overall ,for an enterprise environment, PowerBI can add value to a company as reporting and analysis become simpler and fast, but licensing can be costly.
Pros: One of the industry-leading reporting tools in the current market. Relatively easy to generate reports using the drag and drop method. Can be connected with large DBs using connection strings in DirectQuery method helping in live tracking . Fast: large sets of data from different tables can be combined without much operational lag. For a multi employee company, the Power BI portal is really helpful as the user access and permissions are easy to manage.
Cons: The Power BI license for each user is comparatively not cheap. Sometimes the gateway to the specific database makes this a little complex. Premium features need high tier licensing. eventhough report creation is simpler, The DB connectivity , Gateway management, DAX etc. requires techincal expertise.

We use Microsoft Power BI Premium connected to PostgreSQL for organization wide reporting and analytics. It has been a good fit for scaling dashboards to many users, with stronger governance, distribution, and performance than a basic setup. Once the semantic model is properly designed and the refresh strategy is stable, it saves a significant amount of time compared to manual reporting and gives stakeholders reliable, consistent KPIs.
Pros: Strong modeling and transformation capabilities with Power Query Very powerful analytics and KPI logic via DAX once the model is well structured Good report sharing experience and access control via workspaces and apps Fast, interactive dashboards when the model and PostgreSQL queries are optimized Strong ecosystem and continuous product improvements

Pros: I love that it makes it easy to share department data at an executive level without much difficulty.
Cons: There was a definite learning curve to this software. It took me at least five months to get the most out of it.

Pros: Power BI is great for interactive charts, dashboards, and reports, making data easy to explore and understand. Its integration with Microsoft tools like Excel and SharePoint makes it easy to work with. Overall, Power BI is beginner-friendly and enables users to create meaningful reports quickly with minimal setup.
Cons: Advanced features such as DAX formulas and data modeling have a steep learning curve and can be difficult for beginners to master. Additionally, performance can degrade when working with very large or complex datasets, leading to slower report rendering.

Overall positive, it’s a go to tool in our business and has changed the way we interact with our data.
Pros: Fantastic for making inaccessible spreadsheets into easy to use, parse and interrogate dashboards that make the data more accessible.
Cons: There’s a barrier to entry, being able to set up a PBI front end is a skill in itself and they can be prone to break without skilled maintenance.

Overall, my experience has been very positive. Power BI has helped improve reporting and daily operations by providing clear, real-time dashboards. It gives our team better control and visibility over unit movement and accessory tracking. It does take time to fully learn, but once implemented, it becomes an essential tool for operational management and decision-making.
Pros: Power BI is a very powerful tool for data visualization and reporting. I like how it connects easily with multiple data sources and allows you to create interactive dashboards. In our case, we use it as a main operational dashboard to track accessories and monitor real-time movement of units, which helps a lot with visibility and decision-making. The integration with Microsoft tools like Excel and Teams is also a big advantage.
Cons: The learning curve can be challenging, especially when working with DAX formulas or complex data models. Performance can slow down with large datasets, and sharing reports sometimes requires additional licensing.
Rene G. · Quality assurance supervisor · Logistics and Supply Chain · May 1, 2026
Pros: Ability to create dashboards that auto-refresh and pull from a variety of data sources such as excel and a data lake.
Cons: Steep learning curve in how to build dashboards, difficult to find tutorials or help documents for specific issues.

overall, any power limitations are vastly offset by the wide array of presentation and intelligence capabilities
Pros: Power BI offers a powerful, user-friendly, and cost-effective solution for data visualization/analysis. The ability to turn complex data into actionable insights, combined with Microsoft product integrations (Excel, Sharepoint), makes it an essential tool for companies aiming to be data-driven.
Cons: Large models can consistently hit refresh timeout limits or memory constraints, which can lead to service interruptions when working on projects or testing current displays

I've been using Microsoft Power BI since the beginning of the year and it has made my job more manageable with the easy access to and management of reports.
Pros: My company recently started using Power BI to manage the reports we use. Overall it has a friendly, easy to use and view interface. It makes pulling up and exporting reports quick and easy. I also love that everything can now be accessed from my mobile device as well.
Cons: I have yet to encounter any real cons when using Microsoft Power BI. There was originally an issue with the reports updating but I believe that stemmed from my company and if anything it was quickly resolved.
Charlene L. · Center Manager · Education Management · April 7, 2026
Overall, the experience has been positive, especially with customer conversion. In a teams call, we were able to interactvely answer questions about safety in their fleet and review risk hotspots.
Pros: I liked that it allowed our team to visualize the detailed vehicle telemetry and driver evaluator notes on an arcgis map. That was an aha moment for many of our clients, and they realized they wanted us to be their road safety experts.
Cons: The pricing of the top tier (allowing the reports to be publically accessed without a user login) was very cost prohibitive. We would have adopted Power BI fully much sooner if that pricing tier wasnt so high.

Pros: Power BI is a powerhouse of a system. It can do more analysis and manage more databases than I know what to do with! The user interfaces is great and generally easy to use, if you know what you're working with.
Cons: It can be confusing and difficult to learn. That being said, there are many videos and platforms out there that are helpful to learn to use the full powers of the platform.
Erica H. · HR Analyst · Financial Services · March 23, 2026
We use Power BI mainly for financial and operational reporting — management dashboards, trend analysis, and pulling data together from different systems.
Pros: This is a powerful tool with a steep learning curve. Works well with Excel and amazing at pulling data from multiple sources. Also scales well
Cons: This has a steep learning curve and not really for the non-technical user. Sharing reports requires paid licenses which can become expensive depending on your use. Having to republish to update data can be annoying.

I think this is a great system especially for big size companies. It is a great accounting software that has been built great.
Pros: The Pros for Microsoft Power BI my number 1 thing is that it is easy to use. And it is a great database management system.
Cons: I keep thinking of what Cons did I ran into with Power BI but I really can't think of any honestly a great system.
YURI B. · AR · Accounting · March 12, 2026
My overall experience with Microsoft Power BI has been positive. While it can be a bit challenging to learn advance features, it remains a powerful tool for making data-driven decisions.
Pros: What I liked about Microsoft Power BI is how it turns complex data into clear visual reports. The drag and drop interface makes creating charts & reports intuitive.
Cons: What I like least about Power BI is it can be overwhelming for beginners because of its many features and options.
Vicente C. · Quality Technician · Automotive · February 28, 2026
Performance with complex models, plus licensing tiers for some features, add to operational and cost
Pros: connect to many source, shape data with Power Query and publish report without waiting on BI project
Cons: DAX and overall data modeling approach are powerful but not intuitive, star schema take time to learn

We use the Microsoft Power BI mostly for creating dashboards with charts to visualize and analyze our data.
Pros: This tool comes in handy for analyzing the data. We use it also as a database to track some info on our respondents for a more efficient respondents management (with such info as project ID, respondent status: qualified or terminated, etc.)
Cons: Nothing to mention here. It normally fulfills its purpose. It has all the necessary tools for storing and analyzing the data.
Anonymous User · Senior Project Specialist · Market Research · February 22, 2026
Its an okay product with average experience. This product wouldn't be my first choice in data visualization but it gets the job done.
Pros: A great data visualization software. It is feature packed and compatibility in running python scripts.
Cons: Unintuitive user interface could use some improvements with a very steep learning curve, and technical issues may lead to some frustration in user experience.
Anonymous User · Software Developer · Health, Wellness and Fitness · February 14, 2026
I've had the benefit of using PowerBI dashboards at a few different companies that influenced how we made decisions and interacted with customers at a level we simply could not without the tool. I've also had to link up data sources and create dashboards from scratch at my current company, and it required hours of online tutorials and patience on my part to finally get it done.
Pros: The final results of what PowerBI can do for your team/business are incredible. Empowering each team with their own interactive dashboards with data that's specific to their decision-making is absolute gold in business value.
Cons: If you already have a seasoned PowerBI expert on your team, then you'll be positioned to start seeing the benefits a lot faster. However, if you or someone else is starting the setup with no prior experience, there is a pretty massive learning curve.
Matt B. · Director of Products · Computer Software · January 26, 2026
Pros: La création de tableaux de bord est simple et modulable grâce notamment à l'utilisation des filtres.
Cons: La manipulation demande un peu de pratique mais après quelques formations (ou recherches) on arrive à créer ses rapports
Anonymous User · Formateur Technique · Professional Training & Coaching · January 26, 2026
Pros: Power BI is a powerful visualization app that is especially unlocked with knowledge of M and DAX. Some of its visualization options--like stacked charts--are especially useful for visualizing survey data. Its slicers and filters are also an easy way set up templates--which is especially useful for generating reports across different teams or clients.
Cons: While it is primarily designed as an internal business intelligence tool, I wish that Power BI made it easier to share dashboards with users outside of your organization domain.
Anonymous User · Associate Director, Evaluation · Non-Profit Organization Management · January 20, 2026
Once you have learned the basics, you will continue to unlock more powerful and interesting ways to analyze your data and tell a story.
Pros: Flexibility; powerful data analysis and visualization capabilities. Powerful Queries and connections
Cons: High learning curve for most users. Some capabilities, options features, etc. are hard to find and execute properly.

I love how power bi provides a one stop shop for all data analysis from clinical and operational stand points.
Pros: Powerbi give me the ability to track client’s progress, clinical progress, operational data all in one system.
Cons: Sometimes it is confusing to remember which dash provides the information needed at the time but I love how we can also put certain dashes in the favorites.
Catheryn S. · Director of Clinical Services · Health, Wellness and Fitness · January 15, 2026
It has been great, we have set up many different dashboards that I check daily to analyze how marketing and A/B tests are going.
Pros: To create custom dashboards that update automatically with our data pipeline. It's part of an automated process that saves me a lot of time.
Cons: I don't really have anything negative to say about Power BI, it works great for our current use case.
Alex T. · User Acquisition Analyst · Computer Games · January 12, 2026
Pros: It's definitely a very powerful program for creating just about any kind of data report. As a user, I find the reports very helpful, as we are able to pull information from them.
Cons: Creating reports can be a little difficult to get the results that you want. Definitely takes a decent amount of time.

I use Power BI to analyze data and provide reports and dashboards to our ownerships team. It helps me track performance, identify trends.
Pros: We like Power BI because it turns complex data into clear, interactive visuals that are easy to understand and share. It integrates seamlessly with Excel, SharePoint, and Microsoft 365, making it simple to connect and refresh all data to make better, data-driven decisions
Cons: Small learning curves if you are trying to involve a lot of data modeling - may need some programing background or experience - cost also can add up for licensing
