Pros: What I like most about Modernizing Medicine is its streamlined, single-page layout, which makes it easy to navigate key sections like past medical history, surgical history, and the assessment and plan without jumping between screens. The interface is intuitive and allows quick access to essential clinical information. Additionally, the order templates are efficient—commonly used labs and medications can be bundled together, which reduces repetitive tasks and improves workflow efficiency in daily practice.
Cons: Despite its high cost, approximately $800–$1,000 per user per month, plus additional fees for services like faxing and integrations.Modernizing Medicine lacks some basic functionality that is standard in lower-cost EHRs. For example, lab ordering is not fully optimized. Many labs are not preloaded with CPT codes, requiring manual entry for each test and each lab vendor (e.g., Quest or LabCorp). This creates a significant administrative burden, as practices may need to input hundreds or even thousands of codes to enable proper lab transmission and barcoding. In contrast, lower-cost systems such as Practice Fusion often have these features built in from the start. Additionally, the note structure is not ideal. The assessment and plan are not clearly paired together, which can make documentation less intuitive and harder for other providers to quickly interpret. This impacts clinical communication and reduces overall note clarity.

Overall, my experience with ModMed has been positive. It has helped streamline our workflows and improve efficiency in day-to-day operations. The platform is user-friendly and adaptable to our practice’s needs, which makes a noticeable difference in productivity. While there are occasional slowdowns and some processes could be more streamlined, the overall functionality and benefits outweigh the drawbacks.

Pros: What I liked most about ModMed is its intuitive, specialty-focused design. It’s easy to navigate, saves time with efficient workflows, and can be customized to fit our practice’s needs, which really helps streamline daily operations.
Cons: What I liked least is that the system can occasionally feel a bit slow during busy times, which can interrupt workflow. Additionally, some tasks require multiple steps to complete, which can be slightly time-consuming. While the customization features are a great benefit, setting them up initially can take extra time and effort.

My overall experience is very positive. Our customer success manager is extremely helpful and the support teams are great. MIPS was a new process for me and the MIPS advisor we had was amazing!
Pros: The improvements and capabilities that they continue to provide to enhance the users experience. Its a very easy software to use and maneuver in.
Cons: I still feel like the reporting capabilities can be improved to where they are more customizable without errors.

it has been a wonderful experience with modmed. It is an easy system and the codes are made while note is comepleted.
Pros: how easy it is to use, how the note is built from just clicks, the codes are included and not is built easy.
Cons: does not save if more than 2 people in chart, We cannot complete path log from chart on tablet, we have to use actual computer.

WORST EMR that I have ever used: compared to EPIC, Eye MD and All Scripts. 1) Too, Too many clicks and page changes to complete notes 2) Under codes diagnosis. 3) must manually edit billing codes since Modmed under-codes
Pros: comprehensive pre-written discussions about diagnosis. Workflow tab is helpful to view clinic flow. Code tab to review charts is helpful, unless you want to review more than 1 day.
Cons: 1) Too, Too many clicks and page changes to complete notes 2) Under codes diagnosis. 3) must manually edit billing codes since Modmed under-codes 4) Very Poor response from Modmed to make corrections

The only good thing about this experience was the trainer [sensitive content hidden]. She was very helpful even though I expressed multiple times how much I hated this system.
Pros: Nothing!, Going from Exscribe to MOD MED is a joke. They lied about initial pricing, I was quoted a completely different price. I feel like I was sold on a program that is nothing like what we are using. Not Orthopedic friendly!
Cons: My provider is older and using this system was suppose to be much easier but it is not. We still don't have any of our files transferred over.
Maria U. · OFFICE MANAGER · Medical Practice · September 29, 2025
Overall, we really enjoy the functionality of ModMed. We like that it is web based and we seem to not have too many issues with it.
Pros: Our practice works out of two separate EMR systems so we are able to see functionality out of both systems and compare. We love ModMed and wish they offered Cardiology so we could switch all of our practices over to just ModMed. We currently use it for Dermatology and Allergy & Asthma. The practice management side is extremely user friendly. As I work on the Administrative side, I cannot personally speak for the Clinical side but our physicians seem to think it is user friendly and are happy with their purchase.
Cons: Customer support could use some work. It seems when we have some issues, it is extremely difficult to get someone to speak with you directly on the phone rather than by email. This delays fixing things.
Sarah Kate H. · Human Resource Manager, Administrative Assistant · Hospital & Health Care · September 23, 2025
Terrible, frustateing as all heck. I think that I feel more betrayed then anything. I lecture at several seminars and bring my Ipad with me. Sometimes hundreds of students or other physicians see this glich with the Dragon issue during my case presentations. They must have lost thousands of potential doctors at this point. They still will not fix the issue. I just really really fell ripped off.
Pros: NOTHING!!! Absolute the most frustating program ever used in my career. In the beginning you are excited and promised the world. I think a few problems actually were corrected. I think that maybe the company just became to big or something. Frustation grew as gliches became more and more. Now every phone call with tech support is promising. They are friendly for sure. The techs actually act suprised (I think) that the issues have not been fixed and promise they they personally are going to get right on this. Nothing EVER comes of it.
Cons: Glich after glich after glich. I spend my entire day dodging gliches--costing me hours per day. After being promised for a year (at this point you have so many AR's you cant back out and are trapped), nothing ever get fixed, plus you are charged for the portions of the program that are non-operating. I have been so patient. Its not fair. They sell the hell out of you on something that just is not there. I have paid for Dragon medical on the App., for I use an Ipad. Your curser jumps all over the place with every word said. You have to stop with ever second word to replace your curser to resume dictating. Over a year and a half they have been promising a fix. I pay an extrta 100 dollars per month that they will not take off of my bill fort this.

My overall experience with modmed has been amazing. Using it constantly daily has made my role easy.
Pros: Mod med is an amazing and easy platform for documenting a visit. It’s interesting how you can make templates on it making charting so much easier
Cons: When working in a medical office it can be difficult or frustrating when ever the site is down. When the site is down we have to switch to paper style
Rinchen D. · Lead medical assistant · Medical Practice · April 24, 2025
I have used it for a few years and found it easy to use, although PC version is different and takes more getting used to
Pros: This EMR allows IPAD usage which allows me to face patient with data in front of me. Modmed is also ophthalmology specific.
Cons: PC version more difficult to use. The format is significantly different than the IPAD version, unless this has been changed recently

Love it, Plenty useful updates. I was using paper charts until hearing about mod med from a immediate friend. There way to many updates. Some of the features are irrelevant.
Cons: There way to many updates. Some of the features are irrelevant.

works well for our dermatology practice that has a cosmetic & aesthetic side as well as medical.
Pros: We use the PM & EHR portions and they are a seamless together!
Cons: cosmetic packages aren't a smooth process.
Bonnie M. · FD Supervisor · Hospital & Health Care · March 12, 2025
i have had a positive experience so far, not many complaints.
Pros: I really enjoy the ease of access to all pages i need to access.
Cons: possibly that the patient account notes are not on the front page before check in.
Natalie G. · Front Reception · Hospital & Health Care · March 10, 2025
It's been a Great experience ( so far), of course, there is lots of room for improvement and upgrades ( if they are willing to hear users out ), but i use it everyday and it's very easy to use and organized overwall there could be changes in some places too.
Pros: Very organized system, easy to work around
Cons: I work in the faxes tab consistently, the fax tab, I wish it could somehow be organized. I mainly need to see the referrals, and sometimes items like that can get lost once linked to a patient chart. If there were a referral tab where all referrals could go, while being linked to the patient, it would make that part easier for referral coordinators. Also, if we could get a preview of the fax when creating a task, that would be great. sometimes I task the wrong item or I have to double check myself because I click the fax and think it's the correct one, but its not, the only way of knowing is by looking at the fax #

it was easy and fast to get where I needed to be
Pros: it was easy to navigate, and get to any tab that I needed with no issues
Cons: I have no negative reviews, everything was handles with no complications

Overall, my experience with this product has been a positive one. Using intramail, Rx history, patient demographics, visit notes, etc., are simple and straightforward.
Pros: Well organized and integrates well with our patient scheduling system.
Cons: I don't like that I can not delete an intramail like you can with a regular email. I also don't like that when an appointment is cancelled in our scheduling system, eCw, it doesn't show that it was cancelled on ModMed.
Theresa L. · Medical Receptionist · Medical Practice · March 5, 2025
Excellent makes my daily practice very efficient
Pros: Combination of streamlined documenting and ease of use
Cons: The I pad format has a lot of extra steps
Jason S. · PA-c · Hospital & Health Care · March 5, 2025
I'm happy with ModMed and have had a positive experience using it for the past year.
Pros: Efficient and helpful for managing daily tasks, leading to a more productive day.
Cons: What I liked least is not being able to set a dark mode
Scarlet B. · Receptionist · Medical Practice · March 5, 2025
Overall, ModMed is easy to use and makes for a seamless check-in process despite occasional glitches.
Pros: ModMed makes for easy check-in/check-out process.
Cons: Glitches in the system have affected our entire workday.
Maya A. · Patient Coordinator · Medical Practice · March 5, 2025
hands down the best app that I have used for dermatology
Pros: love that everything is auto filled for you
Cons: all the updates, and the down times, having to switch between practice and add on
Mazey L. · Medical assistant · Medical Practice · March 4, 2025
everything is so easy to navigate and extremely helpful with getting work done faster.
Pros: I love how easy to navigate and also there is no lagging its a very fast program.
Cons: i dont have any dislikes with it. I think that ieast fast and easy.
Esmeralda F. · medical assistant · Medical Practice · March 3, 2025
Pretty good. Would recommend for comprehensive ophthalmology offices.
Pros: That billing and writing notes are integrated. You can see exactly how much each CPT code charges, and it is easy to run financial reports and sort by many fields. I also liked how easy it is to view/modify the schedule and add time blocks.
Cons: A few issues: 1) lack of follow up on billing. 2) scrolling is backwards/not intuitive on OCTs in image management. 3) updates/changes take a long time-I was told 2-3 years for the OCT scrolling issue. 4) You can't change which fields are "sticky" and some were made un-sticky (such as save fax to patient's chart) which is very inconvenient.
Sheena K. · Physician · Hospital & Health Care · March 3, 2025
ModMed has made my love working in billing so much easier on my day to day assignments.
Pros: I like how easy they make EHRs to find and look at.
Cons: Honestly idk, it’s so great at making it easier idk what more it could do
Ryan D. · Biller · Medical Practice · March 3, 2025
Overall, I love MODMED and would recommend to others
Pros: Ease of navigation.I feel it is easy to navigate from impression to plan.
Cons: I do not like when working out of my task that it takes me back to page one , task one if I click on the actual task. I wish it would stay at the spot within the task list that I am working.
Darla H. · Medical Assistant Biologic Coordinator · Health, Wellness and Fitness · March 3, 2025
I have been using it for over 10 years and have enjoyed using Modmed. It is so user friendly and easy to teach new employees
Pros: Easy to use and navigate. Sets up with our path lab and pharmacies well
Cons: When it goes down and we have to paper chart. Takes me way back
