I've had a great experience with Sublime Text, i've faced very little problems including bugs and it has been able to support what i've needed it to do. I've used it for mainly basic HTML, CSS & Java and the software has supported it perfectly.
Pros: What i liked most about Sublime Text is it's use of colour. Having different tags in different colour helps me to break up code, and make it easy to find any problems in which occur. I also used Sublime text on mac, so the software being free for Mac users is also a big positive.
Cons: I haven't run into many dislikes when using Sublime. The layout is very user friendly, might be a little difficult to navigate at first but when you get around it it becomes very easy.

It’s a great editor when you want speed, simplicity, and control, and it shines for quick development work or clean text editing. Over time, I outgrew it for more complex workflows, but it’s still one of the smoothest and most dependable editors I’ve used.
Pros: It is fast and lightweight—especially for quick edits or jumping between files without any lag. The search and multi-cursor editing were also a huge plus, because they made it easy to make repetitive changes quickly without feeling like the tool was getting in the way.
Cons: it can start to feel a bit barebones once you need deeper “IDE-like” features such as built-in debugging or richer project tooling. Also, while packages help, managing plugins and keeping everything configured the way you want can take extra effort compared to more integrated editors.

Overall I'd say sublime text is very good, but with zed and vscode available and open source, you do not necesarily have to buy a sublime license
Pros: The application is extremely fast compared to VS code. It is extremely user friendly and does not lag when you open large files. It has good programming language support and extension support
Cons: Since sublime text is not open source, it cost money for a license and there are bugs occasionally that wasn't addressed immediately.

While I use full IDEs for my development jobs, I keep Sublime Text running in parallel for my other tools: note-taking (quick notepad), regex replacement, and the analysis of heavy server logs. I love Sublime for its dependability, minimalist design, and speed.
Pros: The performance is second to none. It opens immediately and works with huge log files (size in GBs) without crashing, a problem other IDEs have. The Multi-Edit / Multi-Cursor tool is a Godsend for immediate refactoring or working with data lists.
Cons: Unless you have bought a license, the 'Unregistered' alert that pops up every so often can be irritating. Furthermore, compared to the current extension market places available with VSCode, using Package Control to manage plugins seems dated and less user-friendly than current systems.

Great up until I needed to integrate AI into my daily workflow. I would love to go back to using Sublime Text if/when they ever fully support AI coding agents.
Pros: I like the simplicity and straightforwardness of the Sublime Text editor paired with the flexibility of being able to install the packages I care about.
Cons: Unfortunately, the app is behind the curve in terms of integrating AI with the IDE. I ended up switching to a competitor because of this.

Pros: Sublime Text was my code editor of choice for many years, I still haven't found anything that opens as fast this does!
Cons: The only reasons I switched away was for more detailed debugging that an IDE gives you, especially for C#.

Love it. If I want a very light, fast, easy to use editor for Mac Sublime is a no-brainer. Can't recommend it enough.
Pros: It's free, it's Mac friendly and it does exactly what you need it to. Very customisable but I often don't need to.
Cons: Could have some AI features baked in nowadays. Cursor and windsurf have them baked in but the UI isn't as good.

As I said, the experience I had is quite limited to a specific case, but I enjoyed it! I would certainly use it again!
Pros: The free version was enough to help me in a project, thanks to its specific and extended flavour of Regex: i managed to edit a large file where I needed a very precise way to identify a difficult part for "bulk" editing! Also, it's fast!
Cons: Maybe the price is not so affordable, if compared to other valid free alternatives, like Visual Studio Code!

Sublime Text remains a powerhouse for developers who prioritize speed and efficiency. The AI plugin ecosystem has breathed new life into it, making code completion and assistance surprisingly good. Perfect for quick edits and power users.
Pros: Blazing fast performance, excellent multiple cursors, and seamless AI plugin integration. Tools like GitHub Copilot and ChatGPT plugins work flawlessly without slowing down the editor. The lightweight design means AI assistance feels instant and responsive. Good community support.
Cons: Requires manual plugin setup for modern features. While AI plugins work well, they need separate installation and configuration compared to built-in solutions.

It is an amazing application, and I use it as my main note-taking application due to the fact that it is very lightweight and capable of opening huge files.
Pros: It is a very lightweight tool that has a variety of uses, such as a note-taking application or a mostly complete IDE with code highlighting and formatting.
Cons: Managing packages is somewhat complex, as it requires navigating to the file explorer to manage all the packages.

Overall I have used products like emacs, notepad++, the built in editor in visual studio and intellij and I prefer sublime text. I really like the new UI in sublime text and I like the fact that they allow you to use the free version for awhile to determine if you like it. I like the try before you buy.
Pros: I like the ability to split the pane and compare two pieces of software code side by side. I can use that to compare my version to the master version and verify that I only changed what was intended to be changed. I also like the color coding of certain key words which helps me prevent typos in my code.
Cons: I don't always like the auto-complete. It gets it right 95% of the time but sometimes it gets it wrong.

Pros: Sublimt text is my goto text editor for basic programming, while it does not have the frills of VS Code and the Storm IDEs it is light weight and super fast, works the same on any platform and is great for web.
Cons: Plugin directory at times is lacking, but this is less of a complaint about the product and just the community as a whole being smaller

Now I use VS Code for most of my development work, but I still have a soft corner for Sublime. It helped me build my base in coding. For someone who’s starting out or wants a fast and distraction-free editor, Sublime Text is still a great option. I’d definitely recommend it for beginners or even experienced devs who want speed.
Pros: I started my coding journey with Sublime Text, and honestly, it was perfect for a beginner like me. I loved the colour combo and clean interface — very smooth and easy to use. It never lagged, even on my older laptop, and opening big files was super fast. It gave me a nice push in the beginning.
Cons: One issue I faced was that some advanced features are locked behind the paid version, so for full functionality you have to purchase it. Also, when I moved to VS Code, I realised Sublime is a bit limited — especially in terms of extensions and integrations. The biggest drawback for me was the lack of AI support. It doesn’t have built-in tools like Copilot or Blackbox, which are now very useful in modern coding.

Good IDE, used it for a while before deciding to switch. Works great out of the box, is super lightweight, but no longer as powerful as the competition
Pros: Simple to use and does not need any fancy bells and whistles. Pretty lightweight and has great community support
Cons: A lot of the good features are paid. Not as feature rich as vs code. Requires plugins for a lot of tasks and also has a high learning curve

Pros: Great lightweight tool with a nice ui and can be used for personal and professional environments
Cons: In order to use its full features. A license is required which can be expensive depending on the use case

a great text editor good for python, html, and many other languages
Pros: User friendly UI, made the process of coding for a variety of languages easier
Cons: Subscription based payments or a full version that needs payment

Sublime offers a one stop shop text program for editing, viewing, and creating that can be used across multiple platforms.
Pros: Sublime is so straight forward and easy to use that you can become an expert after your first use. Since it is so easy to use, you will end up using it for a variety of purposes throughout your day. Additionally, it has a wide variety of features that you have become acustomed to using, giving you a one stop show for a text program.
Cons: The tabbing for multiple open documents can become painful to navigate through when you have a large amount of files opened at once.

I think sublime text is a cleaner and easier to use code based editor. It does everything I need for coding emails and I prefer it using Dreamweaver.
Pros: I have been using sublime text for editing and writing code for emails. it does everything it needs and has a simpe UI which makes it comfortable to use.
Cons: I had been using dreamweaver for editing and designing emails, which has a split screen view and live preview option which would be useful in Sublime text.

I used it to write and edit my code quickly and easily
Pros: The software has coding elements that support the work done faster
Cons: Even the interface needs an update, it's still speed and performance

I use a lot of terminal on both Windows, Linux and Mac. Earlier I would use VIM for text editing and I still use but with a really nice interface, Sublime Text steals the show. While it may not be as fast as VIM, it is the best one for most use cases.
Pros: It's ability to process large documents, syntax highlighting and packages for most use cases.
Cons: The packages for CSV editing aren't top notch! If I need some advanced features, they are not available for CSV but it is an amazing piece of software.
Vikas V. · Software Consultant · Computer & Network Security · February 18, 2025
Senankpon Pascal H. · Developpeur web · Internet · February 16, 2025
Pros: Sublime Text has a clean interface that can quickly be used to jump in to code.
Cons: This product is nowhere near as good as VS Code.
Jon F. · Manager · Information Technology and Services · January 21, 2025
Compared to other products like Visual Studio Code (VS Code) or Nova (by Panic) is the Sublime Text so buttery smooth and rapidly fast. I would say: Sublime Text is to code editors what Reaper is to DAWs (for music-editing). It doesn’t win a beauty contest but functional speed trumps make-up.
Pros: It’s super fast, reliable, free to use, and computer resource usage is very low. Also: Even if it crashes or I close it, it retains unsaved changes. It’s language-agnostic. I am able to identify special characters that look like that they "don’t exist" in regular WYSIWYG editors but they do, something like: <0x200c>
Cons: For my purpose (occasional simple HTML, CSS, JS editing) it works perfectly fine and smooth. There’s nothing that stood in my way.
Alexander K. · Tech-Savvy Copywriter · Marketing and Advertising · January 2, 2025
Pros: The speed of the software even on slow computers. Everything feels snappy in sublime
Cons: Can’t really think of anything specific.

Best experience with this editor easily manage all over code and I have 3 year of experience with this
Pros: I am so friendly with this editor when I was starting my career in coding first of all I started with Sublime Text .
Cons: Nothing to like this I love with sublime text and everything is so smooth.
