature, I can complete -- photos, layout, text and all -- in an hour or two vs. most of a whole day.
Pros: Quark Xpress has been my go-to DTP program since the original version, and it just keeps getting better and better.
Cons: No beefs! Quark features eliminate the annoyance of other options, including refinements to standard layout templates and style sheets.

My overall experience with QuarkXPress has been very positive. I've used Quark for over 20+ years and it has always been very consistent.
Pros: I love using QuarkXPress, it never fails me; it is very easy to use and very consistent. I love it.
Cons: Nothing. I have no cons to list about QuarkXPress. I have used it for over 20 years and it remains consistent.
Margo R. · Sr Graphic Designer · Design · December 15, 2025
I've had no major problems with Quark in years, and quite good customer support options--both of major importance.
Pros: Gives me excellent control--MUCH finer control over typography than InDesign. Still has option for permanent license, which is extremely important for any freelancer. And has very good customer support--again, a stark contrast with Adobe.
Cons: The price is on the high side, considering the price of stand-alone InDesign (which does come with access to a free font library, which Quark does not).
Rachel R. · Book design and layout · Publishing · December 15, 2025
I've been using it for over 35 years. It's my go to layout program. I know others have switched to InDesign to only come back to Quark. I feel that my skills have grown with the program. I've been working in publishing since 1985.
Pros: I've been using Quark for all of my 35+ years professional life. Each version keeps getting better and better. Love all of the updates and new useful tools.
Cons: At times the program takes too long to open. Not enough text box or picture shapes. Would also like it easier to curve text and manipulate text in non straight lines.
Dorian C. · Marketing Consultant · Publishing · December 15, 2025
Quark XPress software is easy to use, intuitive, and versatile. It has been my go-to program for decades.
Pros: Quark XPress offers everything I want in a design program at a reasonable cost. It has excellent and sophisticated typographic and design capabilities.
Cons: I cannot think of anything I don't like about QuarkXPress. It does everything I need to create effective and compelling layouts.
Jean L. · President · Graphic Design · December 15, 2025
It was very easy for me to start designing on a computer, having never used a computer prior to 1989. I purchased a new Mac then along with Quark, and Adobe. Just could not work on Adobe, Quark was intuitive and easier to learn.
Pros: Easy to learn and very intuitive. As Art Director in 1989, I was forced to with from a drawing board to CAD. I purchased Quark, Photoshop and Adobe. I tried the all and being a beginner, Quark was the only program I could easily use, and have used it since 1989.
Cons: Not easy to adjust to updates...still can't access library in latest update. can you help me find it?
Robert H. · Art Director, Designer · Graphic Design · December 15, 2025
Overall, I like working in QuarkXPress. II've been using it for about 20 years now. Tt works well with bringing in images and creating magazine layouts. My only issue has always been with using font programs that never seem to work smoothly with QuarkXPress.
Pros: I've used QuarkXPress for years and am comfortable with it, especially when there are upgrades. I've been creating magazine layouts for over twenty years and find this program to be well suited for that.
Cons: Working in QuarkXPress I've always found there to be issues with font programs and QuarkXpress. There seems to be a lack of compatibility .
