I didn't get to use Abacus for very long, but the timeframe I did use it, it was very good program to work with.
Pros: I didn't get to use Abacus for very long, but what I saw of the program, it seemed very easy to use and self explanatory.
Cons: I didn't see anything that I disliked about Abacus Law program, so I don't have any complaints about the program.

A very basic service. Treatment and service was the worst I have ever encountered. I would never recommend this to any other business owner.
Pros: It is an extremely basic program - so the software does ok for very basic needs. Their are far superior options at better prices.
Cons: The customer service, lack of transparency. I have never been so disgusted by the treatment I received when I tried to cancel my service after over a decade (to move to another software IN THEIR COMPANY.) I was dismissed, billed without consent and I would strongly suggest law offices use anything other than this software and service.

It was decent program but I feel there was other programs that had better benefits. I’m not sure if it’s improved but the customer service was an issue for us.
Pros: I loved that we can customize templates and that we could set up the files as we liked.
Cons: I didn’t like that we had a difficult time getting into our system if their system was down. It was also difficult to get in touch with support.

Pros: It asks all the right questions and requested a wealth of information on behalf of the client.
Cons: The layout is not user friendly and the fact that the system is not accessible online.

Pros: Searchability of contacts and communications
Cons: Clunky web functionality and user experience.

Pros: Abacus worked fairly well initially as a server based small number of user platform. At the time, few system integrated accounting with the LPM main product. New features were overpromised and half-baked.
Cons: Tech support and customer support evaporated over time. Systems crashed routinely and Abacus had no reliable answers for tech updates from Microsoft.

The program always had issues but over the last year or two, the customer service has been dismal and the problems have been increasing. When the problems have to do with accounting records, it is very impactful and time consuming to fix. It has been a disruption to our daily work without any resolution to the existing issues.
Pros: The program strives to assist with case management, billing and accounting - all within one program, but falls VERY short of achieving its intended goals.
Cons: It is the worst time-consuming inefficient and ineffective program I have had to work with. I've dealt with them for over 12 years and it is getting worst rather than better. It has cost me more money in lost time than I have paid for the program itself. Customer service is also horrible, with no responses being received as to emails, calls, scheduled appointments being missed, etc. The program glitches are a daily issue that slows down work productivity. Unfortunately having all of our records in the program makes the jump to another program complicated so best advice: do not use ABACUS!

Pros: For me, the software runs without a hitch. There are many functions, some of which I haven't yet fully utilized. The scheduling tool is fantastic and very flexible to my needs. Most functionalities are simple to learn how to use. You can carry your job everywhere you go thanks to it.Additionally, the application has a fantastic client database with notes .
Cons: This software usage is effective. apart from The only drawback I can mention is that updating can occasionally be a horrific experience.

Pros: Various and useful features for legal work. Allows to keep files/data organized.
Cons: Graphical user interface is very dated. Support is not good.

I used the software mainly for client case organization. I did not use the software to store documents drafted.
Pros: I really like how it organizes cases and is very user-friendly. It was easy to learn without a lot of training.
Cons: I feel that it could of been a little more easier to use when setting up client information into the system.

Pros: Nothing about it. Poor software for PI cases.
Cons: Everything was terrible about it. It did not work well

Since using AbacusLaw calendaring for trials and deadlines is much easier than before
Pros: Relatively easy to use and set up. Calculates trials, deadlines for various reports and court filings
Cons: The thing I dislike the most about AbacusLaw is the creating of new reports takes more computer knowledge then it should.

Pros: I’ve never had an issue with this software. I can honestly say it’s very reliable and gets the job done. It is also very easy to use and users need minimal to no training/guidance.
Cons: My only complaint is that it looks quite outdated. If that doesn’t matter to you, then this is the software for you. But I personally am not a fan of working with a software that looks like it’s from a different decade.

A NIGHTMARE! Trying to witch but am in contract.
Pros: Great organization of case information integrating every thing about a client into one location.
Cons: Can't use it and it has made other computer programs like Office365 dysfunctional. And worst of all they take over your Office365 account. So you have to go through them. And it is a Kafkeskian Beau acracy as a different department deals with different Abacus issues, and with Office365. I have spent well over two dozen hours setting up this program, my staff has used hours of time and it still doesn't work right AND Office365 on some of my computers doesn't work at all anymore.

I am able to update our dockets and manage our monthly client billing with ease. I occasionally get kicked out of Abacus but overall enjoy the software.
Pros: Creating a docket is simple. We are able to quickly review the attorney notes and provide updates to the clients without having to get the attorney involved.
Cons: I wasn't involved in any training so I'm sure there are lots of features that our office is not taking advantage of.
Erica V. · Paralegal · Law Practice · June 9, 2021
Good
Pros: Ease of use. The software is easy to use. I also like the different features such as pre-bills.
Cons: Time inputting data. I think this would be an issue with any software but just the time that it takes to enter detailed billing information.
Heinrich B. · Attorney · Law Practice · May 25, 2021
Overall it is a good product for scheduling and reminders for upcoming briefs.
Pros: Great use for organizing time off and calendar planning for workload and time off. It is easy to keep track of attorneys scheduling.
Cons: Sometimes times scheduling can look cluttered when the calendar is full. It can be hard to read when everyone is off or in various places
Mercedes S. · Clerk - Senior Level · Legal Services · May 24, 2021
Pros: It has the billing format required to bill certain companies.
Cons: Because our office needs a simple calendar view we have to reset the windows and browsers every day.
Laureve C. · Office Manager · Legal Services · May 21, 2021
Very good
Pros: Set up and ease of use and for billing our clients
Cons: Nothing I do not like about this program

Abacus has always done well at the job we purchased it for - printing out a weekly calendar of events for th entire firm.
Pros: I like never having to enter a case number more than one time - once it's entered, it's always there and does NOT need to be proofed. I also like having the ability to clone entries rather than entering the information again.
Cons: I wish there were an automatic spellcheck of events added to the calendar when that event is saved rather than having to manually use spellcheck on each entry. Better yet - I wish there were a way to use spellcheck all events on the weekly calendar one time when I print it for the week.

We have made AbacusLaw (and Abacus Accounting) work for the way we manage files in our office.
Pros: I like that I can add names like a firm rolodex and then identify them as needed in a matter.
Cons: There are some options that we do not utilize because we don't find them too user friendly.
Penny B. · Paralegal · Law Practice · May 19, 2021
It was a horrible experience. I am happy that we are finally out of AbacusLaw. If you are considering this software please reconsider.
Pros: The software sounds amazing when described by the sales team. Unfortunately they are overpromise and under deliver.
Cons: The cloud functionality does not work, the billing program glitches. It does not sync with outlook. It is a horrible process to be released from the contract. We paid $5,000 for upgrades and customization but never received them. We are now being charged $750 to get our data out after we switched.

When I consistently enter time, the software works smoothly for me. Creating invoices is easy, as is correcting time entry errors. If I fall behind the software has no impediments to catching up on time entries. I've looked at switching to another program and concluded that the benefits of functionality I will not use are not worth the learning curve.
Pros: The bottom line is that Abuscu does everything that I need and has added bells and whistles that would be valuable in my practice. Once I figure out how to use a function it works well for me. Learning how to use most functions easy. Beyond basic time tracking, adjusting my working style to Abacus Law has been an obstacle. The problem is mine than the software. I've learned to use certain functions that would be valuable to me, but I have not been able to adopt them. I don't think another application would be better. The bottom line is that Abuscu does everything that I need and has added bells and whistles that would be valuable in my practice.
Cons: The software feels like it was written 20 years ago and not updated to a better user-interface. I wish that there were a simple to use app for my smartphone. Abacus may have that for its cloud product, but the cost difference made me lose interets. The online help is daunting, but the telephone support is terrific. It's an adequate balance. I wish there was a way to export billing data to Quickbooks. My accountant knows QB. I can't impose on him to learn Abacus accounting. I'm using a program that tracks my computer use by app and even collects screenshots. Something like that would be a wonderful addition.

Great case management solution. Makes practice automation much easier. I've been a user since 2006 because it works!
Pros: Abacuslaw is easy to use (even for lawyers), easy to setup and provides a central case management solution incorporating everything our practice needs from document generation and management, diary/calendar (rules-based features too to help with case workflow), email integration, etc. It is versatile enough to keep us on top of our litigation work (95%) of our practice, but we can also customize its features to handle our estates/real estate files. Keep up the good work.
Cons: I generally hate software that requires an ongoing subscription or nickels and dimes you for every added feature, but Abacuslaw is tolerable in that regard.
