Terrible. Just one issue after another, and often the "support" team were the ones causing issues. They would give wrong information, or just not listen to what the issues were and it would make it worse.
Pros: Not much to be honest. The onboarding process is confusing and not well supported, the running of payroll and getting reports is clunky.
Cons: Their customer support is terrible. They told me wrong information, and ended up leading me down the wrong path for submitting payroll, and then they left me hanging and basically said you have to figure it out yourself. The whole point of paying for payroll software is so I don't have to deal with it myself. It's overpriced, terrible support, and very clunky software. I gave them two seasons of trying to make it work. Not worth the money or effort.

Frustrating! Also seem to have minimal evolution in their product since I began using it. You would expect new features, improvements to existing ones, etc. Not with Knit.
Pros: Cloud-based, good security, easy to manage employees, ROEs are easy. It does most of the core things you would expect well enough.
Cons: Unreliable support staff. Over promise, under deliver. When you get them engaged they are confident but frequently provide timelines and their own self-imposed deadlines to fix things and they go AWOL. Lots of glitchyness generating reports. Hard to confirm that a payroll will balance before uploading to accounting software. Timeoff management is not good. Cannot get notifications to work. No integration with MS Teams.

It was a nice switch from quickbooks. Having multiple available wage rates was absolutely necessary for this company and it was a great help.
Pros: We switched from quickbooks payroll to knit as we outgrew what quick books could offer and it is was quite streamline. It was easy to input historical year data as we switched mid-year. It is great that Knit submits taxes for us and that you can file ROE's through knit rather than having to create and ROE web account.
Cons: It would be nice if the manual entry payroll would calculate the employer portion themselves since it is just a direct calculation rather than having us have to input and calculate ourselves. It seems like it could be possible as Knit normally calculates this themselves while processing regular payrolls

Overall experience now that I have a experience with the software is great and very happy with Knit.
Pros: Very user friendly for payroll processing for small business but has all the bells and whistle to deal with complexities. Love the help articles they are extremely helpful and easy to follow. Customer Support team is also a plus, they are very helpful and patient. Year end processing is also very straight forward and I absolutely love the reminder emails for payroll processing this is a great support!
Cons: Although understandably needed the 2FA is annoying.

Pros: Can access current employees and history anytime from anywhere
Cons: can't track banked time for salary workers

Love working with it. Easy to navigate and onboard new employees.
Pros: I find Knit very user friendly. The support team is really easy to reach if there are questions.
Cons: It is hard to get detailed information online with more intricate questions. The FAQ page is pretty basic so you need to email their support team.

The setup was incredibly easy, and their user interface is clean and intuitive, making it easy to navigate even for someone without a payroll background. The team at Knitt is incredibly responsive and always willing to help whenever I have questions or need assistance.
Pros: great professional and easy to use. staff are very helpful
Cons: here are a few areas where I think Knitt Payroll could improve. For one, while the platform is generally easy to use, some of the more advanced features could benefit from additional guidance or video tutorials.

I'm really happy with Knit and I would recommend it to other small business owners who are looking for an affordable payroll system. I think it covered all of the bases, the support was great when I needed help, and it's been great to be able to use it with more employees over time, too.
Pros: I liked using the system every two weeks to run our payroll, it was more intuitive than other systems I've tried in the past. It was easy to onboard new employees, manage things like reimbursements, and handle automatically sending documents to the CRA. It was easy to track Paid Time Off requests, and my employees could easily get a copy of the documents they needed at the end of the year to do their taxes. It really is a solid solution and it doesn't feel like anything is missing, or like anything is clunky which is really nice if you've ever tried other systems that feel a little more "cobbled" together.
Cons: There were a few sticky points like setting up vacation pay was not as straightforward as it could have been, and once a mistake was made it was hard to fix. But overall, there weren't a lot of problems or issues.

Good system for small businesses and good options for payment.
Pros: Easy to use and doesn’t charge for months there no payroll.
Cons: Charges a full month when I only need to do 1 ROE or T4.

My experience with Knit has been fantastic! Payroll withdrawals are processed seamlessly on the same day each cycle, and funds always arrive on time. Their customer service is outstanding—helpful, responsive, and quick to resolve any issues I’ve encountered. Highly recommend!
Pros: Customer service is extremely responsive!
Cons: The delays in payroll changes, but customer service is very much on top of it, so it helps. So far, that is the only con I have experienced. Only other issue I have had, and it could be a one off, is a clarity concern regarding my most recent inquiry, but it was resolved promptly.

Pros: Ease of use and communication. Anytime I have a question I know I'll get a responds same day. Most of the time I get a reply right away
Cons: So far I don't have any issues. Any changes I need they make with no issues

Two years managing payroll for a small business. Love that it will provide reporting for finance and HR needs.
Pros: Ease of use and price point for the scale of our business. Great support responsiveness when needed.
Cons: I’d like to be able to edit notes after posting.
Mary B. · Director Operations · Information Technology and Services · December 21, 2024
Pros: Knit has been super easy to use and there is always support when needed!
Cons: I have not come across any issues, I have had a great experience!
Olivia K. · Nurse Practitioner · Health, Wellness and Fitness · December 20, 2024
Excellent support and great platform. We have moved many clients over from QuickBooks to Knit for the superior experience, customer support, and the platform itself is much more automated than others on the market.
Pros: Knit is ahead of the curve with all things payroll. Not only will they issue T4s and ROEs directly to the appropriate authorities (not available with QuickBooks payroll and many other cloud solutions), but they also allow for flexible billing options to pass on the subscription to the client with the firm discounted pricing!
Cons: It can be difficult to get a new company verified before payroll services can be started using Knit. The verification process involves the client and relies on them knowing how to use digital ID verification through Plaid which is often a long drawn out process to walk them through and for them to complete, since we cannot do so for them. We would also love a time and attendance tracker that integrates directly in Knit. We have some work arounds with other third-party software, but it isn't perfect.
Kaylee M. · Director · Accounting · December 20, 2024
Pros: Was very easy to get setup and the customization of taxes was easy to understand.
Cons: It would be ideal to have the option to run a direct debit even for manual one off pay runs.

Using Knit has made it easy to onboard and offboard
Pros: Very easy to use, user friendly. Having the reminder emails when it's time to run payroll is helpful too!
Cons: I don't love the summary page, but it's fine.
Lindsay P. · Owner · Accounting · December 19, 2024
It's been great, I enjoy that I don't have to do the CRA reporting myself
Pros: Very easy to set up and use. Knit takes the thinking and reporting out of doing my payroll and makes sure I hit my payroll deadlines.
Cons: There's really nothing that I don't like, it's actually super easy.
Brandon R. · Owner · Environmental Services · December 17, 2024
Positive and easy to work with program. Help is also available.
Pros: Onboarding was a pleasant experience. The program is easy to use after reading and playing with it.
Cons: It took a little to get used to but now we are comfortable with the program.

We are a very happy customer. The software keeps us organized with all our HR needs and runs payroll for us in autopilot.
Pros: We really like that Knit runs on autopilot once things are setup.
Cons: I really don’t have a con to share. There have been only a few issues in the years we have used Knit but customer service took care of them very quickly.
Michael D. · Managing Partner · Construction · December 17, 2024
Pros: Knit is very intuitive and easy to use, as well as aesthetically pleasing to look at (which seems to be rare in the world of payroll providers). The customer service is also helpful and fast.
Cons: I do love speaking with someone on the phone when I have an issue vs. email support. I'm just old fashioned like that, I suppose.
