Chameleon is one of many Shelter management software programs. It is expensive and a large program. It has many good features and can be used in the field by the officers or in the the shelter by the staff or both. Finding support for questions is hard unless you are paying for it. It is not an easy program to learn, but once you master, it is a great program, packed with features.
Pros: Lots of features, many different windows, able to be used in the field by officers as well as in the shelter by shelter staff.
Cons: Difficult to learn. Not user friendly. Answers to questions difficult to get without paying out for support.

Pros: It runs great reports IF you can figure out how to input all of the info and train everyone to input the info-not an easy task, especially with no manual
Cons: Not user friendly, very specific- have an animal with an unusual name? If not spelled right, no animal shows up. Forget an animals name? Sorry- you can't look it up. Or maybe you can, we were given 1 week of training with installation- but no training manual. During the 1 week, we had no idea what questions too ask. Our shelter bought it, then quit using it, due to complicity with no support.

Pros: This is certainly a robust piece of software. The capacity and customization is huge so it can adjust to fit the needs of most organizations.
Cons: It is too complex for it's own good. If you don't interface with it correctly, you will get errors. Too difficult to train new users with it.

Chameleon has always been great to work with. Support is always great and more than willing to help teach the user/designer not only how to use the software but how to analyze the data.
Pros: Very customizable - easy to make it work for us.
