Pros: Nice and easy to use once everything is all set up and ready to go. Everything feels super secure and has been a real help when communicating with my accountant for tax submissions, reporting etc. The way the system learns the more I use it has really helped make the process even quicker and automate most of my bookkeeping.
Cons: At the start it was a little tricky to get used to everything and I do think that some of the reporting features are a little basic, but they do what they need to do so I can't really complain!

They are very helpful when I do not understand something and they also are willing to look at issues rather than expect me to sort.
Pros: Simple to use and can easily process required documents. The customer services is probably the best part of this company.
Cons: Could do with some more templates and easier to add pages. I think the worst part is the templates they need to bade easier

I can't fault FreeAgent much as they are still the best but I just really wish they would improve on the issues that have been going on throughout the years.
Pros: After using FreeAgent for an additional few years, it is still one of the best cloud accounting softwares in my experience. The price hasn't changed at all.
Cons: Their support is still hit-and-miss, and the changes with the currencies and the bugs with inaccurate balances is still a problem.

We sampled FreeAgent and found it very easy to learn and use and it was easy to get assistance with the support.
Pros: What I like most about FreeAgent is that it is a good way to invoice clients and track payments as well as manage expenses. It is a great product for small businesses. I also like that is uses the cloud.
Cons: The negative about FreeAgent is that ist is based in the UK and only offers free access if you have a bank in the UK. It also does not have tiered pricing like Quickbooks offers.

Overall, pretty good, I didn't use it for to long due to business circumstances but it was good using an accounting softwear once you know how.
Pros: The clean interface, helpful guidance and once you do know how to use it, the ease of use. It made accounting easier and came free with Mettle.
Cons: It is a learning curve and a bit fiddly, but all these softwears are. I did find that if you didn't dial in the account perfectly it did get messy at times.

It has made my yearly accounts so much easier to finish on time with the direct contact with my accountant.
Pros: Easy to use and the constant reminders allow me to update my business records through my NatWest account.
Cons: Was difficult to get my accountant to connect but once this was resolved it was plain sailing.

Freeagent is an easy way of keeping track of company accounts. For a small company such as ourselves, it is important that we have a solid accounting software which dosen't cost the earth. My overall experience was great, and it was implemented well internally.
Pros: I like the UI the most, it's clean and simple. Easy to create company profiles and set up quotes and invoices. Great for when multiple people need invoice the same account.
Cons: There could have been a few more reminders internally when invoices go unpaid. Rather than clicking through the list of accounts.

Pros: With FreeAgent I was able to view the inflow and outflow of monies and the amounts throughout the year without having to generate more detailed sundry reports. Also, it was also helpful that the system would match payments to invoices, therefore the monthly reconciliations only took me a few minutes.
Cons: There is no option for creating the what if scenarios forecasting type of model. At times I would like to forecast future taxes or predict higher expenses as the business grows but FreeAgent does not offer this type of data analysis within the software.

Pros: With FreeAgent I am notified on the next vat filing that need to be carried out which helps me track all my daily obligations well. It has eliminated data entry errors and allows me to ensure that my books are in compliance instead of spending time importing transactions.
Cons: I observed difficulties in managing invoices when the currency used is foreign currency. I could not alter the exchange rates whenever they had disparities I noticed.

Excellent interface and features. It has helped my business manage my finances exponentially.
Pros: FreeAgent is super easy to use and manages my entire business finances from invoices, bills, VAT and personal finance. I like that it also syncs with my banking accounts.
Cons: I do not feel like there are any real negatives with FreeAgent.

Cons: Cost of free agent tool is higher compared to it's competitors

Very good overall experience. Helped me build my business until I was ready to move onto bigger software.
Pros: I really found this software useful when setting up my first business
Cons: It was limited with regard managing jobs and scheduling

Overall I think this is a great application. I don't often need to go searching for answers on how to use it, but when I do, there is also a good knowledge base to fall back onto.
Pros: The best thing about FreeAgent is the dashboard view. From here I can see at a glance how my business is running, with clear visuals giving trends over time for cashflow, invoicing timeline, bank balances, expenses, bills, profit and loss and tax.
Cons: When entering an expense (not using smart capture) it is really easy to put the wrong date in.

Apart from great software, the customer service is amazing. I also get accountancy help. Very easy to understand the layout and add accounts to it.
Pros: FreeAgent is so easy to use. The customer support is fantastic. FreeAgent integrates with your bank accounts (bank feed), so you always have an accurate picture of your finances. NatWest Bank owns FreeAgent, so you know there is a good name behind it.
Cons: In the cash flow projection, one field resets itself, but they have taken that onboard and will tweak the code.
Glen S. · Director · Staffing and Recruiting · November 3, 2024
Really positive and I would encourage everyone running a business to use their software.
Pros: Free Agent came bundled with my NatWest account. It is easy to use with a clear interface and integrates well with my bank accounts. The mobile app is excellent and the support (both technically and professionally) is clear and of good standard. I find their email updates helpful.
Cons: I would like them to be able to import transactions directly from Stripe as a ‘bank account’ as currently you have to manage this manually.
Anonymous User · Director · Computer Software · September 16, 2024
Pros: Ease of use. It is a user friendly software.
Cons: The report quality could have been better. The format used in reports could be improved.
Preeti M. · AVP · Accounting · September 9, 2024
Would recommend for any small business as works really well
Pros: Really great for small business, simple accounting across the board. I really like the dashboard feature.
Cons: I wish the dashboard could be a bit more customisable with options to show reports or category spending as a tile / more configurable layout

Excellent. From sole trader to setting up and managing my solo-company.
Pros: Easy to learn: I could start from recording basic expenses to manage my bills and invoices.
Cons: Not sure. I found harder to understand reports and some initial set-ups because I don't have a background in accounting, but it all made sense whith the help of customer support and later my accountant.
Natalie M. · Design Director - Founder · Design · September 1, 2024
Pros: I enjoy the simplicity in creating new invoices and the VAT breakdown being provided so it is clear to the client. It is easy to either download the invoice as a PDF and email it manually or do so via FreeAgent itself.
Cons: As a new user I have found it difficult to change the status of an invoice ('paid' status in particular).
Ollie M. · Lead SEO director · Marketing and Advertising · June 15, 2024
Pros: I have been using FreeAgent since I registered my company. It handles all my accounting needs. Saves me so much time.
Cons: Categorisation of expenses can be improved. It works so far but wish they had simpler naming.
Thomas O. · Director · Online Media · May 8, 2024
Pros: Easy to manage. links with my bank account.
Cons: Nothing really. All pretty easy to use.
Justine L. · Cleaning company owner · Individual & Family Services · February 26, 2024
A few times, I've had to contact their support. They have live-help and the accountants are amazingly responsive, understanding and helpful. One of the best supports I've had in any software.
Pros: Saves loads of time and is easy to use for a business owner without the need for a book keeper or accounting person. Love the bank imports and ease of reconciliations. RTI and VAT submissions submit to HMRC straight from the software. I could go on and on here, but having had business since 1999, the importance of having great finance management as a small business can't be understated!
Cons: At the moment you can scan/photograph expenses and it can complete the data entry using AI. I can't wait until this can happen for bills too!
Faith A. · Director · Sports · January 30, 2024
Pros: I think FreeAgent does its job well. I've never run into technical faults or found anything I needed to do that it couldn't do. My favorite thing about FreeAgent is that my accountant can access the platform and see everything I can. That makes getting information to my accountants or asking questions incredibly slick.
Cons: I moved to FreeAgent from Xero because it's what my accountant knew how to use. I think Xero has slightly better tech and integrations so I would say I don't find FreeAgent as engaging to use. It's hard to criticize for that though because although it's nice to integrate with other systems, I haven't had any major issues getting information into FreeAgent as required.
Gregory J. · Software Engineer · Computer Software · January 20, 2024
Overall, FreeAgent is perfect for small businesses, it has just enough functions to meet most of our needs and it has very easy navigation, which is great for people who've never used an accounting software before.
Pros: The best thing about FreeAgent is that you can get it for free if you use their offer to set up and use "Mettle" bank account. Also, their menu is perfectly minimalistic to make it fully functioning for our purposes and not making it overwhelming to use.
Cons: Bank reconciliation lacks automation. There is "guess" rules function but you can't modify how it works and it often makes mistakes.
Marius M. · Director · Retail · December 30, 2023
Pros: I've used FreeAgent for years and always found it to be a solid and reliable accounting product. It handles everything, from sending invoices to clients, to reconciling payments, to helping with taxes.
Cons: It could be better at reconciling bank transactions and uploading the same receipts every month could be easier. It's a lot of manual labour.
