Pros: I like that Chargebee automatically handles the billing and payment retries, as well as the communication with customers about upcoming payments. I like that it integrates with multiple different payment gateways, which allows us to accept a variety of payment methods. I like that I don't have to have a dedicated team of developers working on maintaining our own billing system.
Cons: It can be somewhat challenging to set up and grasp initially. The platform isn’t very beginner-friendly, so new users may need some time to understand how everything works before they feel comfortable using it.

This is used with my pricing and billing and it helps simplify things so much. Having the controls built right in makes things extremely user-friendly.
Pros: This is really great for billing and subscription management, and it’s all done in app. And the self serve portal is extremely user-friendly.
Cons: Overall I wish the initial demo lasted longer before having to dive into the purchase, but I’m still glad I made it.

My overall experience with Chargebee has been excellent. It has successfully transformed our billing from a manual, error-prone process into a fully automated revenue engine. The platform is incredibly robust—it handles everything from complex prorated billing to global tax compliance without breaking a sweat. While the initial configuration took some effort, the peace of mind knowing our 'quote-to-cash' process is automated is worth the investment. It’s a sophisticated tool that feels built for companies serious about scaling.
Pros: The automated dunning management and smart retries are life-savers. We used to lose significant revenue every month simply because of expired credit cards or temporary bank declines. Chargebee handles the follow-up emails and retry logic automatically, which has measurably reduced our involuntary churn without our team lifting a finger.
Cons: he pricing structure can be a bit frustrating as you scale. While the 'Starter' plan is great for small businesses, the jump to the next tier is significant. Additionally, the revenue-based overage fees feel like a 'success tax'—the more you grow, the more they take. I wish there were more mid-tier options for businesses that are growing but aren't quite ready for the full Enterprise cost.

Overall, Chargebee gets the job done and is dependable once everything is set up. It’s a strong platform, but a few usability improvements and support would make the experience even smoother.
Pros: Chargebee is a solid subscription management tool with clean reporting and reliable billing automation. It handles recurring payments well and reduces a lot of manual admin work.
Cons: Some features feel more complex than they need to be. Certain updates or changes require extra steps that aren’t always intuitive.

Chargebee has been a strong backbone for our subscription operations. Once everything is configured, it runs reliably and gives us peace of mind on billing, revenue workflows, and reporting. The flexibility is a real asset, and support has been responsive when we needed assistance. Overall, it has helped us streamline our subscription management and scale in a more structured way.
Pros: I really appreciate it allows us to manage multiple entities under a single umbrella account. The structure is clean and intuitive, and it’s surprisingly easy to configure complex subscription setups. The level of customization is excellent: you can easily adapt billing, invoicing, and workflows to match your internal processes without relying heavily on engineering.
Cons: Some advanced configurations can feel a bit overwhelming at first. The platform is powerful, but navigating certain settings requires time and experimentation, especially when dealing with multientity setups or edge case billing rules. A bit more in-app guidance would make this even smoother.

Overall, my experience is satisfying thanks to its power, flexibility, structured data, and ease of use with CRM and BI tools
Pros: Top-tier billing platform, highly customizable with robust features, plus responsive and helpful support.
Cons: Lack of full customization (especially regarding Webhook behavior) and the tool’s black-box nature sometimes limits control over processes.

Overall it is intuitive to use and it does everything we need. We only talk to them when they're trying to upsell us though.
Pros: That it can accommodate a fairly extensive product suite. We have hardware one time fees and software subscription, so it can be a little complex. Chargebee can handle it all.
Cons: Just little things. Figuring out how to add additional functionality. Not being able to charge customers at the end of the month.

As a startup managing hundreds of subscriptions across web and mobile per day, we chose Chargebee expecting enterprise-grade reliability, trustworthy metrics, and responsive support. Unfortunately, that’s not what we’re experiencing. For weeks, our team has been raising serious issues: ❌ Inconsistent reporting and unreliable metrics ❌ Unclear documentation around subscription statuses ❌ Broken mobile checkout experiences Plus, customer support systematically delays responses and repeatedly defers issues, with promises of updates that never arrive. We opened the latest ticket [sensitive content hidden], and we’re still waiting for answers. Hope this message helps others avoid the same issues.
Pros: Fix the price up to a certain volume. Coupon management module. Nothing more, it was a mistake to adopt it.
Cons: Broken checkout and subscription management mobile experience. Unreliable reporting. Low quality and slow customer support.

Overall, it has been a good experience to enable global payments and subscriptions for our e-learning business.
Pros: Chargebee handles all payment transactions and subscriptions very well. Our users hardly see any issues with making payments for their desired plans, and we like the fact that we can customize our plans, pricing options, discounts, and so on.
Cons: The reporting dashboard could be much better. They've also added a few additional reports, which are behind an additional payment. The configuration could also use additional options, such as coupon codes or custom payment links.

Very positive experience with refined billing software. It is designed for Software as a Service and digital marketing and this is where is excels.
Pros: Very mature, high-quality billing software. It comes with a generous allowance before Chargebee actually start billing you so I haven't paid anything yet! Lots of integrations.
Cons: It has loads of potential. I'm a little disappointed that the WordPress plugin was abandoned, Chargebee settling on iframes instead.

Pros: The idea of it doing what we thought it would do for our subscription service management
Cons: Using Chargebee has never been completely positive, but cancelling Chargebee is an extremely unpleasant experience. When it was finally time to cancel our monthly subscription to Chargebee, we cancelled our subscription well in advance of the next renewal, and we were still RENEWED FOR ANOTHER MONTH AFTER CANCELLATION. We brought this to their attention and they REFUSE TO REFUND US. As a subscription box company, we're up-to-date on all of the industry standards, and they are NOT FOLLOWING LEGAL GUIDELINES FOR CANCELLATIONS. Be very aware that setting up Chargebee is also a huge ordeal, they promise that all functionalities will work, but often they are hidden behind paywalls and / or to use them, you need to exclusively use their full platform, which comes at yet a higher price.

Overall our experience has been fine. Customer support is helpful when needed but the platform is just a little difficult to integrate with our system.
Pros: I like that I can access it from my laptop or my phone when I am out of the office for the day. It is also easy to navigate customers and their subscriptions
Cons: It can sometimes be a little complicated when dealing with customers subscriptions and the ability to modify the start date
Kirsten W. · Head of Customer Success · Computer Software · February 14, 2025
SubscriptionFlow has less responsive support but it worked better
Pros: it kinda works and the user interface is has an attractive appearance compared to some others
Cons: -rediculously long / incomplete implementation -very high cost compared to competition -poor financial reporting tools -poor visibility / access (too many buttons / pages to navigate to see important data) -poor scalability of account management -weak salesforce integration
Anonymous User · Director of Operations · Information Technology and Services · January 2, 2025
So far, so good. the demo was excellent.
Pros: I liked that it simplified revenue reporting, deferred revenue, and allowed revenue projections.
Cons: I didnt like that once a hard close was done on a period, it was not simple to reopen that period - like for audit adjustments.

Very good, smooth integration, no hiccups when completing online payments
Pros: I have used chargebee as a consumer, it has been very smooth and helpful when processing online payments and transactions
Cons: I haven't run into any issues with Chargebee
Tess P. · Customer Care Representative · Health, Wellness and Fitness · November 26, 2024
Pros: It's relatively straightforward and intuitive to use
Cons: There could be further capability in terms of customisation of subscriptions
Kelly H. · Customer Success Manager · Computer Software · November 1, 2024
Pros: Fairly easy to set up subscriptions-based charges, as well as one-off charges. Easy to change customer details
Cons: Seems very clunky sometimes, and UI is not the best it could be
Jace K. · Senior Customer Success Manager · Information Technology and Services · October 25, 2024
Overall, I have had a great experience with Chargebee. In the early days, it did take some getting used to and there was lots to learn about it but now, I find it a great and simple system.
Pros: It's very easy to set up subscriptions. There are lots of checks when setting a subscription up so that you can check that everything is correct before sending it live. Checking and resending invoices and understanding credits is very simple which is great.
Cons: Adjusting subscriptions can be difficult. Often we have to cancel and reset up a subscription rather than simply editing the current one.
Joel C. · Customer Success Manager · Information Technology and Services · October 25, 2024
Pros: The easy of using the organ for a new user
Cons: The over all set of and to speak with customer service
Gina M. · Owner · Health, Wellness and Fitness · September 16, 2024
It hasn't been the most pleasant experience. Our company decided to move to Chargebee at the recommendation of an employee who didn't quite understand the financial side of the business. We are constantly editing subscriptions and it's quite burdensome. If you run a filter on a particular screen and click on a link, it erases the filter. While this software seems to be more efficient from a reporting perspective, it's much more burdensome for the employees doing the actual work. We've been using it for approximately four months and are constantly finding problems with it. We trained ourselves on how to use it before going live to ensure that it performed as expected. We're still not pleased with its performance.
Pros: I like the idea of automated dunning emails and automatic follow-ups for customers. But so far, they haven't worked correctly.
Cons: Editing a subscription is a lot more complicated than other software. I don't like that you cannot easily view a screen that shows paid and unpaid invoices. I don't like that invoices get paid and there are no notifications. I don't like that you cannot enter payment information for a customer. We have fought with customers who previously were on auto-pay to get their information entered into this software. I don't like that once a customer has entered payment details and turned on auto-pay, ALL invoices will get paid once they are created, even if the purchase is not part of the subscription. If a subscription is set for auto-pay and a customer decides to buy training, they should have the option to pay individually. The only way to do this would be to turn off auto-pay every time you run an individual invoice.

Pros: It automatically handled a customer's plan upgrade, ensuring seamless billing without any manual intervention.
Cons: It took me a while to understand all its features and settings, which delayed its implementation into my billing system.
Sneha S. · Software Engineer · Chemicals · July 12, 2024
Overall it's been very positive! Have always received help when needed, and as I have things set up, it runs smoothly and efficiently for my day to day workflow.
Pros: I love how easy it is to grab a link to a plan when I'm in the middle of a call and process payment when a buyer is ready on the spot. Having that functionality helps me move sales along faster and more efficiently.
Cons: It is difficult to navigate the setup and customizations when needed.
Rachel G. · Product Specialist · Information Technology and Services · May 7, 2024
Pros: Great software to gather customer billing info
Cons: Hubspot/CRM integration is not great, we haven’t been able to transfer all necessary info
Nicole M. · Digital marketing executive · Computer Software · April 10, 2024
