ADP TotalSource is a human resources (HR) platform used mostly by small businesses in industries like IT, construction, and nonprofit management. It helps teams manage payroll, benefits, and HR tasks in one place. You can count on ADP TotalSource for reliable payroll and easy-to-use employee self-service tools. That said, many teams report slow support and unclear pricing.

It has been great! I can reach out and get any question answered that I need help solving. All the members of TotalSource have been wonderful.
Pros: It helps me manage all the office requirements for health care and payroll that we need. Security for payroll and benefits have been helpful.
Cons: The cost is high for a small company but after many years of being a member it has helped us so much that it is truly valuable.

We have made the decision to partner with another PEO going forward. ADP TotalSource was not the right fit for us.
Pros: Lower benefits cost is the best thing about ADP TotalSource. We saved the company and our employees significant money.
Cons: The Time and Attendance feature is awful. It. Requires so much more work than other payroll company platforms.

Pros: The platform is very easy to use for staff. From the Admin perspective, it is also very user-friendly.
Cons: The cost is high for a nonprofit like ours. The market has other options for similar products for lower costs.

my experience is been positive, especially for handling payroll and compliance in one system. It does reduces manual work and keeps all processes consistent, but it also does require little patience to learn. but Once the everything is set up, it work smoothly and supports operations well.
Pros: I used it in my previous as well as current job , ADP brings payroll, benefits, and HR support into one , which makes daily work easy and easy to follow and understand The compliance guidance is helpful and reduces risk of missing important requirements. Once you learn system, it becomes a reliable tool for managing all HR tasks.
Cons: Some parts the platform feel just a little complicated and takes time to understand. Support is a little slow during busy periods

Overall, my experience with ADP was good. It has a user-friendly interface that is easy to navigate without confusion. It’s also security conscious.
Pros: What I like the most about ADP is the user-interface. It’s quite user-friendly and simple. I liked the fast access to my pay check, pay history and tax as well.
Cons: What I don’t like about the ADP app is that sometimes, it can be slow, taking time to load. Also, there are some occasional system glitches.

Fair - I have been a ADP total source client for 15 years now. Instead of getting better the overall service went down in quality. I constantly have to audit the work product. Also, due to ADP negligence I have surfaced numerous federal tax errors on government programs...
Pros: Attentiveness to getting the payroll run each period, very strong state tax department, 401K program administration runs well.
Cons: Inability to handle complex matters, large bureaucracy, failure to take responsibility for mistakes, many unresolved issues that just die on the vine and inability to offer competitive benefits
Allen G. · President · Financial Services · January 8, 2026
Pros: Coverage. One website for all HR/payroll need. phone service is great. prompt and most agents can resolve issue right on spot.
Cons: webiste difficult to navigate through different field. confused sometimes not direct. or should i say not clear nor direct.
Eric K. · CEO · Computer Hardware · January 7, 2026
Excellent. I couldn't ask for a better support team. From [sensitive content hidden] all the way to [sensitive content hidden] and my 401k, they are always on top of things.
Pros: The team collaboration - I have gotten into an amazing grove with my support people. They make my life so much easier in every aspect from simple questions to more in depth on how the system works.
Cons: The wait time sometimes is horrible to get through to anyone to help. Especially on payroll days. When I am in panic mode and waiting for over 20 minutes it makes me anxious.
Lori L. · Head of People, North America · Marketing and Advertising · January 7, 2026
Very Good, nice people to work with. there are a few different options for additional insurance that we have access to.
Pros: Ease of payroll module and the recourses available. The 800 number is extremely helpful and knowledgeable.
Cons: the fees are high, and I no longer see a benefit of being part of the ADP Medical insurance. Each year the rates are going up as much as if we were on our own.

Overall, my experience with ADP TotalSource has been very positive. The platform delivers a reliable, well-rounded HR solution with simple, dependable payroll processing and strong HR support. The HR Business Partner model adds significant value and provides confidence in handling both routine and complex HR matters. While there are occasional learning curves, particularly within reporting and the available support helps offset those challenges. ADP TotalSource has been a dependable partner that improves efficiency, reduces stress, and supports consistent payroll and HR operations.
Pros: ADP TotalSource has been a great solution thanks to its user-friendly platform, flexible options, easy and reliable payroll processing, and robust reporting capabilities. Payroll is straightforward and efficient, making routine processing smooth and stress-free. The system is easy to navigate overall, which saves time across day-to-day HR tasks. The biggest benefit, however, is the dedicated HR Business Partner that comes with the service. The guidance and support provided are consistently helpful, and I always receive the assistance I need in a timely manner.
Cons: The only challenge I’ve experienced with ADP TotalSource is navigating the reporting section, as the wide variety of reports can make it difficult to quickly locate the specific report I’m looking for, which can occasionally result in wasted time. However, assistance is always available and reaching out for help usually resolves the issue quickly.

I value my partnership with my account manager and she is always in communication and helpful with all of my needs! I feel important and valued!
Pros: I love the partnership I have with my account and payroll managers. They are both very efficient and work with me on all of my needs!
Cons: I would like more benefit options for my employees. I feel like there are limited options. More options focused on health and weightloss is a great option!
Trisha A. · Manager, HR and Administration · Computer Software · January 5, 2026
Responsive to inquiries and concerns, site is easy to use and in general it has been a positive experience.
Pros: Payroll and timesheets are easy to use and they work with me get issues resolved. Benefit enrollment is easy
Cons: Some quirks in the software. EX. People being able to sign in from their phones on the website even though we do not allow it. Pricing
Theresa D. · CFO · Banking · January 5, 2026
We have been using ADP TotalSource for over 10 years now and overall it has been a good experience. I always recommend them to friends and people I know.
Pros: Team support is the best feature for me. They are always ready to help and answer questions we might have.
Cons: There are lots of features and, being honest, we do not use most of them. It's good to know we have the option to use them (if we ever need them) but, for us, it could be less.
Adriano I. · CFO · Retail · January 5, 2026
I’m generally happy with ADP. I think our costs are reasonable and the assistance we get is always pretty thorough.
Pros: There are ample sources and people who can help with whatever questions arise at almost any time, even when our dedicated rep is out of office
Cons: We’ve seen a bit of turnover in our reps. That’s part of life, but you do build a rapport with some of your reps and that can be a difficult adjustment.

The reporting tools are incredibly helpful, providing comprehensive data that allows businesses to track key metrics and trends effortlessly. These tools enable users to make informed decisions with confidence and ensure compliance with various regulations. The ability to generate detailed reports quickly and efficiently is a significant advantage for businesses of all sizes.
Pros: One of the standout features of ADP TotalSource is its intuitive and user-friendly interface, which makes navigating the platform a breeze, even for new users. Additionally, the reporting capabilities are exceptional, offering detailed, customizable reports that help streamline decision-making and provide valuable insights into business operations.
Cons: he primary drawback of ADP TotalSource is the response time from representatives. When urgent issues arise, it can feel as though they are not treated with the same level of urgency by the support team. This is likely because individual representatives are managing more clients than they should, leading to delays and frustration for users who need immediate assistance. Oh and yes, it is getting expensive!

Overall it has been great. We have had a few bumps in the road and had to change our HRBP a few times, but are happy with our current one.
Pros: There are so many things, but number #1 would be all of the different thing it covers that we no longer have to handle internally (benefits, handbook, training, time clock, recruiting). Very modern technology compared to other platforms we looked at as well!
Cons: That we don't have just one individual trained workers comp person. We have plenty of people to help with questions, but I would like one dedicated trained person for our group.
Jasmine W. · Operations Manager · Retail · December 22, 2025
Pros: Security and performance are the things that make adp good. The value of the money also plays a factor.
Cons: Updates and scheduling is some time doesn't work but after talking to the reps things are working great.
Anonymous User · Manager · Consumer Goods · November 9, 2025
Overall, ADP provides a best-in-class offering of HR and Payroll capabilities, which can be scaled to size.
Pros: The design is user-friendly and there is a multitude of tools to choose from. The support is also resposive and professional.
Cons: There are some opportunities for improvement with making menu options more intuitive and reducing the click number
Marina O. · President · Non-Profit Organization Management · October 31, 2025
Overall, it is a system I would highly recommend. ADP's service and technology is constantly expanding and improving.
Pros: ADP TotalSource is a invaluable resource for a small organizations navigating many of the aspects people employment. ADP TotalSource is a full HR suite in an intuitive system to include payroll support, access to competitive benefits, tax filings, workers' compensation, training resources, applicant tracking system, analytics, reporting, time keeping, and performance management, personnel file management, background checks, and data security with a single sign-on.
Cons: The primary challenge I have seen with ADP TotalSource is that sometimes their support team is limited to assist with matters that can only be moved forward by the account HRBP.
D'Ann S. · HR Consultant · Management Consulting · October 18, 2025
ADP TotalSource was a great payroll tool. It was easy to navigate through the website. I would consider going back to them if the higher up management would agree.
Pros: ADP TotalSource is a great payroll tool. I like the ease of use and the availability of my records. I would highly recommend.
Cons: I didn't have any complaints about the system. If there was anything that I didn't like, I cannot think of it.
Debbie W. · Office Manager · Textiles · October 16, 2025
Overall, ADP gets the job done well. I haven't had many issues with ADP. We have been using ADP for the past 10+ years and had upgraded from their RUN system to TotalSource, which is much more comprehensive.
Pros: I like the support staff and that ADP covers all HR releated areas needed for a business. It does save you time having all the tools and ADP available throughout the day.
Cons: ADP is expensive, and the fees are not very transparent. This is the biggest concern that I have with ADP. They don't review fees with you at all, nor do they tell you when fees increase.
Tony K. · President · Automotive · October 13, 2025
Wonderful! All the ADP staff that I have interacted with from the start till now are knowledgeable and helpful.
Pros: It saves me time, which is the most important thing to me. The speed that I am now able to complete payroll allows me to have time access other tasks. The accuracy of employee time clock and the ability to monitor for overtime.
Cons: The learning curve for my employees, because they use to be able to write in their times if they forgot a punch in or out, but during the initial period they'd have to call me or their supervisor to correct their timecards till they figured out how to leave memos. Nothing other than that.
Elizabeth H. · Administrator · Health, Wellness and Fitness · October 13, 2025
50/50, payroll and hrbp are great, lacking in the other areas such as taxes, unemployment reporting and taxes
Pros: payroll and my hrbp. if I leave the platform I would like to take them with me to where ever we take our services
Cons: tax assistance, i have met multiple instances where things are filed behind and have began accruing interest and fines
Ryan F. · hr · Legal Services · October 10, 2025
ADP TotalSource has helped make the day-to-day tasks easier. If you are looking for support in your HR department for a growing business, I recommend ADP TotalSource.
Pros: What we like most about ADP TotalSource is the ability to bring our benefits under one umbrella for easy employee access.
Cons: One option we do not have and wish we did with ADP TotalSource was the ability to add 1099 employees.
Daniel J. · HR Generalist · Hospital & Health Care · October 8, 2025
Our experience with ADP TotalSource has been amazing. Implementation was expedited for us, so that we could start the benefits as soon as possible. Pricing is great. I, as the HR Manager, have all the support that I need to do my job of making sure the company is compliant. We plan on partnering with TotalSource for the foreseeable future.
Pros: I love the amount of support that is available through TotalSource. If I have a question about anything pertaining to HR, all I need to do is ask and I receive an an answer very quickly.
Cons: Our company has been with TotalSource since March. So far, I have not really found a con about working with them. We have had absolutely no issues.
