EmailOctopus

Pros: I use EmailOctopus for my small business. I use the free version and use get some great features for free. I set up weekly campaigns and send out to different groups, ie schools and nurseries. I have draft emails that are easy to amend and make copies of to keep and amend at future dates. I love how you can look back in each campaign to see the percentage of opened emails and also who has clicked on links. So easy to keep your contacts all in once place and organised in groups.

Cons: I find it quite time consuming to make emails when adding pictures and links but this would probably be the case with most systems.

Pros: EmailOctopus is still very easy to use. I like the clean interface, good templates, drag-and-drop editor, and how quickly I can create and send campaigns. Overall, it remains a practical and user-friendly platform for email marketing with good pricing.

Cons: My main issue is how subscriber billing works across multiple lists. I had one main list with 4,000+ subscribers, and I created another list from part of that audience with around 1,000+ subscribers. Even though I only used that second list once, the subscribers were counted again toward my total, so I ended up paying for more than 5,000 subscribers. This increased my monthly cost from about $28 to $34. I think this should be made much clearer inside the platform, with a stronger warning before users create overlapping lists.

Pros: Simple and easy to set up, we use Email Octopus to parse new email subs from multiple lists and give them an automation sequence. It took less than 5 minutes to upload a list, and another 10 to set up a multi-touchpoint email automation. Super affordable, and easy to scale too.

Cons: The intial 2500 sub limit was considered a detraction for us when we first started, since a lot of our lead gen magnets attract a lot of subs who only want the freebie. I wish there were "industry specific" limits.

Pros: EmailOctopus stands out for its clean, easy-to-use interface and affordable pricing, making it ideal for small businesses and marketers. The campaign setup, list management, and automation are straightforward, and the deliverability is reliable. It integrates well with platforms like Amazon SES and provides clear analytics to track opens, clicks, and performance without unnecessary complexity.

Cons: While EmailOctopus is easy to use, its automation and advanced segmentation features are limited compared to more premium email marketing tools. The template library is also quite basic, offering fewer customization options for highly designed campaigns.

Pros: I really like how simple and straightforward EmailOctopus is to use. The platform feels clean and uncluttered, so it’s easy to build and send campaigns without faffing around. It integrates well with the tools I already use, and I’ve found the automation features surprisingly capable for a platform at this price point. Overall, it’s a reliable option that makes day-to-day email marketing feel effortless.

Cons: The main drawback for me is that some of the design and segmentation features feel a bit limited compared to larger platforms. It does the basics well, but it can feel restrictive when you want to create more advanced workflows or detailed audience segments. A few parts of the interface also feel slightly dated, and I’d love to see more built-in templates.

Pros: Very easy to use and to integrate to the mailing list submission form already setup on my website. User-friendly site to navigate.

Cons: The ability to categorise people on your mailing list through tags is a little clunky. It would be useful to be able to organise contacts who haven't necessarily subscribed to a mailing list (e.g they've just signed up to receive emails about a particular event). It isn't super obvious how best to set this up, at least to me.

Pros: Have been using EmailOctopus for over a year now because of price hikes with a competitor. The customer service is superb, the software is easy to use and the email designs are professional. Now use this service for our email and campaign marketing.

Cons: I have no complaints at this time. Possibly more design variation and ability to use my brand fonts, but honestly I am happy with service.

Pros: Value for money, as a new business I like the free trial it is generous and help me decide later when i have more customers to upgrade to paid subscription

Cons: Template/design & customization options might feel more basic than big-name platforms, but for me as a new business it is fine

Pros: I was looking for a more secure service at a good price, and even with some free features, this is excellent!

Cons: At the beginning, I was receiving too many emails, but they can limit the number they send, so there are no complaints.

Pros: Deliverability has been excellent, and the templates are both flexible and professional. The integrations with other platforms (like Google Suite and Knack) make it easy to connect EmailOctopus with our broader workflow.

Cons: Overall, this is an excellent service that delivers great value and reliability. If I had anything that came close to a CON, it would be that I never win at any of the email contests they send. (And how petty of a complaint is that, right?!)

Pros: I can get started with my list for free, with great delivery rates, good templates, and an easy to use dashboard.

Cons: I'd like a few more options, such as rss blog option when writing my newsletter, but it could be that I am on limited options due to the free plan so I'm not complaining.

Pros: User interface is really nice and clean and easy to find what you need to do. Tracking clicks, unsubscribes, etc. is really helpful. Email sending has been 100% reliable.

Cons: Nothing of note. There are some advanced features I've seen on other products that EmailOctopus doesn't have, but nothing that would be of any value to what I use it for.

Pros: Easy-to-use platform, outstanding customer service, and very customizable. Intuitive with great templates to use if needed.

Cons: I have not found any cons with this platform at all. I can't offer any improvement suggestions because it is everything that I need.

Pros: EmailOctopus has been a wonderful tool for managing my author newsletter. It’s secure, affordable, and incredibly user-friendly once you get the hang of it. I love how easy it is to organize my reader lists, run campaigns, and track engagement without feeling overwhelmed by data. The platform’s clean layout and customizable templates make my newsletters look polished and professional. Their customer support team is also quick to respond and genuinely helpful—something I truly appreciate as a small business owner.

Cons: On smaller laptop screens, the drag-and-drop editor can be a little tricky to use. Sometimes I have to scroll just right to position elements, and the widgets don’t always land exactly where I want them, causing the screen to bounce around a bit.

Pros: It’s simple and easy to use! Good value for money. Customer support is efficient and friendly. Gets my questions answered when needed!

Cons: Nothing really! To be honest I haven’t used it enough to find out what might go wrong. But so far so good!

Pros: Their free service is outstanding for what you get, and it made it an easy choice to trial. Once signed-up the features and facilites are very easy to understand, with the UI being clean and very user-friendly. I've only had one need for support in 18 months, and that was fixed relatively promptly (considering I don't pay for the service!).

Cons: I think it would be good to have a lower-priced basic tier which just let you save past campaigns beyond the timer period of auto-deletion you get with free.

Pros: I like that it has been an easy switch from Mailchimp. It is way more affordable, and I like that there are real people behind the company. Every time I have emailed about something I have received a thoughtful reply and they have even implemented one of my requests as a new function for emails. I am happy with the automations, and the way that I can segment my subscribers. I also really enjoy their emails, and actually open and read them. Thank you for not sending them too often. Just overall a happy customer.

Cons: I'm not sure. I have sent feedback before about adding some additional functions to templates but off the top of my head I can't remember what those were anymore.

Pros: I find it very easy to create email campaigns that have helped my business to grow- the templates are great and if I needed any assistance the team reply to emails on the same day and give excellent support and tutorials to help you create what you need on the platform.

Cons: nothing. I really love the service and will continue to stay with Octopus as find the support incredible for someone that is not that great digitally you make it easy

Pros: Email Octopus has been great. Import of contacts and automations have been easy. I also like that I can even do automations on my free account for my volunteer organization.

Cons: I wish there was an app. Previously I used another service that had an app I could use on my Android. Nevertheless, EmailOctopus is better.

Pros: I found it easy to learn and use—very intuitive. Also, customer support is excellent. This was a huge factor for me because my previous service was not helpful. They spoke in tech terms. I'm an author and need to handle my website myself. EmailOctopus is phenomenal.

Cons: I don't have any complaints. EmailOctopus has everything I need for my author newsletter and book launch team communications. I get compliments on how nice my newsletters look. I'm very pleased.

Cons: Que no esté en castellano. Sería muy útil que la plataforma estuviera traducida al español. Otro aspecto útil sería herramienta de ranking para insertar el los envíos.

Pros: EmailOctopus is so easy to use - like ten times easier than MailerLite. When I first starting setting it up, I was so happy that it didn't take tens years and an IT degree which is what it felt like I needed with MailerLite and MailChimp. I actually like doing my newsletters now! And the free option is perfect budget-wise for those of us who do not yet have a big list of subscribers.

Cons: There could be a few more free template options and maybe a few more geared toward authors and other creators as well.
