A mixed bag with great disappointments. The coding feels great and I'm happy about related features, but the cloud, file management, backup, and user interface are horrible. So much potential missed out on essential things that are so standard for modern programmes.
Pros: I love that the codes are coloured automatically and show up as such when you go through the document, with the specific code being next to the segment that you have coded it with. I am also a fan of the concept map functionality and how you can just drag codes into it and connect them with each other, and that this creates an actual connection within the code structure, not just in the concept map itself.
Cons: $8b

I'm satisfied! It's much better than the cumbersome Nvivo. Coding is really easy, and it offers lots of other features that I haven't used yet, but which don't clutter up the interface for simpler tasks. So I think it's a pretty solid and simpler tool, even though it offers many options for exploring data.
Pros: Atlas.TI is a robust application for qualitative research. I like how light and user-friendly the interface is. It's easy to learn how to use! Researchers can collaborate online (although there is still room for improvement in this area).
Cons: The transition from computer to cloud is not easy. There is a 500 MB limit for importing projects from the desktop version to the cloud version. However, you will only find this out after you try to do so. It is not particularly emphasized when you start working with the desktop version.

Terrible, frustrating, slow, hiccup, non customizable, non field tested, fast coded (not compact) program, that sabotages your work, workflow, for exactly that basic elemental work you have to do in social qualitative research: transcribing and coding. The fundamental, hiccups, no customization is counter productive and especially sabotages your work(flow). It's utterly terrible.
Pros: I don't know, maybe the analysing after coding? The visualization, what makes it good for research. Maybe the automatic labels you can create and don't have to manually write (in the old days?). Nothing more.
Cons: It is the least customizable program in history. - the constant saving when you apply a code, why can't I change that? For every code I apply, I have to wait for 10 -15 seconds for the project to save. Every time! It's sabotaging my process. - The hotkeys, you cannot change hotkeys. Why? And who was the genius to program this in a way that when you transcribe, the spacebar is the pause button? When I transcribe, this very slow hiccup program, sometimes get's out of edit mode. So when you type, and push spacebar, the video recording starts to play, pauses, starts to play again, pauses. Sometimes, due to other hotkeys, the sound is muted, or you start at the beginning of the video. - Applying codes, takes a long time to process. - Constant hiccups. Slow, counter productive for research, and as a student, it really frustrates all these hiccups. At the end of the day, maybe 1 or 2 hours are basically lost due to this programs hiccups, constant saving and what not.

It was very positive overall. It took some time to sort out the tech issues, but once this was done and I got the hang of things, it has been very useful for my data analysis. Service support was outstanding.
Pros: Powerful tool for analysis, which is user-friendly
Cons: I experienced frustrating problems with set up - though these do not to seem to have been Atlas' fault. The user manual wasn't entirely clear,

Pros: Customer service is amazing- they reply very fast and give very useful -and patient- guidance
Cons: I found some tools a bit more complex and less intuitive than before- such as exporting the number of quotes per group of documents and codes

ATLAS.ti intuitive interface enabled rapid coding and analysis of large volumes of transcribed interviews. The ability to organize and visualize data through concept maps facilitated the identification of emerging patterns and themes. Furthermore, the integration of various types of data, such as texts, videos and audios, enriched the analysis. Real-time collaboration with colleagues through the web platform made teamwork efficient and fluid.
Pros: $8c
Cons: ATLAS.ti is an excellent qualitative analysis platform.
Reylis Michel E. · Certified Public Accountant · Accounting · July 10, 2024
Good, very easy to navigate, and with the undo button its really easy to play around with some functions.
Pros: It makes it to analyse the qualitative data, and i can always go back and change code, or merge or split, its quite helpful.
Cons: Mine crashed, and i am not sure if there ia some information on how to go about that in the manual because I was just frustrated, because i could still open projects but the documents content was not showing in the main window, and i could not creat new project.
Mamello K. · Nurse midwife · Hospital & Health Care · July 5, 2024

I have experience using several of the top-selling QDA platforms. One of the reasons I am loyal to ATLAS.ti is because its customer service is unsurpassed. It's easy to submit questions about licensing and functions, responses are prompt, and the human beings who send the responses are knowledgeable, reasonable, and kind. They make my life easier!
Pros: The user interface is intuitive; running queries is easy.
Cons: I've been resisting the subscription format, but it's the common business model these days so I understand. I've been using v.8 for nearly a decade and I'm hoping they've done away with the bundling/unbundling function for v.24!
Shannon G. · Qualitative Research Consultant · Research · June 28, 2024
Pros: Atlas.ti's ease of use is increbile. It took me literally half an hour to switch from another major CAQDAS to Atlas.ti. The user interface, cross-platform, the exceptional customer service, just everything is far better. There are differences in the methodological approach that have to be considered when switching to Atlas.ti. For example, the node hierarchy works differently. And so too does the classification of cases (persons, organizations) have its particularities in Atlas.ti. But none of the necessary adaptations represent a major issue in switching. Beyond that, Atlast.ti does a much better job in every other aspect of qualitative data analysis.
Cons: Case classifications Node hierarchy (impossibility to use parent nodes for coding)

It is a software that requires time and testing exercises to understand how each of the tools works, but once this process is done you can achieve great mastery of its use. You also have personalized advice 24 hours a day by chat or zoom
Pros: Virtual advice 24 hours a day that provides the tool to resolve doubts or concerns in the use of the software, in several languages
Cons: The web version has many analysis tools in beta mode, which makes it difficult to work synchronously in a collaborative group. Therefore, it is necessary to work on the computer version to get the most out of the AI tools that have recently been incorporated.

Disappointing. I won't be renewing my subscription because I don't feel confident in this app anymore.
Pros: - Relatively easy to use and lots of features - Easy to contact the Atlas.ti team for help - Different pricing options
Cons: There was an issue where I lost quite a bit of work, and it appeared to be an issue with the app rather than something that I did. The support team could not help me and I felt like the communication wasn't great. I reached out to them three times and on the third time, they told me that the developers could not resolve my issue. I was disappointed that I had to contact them to get an update instead of the other way around. I would have been fine with knowing if I had somehow caused the problem and knew how to avoid it in the future, but it just felt unresolved.

My experience with Atlas.ti has been awesome. It's data visualization abilities and code-document analysis helps derive more insights from data.
Pros: The fact that I can group my codes and documents. Then view my findings with excellent and beautiful visualization tools does the magic for me.
Cons: Statical analysis functionality of Atlas.ti is something I am yet to get a grasp of. I think it would be very helpful if a webinar is organised to sensitize users about this functionality.
Joseph O. · Data analyst · Research · April 11, 2024
Pros: Atlas.ti makes it super easy for multiple researchers across different universities to code and analyze data as a team.
Cons: Sometimes an update comes with a glitch or two, but support is always quick with a solution.
christine f. · research assistant · Education Management · April 11, 2024
Pros: Atlas is a user-friendly software. It allows us, qualitative researchers, to have all our research material in one place – images, video, or transcripts. It is also a handy feature to rename the documents already uploaded to Atlas. It does not do the analysis itself and gives the researcher the tools to use their skills and creative mind. This software design is essential to ensure the authenticity and novelty of data analysis and research output. It is also a significant bonus to have the Atlas tutorials readily available on the web and their support team, which is very responsive and eager to help via live chat and email.
Cons: Two people cannot work synchronously. One person must work, save, and send the project to the other. The cloud and simultaneous collaboration features need further improvement to increase the collaboration capacity.
Umay K. · PhD Candidate Research Assistant · Higher Education · April 2, 2024
I am very satisfied with Atlas.ti as it provides a lot of convenience in qualitative data analysis. Moreover, I got the user access for free from the university where I study. This truly helps in completing my coursework
Pros: The thing I like most about Atlas.ti is its AI coding capability. This feature greatly facilitates initial research analysis. Additionally, I highly appreciate the ease of coding and numbering quotations, as it simplifies the process of creating and tracing both direct and indirect quotes.
Cons: "What I dislike is that Atlas.ti frequently prompts for application updates. When I'm out of town with poor internet signal, this can be very inconvenient. Secondly, the use of AI coding features is limited by a certain number of tokens. So, I need to be careful and schedule the use of AI coding features to avoid getting my account suspended.

Pros: I recently contacted the support team of Atlas.ti, as I had a problem when upgrading the program. My concerns were listened carefully, and my problem got solved in a friendly and professional manner. I was extremely satisfied after the experience! Many thanks to [sensitive content hidden] (from the support team) for all her patience, help, and assistance.
Cons: My projects were not transferred automatically to the new version of Atlas.ti when upgrading the program, which was quite scary. However, after contacting the support team, I got all my projects and work back quite easily.
Lara G. · Researcher · Research · March 8, 2024
I'm new in qualitative data analysis and in the use of data analysis software. I'm not part of a team, but never felt alone. I have in hand not only the information on line (user manual, youtube videos, etc.), but especially the direct and quick personal attention to solve my doubts.
Pros: Documents, dialogues, texts and words in general are a wide world: direct meanings along with subtleties, metaphores, ironies... I higly value how Atlas.ti facilitates to reach conclusion: the easines of coding, grouping, extracting co-occurences and word frequencies, elaborating my own queries, networks, etc.; and the visual sources it offers.
Cons: I can think of a 2 particular details: not yet clear for me (from linguistics) what the coefficient mean in the co-occurrence tables; and still a bit messy for me to build some queries and networks.

My overall experience with Atlas.ti is quite positive, including the support staff's quick responses and availability. I recommend it to colleagues and students and look forward to using it with enhanced AI features in the future.
Pros: Atlas.ti does exactly as the title says - it is a very straightforward workbench, providing a handful of tools to enhance qualitative analysis, enabling a systematic and methodologically robust way to work.
Cons: Data visualisation should also be exportable (which still needs to be 100% available, at least in the MacOS version). Although I appreciate the AI features are still in the beta phase, the limits of their functionalities should be more explicit so that the users would have realistic expectations and optimise their time and use of the tools.
Tamiris S. · Research Associate · Higher Education · January 30, 2024
I have the latest version, but I'm struggling to utilize all functions, and there are no beginner-friendly manuals. As this is my first experience with data analysis software, I recommend seeking assistance because learning on my own is proving to be challenging.
Pros: Customer service patience in thoroughly addressing my concerns and their precision in providing solutions were truly commendable.
Cons: It seems counterintuitive to have to pay for training on a tool for which you are already subscribed.
Humberta S. · Phd candidate · Education Management · January 30, 2024
Works well for quick data analytics and visualization on small datasets
Pros: Ease and simplicity of use for data analytics
Cons: Does not handle large amounts of data well, was difficult to analyze multiple documents together
Anonymous User · PhD · Architecture & Planning · January 3, 2024
Overall, Atlas.ti was a good product to use for qualitative research as it streamlined the process where all information/data could be found, stored, reviewed and adjusted seamlessly.
Pros: Atlas.ti made the compilation of codes from transcripts relatively easy with data discovery being easily accessible.
Cons: Atlas.ti may be difficult to use at first without the proper training which can be frustrating where certain aspects with data analysis being more difficult than it needs to be.
