I was very disappointed by the failure to accurately represent the limitations of the trial period and free account. I don't expect much for free but the misleading suggestion that there is a viable free option was very frustrating. You can really only have a few records for 1 patient and then you get locked out.
Pros: This initially seemed like an OK option for a small therapy practice but the user interface is really awkward in terms of basic billing and documentation for a mental health private practice.
Cons: The 1 GB free account is misrepresented. Once you hit the 1 GB you lose access to EVERYTHING unless you pay for the upgrade. There is a warning that you are nearing your limit but in my mind, that should not mean you will lose access to everything. I was unable to delete my account or retrieve any records that were within the free 1 GB without paying. They eventually agreed to give me access to delete my account but I was still blocked from downloading the client records which I was able to do before I hit the storage limit.

It has made my practice so much easier; I can focus on fully being present with my patients. I recommend it to my colleagues and friends.
Pros: I love that you can tailor it to what demographics you need. The AI transcriber is really helpful. It also has its own virtual platform that is seamless for online clinic.
Cons: In my case, i wish it can incorporate pay wallets using QR codes, because this is more applicable in my location

It is functional for basic tasks. It have some MAJOR issues that need to be corrected and so far they are not even close to being resolved. From above (That you can’t seem to make basic updates like allowing the virtual visits to have closed caption to all for people with disabilities to use it. Also the inability to have people make partial payments seems like a reasonable thing to have since many people need that option. I also hate that you charged me for a service that I was a beta tester on and never was able to get it to work! Customer service for this issue was nonexistent!)
Pros: That it is for the most part cost effective. That I can customize my notes. There are more things that I do t like about it than things I do like.
Cons: That you can’t seem to make basic updates like allowing the virtual visits to have closed caption to all for people with disabilities to use it. Also the inability to have people make partial payments seems like a reasonable thing to have since many people need that option. I also hate that you charged me for a service that I was a beta tester on and never was able to get it to work! Customer service for this issue was nonexistent!

It is more than adequate for my needs and the improvements that have been made to the desktop version have always made my user experience better but I have been frustrated when making or managing bookings on my mobile device.
Pros: I am impressed with the way Carepatron are continually looking to improve the product and the customer support team are excellent and seek to address queries and fix bugs and issues in a timely manner with clear communication at every turn. The product is definitely value for money and great for appointment management. The interface is easy to use on a computer but a bit clunkier on a mobile device and the constant updates on accessing the the system do get a bit frustrating especially on the mobile app. I am not currently using the patient record function.
Cons: The use from a mobile device is often frustrating with slow initial load times followed by an update that then further delays the ability to use the app on the go

I have recommended Carepatron to colleagues and friends seeking an affordable platform that offers adaptable and HIPPA-compliant services to clients.
Pros: The platform has enabled me to securely send and receive thorough intake forms with clients. I can schedule in one place, record and communicate with clients.
Cons: The pay structure was not clear to me at first. Additionally, I needed extra support setting up secure email.

I enjoy using Carepatron. It makes keeping up a whole lot easier. The calendar is the best part I think.
Pros: It’s very user friendly. It doesn’t take long to learn the programming or how to navigate the system.
Cons: There are a few places that were challenging to learn. I really had to search how to cancel an appointment. It took me a while to find it. Now that I know it’s no issue.

I am very happy use Carepatron and recommend it to other providers frequently. For my small practice, it is just what I need.
Pros: The platform is easy to use for me and for my clients and the price for what it offers seems unbeatable. The chat support feature usually answers my question. Scheduling appointments is easy and I like that it gives my clients text and email reminders. I also really appreciate how it streamlines intakes, session notes, and billing. The AI features and video call feature are also very useful.
Cons: Carepatron is missing some features that would make it a perfect all-in-one resource, including expense tracking and creating end of year reports on total income and broken down by clients.
Jessica M. · Board Certified Behavior Analyst · Mental Health Care · April 15, 2026
No the happiest with the service. If I had more assistance in onboarding the system I’d have a better chance at getting paid
Pros: I was intrigued by the option to have an account for free to be able to upgrade by choosing services we actually need.
Cons: The fact that I have been active for over a year and not even one claim has been paid. I have inquired about it multiple times and no answer yet. Not being able to get claims paid has hurt our business.
Rosa S. · Executive Director · Mental Health Care · April 14, 2026
The emails prior to sessions are a great help with being prepared at my sessions. This platform is easy to use and to make changes on an ongoing basis.
Cons: I found it challenging to sink to my Google Calendar. I still haven’t found out how to do this.i have tried countless times to reach tech support and no one can help me with this.
Stefan D. · Family therapist · Mental Health Care · April 13, 2026
It was fine. I wish it provided more support and guidance. I wanted to truly love it and continue using it.
Pros: The price. That's why I chose this company. They provided a few tiers which was helpful in for my small practice.
Cons: There was not a lot of support or guidance regarding billing. I expressed when starting that it would be something I was interested in.
Chel'sea R. · Owner · Mental Health Care · April 10, 2026
Overall very happy with this product and service. I’ve recommended it to others as an alternative to more expensive options, especially for practitioners with smaller practices, like myself.
Pros: Customizability: I love that I can include my logo and customize the look of invoices, templates etc. The introductory free trial was very helpful to get to know the product and get started with it. The introductory year pricing was totally worth it. The ongoing price (year two) is decent, especially compared to other more well known platforms. I appreciate the built in video conferencing feature. It works well. Customer service was helpful and responsive when I needed it.
Cons: Not as intuitive as the leading platform in Canada when it comes to setting up how clients view calendar availability/scheduling, but I’m still learning this. When creating templates it’s sometimes hard to shift things around in sections (so you have to delete the whole section and start again if the order isn’t right… but maybe I’m doing something wrong here). Although PIPEDA compliant, I would prefer if the data was stored in Canada, and I wish the PIPEDA compliance was a bit clearer on the website. I do wish the video conferencing had a “whiteboard”.

Using Carepatron has made my life so much easier. With all the benefits that come with Carepatron, and their affordability is truly amazing. It is so easy to add new patients, schedule virtual appointments, submit billing claims. And I love their AI feature. I can customize my own templates and email them to my clients. With the all in one platform, I never have to toggle back and forth between different apps. I have tried other EHR systems, but ALWAYS came back to Carepatron, because no other platform has been able to provide everything that Carepatron does, along with their stellar customer service.
Pros: I absolutely love Carepatron. They offer a very generous free tier, which includes HIPPA compliant telehealth. Their website is super user friendly. They also provide other packages, and add on services, all at great affordable prices. Carepatron combines EHR, practice management, billing, and AI tools that can record telehealth sessions and automatically generates clinical notes. Flexible scheduling and a patient portal. You can also customize your own note templates. I have received Stellar customer service when needed. It truly is unbelievable everything you get with Carepatron and how affordable they are. I highly recommend you give them a try. You will not be disappointed!!
Cons: I can't think of anything I don't like about Carepatron. And I have even tried other systems and none of them were quite like Carepatron.
Sarah S. · Mental Health and Substance Use counselor · Hospital & Health Care · April 9, 2026
Overall positive, I recommend it particularly for new practitioners. It can improve but I believe it is a good starting point.
Pros: Easy to use, you get a good tool for the money you invest. Customer service is responsive, sometimes I see some technical bugs but very quickly they are fixed I think it is a good and lean interface in comparison to others I tried before
Cons: It would be nice to have a reporting section to analyze some data or to get there is not so clear For virtual sessions a waiting room would be great
Martha B. · Psychotherapist · Mental Health Care · April 9, 2026
Overall, I have enjoyed the use of Carepatron in my practice. The scheduling appointments and generating claims are easy to use.
Pros: Carepatron is the most cost effective for my practice. I utilize it more just for the billing aspect to file claims. I have not utilized customer support as the support questions and videos have been sufficient for any questions.
Cons: I have found it tough to navigate with the documents so I have an alternative system to utilize. With the use of everyone adding documents to the library, I found it confusing. In addition, it would be helpful for assessments to be scored.
Lisa M. · CEO · Mental Health Care · April 8, 2026
The program is a great price if you're starting out your private practice. However, it lacks some of the key functionality that a private practice needs to run effectively and efficiently. If you are starting a private practice and only working a day or two a week, it is manageable, but if you do this full time or run a group practice, some functionality of the platform needs to make some big improvements before it seems like a viable competitor to Simple Practice or Therapy Notes.
Pros: Moving my client documents and files over from another platform was fairly easy. I also like how the platform has it's own video conferencing option. It is a good price, but there are definite things I would like to see changed.
Cons: Carepatron doesn't feel like a program that was created for therapists to use. When a client or potential client fills out paperwork, it doesn't automatically update personal details, like phone number, date of birth, etc. It also doesn't have a great homepage. I wish it had a place where it indicated you have notes that are drafts or are not yet complete. It also doesn't have reminders that you need to complete something or update a treatment plan. The templates that are within the program also need some work or don't automatically calculate a score (like the PHQ-9).
Natalie N. · Licensed Clinical Social Work · Mental Health Care · April 7, 2026
My overall experience has been satisfactory. I feel like I get a good number of resources for the money I am paying for the platform. I appreciate that.
Pros: I like the price of the services and what is offered with the price. I also really appreciate the transcribed sessions and AI generated note taker. That feature is most helpful for saving time with my practice.
Cons: The system is not as user friendly as I would like. Logging on from the internet is not always easy. Also sending out assessments through the patient portal is not user friendly. Interacting with the patients through the portal should be more accessible. Changing and scheduling appointments is not user friendly.
Marlo P. · Therapist · Mental Health Care · April 6, 2026
Carepatron has really made managing my workflow easier, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for an all-in-one solution.
Pros: I have to say I’m really impressed with Carepatron. From the moment I started using it, I noticed how intuitive and user-friendly the interface is. Navigating the platform is a breeze, and that makes my day-to-day tasks so much smoother. What I particularly love is how it combines so many features into one seamless platform. The scheduling and note-taking functionalities are perfectly streamlined, saving me a lot of time and effort.
Cons: I experienced quite a bit of frustration with glitches and lagging. It often made navigating the platform feel disjointed and slow, which disrupted my workflow. I really hope the team can address these technical hiccups because the potential for the software is definitely there.
Haley R. · registrar · Hospital & Health Care · April 5, 2026
It has been reliable, fairly priced, and overall works to help organize my practice without being an overwhelming software system
Pros: The automated reminders to patients The messaging system for new patients to request an appointment
Cons: On the app version, I’m unable to see another provider’s schedule alongside my own. Also, when adding a new client, there is no space to add the date of birth. Once the client is already entered into the system, only then can you go into their personal data and put in a date of birth.
Sophia H. · Speech- Language Pathologist · Hospital & Health Care · April 5, 2026
Carepatron is convenient, well organized, and makes organization and booking easy. I have had minimal issues with using Carepatron.
Pros: Carepatron is very easy to navigate and fill out. Managing patients, appointments, and paperwork is effortless.
Cons: Some minor bugs but there are minimal issues. Any problems have been handled timely and appropiately through customer support.
Kae Z. · Student · Higher Education · April 4, 2026
There was an initial learning curve getting used to the system and setting up all documentation templates, but once you get through that it is very easy to use.
Pros: It is inexpensive and fairly easy to navigate once you get oriented to it. Billing is incredibly easy and everything appears professional on the client end.
Cons: Appointment reminders do not automatically go out and have to be manually sent for each session. The system does not create a to do list (i.e. does not prompt you to write progress notes, treatment plans, etc.).
Karmen B. · Owner, Counselor, Coach · Mental Health Care · April 4, 2026
Overall Carepatron has been a great tool for our team. It offers the flexibility to capture client care documentation in the manner that meets our business needs, and is very user-friendly in terms of documenting sessions, services and client care. We have also had a great experience working with the Carepatron development team who has been open to our ideas and helped with troubleshooting when needed. This is a great value for the money!
Pros: Carepatron is a great value for the monty and provides some necessary branding and template configuration controls that we need for team operations. I like the ease of use to facilitate clinician onboarding, and some of the scheduling and service configuration options have worked well for us.
Cons: We rely heavily on our ability to alert our clinicians when clients have provided high-risk responses to an assessment or questionnaire, and need full access to all client data to properly facilitate program evaluation and outcomes reporting. We would also like to see additional workflow customizations available, as well as the ability to more easily integrate care into other systems used to support client onboarding and post-treatment support. We are using Carepatron for a clinic-based setting, so the option for clinicians to delete some of the templates, clients, etc. isn't ideal.
Nicole B. · Senior Director of Operations · Health, Wellness and Fitness · April 3, 2026
4 stars, I like the system overall. I think you guys are doing great and continue to be innovative and grow the EHR system which I like.
Pros: The AI documentation I like the user friendly look The system design is great I like the calendar and how it is user friendly
Cons: The video clichés when I'm on calls and if I go off the screen on the phone it stops the AI documentation Unable to set up auto text and emails to patients Unable to auto bill When on a support call, the person was unfamiliar with how to set up the e-prescribe system or if it was capable to prescribe compounding medication.

its affordability and ease of use, which make it a practical option for managing daily tasks without a steep learning curve. The platform is intuitive and allows me to complete documentation, scheduling, and patient management efficiently. While there are some areas that could be improved, the overall value it provides for the cost and its user-friendly design make it a helpful tool in my practice.
Pros: it offers great value for the cost while still providing all the essential features I need in one place. The platform is very easy to use, which makes daily tasks more efficient and reduces the time spent navigating complicated systems. Its patient management tools are especially helpful, allowing me to keep everything organized and accessible, from documentation to scheduling. I also appreciate how simple it is to create and customize templates, which saves time and ensures my notes and workflows are tailored to my specific needs. Overall, it helps streamline my practice without adding unnecessary complexity.
Cons: few workflow limitations that make documentation and administrative tasks more time-consuming than they need to be. For example, goals do not automatically carry over into SOAP notes, which means I have to re-enter or manually reference them each session. When creating intake forms, if I input the child’s name, the signature section defaults to the child rather than the parent, which can be confusing and requires extra steps to correct. I also find it inconvenient that I have to create a separate profile for parents instead of having all relevant information under one unified family profile. The claims submission feature is not very user-friendly, which makes billing more cumbersome than it should be. Additionally, I don’t like that other clinicians in the system can see how much I bill patients, as it raises concerns about privacy and internal boundaries.
Ruby C. · Occupational Therapist Owner · Medical Practice · April 3, 2026
Overall, my experience with Carepatron has been good. I love to see that they are always working to better the platform and are open to suggestions.
Pros: Carepatron has been just want my small private practices needs. I used it when I was private pay only and then continued to use it when I accepted insurance. The customer support is timely and if they don’t have a feature I ask about, they let me know if it is in the works or will report it to their team for future updates.
Cons: Some things that may be practice specific for me would be that there isn’t one tab that I can open that’s says these are the dates that need notes for appointments or these are the dates that you haven’t billed for. Instead I have to look at the colander at each individual appointment. I also wish there was a goals section in the client dashboard and these goals would carry over into an AI note template for data tracking. Additionally the AI capabilities are exciting, but could use some work in terms of the process time and wording.
