Overall,New Relic is easy to use straight off the bat, it can be easily integrated with other solutions and has easy to setup thresholds to provide alerting to the relevant people and teams.
Pros: New Relic is great for quickly seeing trends and changes across databases and applications. It is easy to identify problems with performance or load and quickly get to the root cause or at least a step in the right direction to help solve your problem with your infrastructure. It can also be customised to pull in the relevant information.
Cons: We did not find many drawbacks with New Relic aside from the cost which is a little high, it does exactly what it says in and a straightforward way while allowing for customisation.

Overall its a value and makes monitoring much easier with a wide variaty of options and metrics. I have it connected to Ops Genie as well for a full solution
Pros: Its very comprehensive with many options and senarios available for monitoring performance and speed.
Cons: Some of the monitoring options are hard to setup. Some options have a higher learning curve and require more intergration into your application.

Pros: Very easy to setup and get installed, either directly using the agent or via Docker. The interface is simple to use.
Cons: The pay as you go pricing continues to increase on at least a quarterly basis, which is a little annoying.

I have used New Relic since 2016 but only in the last few years I set up the product and used it more extensively.
Pros: New Relic is a very expansive product that can do so so much. It really can cover the capabilities of multiple other products.
Cons: I found it very hard and complicated to get started without training. I found I got lost in the UI often and the terminology was confusing. It took a lot of training to figure out how to use it properly.
Anonymous User · IT Manager · Information Technology and Services · August 21, 2025
Overall, my experience with New Relic has been very positive. It offers comprehensive observability across applications, infrastructure, and synthetics, enabling quick detection and resolution of performance issues. However- need some fixes in UI bugs/glitches.
Pros: Tech support, easy to use, user friendly. I like how New Relic provides deep visibility into applications and infrastructure through one unified platform. The real-time performance monitoring, powerful alerting, and customizable dashboards make it easy to detect issues quickly and maintain reliability. I also appreciate the ease of integration with cloud providers.
Cons: The incidents do not auto resolve instantly specially for process monitoring. When there are same alerts from different conditions it is not smart enough to not open a separate incident. Occasional Lag: Rare delays in metrics during high load.
Ruchika P. · Site Reliability Engineer · Financial Services · July 25, 2025
easy to learn and configure for observability. Support is prompt and resolutions are provided. Lot of widgets available for different visualizations.
Pros: Easy NRQL to to get data and prepare dashboards and view logs. Straightforward configurations to send application data to new relic. Lot of material available online to learn nuances of the tool
Cons: Lack of detailed structure of what all types of data types available to store logs. If custom visualizations are developed, its only available to other users as 'Core' or 'full platform' and not to 'Basic user'. This increases the licensing cost. sometimes custom visualizations such as 'pathpoint' are prone to bugs and Not available to view. Need to have more documentation around Nerdgraphs and Mutations.

Its very powerful monitoring. It has capacity to monitor massive amount of data. In our organization we are monitoring nearly about 1000 servers.
Pros: Its Visual representation is very easy to understand. All monitoring features are included like APM, Brower, synthetic, Infra monitoring.
Cons: New feature which is Ask AI is not giving solutions real time. It only provides data respective to new relic documents.

It has helped me keep our invoicing systems running smoothly, leading to fewer mistakes in billing clients when telecom usage spikes.
Pros: I appreciate how New Relic’s dashboards display live performance for our billing apps, allowing me to identify slowdowns that could cause a lag in financial reporting.
Cons: There are so many metrics, that the interface can feel overwhelming and it takes time for me to seek the information I need for accounting.
Clara T. · Accountant · Telecommunications · April 17, 2025
Pros: very easy to use, multiple filters and interfaces to work with
Cons: there is nothing i dislike about the tool. It is a wel made tool for the price paid
Tarnika C. · Product Specialist · Automotive · February 28, 2025
New Relic is a great tool for our monitoring and we use it for infrastructure and synthetic monitoring
Pros: It is easy to use and has a lot of options for monitoring
Cons: The cost depends on user based, for a large team, it was an issue
Tamer B. · Prodops Engineer · Retail · February 13, 2025
Pros: I like how its dashboard looks clean and easy to use. The monitoring tools are excellent.
Cons: There is nothing I don't like about New Relic now. But initially, during setup, it was a bit complicated.
Bishal D. · Software Engineer · Computer Software · January 30, 2025
I would say that overall, New Relic has been a significant piece of software for our company, given that we manage a mobile app. Spotting early signs of outages or issues will always be a company goal. You can also build multiple cards where you can write queries depending on the user data you need. This helps identify bugs and the users they impact.
Pros: New Relic has been very helpful in tracking saturation reports as well as errors. It helps us build a proactive approach and prevent anything from completely breaking, which would greatly affect user experience.
Cons: The only thing that I don't like about New Relic, at least from what we have in my current company, is the limit on the amount of data that it displays. We can only see 30 days' worth of data, which hinders us from tracking incidents that happened more than a month ago.

I would suggest that they begin with the basics and, from there, learn its advanced features. The documentation is great, and so is the community support.
Pros: I like the fact that it can give very good insights into application performance through real-time monitoring and detailed metrics.
Cons: New Relic has greatly optimized my workflow in that it proactively finds and resolves performance bottlenecks, freeing me to actually focus on the development and innovation of applications.
Khaled G. · Software Engineer · Information Technology and Services · January 13, 2025
Pedro L. · Consultant · Computer Software · January 2, 2025
I feel Every begginner startup at least with rails should at least have the free version of new relic and the upgrade into the paid. Now when scaling and for enterprise, datadog feels more connected when a trace is easier to filter on behaviours, logs, graphs, etc. I doubt we would go to new relic once you're using datadog since I think there's too many dashboards and alerts set up with datadog.
Pros: It's much less expensive than datadog as it's not the same offering. The info on query load, the db explains. I felt it was easier to setup than with datadog. Error tracking I believe is better as well from what I recall.
Cons: I bit obtuse in making clear stuff like appdex. When I used this back in 2018-2021, I was hable to priorize stuff by endpoints by throughput and then looking at slow endpoints. This is much easier looking at service pages in datadog where I can just sort by request count.
Mauricio L. · Senior Software Engineer · Computer Software · December 30, 2024
Newrelic is a really good tool I can have a lot of metrics in a easy way, but this is so expensive
Pros: It is so easy to implement new relic, the most that I like is its collector
Cons: pricing, it is really expensive to have all my services there
Anonymous User · Engineering Manager · Program Development · December 30, 2024
New Relic has been invaluable in bolstering our company's security posture. From early anomaly detection and threat identification to vulnerability management, it has enabled our security team to implement more effective preventive measures.
Pros: New Relic, a cloud-based observability platform providing a comprehensive view of application performance, has expanded its reach to become a strategic ally in cybersecurity. By combining performance monitoring with security analytics capabilities, New Relic empowers security teams to detect threats more quickly and effectively, reducing incident response times.
Cons: I cannot find any negative aspects to point out.
Rodrigo T. · Director of Cyber Security · Information Technology and Services · October 22, 2024
Overall, our experience once set-up is good. Some services were difficult to set-up, but now everything works as intended. New relic is a powerful observability tool.
Pros: Ths software has tons of features to monitor almost any possible tech stack. It has been improved overt time, as previously it had an overcomplicated UX/UI.
Cons: Set-up can be tricky sometimes for determined services, and also, it can become quickly expensive if you need more than the free tier, which can make it difficult for SMB's to adopt it.

Annelies V. · Administrative medewerker · Chemicals · September 10, 2024
Pros: I noticed a sudden increase in response times for one of my application endpoints. With New Relic, I was able to drill down into the root cause, discovering that it was due to a database query that needed optimization.
Cons: I least liked about New Relic is its pricing structure, which can be complex to understand and may become expensive as my monitoring needs grow.
Allyson C. · Senior staff engineer · Computer Software · May 23, 2024
I have been able to manage my company's projects with ease.
Pros: What a great tool! I love the user interface as it is so friendly. The pricing is also cheap. It requires so less training.
Cons: It is working great. I have no issues using this tool.
Keith B. · Project Manager · E-Learning · May 13, 2024
Happy with the product overall and it has a good user interface and easy to use
Pros: New relic has many features for active monitoring and getting access is pretty easy. Configuring and using the alerts to get the application insights is really good
Cons: Maybe improvement to the monitoring in terms of code logs can be helpful for the developers
keerthi r. · Product owner · Computer Software · May 2, 2024
Pros: New Relic provides me an easy way to monitor my entire stack from the backend to the frontend websites. This way, I can know if there are any bugs or services which can be optimized.
Cons: The setup deployment was quite confusing at start, since I have to use a lot of custom configurations and try around a bit.
Ryan W. · Developer · Information Technology and Services · April 5, 2024
Pros: Some services like APM, Browser Monitoring ,Alerts and AI are some services which I really like about the New Relic.
Cons: That it is costly and New Relic's documentation is not up to date.
Ankita S. · Software Engineer · Information Technology and Services · February 5, 2024
Really good technical product, but for large enterprise environments the licence model is causing problems, it's user based
Pros: Synthetic checks and alerts are very well and teams can get there information to troubleshoot their applications
Cons: - Pricing and user Licence model, every year it's changing his pricing model and usage model - Frontend Monitoring
