StarChapter is a software for chapter organizations that streamlines operations and boosts member engagement. It integrates tools for event registration, membership management, communication, and website administration into one hub. Event registration simplifies sign-ups, logistics, and attendance tracking. Membership management keeps records updated and sends renewal reminders. Communication tools deliver targeted messages, while the website builder creates customized online presences. The software combines emails, event registration, membership, website design, and payment processing all in one place. A StarChapter Project Manager will set up the service, coordinate the project, and train users even when the board transitions.

Horrible
Pros: event reporting.
Cons: StarChapter pay Our Paypal was so much easier to use.

It does some things well but costs way too much for the service and does not continue developing and fixing issues.
Pros: One stop integration of my web, email, registration and payment needs. I like the ability to send emails to non registered members.
Cons: The Cost and the fact that it keeps going up but not adding new features or fixing known issues. Several features or actions require intricate knowledge of how the site works and are buried under several clicks. The amounts deposited to my bank do not match what star chapter reports to me. The amounts often round up a penny in Star Chapter's favor and it makes me go back and edit the journal entries. This is STUPID!!!! I don't care about the penny .... I do care about your system making me do the extra work. Transaction reports do not give me all the info I need for journal entries. I can see buyer, amounts and what event they are for but can not see the details of what was purchased. For that I have to go to another page and view the order itself. Much extra effort that could very easily simply be in the one report.

Our overall experience with StarChapter has been a good one. It makes managing events, dealing with registration and tracking attendance a breeze.
Pros: Star Chapter is great for overall chapter management. With registration and email communication built in, you have an all-in-one system that saves both money and time by not having to use multiple platforms.
Cons: I would like to see more tutorials made available so I don't have to reach out to tech support because I can't find what I'm looking for. Changes can be frustrating without knowledge of coding. Response time seems to be a little longer than when we first started using.

My overall experience with StarChapter has been a positive experience. There is always ways to improve but I am satisfied with it.
Pros: What I like most about StarChapter is that it's easy to navigate and easy to update content. This is the most important aspect for me.
Cons: My least favorite aspect of StarChapter is learning the newsletter function vs other email functions.

We've had excellent experience with Star Chapter. My only problem is I'm the old guy trying to learn the new tech.
Pros: The knowledge of the support staff is always great. When we set up meetings with them their communication is thorough as well as their follow up.
Cons: There is SO much it does and I've not even scratched the surface. I need to set aside time for more training.

So far they have been the best Association Management Provider i have worked with
Pros: Quick response on tickets, core functions work well, and the summary site dashboard
Cons: No roadmap of upcoming features, what features or enhancements the team is working on. No Ability to vote on items in the backlog.
Scott T. · Project Manager · Non-Profit Organization Management · May 13, 2025
I find it hard to use because training is not part of the limited onboarding experience. Lots of training videos if you know what to look for.
Pros: Acceptable functionality. Favorite part is the email functionality and event registration. Lots of training videos if you know what to look for.
Cons: Onboarding and training. Comes with no training except for videos. For 1-1 trainings you need to reach out to StarChapter.
Dale A. · Chapter Admin · Non-Profit Organization Management · May 7, 2025
Pros: It's everything needed all in one place.
Cons: The PCI compliance check process is very confusing. The reports are a bit difficult to find. It's not very intuitive.
Amber V. · Treasurer · Public Relations and Communications · April 29, 2025
We have been able to do more with StarChapter than with our old system because it is easier to use and has a great Knowledgebase to use.
Pros: The membership maintenance is my favorite part. Keeping track of members is critical to our success, and StarChapter does a great job at this. I also love the ease of board transition and how it will update the website automatically.
Cons: I would like to be able to click on a number on the dashboard and it drill down into what makes up the number. Especially the Revenue piece.
Karen C. · Vice President · Education Management · April 29, 2025
After about two years, it has been a mostly good experience.
Pros: We like the fact that automated membership tasks help save the treasurer time.
Cons: The back end is not at all intuitive. It's hard to use unless the user is experienced in website design. Also, we don't like that some countries where we have members are blocked.
Sheila L. · President · Professional Training & Coaching · April 23, 2025
The overall experience has been ambivalent. It works on a base level and meets the needs of pre-2020 associations, but don't expect anything more out of it.
Pros: StarChapter is inexpensive, and you get what you pay for. The invoicing system is easy to understand.
Cons: $87
Kelley A. · Chief Operating Officer · Management Consulting · April 22, 2025
Pros: StarChapter is great for organizations because it allows them to keep everything in one place: their website, communications, members/contacts, events, registration, and even the ability to take payments.
Cons: StarChapter can be a little cumbersome to learn how things are interconnected, but once you get the hang of it, you're golden. The Knowlegebase is a great resource too when you're stuck on something you can't figure out how to do!
Bridget K. · Committee Volunteer · Construction · April 22, 2025
My overall experience with StarChapter has been excellent. The customer service truly stands out. I never have to wait long for a response to a support ticket, and the replies are always detailed and helpful. I honestly wish all of the associations I work with were on StarChapter!
Pros: I really appreciate how user-friendly StarChapter is. I’ve been using it for five years now, and even when I first started, it never felt overwhelming especially compared to other platforms I’ve worked with. It’s intuitive, easy to navigate, and has made managing our chapter much more efficient.
Cons: I do wish some features offered more customization, but it's not a significant issue certainly not enough to make me consider switching platforms.
Emely A. · Chapter Administrator · Management Consulting · April 22, 2025
Overall, StarChapter has been a good experience and we will continue to use the product.
Pros: Can download spreadsheets for most everything which makes it more efficient to audit
Cons: Making changes to the website can be more complex than necessary and support is slow.
Robin H. · Executive Director · Non-Profit Organization Management · April 22, 2025
We have been live for less then 2 months and I would say it has been great.
Pros: The availability of being able to do your membership and running a website at the same time. Some of the best features that I like is being able to track the income from meetings online even if they are checks or not. Being new to this site is good and working with people. The fast responses from the questions I ask are a big plus to the whole system. Also being able to see how many visitors and page clicks we have has been cool as well.
Cons: I don't have major problem yet, but the biggest Con I have is that it is a pretty vast system and coming from Nothing to this it just takes time to learn it. It isn't a knock against anything but you just need TIME to sit down and train your own people/team and be able to work through everything. Like I said we came from NOTHING to this system and we are all a group of volunteers trying to do this.
Brock K. · State President · Non-Profit Organization Management · April 17, 2025
Our organization has been using SC for 8+ years. I can do a lot on my own and it is so easy to reach out for help.
Pros: The tech support is amazing. They answer timely and are so helpful via email or on a call.
Cons: There are some aspects of the design that can be frustrating. If so, then I just reach out for support and I'm good to go!
Anne B. · Administrative Assistant · Hospital & Health Care · April 16, 2025
Star chapter is a great website company. They have accommodated our institutions needs.
Pros: When our organization first subscribed to this platform, we were very unsure of theire capabilities. As we increased our programs, Starchapter accommodated us with what we ask for. This website design company is awesome.
Cons: Faster access to questions. The turn around for answering questions is 24 hours. It should be less than that.
Kish S. · System Project Director · Education Management · April 16, 2025
I have been using it for 8 months now. The learning curve was a little steep even though I have a lot of background in content management systems. It does take support 2-3 days to reply to a non-urgent request but they have always been very helpful once they respond or we have a zoom meeting.
Pros: Support is very helpful; the product meets our needs and the website looks good.
Cons: The back end is logical but not intuitive. Once you know where something is or how to use it, it works great but those things aren't always intuitive.
Lindie H. · COO · Financial Services · April 16, 2025
I’d rate Star Chapter a 5 out of 10, primarily due to the absence of a live support desk during business hours. When an issue arises, I don’t need a solution 24 hours later—I need real-time assistance so I can resolve the problem and get on with my day.
Pros: [sensitive content hidden] did a nice job onboarding me to StarChapter, but then I was left to the 24 hour response tickets. Whomp Whomp
Cons: The biggest con is that there is no immediate help available. You have to submit a ticket and wait 24 hours for someone to contact you to tell you they don't understand your ticket or to give more information. Then, the actual issue never gets solved. The actual software is not as user-friendly as expected and it would be helpful to have a helpdesk available to take calls during business hours. Additionally, I should be able to report on any field captured in my data.
Juliana A. · Executive Director · Civic & Social Organization · April 16, 2025
Very good overall experience. Problems have been worked out and now receive complements on how easy the site is to navigate. Only downside is that we do get spam or phishing emails from Contact Us form submissions.
Pros: Excellent set up process. Our concerns were always addressed. Support after going live has been responsive and helpful also.
Cons: Occasionally we had trouble understanding instructions given in Knowledge Base. There's been a learning curve in understanding how "Dynamic Content" works.
Jan G. · Garden Club · Non-Profit Organization Management · April 15, 2025
Very nice to work with and getting to know all the bells and whistles.
Pros: Customer support is very helpful as we are still trying to learn the system with payment/orders, etc.
Cons: New system for us and just trying to learn all system can do.
Mary Ann C. · Treasurer · Financial Services · March 28, 2025
I am still on the learning curve, but I am considering exploring other options.
Pros: i Am Not familiar with other similar products, so nothing to compare it to. However I was up and running relatively quickly, not efficiently, but operating. The initial help session was very helpful
Cons: Even as a neophyte, there are aspects of the site that I have suggested be improved, yet no action is taken.
Dan W. · Executive Director · Construction · March 27, 2025
It is a good product and helps us with chapter management and event organization. With additional options for reporting and arrangements set up - it would be better.
Pros: There are a lot of support materials and videos, and the knowledge is intuitive and can be learned and applied easily.
Cons: There are very limited options, payment processing is expensive, reporting is static, and it can't be modified a lot. Would like more reporting options and templates.
Tetyana C. · Treasurer · Non-Profit Organization Management · July 26, 2024
The service works well and provides a lot of value.
Pros: Event setup, management, and rsvp tracking are all pretty seamless.
Cons: Costs are high. Annual costs, monthly costs, and per transaction costs add up. Many of our attendees bypass StarChapter and pay at the door to avoid those higher processing fees.
TIMOTHY B. · Partner · Insurance · July 19, 2024
Great company to work with and very helpful staff.
Pros: Ease of use & great customer support and technical support.
Cons: Nothing. We have experienced some glitches over the years that are to be expected with any software program, but you have great tech support!
