Integrated well with local government GIS. We found the software to easily learn if you have training in other CAD software.
Pros: The ability to quickly develop utility maps from GIS. This software works great for realtime updating of maps on an electronic notebook out in the field.
Cons: It is a Esti software product so it will be overly expensive but you are buying the industry best GIS software

Overall my experience is positive. I use it on a daily basis, it has tools that help us accurately represent our system.
Pros: The ability to use data across multiple platforms. The ease of importing data into other platforms we use.
Cons: Sometimes the software feels clunky. It does feel like it was designed by data analysists, not people who'd actually utilize it,

I've used ArcGIS since 2002 and have seen the system embrace web-based mapping as opposed to a workflow that solely supported paper based or PDF based static maps

Pros: The ArcGIS eco-system has come a long way and now incorporates mobile workflows and data entry to enable an enterprise-wide solution
Cons: Oftentimes, small bugs and issues can set back operations, but once these are worked out, all functions resume normally.
Anthony P. · GIS Supervisor · Utilities · November 5, 2025
Pros: Large amount of online documentation to assist users in completing their geospatial analysis. Bugs are well documented and work-arounds are available.
Cons: The licensing levels are frustrating. Most tasks can be completed with a basic licence, but when additional licensing is required for a certain tool the software has to be restarted which leads to a 10 minute delay. Working daily with an advanced licence is triple the cost.
Benjamin M. · Civil Engineer · Utilities · July 29, 2025
Pros: The easy of use in the field is a game changer. Without it it would be a nightmare to manage if facilities.
Cons: The lack of a offline mode makes it difficult in areas where we have facilities. Also some of the add in county functions struggle to load.

We have been using ArcGIS for about 6 years to map water and sewer infrastructure. We started our ArcGIS organization from the ground up. It really has been a learning process for us and we are constantly discovering new ways to use ArcGIS to collect and present data.
Pros: ArcGIS is a valuable software that is essential to our operations. We use it to develop maps and then these maps are integrated into other software applications through the API or as standalone web applications. ArcGIS really is the industry standard.
Cons: We have to have someone on staff that is dedicated to running and maintaining our ArcGIS organization. There is absolutely a learning curve.
Kevin S. · Operations · Utilities · June 30, 2025
My overall experience with ArcGIS has been positive, especially for advanced GIS tasks, though it requires patience to master.
Pros: ArcGIS offers a highly intuitive interface, robust mapping features, and excellent data visualization tools for professionals.
Cons: Depending on how the data is structured and how you envision your visualization to look there can at times be a steep learning curve making it challenging for beginners
Daniel H. · Power Platform Developer · Information Technology and Services · June 3, 2025
What stands out is the capability of handling everything from basic mapping to advanced spatial statistics. It offers excellent visualization for map creation and seamless integration.
Pros: ArcGIS has proven to be a powerful spatial analysis tool. The analysis tools make it easy to perform complex tasks and allows detailed / high quality visualization for mapping.
Cons: ArcGis is definitely on the more expensive side but given we are a large corporation the fees aren't too bad. There is also a bit of a steep learning curve. It takes some time to get used to.
Alanna O. · Systems Analyst Trainee · Information Technology and Services · May 27, 2025
Pros: Broad capabilities and a multitude of integrations with other software
Cons: Unexpected errors that shut down the whole program, and some of the interfaces are not intuitive
Anne B. · Cartographer · Government Administration · March 30, 2025
Overall, it’s a robust tool for mapping and data analysis.
Pros: ArcGIS is a strong tool to visualizing and analize spatial information
Cons: The software can be quite expensive for small teams.

In general, it is a nice software that has helped me a lot in my job as an oceanographer. I can visualize or create geometries that can help me analyze coastal features, like the beaches that experience the greatest waves, or the number rivers in any area, or the kind of sediment of the beaches.
Pros: In general, it's pretty easy to use. One of the things I like the most, is that it's really easy to edit features, something that may be tedious with other open-source software.
Cons: I need to buy a license to use certain tools. Also, it's common to experience lags when using raster data. Besides, customer support is not the best quality for this product.
Anonymous User · Consultant · Education Management · January 10, 2025
Pros: Massive range of different mapping and analytical tools suitable for a wide range of abilities
Cons: Can be a very steep learning curve when using ArcGIS Pro (the desktop app)
Antony B. · Database Manager · Non-Profit Organization Management · December 17, 2024
Nothing comes as close to providing a complete feature set as ArcGIS. Yes there may be other commercial providers, but they are usually targeted at specific sectors. ArcGIS can literally accomplish it all
Pros: This is industry standard, vast in scope, and can do pretty much anything in the geospatial space. Don't underestimate how complex the underpinning logic is, however it manages to present relatively complex data manipulation in a relatively easy package targeted at expert of lay person alike.
Cons: Primarily cost - to achieve a "full" license with a spectrum of functionality will have a significant cost base. You get what you pay for and while there are open source alternatives, they don't present such a complete and compelling package.

Pros: The tools (especially geoprocessing tools) provide options to users when developing an interactive map.
Cons: The filling system is not user-friendly.
HAFIZ USMAN A. · Engineer · Civil Engineering · August 25, 2024
It is useful for editing a map of anything you need. You can also create your own featured map with layers. Also, you can download files online to use.
Pros: Implementing layers and maps from online resources is user-friendly.
Cons: ArcGIS software works slowly in Windows. Especially, when a map is loaded it takes time to zoom in or out.
Mahmut Halil Ö. · Researcher · Renewables & Environment · August 24, 2024
Pros: With additional modules, there is nothing you cannot do in GIS.
Cons: It's a pity that the desktop version stays on x86. For x64 the pro version is mandatory, it is very different.
Ali H. · Engineer · Civil Engineering · May 15, 2024
Pros: 1. accessible 2. great for interior/exterior planning 3.Works extremely well for storing data and documents 4. Very clean drawings for stakeholders to use
Cons: Takes time to assemble and labor intensive. Once the basic drawings and completed, maintenance of site is pretty straight-forward. I suggest using a AE firm to assist in initial implementation. I did it myself and it was a bit of a steep learning curve.

I highly recommend ArcGIS for users in the urbanism, geographical and territorial fields because it can create any cartography needed
Pros: ArcGIS is a powerful tool for creating maps and analyzing data. It is highly scalable and users can create beautiful cartographies for urban and city planning.
Cons: It can be a little bit complex for new users to understand the platform and its layers

ME HA SIDO DE MUCHA UTILIDAD AL MOMENTO DE PRESENTAR EVENTOS Y LLEVAR EL SEGUIMIENTO DE ESCENARIOS CON UBICACIÓN EXACTA REPRESENTADOS EN UNA CARTA DIGITAL.
Pros: EL MANEJO DE LA INFORMACIÓN GEOREFERENCIADA QUE NOS FACILITA LA INTERPRETACIÓN DE EVENTOS EN EL TERRENO DE MANERA DIGITAL.
Cons: EL PESO DE LA INFORMACIÓN MUCHAS DE LAS VECES AFECTA AL DESEMPEÑO DE LAS COMPUTADORAS QUE NO TIENEN LAS MEJORES CARACTERÍSTICAS, RETRASANDO LOS TRABAJOS.

Over ALL experience is really great and useful with this software I really like it and I can always update my works without any problem, it is a real time saver for me.
Pros: most of what I like about it is that I always can update and modify DATA easily without the need of recreating the whole project.
Cons: I do not like much the paid features for it is so expensive for me so I can not use it and enhance my work.
