Long time administrator and user of Cityworks who has watched the evolution of the system over many years. Ease of use and setup is great.
Pros: Cityworks AMS and PLL offers a complete enterprise solution for maintaining a city with asset management and permitting process control all in one place.
Cons: Not really much. The solution is always evolving to fit user needs and address issues and make enhancements.

So far it has been great, from a GIS standpoint.
Pros: Easy integrations with ESRI products. Easily consumes ArcGIS Online webmaps.
Cons: I've only been using it for a few months so not long enough to form an opinion.

Cons: New user that received no training and I’m missing out on great data that I don’t know how to find yet.

Pros: Easy to customize functionality and features
Cons: The cityworks interface is quite old and slow
Mandeep L. · Application Analyst · Government Administration · May 16, 2024
Pros: viewing historical trends, asset tracking
Cons: Implementation was, of course, a long and arduous effort, but it was expected
Johnathan G. · AMS and GIS Admin · Utilities · May 16, 2024
Excellent product features and support staff are very knowledgeable.
Pros: It is easily configurable and the api offering is extensive.
Cons: This is nothing that I do not like about Cityworks.

good except for upgrades. support staff are always very knowledgeable.
Pros: GIS centric is very important and dependent on success
Cons: reporting is difficult for users and request help often
Julianne H. · GIS DBA · Government Administration · May 16, 2024
Pros: Ease of use, ability to manipulate the data to get the information you need.
Cons: That not everything, in terms of functionality, are not implemented yet.
John S. · Cityworks Analyst · Government Relations · May 16, 2024
Very good working experience with everyone at CityWorks.
Pros: Full work flow management system that has a large number of integrations.
Cons: There are some functions that are not envision for our use case.
Craig B. · Chief Innovation Officer · Government Administration · May 15, 2024
Pros: The capabilities of city work are superior to other progams ive used
Cons: Not free training. I would like to be able to have yraining resources available at no cost.
Naelia A. · Operations Planner · Utilities · May 15, 2024
Overall experience has been great. With how quickly the technological landscape is shifting, Trimble has done very well to keep up.
Pros: Ease of installation and administration. The technical support and extensive documentation available to help admins and users is pretty awesome. All the partners available are experts and do a very good job.
Cons: Cityworks has API and webhooks to help connect with other Information Systems but they do not cover all bases and force us to go with custom solutions.

Good so far. Biggest problem is employee buy in.
Pros: Ease of communication. Tracking assets, service requests, and work orders.
Cons: Repsond. Getting used to it after office. Also, it seems like it was pushed out before it was developed enough, to many updates to responds, admin, styles ect...
Erik D. · Engineering and Technology Specialist · Utilities · May 15, 2024
Excellent customer service. Ability to chat, submit cases, and hopping on a call with a tech.
Pros: Ease of customization and easy to use. Ability to train users quickly.
Cons: Lack of full functionality in aime apps
Ernestine P. · Cityworks Administrator · Government Administration · May 15, 2024
Pros: If you understand the program it can boost your companies asset management
Cons: It is a difficult road to set it up and customize
Matt D. · Operations Supervisor · Environmental Services · May 15, 2024
Pros: The software really looks like as resofters so it should be easy to learn
Cons: Not really knowing all of the add-ons and other things you can do with it early on
Uriel C. · Program Manager · Utilities · May 15, 2024
Pros: Tracking labor, equipment, material and reporting
Cons: Not being able to edit tasks on work orders
Ashley C. · Financial Coordinator · Government Administration · May 15, 2024
Pros: Customer support from our account management team, intuitive graphic user interface design
Cons: Slight hiccups with earlier versions during transition from office to respond.
Marty T. · Administrative Assistant · Government Administration · May 15, 2024
Pros: Ease of use and clean UX. Seamless integration with Esri.
Cons: Respond UI moves around a lot when clicking and navigating. Frustrating for my users. PLL is not easy to administer given all of the nuances. Notifications are also tough to manage and limited in their functionality.
Nathan S. · Geospatial Services Manager · Information Services · May 15, 2024
Pros: Newedge implemented Cityworks for our loval government and the transition and ease of use has made development in Beaumont, Texas easier than ever. Having contractors able to submit plans for development without having to physically be in Beaumont has development booming.
Cons: No more office updates, seriously respond is coming and we know but I like office haha.
Elayna L. · City Planner · Political Organization · May 15, 2024
Pros: Work order creation, management, and asset history.
Cons: Clunky UI, customizing ability especially in an enterprise environment.
David M. · Land Resources Operations Supervisor · Government Administration · May 10, 2024
It works well in helping schedule work, show the total cost of finishing work, and visually depicting asset management.
Pros: This system is highly configurable to help meet end user needs. Some of the recent web based add-ons have really helped what used to require a high learning curve. The ability to see work visually on a map and the direct connect to GIS is also quite nice.
Cons: I'd like to see more integrations with more 3rd party road applications (though this may not be their fault), a recent change to separate maps onto a different tab makes it hard on remote users working with tablets.
Robert S. · Acting Manager of Public Works · Government Administration · December 10, 2020
Good experience with feedback from our users to allow us to make Cityworks what they need and to make it more user friendly for users who do not have a GIS background.
Pros: This is a very scalable software for work and asset management. The best part is that it is 100% GIS based. It is also very customizable through XML and JS changes. We have made it our own to what our users require.
Cons: The separate map page can be hard to work with. Most of our users prefer to use GIS Search. We have also customized the work order page to include an imbedded map.
Matt F. · Business Systems Specialist Sr · Information Technology and Services · December 17, 2019
Easy to start to work with it Strong GIS function Too many clicks for certain functions.
Pros: This is a great system with embedded GIS. Users run the system for asset management through work order, inspection, service request modules, and etc.
Cons: As different organizations have different business work flow, we need customization to fit our business requirement. Cityworks lacks the tool to make customization.
flora z. · software specialist · Government Administration · November 19, 2019
Our previous work order program did not have a mapping feature and also did not allow you to track costs. We now can track costs in many different ways (by asset, by location, by date, by time period, etc.).
Pros: The mapping feature allows us to see problem areas instead of just looking at a list.
Cons: If you schedule repeat work orders, they are created immediately upon completion of the current work order. This tends to clutter up your list of work orders.
