Paylocity is a payroll platform most used by small businesses in healthcare, construction, and nonprofit sectors. Its mobile-first payroll tools—like direct deposit and clock-in/out—are praised for ease of use. However, benefits setup, compensation tracking, and timekeeping may require more admin oversight.

Pros: I am a user of both the online and app product and find it user friendly although the customization is limited.
Cons: It's a very US based platform, so global needs might not be met but anything local to the USA it satisfies.

Pros: There are many things that I like about Paylocity including the beginning of how helpful their team was when we did implementation to our everyday questions we have with using the platform. We have been using it for two years now and questions still come up.
Cons: The one thing that I dislike about the platform is the customization doesn't seem to be there. We are a unique company, and it would be nice if we were able to customize certain things within the system.

Overall my experience with Paylocity has been great. It is easy to use and very intuitively organized.

Pros: Paylocity is quick and easy to use, especially in comparison to similar solutions. It makes it very easy to enter and update time spent working and submit requests for time off.
Cons: I have few complaints, overall paylocity is very good, the one thing I would find useful would be some sort of feature where you can automatically pre-fill your time sheet with some sort of default value based on your regular working hours.

Pros: Easy accessibility to all my data and ability to see my work history and any upcoming paychecks and PTO requests
Cons: There are too many directions you can go and sometimes I am looking for something specific. It would help to have a search ability

After the credentials are entered, the everything is east to use. You do have to a correct phone number to text for additional verification.
Pros: I was able to access my paystubs and W2s. The platform is very easy to use. The layout is one one of the main features I use.
Cons: You have to make sure you have the correct company access code and credentials. They have to be precise.

Overall, Paylocity has been a solid system to work with. It can be a little cumbersome to set up on the front end, but once it’s up and running, it’s very easy to use day to day. The transparency within the platform is a big plus, and support has been helpful whenever we’ve needed it.
Pros: The platform is very user-friendly and easy to navigate, even for newer team members. The customer support has been consistently responsive and helpful whenever issues come up. I also appreciate the transparency-it gives employees clear visibility into their performance and activity at a glance.
Cons: Getting everything set up on the front end can be a little clunky and time-intensive, but once it’s in place, it’s pretty easy to manage day to day.

Outstanding product that makes life easy. Employees love it for tracking pay. Office loves the robust reporting capabilities.
Pros: Paylocity is a comprehensive personnel management solution. It is intuitive, feature rich, and provides value to all users.
Cons: Frequency with which passwords must be reset can be unpredictable across devices, but is by no means a deal breaker.

Pros: User-friendly interface with quick adoption across teams Strong employee self-service (PTO, pay, benefits) reduces HR workload Faster, more intuitive reporting compared to heavier systems Mobile app is reliable and widely used by frontline associates Reponsive customer support and smoother issue resolution
Cons: Limited scalability for complex, multi-site operations Reporting and analytics not robust enough for executive-level decision making Workforce management tools (scheduling, labor planning) are basic Integration gaps with more advanced operational systems Less flexibility to support custom processes and enterprise controls

My first online job of over a year, Paylocity was the program that my employer used. I had no problems finding everything I needed at anytime.
Pros: I liked it he simplicity of Paylocity. It was very simple to sign in and see my pay anytime or anywhere.
Cons: I did not have any cons with Paylocity! I never had any issues with finding my pay information whenever I needed to.

This review is very positive so I would say positive. Something unique is our dedicated client reps were open to discussing upcoming changes in the software and what was coming down the pipe and were always asking for feedback so as a user you always had a sense of buy in on both sides.
Pros: Wow this is a tough one because I have been an ardent supporter and proponent of Paylocity for many years now. The technology, UI, robust set up and the customer set up and support are absolutely outstanding. If you've gotten to a point in your business and HR needs where you've outgrown the smaller options this is hands down the top pick.
Cons: It's difficult to point to anything because any small issues we had such as setting up complex codes or changing GL ledger formats were really self induced or normal change management issues that arise. The support team and our dedicated client reps were always there to bounce ideas off and talk through best practices or what they've seen other clients do in similar situations when you got an odd ball issue.

It does what it needs to do most of the time. Every Once and awhile the gremlins will show up and throw something off and the support will have not answers as to why or off any timely solution.
Pros: I do not know if I have a favore feature. Maybe onboarding it's one of the few place where I seem to have enough control to set thing to our companies needs
Cons: Still customer service. Unless they're selling you something its hard to get in contact with anyone knowledgeable enough to help.
Ryan W. · Benefits and Payroll Specialist · Food & Beverages · April 24, 2026
I had a recent issue where I had some complications with setup of double child support. The Customer Service rep would not process for me but instead gave me 3 different wrong answers for me to process 3x. And when it did not work she "didn't know why that wasn't working". Not only did she waste hours of my time during payroll which is time sensitive. But in the end I was given incorrect information to delete my entire batch and start over which I knew was incorrect. That would involve so much work I would've missed the submission deadline.
Pros: Software is still good. Opinion is the same as far as setup/maintenance and payroll processing. There have been recent updates that are positive.
Cons: Customer service reps are not trained. Paylocity is ok if you are willing to know all aspects of the software or only use the online Knowledge Base assistance provided in the software.

I am happy with the system and service, my client service manager is awesome, very knowledgeable and responsive.
Pros: Once you learn the system, it's very easy to navigate. I also love how I can customize the system to our needs.
Cons: Again, because the system is so robust, there is a lot to learn in terms of additional modules like 'performance' - still working through being able to use all the modules we purchased.
Debbie A. · Human Resources · Building Materials · April 24, 2026
My overall experience with Paylocity is a 8/10. It has came a long way since the company had initially adopted it.
Pros: What I love most about Paylocity right now is the the fresh interface that the system has to offer. Employees mention how seamless the employee self service page is compared to before.
Cons: What I like least about Paylocity, is the difficulty in making adjustments without going through Paylocity Service. There are some things I wish that could be done at the local level.
Aleeka T. · HR generalist II · Broadcast Media · April 24, 2026
Excellent - would highly recommend. They are constantly trying to improve the experience. They are a great partner to us.
Pros: I love how intuitive the platform is. It is very user friendly. I also love the service team. I love all the modules that Paylocity has. It's an all in one product.
Cons: Being nitpicky - some of the integration between modules is not as good as it should be. You should be able to easily sync the info from one module to another.
Brannon J. · Accounting Director · Insurance · April 24, 2026
It's been really good since being able to meet with several reps at varying levels. The customer experience team has been helpful in getting the wheels back on the bus. Our account manager isn't awesome, but there are work arounds for that.
Pros: We had some struggles with Paylocity, but they were quick to resolve them with us, set up recurring meetings, and renegotiate our contract to keep pricing low and competitive. I was super impressed!
Cons: Often, with email responses, the lag in feedback can be excessive. I can wait between 1-5 business days for an initial response, and then resolution may take longer depending on the complexity of the issue.
Katie V. · HR Generalist · Automotive · April 24, 2026
Product was easy to navigate; they just needed better customer support. They also need an employee line when our employees call for help in getting access to log in.
Pros: It was easy to learn and navigate through. I managed to learn most of the system on my own. Other than customer support and customer service it was great.
Cons: Customer service and support. Whenever I called in for help I got a little attitude and most of the time, I was told someone will get back to me after they look int the situation and I sometimes I was the one calling back to follow up.
Sophie C. · HR Manager · Hospitality · April 22, 2026
My experience was excellent. My associates love it too because they have a way to connect and communicate with other associates and managers
Pros: Paylocity is the go-to for HRIS systems! It is so very easy to use and the implementation was super easy
Cons: There was nothing that I felt was not good about the features in Paylocity -best in the game-top tier
Dionna T. · Chief Officer of People and Culture · Retail · April 21, 2026
Been using it for months now. The onboarding experience was not good. Poor communication. they did not do the setup correctly or timely.
Pros: The price is good. When i have called, I get someone who can answer my questions. The mobile app gives plenty of information, so that is nice
Cons: It is one of the most convoluted, confusing payroll programs i have ever seen. And have been involved with payroll systems since the mid 1980's. The user interface makes no sense what-so-ever. The online help , doesn't help. Th time and attendance is pretty bad. No really data validation. very hard to to integrate the timesheet with payroll. two different people were involved, and they still did not set up the configuration correctly. The reporting system is...very unusual.

poor. Not happy with the limited training which resulted in having to contact account manager for simple things
Pros: Ease of use for our employees and the cost associated with the product. Adaptability to our systems company wide.
Cons: limited training for the end users which resulted in having to contact the account manager numerous times. rushed to get set up
Armando M. · HR director · Newspapers · April 15, 2026
Overall, I would recommend Paylocity to any company as we have had a great experience transitioning over to them. Super easy to use and essential for our day to day work.
Pros: What I like the most about Paylocity is how easy it is to use and all the features it has available to the company. The time tracking is nice and easy to use with no lagging or issues. Our company loves to inlude updates and news on the app as well which is very useful! Great value as well!
Cons: We just recently swicthed to Paylocity and have not found anything that we do not like! It has been a smooth and easy transition!
LISSETTE E. · billing specialist · Medical Practice · April 13, 2026
Pros: Paylocity streamlines the hiring process by allowing employees to fill out their paperwork from a mobile device, and upload necessary documents. This makes orientation days much quicker.
Cons: I did not experience any issues or negative feedback when using Paylocity. It is simple and straightforward.
Leahya W. · Concessions Lead · Recreational Facilities and Services · April 10, 2026
I am still learning, but I like the features. We are primarily using it for time cards and performance reviews so far.
Pros: I like that my employees can keep track of their time and clock in and out as much as needed. I also like the option to keep their performance reviews organized.
Cons: Sometimes, it takes me a little while to navigate to the right place to approve the time cards. One time, I approved the wrong pay period that hadn’t even occurred.
Kelly P. · Director of Admissions · Education Management · April 10, 2026
Pros: Paylocity is very easy to use to find my pay stubs and tax forms, it also lets me see if I have time that I can request off
Cons: Sometimes when accessing the self-service portal the whole page zooms out and it's really small and I have to zoom in just to see what I'm trying to do
Tazla R. · Crew · Food & Beverages · April 9, 2026
Pros: There was a lot of built-in support and guidance, so it didn’t require a dedicated HRIS person to manage or maintain the system.
Cons: The simplicity was a double-edged sword. It wasn’t very customizable, which made it harder to tailor to more complex or evolving needs.
