Zoho Books helps small businesses manage invoicing, accounting, and financial reporting with minimal setup. It’s most used by finance leads and owners in service-based firms. Reviewers highlight its ease of use and invoice automation, though bank reconciliation and support responsiveness are common drawbacks. Recent updates like cash flow forecasting and vendor portals show a clear push toward smarter financial control.

Very friendly software, great UI and easy to use. Customer service is also very prompt and helpful team.
Pros: It’s genuinely one of the easiest tools to get started with — very intuitive, even for someone who isn’t from a finance background. What stands out is the value for money; you get a lot of functionality without it feeling overly complex or expensive. It’s also one of the most widely used products out there and has really played a big role in transforming how businesses manage accounting today. The flexibility to customize based on business needs is a big plus, and most clients already trust and relate to the brand, which makes adoption much smoother.
Cons: Customization cost can go up at times. There has to be different plans that has to be subscribed to for the customisation to work

Pros: Easy to use, multi-currency support, good customer service (although I haven't had to contact anyone in quite some time), easy customizable invoices, nice interface. As someone doing my own books who's not a trained bookkeeper, this software gets the job done.
Cons: With having to add more customers/vendors to my account over time, the bill has risen quite a bit (CAD$120 back in 2020 to CAD$309 annual today) for essentially the same features. Reporting features can be confusing at times. Searching for transactions can be difficult as you can only seem to search for certain fields that you applied to the transaction. There's no way to search attached invoices or transaction notes for example.

very poor support. No desire to even show how a feature works. Just point to documentation and leave you high and dry No customization capability No automation tools Everything is manual
Pros: The tagging of transactions to different projects Meant mainly for medium and large companies with separate accounts dept
Cons: Not able to handle credit card merchant statements, with the government rules. for e.g. for transactions less than 2000 the MDR is not charged GST. There is no way to handle that other than doing manual entry for each transaction. For a retail business with 1000 transactions a day, doing this is really bad. Zoho support has no solution for this.

It has been very consistent to use it. Their has been no product failures or issues, and new features are regularly rolled out too.
Pros: The ease of usage. I never needed a customer support of any kind. The pricing is also appropriate for mid sized businesses.
Cons: The currency change features are complex. In the same way, making customisations to the invoice format can be a little confusing too.

Zoho Books and all Zoho products is designed with great thought at a price which is throw away. All other accounting users should start thinking how they can upgrade themselves.
Pros: Great value of money, extreme warm and good support, extremely easy to use without the need for any training or support intervention, Payment using Zoho to our vendors is so good, it cannot be overemphasized. Data management is so good, i am uploading all the invoices too in the application. Our customers can see their statement on a real time. Havent experienced any bug, there was one concern which was fixed immediately. and i'd recommend it for both small business as well as large organisation.
Cons: The bank reconciliation process could be simplified where transaction count is high. It is not a con but Zoho could push more feature in the starter plan :)

I started using Zoho for it's affordability and decided to keep it for it's simplicity. Zoho does what I need it to do. The feature I like most is the Estimating and Invoicing. I can keep track of all my clients on one place.
Pros: I like how affordable Zoho Books is, this is a great tool for a small business. Zoho is very user friendly and has costumer support when needed.
Cons: Everything you need to run your business is in Zoho. I do with there was a way to integrate it with other roofing softwares (or maybe there is and I haven't figured out a way yet)

Pros: We've used this for 5+ years now, it does the job of managing our memberships we sell. You can create many types of memberships and everything can be linked automatically with Zoho CRM.
Cons: It lacks a bit of flexibility and the interface is not always clear, you have to dig a bit to find everything you need.
Kevin V. · Product manager · Internet · November 28, 2025
Pros: This is not useful. Initially they will tell all the features are free. After buying everything we have to pay extra amount.
Cons: Customer support is very poor. They were unable to give any solution for my problem even after 7 months time. Don't go with Zoho Books.
Alisodai V. · Proprietor · Construction · October 3, 2025
I used it for a short period of time on a previous job, but I did like that it has so many features, everything a small business needs like invoicing, expense tracking, inventory, time tracking. It's great.
Pros: I love that it's so easy to use, even for people like me who are not accountants. The interface is clean and clear.
Cons: I don't like the limitations for users outside of United States. Some features don't work if you are not in the US.

We slashed billing mistakes and gained better visibility into cash flow. Our audit was shortened as well, as a result of the clean reconciliation and reporting capabilities.
Pros: Zoho Books made our recurring invoicing a whole hell of a lot easier. We saved on manual tracking and reduced late payments with automated reminders and payment follow-ups.
Cons: Bank Feeds will drop from time to time, and re-authentication is necessary to restore. We also had to write a few custom rules for telecom-specific tax logic.

Great experience to use zoho books and highly recommended. Worth of buying it. User friendly approach.
Pros: Easy to maintain accounts. It is easy to maintain inventories and generate Purchase Orders. Affordable cost- wise.
Cons: No negatives found. I find out easy to use from first time and reports are made accurately as output.
Jeyagowri K. · Tutor · Education Management · June 16, 2025
A good piece of software that does what you need it to, but perhaps more suited to small - medium businesses rather than sole traders as quite complex. No real issues, but I did decide to choose an alternative software as it suited my sole trader needs more for a good price.
Pros: It was really useful to be able to link my bank account to the software so that I didn't need to import all of my ingoing/outgoing transactions manually. It also gives a good overview of your profits/expenses/gross profit.
Cons: It was a bit more complicated to navigate than Quickbooks and automating recurring invoices felt a bit fiddly and over-complicated. Another small problem is that it doesn't import your bank transactions until the day after the transaction has taken place, despite refreshing the feed. I like to log my income/expenses the moment the transaction goes through to keep on top of my books.

Christian N. · It manager · Mechanical or Industrial Engineering · June 3, 2025
I've had a very good overall experience with Zoho Books. It helps me keep my finances organized and makes my accounting tasks easier. It is dependable, easy to use, and meets most of my business requirements.
Pros: The simple user interface and ease with which invoices, expenses, and reports can be managed were my favorite features. It is great for small businesses and easy to use.
Cons: The fact that more advanced features necessitate higher-tier plans and that integrations with third-party apps can sometimes feel restricted or a little clunky were the things I didn't like the most.

Looks clean, nothing over the top. You send an invoice, check a few boxes, done. It’s not trying to impress, and that’s fine.
Pros: Helps when you’ve got more than one thing on the go. Quick glance shows what got paid and what still needs nudging.
Cons: Some weird stuff with edits now and then. But it doesn’t get in the way much, which is what matters most really.
Rajesh C. · President · Financial Services · May 26, 2025
It's a complete solution. I also have automated billing I utilize with Zoho Billing and it integrates perfectly. The automated bills get charged and it records the results and if it's paid automatically in Zoho Books.
Pros: Integration with so many other different apps Zoho has in addition to the 3rd party apps. I particularly use the Zoho Billing app they have to bill customers automatically each month and the results are auto-recorded in Zoho Books. I had to do that manually before with other software.
Cons: There were slow to integrate with well known vendors for payroll like Gusto likely because they were coming out with their own implementation of payroll, which is now available for all 50 USA states.

Why I found it the best accounting tool is that it gives affordable pricing for comprehensive features
Pros: Simple to navigate, time tracking for every task, and easy integration into Zoho Mail and CRM
Cons: It may be a bit complex to automate workflows without an external tool
Derek G. · Owner · Accounting · April 2, 2025
Overall Zoho Books is definitely a positive; cost-effective, has about all the features a small business might need. Cloud-based with a solid mobile app so good for being on the go. Free tier offers a low-risk entry point. Not really a seamless alternative to QB but works well for basic accounting and invoicing.
Pros: Favorite feature: automated invoicing and payment tracking. Generating invoices is easy; recurring invoices and payment integration helps with cash flow management. Mobile app is a plus, gives real-time access to financials. Free plan for businesses under $50K in revenue is good and we use it with Zoho Expense and it works seamlessly.
Cons: Limited customization options for invoices and reports. Interface is user-friendly, but not much there for tailoring invoice templates or reports
Ben B. · CEO · Computer Software · March 12, 2025
Hear me out, Zoho Books is my life now. I personally used it for tracking expenses during a busy quarter, and the live reports allowed me to make well-informed decisions regarding budgeting and cash flow. And it has simplified and streamlined accounting.
Pros: I love Zoho Books for how it automates many repetitive accounting tasks like invoicing, tracking expenses and bank reconciliation. For example, it's what I used it to generate recurring invoices for my clients, saving me hours of manual work per month. It also offers great GST compliance features which are a big advantage for my business.
Cons: The mobile app isn’t as functional as the desktop version, and while the reporting options are good, they could be better customized. The upfront setup can also be a time-consuming task for businesses with complex accounting needs.

This program has made my work experience really efficient. Easy to track and keep records.
Pros: Its definitely the features and fits my requirement
Cons: Actually nothing. It is fantastic tool / program.

Zoho books is amazing! From the community forums, I learn that most of the world uses it. The Invoicing, expenses, tax compliance, collaboration and customer support are all top-notch! While there is still scope for improvement, for my use case, it does a great job!!
Pros: The great part about Zoho Books is the dashboard and reports. Dashboard gives a very good overview of the finances and the health of organization. Reports are a great way to break things down for more clarifity.
Cons: Pricing! I find it a tad bit expensive. For a company in a good shape though, it would be a great product but for bootstrapped start-ups, it is a little expensive. They have a free version but I needed some premium features for my use case. They also give out credits for start-ups which could be used for a year. After using it for a year, the software makes you so lazy and you don't want to migrate.

I have loved working with Zoho since it make my work life very simple, turning a quotation to an invoice is all a matter of just clicking a button
Pros: The fact that I can create a quotation and send it directly from zoho without having to download then create an email and attach it
Cons: The fact that you can not edit customer details when you are invoice such as changing the name if it was a quotation.

Ease of use and organization is very good.
Pros: Works good for bookkeeping. Easy to use.
Cons: Customer service is slow to get back with resolution.

Their reporting and time tracking tool is so amazing.
Pros: Zoho Book is quite different from other similar softwares their time tracking functions that make it easy to bill the invoice, their API and their reporting tool is amazing and one of the best thing is their interface.
Cons: Zoho Book Will never disappoint despite of the challenges.
