Overall, it is a great product to allow our company to know that employees are working when they should be working.
Pros: It allows me to determine if workloads are evenly distributed as well as monitoring workloads to determine if we are overstaffed.
Cons: It is not connected to ADP. I have to closely monitor time off and remove that out of the data. It skews data and cannot be taken at face value.
Lynda D. · Senior VP · Transportation/Trucking/Railroad · May 14, 2026
Pros: What I liked most about ActivTrak is the level of operational visibility it provides. In practice, managers can identify productivity trends, workload imbalances, unused software licenses, or inefficient processes. For example, instead of relying on intuition, you can use actual data to improve staffing, coaching, and workflow decisions.
Cons: What I liked least about ActivTrak is that it requires careful governance and communication. In practice, employee monitoring tools can create trust or privacy concerns if deployed poorly. The real value comes from analytics and coaching, not surveillance. Setup quality and internal transparency are critical.

It was a great experience and gave amazing insights to what the team is doing each day. Ranking sites and apps is very useful.
Pros: I really liked the quick look at the email each week and then I could drill in more as I have time. The dashboards are easy to read as well.
Cons: I didn’t like how my team would show unproductive while on a Teams meeting. I like that my team isn’t multitasking on meetings but don’t want them to show unproductive.

Overall, this tool has been helpful for managing my people and has also been a good resource when have concerns regarding individual productivity.
Pros: I like the ability to define a period and see the activity down to the a particular person and their activities within the systems. I also like the ability to export any report to EXCEL for further analysis. These tools assist me greatly in monitoring the productivity of my employees.
Cons: Using ActivTrak has been a learning process for myself. The learning curve for the supervisor has taken a bit.

Overall, my experience with ActivTrak has been positive. It provides valuable insight into how employee time is being spent, especially with detailed activity tracking and user filtering. However, there are opportunities to improve reporting capabilities, making it easier to analyze and share productivity trends over time. Additionally, enhanced visibility into specific web activity and better management of active versus inactive devices would improve accuracy and usability. With some refinement in these areas and continued support, the platform could be even more effective for managing and understanding team productivity.
Pros: I appreciate the ability to gain insight into how employee time is being spent, especially the detailed breakdown in 5-minute intervals and the option to filter by user. It would be very helpful to have more robust reporting capabilities that allow me to easily view and share employee productivity trends over time. While I can currently pull data using date ranges, having more streamlined or customizable reports would make it easier to analyze and present this information to management. There may already be features available that support this—I did notice ActiveTrak Academy and plan to explore that further. Overall, the platform provides strong value, but improved access to simplified, shareable reports would be a great enhancement.
Cons: I would like greater visibility into the specific webpages being visited, as there have been times where activity is only labeled as “Safari” rather than showing the actual sites. Additionally, the user/device list could be improved—older devices remain listed, and in some cases begin tracking again unexpectedly, which triggers alerts about exceeding license limits. It would be helpful to have a way to view only active devices and better manage inactive ones. Guidance from customer support on how to optimize these settings and improve tracking visibility would also be appreciated.we use a

My overall experience with ActivTrak has been great. You can start taking action immediately and its easy to do a review so you can make decisions on where to put people. It has increased morale significantly.
Pros: The ability to monitor productivity helps us to put the right people in the right places to maximize our workflow.
Cons: Having to categorize all of the different websites to be able to determine the productive work from the non-productive work.
William N. · IT Manager · Law Practice · April 20, 2026
My experience has been overwhelmingly negative. ActivTrak requires a significant time investment just to get it into a usable state, and even then it never feels reliable or polished. Instead of simplifying management and reporting, it adds operational overhead and constant friction. Between the confusing interface, inconsistent outputs, and ineffective support, it becomes more of a liability than a tool. It’s not something you can deploy and trust—you have to constantly babysit it, troubleshoot it, and work around its limitations. There are far better, more mature tools available that don’t require this level of effort just to function.
Pros: Honestly, I hate this product. Even after spending significant time trying to learn it, I still couldn’t find anything that worked well or felt intuitive. I don’t get any real support when issues come up, and every interaction leaves me more frustrated. I genuinely wish I never heard of ActivTrak.
Cons: $8d
Jeffrey H. · President · Computer Networking · April 20, 2026
It is really expensive and sometimes I don't know if it is worth what we are paying for it. But there are times when it is helpful like if an employee forgets to log out etc that I can see those things. Or if I think they weren't working hard etc.
Pros: That I can see what my employees are doing at specific times. And the screen shots/alerts when my employees go to certain sites.
Cons: Sometimes hard to find where to go to see what I want. I wish I had a way to get it on a computer that I DON"T have access to without the employee knowing that I am adding it to her computer. We forgot to add it to a new remote employee's computer and I wish I had a way to add it on without her knowing that I am adding a tracker on. I wish that there was some kind of AI that would say what the employees spent most of their time on each day. And what unproductive things they did each day like a synopsis.

Overall, our experience with ActivTrak has been positive. It has provided helpful visibility into employee time and productivity, allowing us to better understand work patterns and have more informed, data-driven conversations with our team. The platform is reliable, easy to navigate, and offers a wide range of reporting and insights that can support management and accountability. While the tool includes more features than we personally need, ActivTrak does what it is designed to do well. For organizations that want detailed productivity analytics and workforce visibility, it is a strong solution, especially when transparency and consistency are important.
Pros: $8e
Cons: The primary drawback for us has been the cost relative to how we use the platform. We mainly rely on ActivTrak to monitor employee productivity and confirm that time is being used appropriately, but the specific reports we need are only available in the highest-cost package. At the same time, many of the additional reports and features included at that level aren’t ones we regularly use. While ActivTrak offers a robust set of tools, the platform can feel a bit heavy with bells and whistles for organizations that have more focused or straightforward monitoring needs. A more flexible pricing or reporting structure would be helpful for teams that don’t require the full feature set.
Derek D. · Chief Information Officer · Insurance · April 20, 2026
Im able to quickly get what i need. The cost is reasonable. When needing assistance, someone is there to help. Not used reporting, but have been able to export a list of activities.
Pros: I like the most that it is easy to get what i need. Im able to share information with my executives. Can export out files if needed. Our team are able to track time productivity of end users.
Cons: i haven't navigated enough to know what not to like. I have plans this year to venture and user more of the software that it has to offer.
ChoCha' A. · IT Director · Warehousing · April 15, 2026
Overall, my experience with ActivTrak has been positive. It’s a powerful tool for tracking team productivity and gaining insights into how time is being spent. I especially appreciate the visibility it provides into weekly performance, which helps keep everyone aligned and accountable. While there is a bit of a learning curve, once you get familiar with the platform, it becomes a valuable resource for managing and improving team efficiency.
Pros: I like the ability to see my teams productitivity each week. this really ensures we are hitting our goals.
Cons: The platform can feel a bit overwhelming at times, especially when trying to navigate all the features. There’s a slight learning curve, and it can take some time to fully understand how to use the data effectively.
Darian H. · Senior Social Media Coordinator · Marketing and Advertising · April 14, 2026
Overall, ActivTrak has been a valuable tool for understanding workforce productivity and improving operational efficiency. It works best when used as a coaching and insight tool rather than strict monitoring. With the right approach and communication, it provides meaningful data that helps teams improve performance without creating unnecessary friction. It’s reliable, easy to deploy, and delivers solid value for organizations that want better visibility into day-to-day work habits.
Pros: ActivTrak gives great visibility into how time is actually being spent across users and teams. The reporting is clean, easy to understand, and useful for identifying productivity trends without needing to dig through raw data. Setup is straightforward, and the dashboards make it easy to spot inefficiencies, track application usage, and support conversations with employees using real data. It’s especially helpful for remote or hybrid environments where visibility is otherwise limited.
Cons: Some of the deeper reporting and customization options feel a bit limited unless you move up to higher tiers. There can also be a bit of a learning curve when trying to fine-tune categories or interpret certain metrics correctly. Depending on how it’s implemented, it can feel intrusive to employees if expectations aren’t clearly communicated. Pricing can add up quickly as you scale.
Eric C. · IT · Construction · April 14, 2026
I have been an Activtrak customer for almost 10 years now, through more than one organization. ActivTrak is a powerful and easy-to-use workstation monitoring solution that provides clear visibility into productivity and work patterns without being intrusive. Its intuitive dashboards, detailed reporting, and real-time insights help teams make data-driven decisions, improve efficiency, and support healthier work habits. Setup is straightforward, and the platform scales well for organizations of any size. Overall, ActivTrak is an excellent tool for organizations looking to better understand and optimize how work gets done.
Pros: Easy Implimentation, Simple Navigation of the Features, Value for your Dollar, Easy to understand the view of Employee Productivity.
Cons: Support is not always the quickest with Response to an issue or Inquiry. At times I have waited over a day for a reply.
Rich W. · Executive Director · Information Technology and Services · April 14, 2026
Decent experience. as an It manager it was easy to setup groups, create accounts, and client configurations. the biggest downside is maybe the UI. it takes a lot of get used to and is not really intuitive when looking at the more advanced features, so alot of my users did not utilize them. Other than that no complaints!
Pros: snapshots that are instant, and discreet client and support is prompt and precise in our experience.
Cons: Ui is a bit dated. Its hard to se some of the features because they are intuitive enough. I even get confused when trying to explain usage and certain features.
Marcus H. · It manager · Staffing and Recruiting · April 14, 2026
When we used the product, it was decent. Also, the reports are good because in a snapshot, we can quickly see the productivity of the team
Pros: The dashboard shows each individual's productivity. This helped us quickly see across departments the work and focus of our employees
Cons: DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE PEOPLE! All they seem to care about is locking customers into auto renewal and charging for another full year, whether you are using the product or not. In my case, the business division using ActivTrak no longer existed, the service was no longer needed, and instead of working toward a reasonable resolution, they kept repeating the same contract language and avoided directly answering my questions. What frustrated me most was not just the invoice, it was the canned responses. I asked for the signed order form, the renewal details, and clear answers to specific billing questions. Instead, I got the same recycled explanation about notice periods. If you do business with ActivTrak, watch your renewal date very carefully, because once they renew you, do not expect much flexibility or a real conversation. My experience was that billing enforcement mattered a lot more than customer goodwill.
Leo P. · CFO · Publishing · March 9, 2026
It was a tug-of-war between high-level strategic clarity and low-level cultural friction. The software provides the "truth" through data, but it didn't easily allow a personalized and understanding approach.
Pros: I found the most value in ActivTrak's ability to act as a protector of your team’s well-being, rather than just being a clock-watcher.
Cons: I find the software’s logic frustratingly narrow. ActivTrak is notoriously bad at distinguishing between someone staring at a screen because they are deeply analyzing a creative problem and someone who has simply walked away to get coffee.
Amber L. · Owner · Consumer Goods · February 20, 2026
I am extremely delighted and love the outcome. While there is improvement needed overall, it's fantastic.
Pros: Got a full team performance in a way I never could before. I very much appreciate the live report in particular the activity log achieved a level of team performance that I never thought possible before. The experience was incredibly rewarding and enlightening, allowing me to see how well our team can work together. This level of transparency helped us identify strengths and areas for improvement.
Cons: The website is a lot and not very user-friendly. The website is quite overwhelming and not very easy to navigate.
Chesky G. · DOF · Utilities · December 18, 2025
It has been a good experience overall. Whenever I’ve had questions in the past and reached out for help, I received a quick response and clear answers. I really appreciate the fast response and support.
Pros: I like than I can break down the activity daily and per person. I really enjoy using this system because it makes tracking and reviewing data incredibly simple and organized. I like that I can break down activity by each person, which helps me clearly see individual performance and accountability. Being able to view the data per day is extremely helpful for daily monitoring, and the weekly breakdown allows me to easily identify trends and patterns over time. I also appreciate that it provides a lot of data, including both active and inactive activity, which gives a complete picture of what is happening. This flexibility saves time and makes managing data much more efficient.
Cons: Overall, the employee tracking system is useful and provides a lot of detailed data, but it can be a little hard to navigate at times. Some features are not as intuitive as they could be, and it can take extra time to find specific information or reports. Once you become familiar with the layout, it does offer valuable insights and tracking capabilities, but the learning curve can be frustrating at first. With improved navigation and a more user-friendly design, this system could be much more efficient and easier to use on a daily basis.
Ashley D. · CCM · Consumer Services · December 15, 2025
Pros: All the data that is available to monitor team activity and performance. It's useful knowing who is working on what and when.
Cons: There are features that I wish were more intuitive. For example I often have to look around in multiple places for things that would make more sense in one place, but are found elsewhere.
Jules P. · Senior Manager, Growth Marketing · Marketing and Advertising · December 15, 2025
4/5. IT is not a bad prodcut. IT has alot of cool features that work and track who is working. Not to shabby.
Pros: The tracking is very nice Mouse Checker is very nice as well I do like the API connections and how simple it is to
Cons: Very hard to automate sometimes, even the rules or the API can timeout or have issues Takes forever to fix the tracking if something happens
Tyler X. · System Admin · Import and Export · December 15, 2025
It is useful for seeing when employees sign in, and out and what they are on during the day. I have been able to find when some employees were working from home and there were no activities or employees are on sites they should not be at work.
Pros: I am able to see what sites people are on, and how much productive time they have had. You can narrow down specific dates and times to look at for groups and individuals. I can get weekly comparison reports for productivity.
Cons: It will show the site someone is on the most and could be something running in the background. When I look at the actual sites they were on it does not match up in the individual items vs. the overall on the first screen.
Bette M. · Supervisor-Trainer · Insurance · December 10, 2025
My overall experience with ActivTrak has been very positive, especially considering the value it provides for the cost. The platform delivers reliable insights into user activity, productivity trends, and workload distribution, which has helped us make better operational decisions. Its reporting tools are intuitive, and the data it provides is easy to understand and apply across teams. While there are areas that could be enhanced, such as more robust visual recording options, the core functionality performs well and consistently meets our expectations. For the money spent, ActivTrak offers strong performance, solid usability, and meaningful visibility into day-to-day operations.
Pros: ActivTrak’s most valuable feature for our organization is its ability to accurately track active time per user. This capability provides clear visibility into how team members spend their time throughout the workday, allowing us to identify productive patterns, spot inefficiencies, and better understand workload distribution. The platform delivers this data in an intuitive, easy-to-read format that supports informed decision-making and continuous performance improvement. By having reliable insights into individual and team activity levels, we can improve scheduling, allocate resources more effectively, and ensure accountability across departments. Overall, the active-time tracking functionality enhances transparency and operational efficiency.
Cons: One limitation of ActivTrak is the snapshot feature, which can feel too restrictive for detailed monitoring needs. While snapshots provide general visibility, they do not always capture enough context to fully understand user activity, especially during critical tasks or potential security concerns. The absence of a true video-recording option further limits the ability to review continuous activity or reconstruct events accurately. Having only periodic images instead of a more comprehensive recording capability can make it difficult to analyze workflow interruptions, investigate issues, or validate productivity trends. Adding a video-based option would significantly enhance the platform’s monitoring effectiveness.
ROBERTO B. · Manager · Architecture & Planning · December 10, 2025
this is a good product for the price. customer support has been very helpful when I have needed them
Pros: setting up the alerts is easy and setting up productive vs unproductive activity is also easy to do.
Cons: cant see live screen shots from users. would be helpful when there is an alert to see video of what they were doing
dawn k. · IT PM · Security and Investigations · December 10, 2025
Having this software gave us levels of transparency into our Sales Development Representatives who were based in multiple locations, without this we would be at a financial and productivity loss.
Pros: Detailed reporting of time tracking and websites visited, this was a key piece of software for us when we had remote staff in both the continental USA and South Africa.
Cons: Having to sign up for 1 year of a license is not my favorite, we wanted to do a monthly and at worst every 3 months,
Craig T. · Director of Marketing · Information Technology and Services · December 9, 2025
If you are looking to monitor employee use, I would recommend this product. It does a good job with screen shots and app usage reporting.
Pros: The layout is easy to get information from. We have been able to gain insights into productivity in ways that were not possible before. It also has not interfered with our Security application. Competitors frequently required constant monitoring to remove false positives for malicious apps.
Cons: I frequently need to remove unwanted users that bring me beyond our license count. Additional functionality that would be valuable is only available in upgraded versions.
