My overall experience is that the cloud-based system allows users to access their financial information from anywhere, and its integration with many third-party apps makes workflow management much more efficient for reporting and any other tasks. It can be accessible through mobile.
Pros: Xero is an excellent accounting platform for small and medium-sized businesses. I really like its clean and easy-to-use interface, which makes invoicing, expense tracking, payroll, and bank reconciliation simple to manage.
Cons: One thing I like less about Xero is that some advanced accounting features can take time to learn for new users. In addition, customer support response times may occasionally be slower during busy periods, and certain features may require higher-priced plans.

Overall, I find Xero very easy to use and it produces the reports we need well. Xero keeps us well informed with changes.
Pros: Bank reconciliations are quick and easy with the "match" function which easily allocates receipts. Being able to memorise bills also saves time entering.
Cons: Lately there have been some software issues which slowed things down, but these happen rarely. Overall performance is great.

Pros: Covers all my needs and more for a solo business. Useful as it's one of the gold standards for accountants
Cons: Overly complex for a solo business owner and therefore too expensive for what I am using it for, but locked in as everything is in there now.

good, not had any major problems. Help area can be a little robotic at times but like the user videos
Pros: Easiness. Transferred from SAGE and it was pretty simple. Help isn’t as good as sage but lots in the help sextion
Cons: Cannot connect to CAF Bank which makes being a charity very difficult when doing the banking element

Very Good. Always helpful. Easy to Use. Glad we use Xero compared to other software options. Payroll user friendly
Pros: Easy to use Easy to reconcile Easy to connect to HMRC & to do VAT returns. Good Customer Support Good mobile access
Cons: Quotes dont turn into invoices easily. invoices would be better if they could show us the whole job price and knock percentages off as we raise different percentages on each job.
Alexis P. · Office Manager · Construction · May 8, 2026
I've been using Xero for six months now and won't be switching at all. The product JUST WORKS and is ideal for UK usage. It has all the correct VAT accounts by default and almost every British accountant has used it so they find it extremely easy to work with for producing business accounts and filing VAT returns.
Pros: How it just works without any training. I am not an accountant whatsoever, I'm just a software developer actually but it was SO EASY to get familiar with Xero. My accountants were impressed at how perfect my books were on it. They were able to produce my UK VAT returns within minutes.
Cons: The UI is very outdated. It looks pretty bad. I use a Chrome extension to make it dark for night time usage. It does feel clunky sometimes going back between pages and seeing old information.

Overall it has been great , I have tried MYOB before but Xero is way more user friendly , fast , cheap and convenient
Pros: The conveniency and the user friendly part , I do use Xero since 3 years now over 2 businesses , simple to learn and so much time saved
Cons: to be honest , everything is pretty great when using Xero , I couldn't fault anything for now beside of the website being off once in a while

Very positive, and I’m very glad we made the switch. The switch from another program took some effort but it’s been pretty straightforward ever since.
Pros: Extremely affordable cost and the functionality is right up there with other name-brand programs. My accountant loves it and funds it very intuitive.
Cons: Honestly, not much. There were a few minor challenges with account setup but xero’s support team was very responsive
Meredith R. · Owner · Health, Wellness and Fitness · May 1, 2026
My overall experience with Xero has been positive. It’s an easy-to-use platform that simplifies accounting tasks like invoicing, bank reconciliation, and expense tracking with strong automation features. It’s especially helpful for keeping finances organized in one place. However, some advanced reporting and customization features can feel limited, and support isn’t always fast, but overall it’s a reliable and efficient accounting tool.
Pros: What I like most about Xero is its clean, easy-to-use interface and automation features, especially bank reconciliation and invoicing, which save time and make managing finances much more straightforward.
Cons: What I liked least about Xero is that customer support can be slow and limited, and some advanced features like reporting, payroll, and customization feel less flexible or harder to use than expected.

For the times i was running a multi-million dollar construction company - to when I branched out into a solo world, Xero was there to hold my hand every step of the way. Faster payments, smoother transactions - hosts of plug-in software to make Xero as unique as your own business. Easy to teach to newbies - fantastic at handling high-level accounting.
Pros: The sheer beauty of the user experience - it has grown and changed but always maintained a fresh and vibrant look and feel - as easy as apple pie ;-)
Cons: The subscription cost for lower end users - they don't really do a 'minimal entry' platform that doesn't hurt your pocket if you're having a rough month. Like all platforms, they have to decide which features that users request will be implemented, and that left some users feeling ignored and out in the cold. It just cant be perfect for everyone, but its damn close!

Xero is one of the best accounting softwares I have used. It's very user friendly and perfect for small businesses. The limitation is for bigger businesses that have multiple subsidiaries, however for small businesses wanting to manage everyday accounting, it's the perfect choice.
Pros: It's very user friendly. The bank feeds, journals, AP and AR function are all very straightforward and the layout is nice to use.
Cons: Importing the chart of accounts can get a bit complicated, but that's expected. There's not much else I don't like.
Jasmine C. · Accountant · Accounting · April 22, 2026
I would highly recommend Xero without hesitation. The platform is great and not difficult to learn, and the customer service is excellent.
Pros: It is very user friendly. We are a small nonprofit without a formal accountant and were able to set up our business and run reports in ways that are simple but useful.
Cons: There isn't anything I don't like. There was some confusion for me around setting up our chart of accounts but I was able to meet with someone from Xero and they solved the problem quickly and gave me a wonderful overview of the platform.
Dasha M. · Consultant · Non-Profit Organization Management · April 20, 2026
Xero makes it easy to connect bank feeds and payment gateways, with smart auto-matching that simplifies reconciliations. Its wide range of integrations also allowed us to build a connected, scalable finance system with minimal effort.
Pros: - Automation of finance tasks: Easy to set up Bank feeds; Easy to send out invoices; Easy to complete reconciliations such as stripe/other payment gateways using automated matching software which frees up a lot of time.
Cons: - Reporting and workflows aren’t very flexible like some other larger ERP systems, which can be frustrating especially as our company grew in size and required more advanced and granular reporting.

I have had good experience so far. They have great customer servive and the GUI is very constructive
Pros: I believe that it is highly intuitive software that helps my business stay productive. It is software that really helps you understand the basic building blocks of your business
Cons: It is restrictive in terms of providing all of the benefits of the financial umbrella. I would like an all-in-one solution
Misha S. · COO · Management Consulting · April 17, 2026
It’s a reliable and user-friendly accounting platform that makes day-to-day financial management easy and efficient. It’s a great option for businesses looking for a simple but powerful solution.
Pros: Very easy to use and makes managing finances simple. The invoicing and reporting features are strong, and the dashboard gives a clear overview of everything in one place
Cons: There are occasional minor bugs, but nothing that significantly impacts use. Customer service slow at times.
Alissa P. · AGENT · Transportation/Trucking/Railroad · April 12, 2026
My overall experience with Xero has been very positive, especially for managing day-to-day accounting tasks efficiently. The platform is easy to navigate, and features like bank reconciliation, invoicing, and real-time financial tracking make routine processes much quicker and more organized. It’s particularly useful for keeping everything in one place without needing multiple tools. At the same time, I’ve found that for more complex requirements, like detailed reporting or advanced customizations, it can feel a bit limited and sometimes requires workarounds using external tools. Despite that, for regular accounting needs and overall usability, it’s a reliable and user-friendly solution that has significantly improved workflow efficiency.
Pros: What I like most about Xero is how intuitive and time-saving it is for day-to-day financial management. The dashboard gives a clear, real-time view of cash flow, bank balances, and outstanding invoices, which makes decision-making much easier. I’ve found the bank reconciliation feature especially efficient, it automatically matches transactions and significantly reduces manual effort. The invoicing function is also smooth, with easy customization and quick sharing options, which helps streamline client interactions. That said, while it’s great for standard accounting needs, it can feel slightly limited when dealing with more complex reporting or highly customized requirements. Overall, it strikes a good balance between usability and functionality, especially for small to mid-sized businesses looking for a reliable, cloud-based accounting solution.
Cons: What I like least about Xero is that some of its advanced features can feel limited, particularly when it comes to highly customized reporting or complex financial analysis. For example, generating detailed, tailored reports often requires exporting data to Excel, which adds an extra step. I’ve also noticed that as transaction volume increases, the platform can occasionally feel slower, especially during bank reconciliation or when loading reports. Additionally, certain features like multi-currency handling or more advanced integrations, are only available in higher-tier plans, which can make it less cost-effective for growing businesses.

Xero is popular for a reason. It is good value for money for a small business. It does almost everything you need it to do. It is scalable and relatively easy to use.
Pros: Xero is a cost effective, professional level accounting solution for small business. It has an easy to use interface, offers plenty of integrations, and the cloud hosting is easily scalable. Banking integration is great.
Cons: Premium features can be costly. Customer support could be better. Reporting isn't as good as the competition.
Paul S. · Software Engineer · Computer Software · April 11, 2026
My overall experience with Xero has been very positive being easy to manage business incomes and expenses.
Pros: Xero is a very beginner friendly accounting tool, it is easy to manage bank accounts with linked reconciliations. The software is easy to navigate and easy to maintain day to day business.
Cons: The issue I have with Xero is posting manual adjustments can become difficult as they have locked nominal accounts.
Lyn J. · Senior Manager · Construction · April 11, 2026
Satisfied. I used xero for over teo years in a Hospitality business, managing over 20 instances of Xero. Never faced any issues.
Pros: It is easy yo use, easy to set up and provides very good user training. Provides room for customisation as well.
Cons: Nothing really. I find it user-friendly. Sighthly difficult to use for multi-entity kind of business.
Pepukai Loyd C. · Senior Bookkeeper · Hospitality · April 10, 2026
For our business, Xero works well. It's relatively easy to use, but perhaps lacks some features which could make life a bit easier.
Pros: Xero is a pretty good invoicing/accounting platform which integrates well into our business. I like the email templates and ability to send quotes/invoices with custom messages, feels personal but is simple to set up. Works well for the amount of invoices we handle (200 a year ish).
Cons: There are certain little things which I have found a little difficult. For example, I can't just paste an address in and it auto-fill the City/Street/Zip code, you have to individual paste in each field. Also, once you have send and invoice, you can't then add automatic email reminders. I also thing the overdue invoice page UI could be improved to help our finance department be a bit more organise, e.g. AI features could work well here (flag invoices which are unlikely to be paid based on past experience or due dates).
Rhys B. · Senior Product Manager · Biotechnology · April 8, 2026
Pros: I really appreciate how easy it is to manage invoices and track expenses. The bank reconciliation feature works well enough for our needs and saves a lot of time compared to our old system. We've also found the reporting helpful for quick insights into our cash flow.
Cons: Sometimes the mobile app can be a bit clunky when trying to input new transactions on the go. It's not a huge deal, but I wish it was a little more intuitive for quick entries. Also, finding specific historical data can take a few too many clicks.
Jesse M. · Senior Accountant · Accounting · April 5, 2026
It was a cheaper option than other software however i wish i hsd looked further into before signing up . Other business had advised me it was eady to use howrver it has took me so much more time thsn a basic spreadsheet and i just cant get away with it . I have had nunerous times onto customer support screen sharing and an onboarding session and still do not like this
Pros: There is a lot of customer support available however its not instant and when your completing your account's you need an immediatre response not a call back
Cons: Its complicated to use and no-one explained you need multiple apps to upload your receipts and bills and pages of uploads banking invoices . I have found it very complex and frustrating
Sharon T. · Managing director · Non-Profit Organization Management · April 3, 2026
Pros: Xero is easy to use and doesn’t require deep accounting knowledge to get started. Invoicing, payments, and bank reconciliation are quick and intuitive.
Cons: Very limiting for more complex accounting needs. Xero seems to be more suitable for sole traders and small companies.
Zach L. · FPA Manager · Financial Services · April 3, 2026
It is a complete accounts package and does everything you could need it to do. It is simple and easily navigable and if there is something you don't know how to do it is often simple to find out how.
Pros: We have used Xero for several years to do our accounting. We moved over from Sage. What I like about Xero is it is simple. Everything is laid out sensibly and it is easy to navigate. There are access to many different pre-made reports as well as the ability to customise and favourite as well. We have this software linked to our Cybake account and send over invoices from there daily. We also raise invoices within Xero itself. We also use it for bills. I use this everyday and have never encountered an issue. When there is something I don't know how to do i have never needed to contact customer support. I just search online to find the answer quickly.
Cons: Some of the pre-made reports have very similar names. Which can be confusing at first until you learn them but that is similar to other software we use or have used in the past. Just means sometimes I click a few different ones before I land on the one I want. Not a big issue.
