PrintSmith Vision is very easy to learn compared to other MIS systems, perfect for small to medium print shops who want a software that can manage their production workflow without adding too much complication.
Pros: PrintSmith Vision has a clean user interface which is easy to navigate and personalize. It has all the essential elements expected of an MIS system without the clutter.
Cons: It is not built for easy for third party integration. The reporting features in PrintSmith also leaves a lot to be desired.

Cons: With the new update - I don't like how you save and then it pops you back to the screen. It is a weird change.

On the accounting standpoint, it is usable. On the estimating standpoint, it is outstanding. On the reporting aspect, the tools could be better for finding facts and figures. On the purchase orders, more space could be used or realigned if needed.
Pros: Various menus and numerous options for estimating when printing any type of products.
Cons: Not enough options for reports or options to change up what you need.
Melody C. · ACCOUNTING MANAGER · Printing · December 10, 2024
Pros: Once configured, it doesn't require an expert user to write up and generate jobs.
Cons: The system starts very bare-bones, and configuration of the system requires the ability to dive under the hood and understand what is going on behind the scenes.

Most of my experience has been very expensive. but the staff is usually very responsive to my needs and helps me get through whatever the problem may be. Although i do not think i have talked to anyone there for over a year. i don't even know the new email for service.
Pros: I love the program as a whole. everything is clear and easy to use and accurate.
Cons: The cost is very high and it needs a website as part of it so everything is one place. i know you offer a web site add-on but its not cost effective for most small printers. I have a website that is not attached to the printsmith system that is very reasonable but it doesn't integrate into you product so i have to run separate books for it. I don't even have the web site customers on the printsmith software because its too tedious to double up work.

We have had great experience using PrintSmith since last 3 years. The regular updates are good. The customer service back up is superb.
Pros: Printsmith is very user friendly. All the information about your job work is at your finger tips.
Cons: Not much. Their always a scope of improvement.

Have used Printsmith since the late 80's. It's a valuable tool even as we use it being a small print shop.
Pros: Comprehensive software for printers specifically with the ability to be used in many ways.
Cons: Highly complicated but it has to be in order to conform to so many different companies that work in so many different ways.

We've been PS users since 2004. Each time new owners purchase the suite of products, development accellerates for a time, then resources are reallocated elswhere and updates and fixes come more slowly. This can be very frustrating, however it's fairly common in the software world of today.
Pros: Of the MIS systems available, this is the most cost effective solution. Some support representatives such as [sensitive content hidden] are fantastic. PS is a solid base product with long development history.
Cons: The development team, while good, is smaller so changes, bug fixes and enhancements take a long time. Third party solutions are needed to provide features that should be provided natively. Needs cost effective web-to-print option, better native CRM features, and better billing integration.

Overall, our experience has been helpful. A much needed program for our business.
Pros: We have used PrintSmith for over 30 years. It does what we need to do to run our business.
Cons: I still have trouble finding some reports and it takes me a while to find what I need. The icons and some items are hard to find or understand.

We have been using PrintSmith since the beginning of time, so we have seen a lot of changes over the years. We are very pleased with how the application has developed into a robust application that is now able to interact with DSF.
Pros: Once it is fully set up, it is an easy-to-use application. Most importantly, it allows the end-user to place orders online via DSF, which makes the whole data entry process easy to oversee and maintain.
Cons: Some options are locked such as when searching Web Orders, the search option cannot be customized so instead of 'Invoice' as default, to change 'Web Order'

My over all experience is 9 out 10 good. We have used it in our business since 2000 and have watched many positive changes.
Pros: The ability to look up account history The ability to upload my paper suppliers price list The templates are great.
Cons: I wish you were forced to enter the Invoice Title to include all items on an invoice, rather than it auto inserting the 1st item. I wish that you could link A/R with Quick Books online at no extra cost. The reports seem to be very complicated. I wish there was a more cost efficent solution for online orders.

unhappy. It is much harder to use than when it was designed for the mac. Lack of shortcuts
Pros: emailing to customers. The look of the invoices
Cons: Harder to use than the original one that I purchased. Hard to find things. I don't mind paying for the monthly fee for the version in the cloud but I resent having to pay to upgrade it. All the other companies do not charge for that.

Overall, I am happy with PrintSmith. I like it, but I don't consider it a complete product, hence the fact that we had to get PlanProphet on top of it.
Pros: It's a great platform overall. It's pretty intuitive to use once you get the hang of it. It has a lot of data available in the database if you get into creating your own reports, which is very useful. I had positive interactions with support as well.
Cons: The reporting module is not great. You have to really know how to code in inet designer and all the reports are static. We had to purchase another product (Plan Prophet) on top of PrintSmith to give us all that we need. PS has a very archaic system for tracking customer followups and team collaboration and there is no way to automate any customer followups or pretty much anything. I really dislike the super long term contracts whenever you ask for a new user license. Support hours are ridiculously expensive. You have to pay a lot of money for training. PS does not have any good video training. You have to heavily rely on the user manual, which is a great manual if you are a super technical person. Videos would be a lot more helpful. It also takes a long time to get new features implemented.

It is a very reliable software than makes running a print shop easier. The customer account management and account ring reports are the best features.
Pros: The ability to quickly create estimates, review order history and create helpful reports makes things run very smoothly.
Cons: Updating costing can be complicated/daunting.
Sara E. · General Manager · Printing · December 9, 2024
Been using PrintSmith for almost 20 years, including production and management.
Pros: Very efficient to use. Breaks down prices as needed.
Cons: Set up, including reports is very cumbersome
Jim L. · Manager · Printing · December 9, 2024
Pros: Great UI. Easy to navigate for all departments.
Cons: Building custom forms such as invoices is antiquated and cumbersome on Crystal Reports.
Amy D. · Sales and Design · Printing · December 9, 2024
I had it since 2000. I don't use a lot of the features but it has been great for me.
Pros: History, Easy to write up orders, updates pricing.
Cons: freeze up sometimes, I can't email from it. I use to about 4 years ago.
Anonymous User · President · Printing · November 27, 2024
I don't know of much that I would add to it. It has been very functional as we need it.
Pros: All of the information I could want is easily found.
Cons: Would like to be able to integrate with our print systems without a prohibitive cost involved.
Josh B. · Prepress Technician · Printing · November 26, 2024
Used to be really good, and good responses. Also had developments and enhancements. Seems to have slowed to a halt.
Pros: Was (as in past tense) a really good system. But it seems like development and even support have declined.
Cons: See "pro's" to understand the con's to the system.
Darrell A. · CFO · Consumer Services · November 26, 2024
Overall it has taken 5 years to really get the hang of it. We started slow with only doing estimates. We moved to workorders 2 years in. At 3 years in we started working with invoicing and stock inventory. We are still learning and the software continues to improve.
Pros: Ease of creating Estimates and Workorders, still so much to learn.
Cons: Not knowing how to getting pricing correct.
Alex F. · Executive Assitant · Printing · November 26, 2024
Great experience, professional interactions.
Pros: Consistency and simplistic support system.
Cons: That self hosted PrintSmith Vision servers are not yet supported on latest Mac OSX!
Oliver M. · IT Manager · Printing · November 26, 2024
Very good system overall. Makes your job very easy
Pros: The ease of access, and easy to navigate around
Cons: asks us to save and confirm each step. Should be auto save
Saim R. · Operations manager · Printing · November 25, 2024
Pros: Our site order times have reduced considerably. Inventory has been much easier to manage.
Cons: We've had to reach out for support a few times to get things resolved, which works out fine, but would love to be able to fix things without doing so.
Mike H. · Network Engineer · Information Technology and Services · November 25, 2024
From start to finish, working with PrintSmith is easy to learn and pick-up on. As someone who was new to the printing industry, I had a lot to learn but PrintSmith made it a lot easier and brought the learning curve down.
Pros: The software is very easy to learn for someone with no industry experience.
Cons: Some things don't quite work all the time or as intended.
