A great product overall. Easy to use with great telehealth functionality, just more expensive than other products that offered similar features.
Pros: Excellent user-interface, very simple and straightforward. Well-integrated with payment processing and very easy to manage appointments.
Cons: The cost is high for small practices with individual or few employees. Some features were not utilized for groups, prescribing, etc.

Overall, really good. I’ve occasionally thought about changing to a less expensive EMR but generally I’ve been satisfied enough not to.
Pros: Overall, it’s a really solid EMR. I like the calendar layout; scheduling appts is extremely easy; the telehealth interface is great. Clients seem to love the reminders and generally have no issues accessing telehealth. On the whole, online payments are really easy as well.
Cons: The treatment plan update feature needs work. You have to pull up previous plan and edit right in the plan. It took me awhile to figure this out, and it just seems like there should be an easier, more straightforward and clinically helpful way to do it.

Overall it was good for what we were needing at the time, it worked perfectly for starting out in healthcare.
Pros: How easy and simple the software was easy to use. If you need the simple stuff, this is the perfect one.
Cons: It is way to basic for more complex companies. If you need all the bells and whistles, it may not be on here.

SimplePractice was my initial stop when looking for HIPAA compliant charting, however, as a counselor in solo private practice, it isn't the option I ended up going with due to it not being the best value for the money. If other options provide the same level of service for less money it's a no brainer.
Pros: SimplePractice provides an all-in-one space to create templates for critical HIPAA compliant functions such as charting and appointment management. The user interface is quite easy to use and intuitive. While I never experienced any bugs or issues, and so never needed to contact their customer support, I'm sure it was as high quality as their product.
Cons: For the purposes of my solo private practice, SimplePractice simply wasn't the best value for the money.

My overall experience with SimplePractice was good. I have had no other issues with using their system!
Pros: I liked SimplePractice because of the ease of use, appointment management and the ability to make and send off templates with ease. I loved the streamlining of intake paperwork and the ability to document notes.
Cons: Unfortunately as a one member small business, SimplePractice increased their prices quite a bit which was outside of my budget. The system in general was great to use and I would have continued to use it without the price increase.

Simple to use ehr with all the basics you would need. It is costly in comparison to other products on the market.
Pros: It is simple to use and easy to have multiple users. Has telehealth options with minimal glitches or errors.
Cons: It is very costly in comparison to other products on the market, and does not have premium features for the price.

Very professional up until the time I had to leave due to rising costs. They were even helpful in enabling me and instructing me on how to download my files safely and securely. I left feeling nothing but respect and gratitude to them.
Pros: Simple Practice was very easy to use and was very consumer friendly. I trusted that my files were safe and encrypted and HIPAA compliant.
Cons: The cost began to become a little too expensive for a one person business. Perhaps it is more cost effective for larger companies to use.

Overall, we enjoy our work with SimplePractice and one of the most important things is ease on the client side, which is our priority. The secure messaging is a helpful tool for clients to access at any time.
Pros: We have enjoyed the ease of use of SimplePractice, more importantly our clients have appreciated the client portal reporting how easy and user friendly it is. Additionally, the document storing has been very helpful and creating and sending our own documents. Insurance filing is easy once it is set up and makes filing and resubmitting claims much easier than other platforms. Customer support is always available and responsive.
Cons: I appreciate the platform, however the price is more than other similar EHRs. It makes sense for our practice due to having multiple team members, but may become to expensive if we add more people to the practice.
Rebecca M. · Co-Owner and Licensed Clinical Psychologist · Mental Health Care · April 2, 2026
Overall, the platform works well for video virtual appointments, allowing the practitioner to chart at the same time.
Pros: Works great for virtual appointments: automated appointment reminders via phone, text and email that seemlessly link to opening up the app for video appointments.
Cons: No option for clients to manage making new appointment times with practitioners. The phone reminder has an option for canceling the appointment; the text and email options do not.

My experience was great. I used it for about 6 years until the expense became too much. I loved the ease of use and the user-friendly layout, and I love the customizability.
Pros: It’s really customizable and easy to use. I love the ability to make your own forms. So many platforms say they are customizable but they aren’t.
Cons: SP is incredibly expensive compared to other EHR platforms. In addition there are constantly cost raises with very little notice so you have like 30 days to decide if you accept the cost or have the time to do research and find a new platform.
Robyn R. · Owner and therapist · Mental Health Care · March 27, 2026
It was overall good. I liked how easy the forms were but I felt the portal and scheduling was clunky.
Pros: I loved how you could scroll through notes and see everythign it one. place. It was so easy to review the past few sessions, which I have not found on other EHRs besides CarePatron
Cons: The cost is not worth it at this point. There are other EHRs tha twork as well, especially for small practices that don't use insurance.
Madeline T. · Licensed Professional Counselor · Health, Wellness and Fitness · March 27, 2026
Our overall experience has been good. The cost is the a big draw back and we have been looking at different options.
Pros: The ease of use. Appt mgmt set up. We have been overall happy with it. We have not used customer support to provide an review on it.
Cons: Cost! At times the links are not working for virtual sessions. We will have to send the link to them separate.
Fran D. · Clinical Psychotherapist and Director · Mental Health Care · March 25, 2026
Overall it’s nice to use and understand. It’s streamlined for my clients which is helpful as many clients have anxiety.
Pros: I like the ease of appointment management. I don’t get too many disruptions. It feels very streamlined.
Cons: I think simple practice charges way too much and they keep raising their rates. It feels a bit predatory.
Kare L. · Therapist · Mental Health Care · March 25, 2026
I love it. Retiring now but recommend to people now going into private practice. It has served me well in 3 years of private practice.
Pros: Easy to use, confidential, sends client reminders, can talk with someone and get support which I really like!
Cons: Retiring and have to download all files rather than pay small monthly storage fee. Might not even be practical so will just download in next few days.

I am a very satisfied customer, and I did a ton of research before choosing Simple Practice. The fact that they've kept the price stable while introducing excellent upgrades is appreciated!
Pros: A true all-in-one solution, but not at the expense of quality or innovation. While I've rarely needed customer service, they were quite responsive and communicated well when I did.
Cons: It's a little hard to set up adult family therapy, and I wish the telehealth option allowed a single link that could be reused for each session.
Alan J. · Chief Psychologist · Mental Health Care · March 10, 2026
Pros: I loved the simplicity and prefilled templates, this software was very user friendly and integrated well with external calendar and payment processing. Switching to another EHR system was seamless.
Cons: The price is what I liked least about SimplePractice and some templates were too general and not specifically tailored to my family practice specialty.
Latasha B. · Clinical Director · Mental Health Care · January 26, 2026
Pros: I utilize this software as a customer of another organization, and I've found it very easy to use overall. Mostly, I utilize it for contacting my provider and managing my appointments and billing. The UI is pretty straight forward for how it displays to me, so I'm not too sure what it looks like on the back end.
Cons: The system settings for how it is set up is certainly unique, not quite a con, but there isn't a password for the application. I receive an email to confirm it's me, but this may be a unique setting my provider has set up. I'm not entirely sure.
Ashley E. · Administrative Coordinator · Hospital & Health Care · January 21, 2026
It’s a great tool for some, but we determined it was not the best for our company. It is expensive and the benefits did not outweigh what we were missing that other EHRs had.
Pros: It’s amazing for practices accepting insurance from traditional insurance companies. The user interface for both the client and clinician are also amazing.
Cons: The reporting side is lacking compared to other EHRs for Therapy practices. There is also no way to use non-traditional insurances and still pull reports for how much that company owes.
Emily J. · Operations Manager · Consumer Services · December 13, 2025
Clean, user-friendly design minimizes clicks and learning curve. Streamlined workflows—automated invoicing, superbill generation, eligibility checks, claim submission.
Pros: SimplePractice shines for its easy design, telehealth, billing tools, and smart automation. Workflow efficiency: "Time-saver" reducing administrative burden
Cons: Limited customization/reporting, lacking full API integrations. Occasional instability or missing client portal features, and support primarily via email/chat.

SimplePractice was a great EMR when I was a solo therapist. I did have to spend a lot of time creating the templates for SOAP notes, Progress Notes and Evaluation reports. Overall, it was a good product for the money.
Pros: This is a cost effective EMR compared to others. Scheduling and using the patient portal was easy and real customer support was available if I had questions.
Cons: In the beginning of my practice, I had difficulty creating templates. I was also unable to have temporary student accounts for graduate student supervision.
Ashley B. · Speech Language Pathologist, CEO · Medical Practice · November 13, 2025
I have used SimplePractice for five years and have had very few issues. Their team is easy to communicate with and respond quickly to help solve the problem.
Pros: It truly is simple to use. It offers all the features I need as a medical provider: customizable templates, ability to add various codes, built in billing, analytics, secure messaging, questionaries which can be scheduled to be sent to patients prior to each appointment.
Cons: The cost has increased over the years which I understand to some degree is due to new features, however, I do not need most of the features they have added as a single practitioner.

I didn't have the best experience withe Simple Practice, because it was not tailored for my profession as a Primary Care Provider/Med Spa client The onboarding specialists were annoyed at times, I only had one that was helpful Overall not the best experience and they should advertise that they are more tailored to Mental Health
Pros: It was an affordable EHR It had built in templates You can e-prescribe The offered sign on discounts
Cons: It was not user friendly unless you are a mental health provider/professional; All of the templates are tailored to mental health and creating your own template for Primary Care, for example, was very tedious The e-scribe option was helpful, but also not user friendly, too may steps to electronically send medications
Elizabeth W. · Owner · Medical Practice · October 16, 2025
Little to no support. You can wait days for a response if any from tech support. No way to organize files. Tracking anything is a nightmare. Requests for simple changes are ignored.
Pros: It is easy to use: Billing is simple. Appointments are easy for patients. Setup was simple. The mobile app is ez.
Cons: In the long run it just doesnt handle what even a small practice needs. It does not manage communications, or paperwork.
Racheal M. · Owner · Health, Wellness and Fitness · October 13, 2025
Overall, my experience with SimplePractice has been positive. The application itself is wonderful and has been a great choice as a beginner to private practice EHRs.
Pros: I really like its flexibility in allowing me to do most aspects of my workload for my private practice within one application. The ability to submit claims, check claim status, and allow patients to submit payment within the application is wonderful.
Cons: Truly, the price is a dealbreaker. I am in the process of switching to a different EHR as a result of the price increasing so often. I have used it less than a year and it has already had a price jump twice. In addition, being charged per claim after so many increases my monthly bill. It becomes a lot.
Ryan P. · CEO - Speech-Language Pathologist · Hospital & Health Care · October 8, 2025
Overall, I am very pleased with this data management system, and I am quick to recommend SimplePractice to others. I really like the referral system; one of my colleagues referred me, and I am doing the same for others.
Pros: Someone asked me what I like the most about SimplePractice, well, let me start with the fact I have a one-stop shop of ease with appointment management, and it is one of the best for the value for the money. For starters, as a new practice owner, it gave me the option to create a professional website and access to professional learning about the software and amazing tools that they are adding to help me streamline my practice even more.
Cons: What I like least is getting accustomed to using a chatbot for tech support. The chatbot has been on point, but this is taking some getting used to. The one time I actually had to speak with a team member/customer service person, they were professional and handled my referral issue with ease.
