The overall teacher experience with Canvas is usually a mix of strong organization and real efficiency, balanced with a learning curve and some occasional frustration.
Pros: As a teacher, what stands out most about canvas is that everything is in one place. I can create assignments, create my announcement’s, and it has built in communication for my students.
Cons: What I like least about Canvas is that there is a learning curve at first. The interface isn’t always intuitive. Simple tasks may take too many clicks.

Pros: What I liked most about Canvas was how easy it made managing classes, assignments, and deadlines in one place. The dashboard provided a clear overview of upcoming tasks, announcements, and course materials, which helped me stay organized throughout the semester. I also appreciated being able to track my progress through grades, feedback, and completed assignments directly from professors. The mobile accessibility and notifications were useful for staying updated on submissions and schedule changes. In addition, the integration of discussion boards, quizzes, and learning resources created a smooth and convenient learning experience that supported both in-person and online coursework effectively.
Cons: especially when multiple classes use different layouts and module structures. Notifications and assignment deadlines can also be easy to miss if professors do not organize the course consistently.

Overall, Canvas gets the job done and makes school life way easier once you get the hang of it. It keeps everything in one place, helps you stay on track, and cuts down on the chaos of juggling classes. Even with a few quirks here and there, it’s still a solid tool that makes managing schoolwork feel a lot smoother.
Pros: Canvas is super handy for keeping all your school stuff in one spot. It’s easy to check what’s due, peek at your grades, and see announcements without digging through a million tabs. The layout is pretty clean, the mobile app works well, and it just makes staying organized feel a lot less stressful overall.
Cons: Sometimes Canvas can feel a little clunky, especially when different teachers set things up in totally different ways. Notifications don’t always show up when you need them, and a few features load slower than you’d expect. Submitting assignments with multiple files can get confusing, and the interface isn’t always the most beginner‑friendly.

Very strong learning platform. Good for schools, universities and training organizations. Easy enough for students and useful for teachers to manage courses online.
Pros: What I liked most is the clean interface and good course organization. Lessons, assignments, files, grades and messages are in same place. It helps students stay organized and teachers save time.
Cons: Notifications can be too much if many courses are active. Also some settings depend on school configuration, so user experience can change from one institution to another.

Overall, my experience with Canvas has been very positive. It was easy to use throughout my entire college experience.
Pros: I like how Canvas is organized. I'm able to see all of my classes and prioritized assignments and projects on the home page. I like how Canvas also allows for real time communication with my professors and my classmates, so we can work on assignments and projects together.
Cons: Honestly, I don't really have any complaints about Canvas as a whole. It's organized in the way that I like and understand so there is not much to complain about personally.

Pros: Easy to navigate, great for managing courses, and smooth communication between students and instructors. Assignments, grading, and collaboration tools work reliably.
Cons: Some features feel hidden in menus, and occasional bugs appear during updates. Large courses can load slowly.

Overall, I think Canvas is great for both the administrators and the users. It allows for a smooth process between both parties.
Pros: This app is very nicely organized and easy to navigate. It has so many different features that allows for customizations.
Cons: What I like the least about Canvas is how the cost of quite high. However, the cost accounts for all of the personalizable features.

Overall, my experiences using Canvas have been great, I use it for my online classes and my half and half classes that are dual credit through SEMO. Canvas is one of the best things to use for courses in my opinion.
Pros: it is super easy to navigate and manage your student courses, it is easy to do team collaborations and there are never any bugs or issues that I have experienced. It has great customer support and good value for your money. It is super easy to manage courses and figure out what you need.
Cons: Honestly there was nothing I could say that I disliked about Canvas! It is just awesome and so simple, and if you get confused easily, you can always ask for help!

For our school, Canvas has been a godsend. We are able to communicate with all stakeholders using one platform.
Pros: I love how admin, teachers, students and parents can all use this software to manage classes and assignments.
Cons: Freshman students sometimes have a bit of a learning curve when they are first exposed to the software.
Natalie C. · Admissions Coordinator · Education Management · April 9, 2026
Pros: Canvas is intuitive, organized, and makes managing assignments, grades, and communication so simple.
Cons: Canvas can be slow at times, has cluttered menus, and notifications can be overwhelming. I can confused making projects.
Samantha R. · Finance · Accounting · April 9, 2026
Pros: Our school uses canvas and as a staff member I enjoy it for how easy it is to manage multiple student courses at once all in one place. It’s easy to create a shell and customize it for each class. The customer service in helping our teachers and parents is very communicative and helpful.
Cons: The grading system is tricky as there are so many options to choose from on how to grade which is confusing for parents. There are symbols, the ones for missing and/or currently being graded, that confuse parents on their meaning.
Tara C. · School counselor · Education Management · April 3, 2026
Overall, it was great for college, and I enjoyed using it while I was in school. I hope other schools would consider using Canvas to help students navigate the more digital prominent aspect for schools now.
Pros: Canvas looks good, clean and is very easy to use. I used it for the entirety of my college career at two different colleges. It allowed to easily manage my course work for each class and allowed for easy communication with my instructors. I didn't have to pay for the use of Canva... that cost was probably factored into each course cost. They are instances of bugs or issues every so often but usually was resolved with a day or less.
Cons: I remember a few cases where I had to contact customer support to help resolve an issue which wasn't the easiest but compared to other customer supports Canvas support was not as difficult as others.
Kaylee C. · Student Use Only · E-Learning · March 30, 2026
Canvas has been a great learning management system for a student to use that allows you to easily view grades, submit assignments, and create goals to help students get a certain grade in any course.
Pros: Canvas is easily accessible both on the web and your phone. The UI is seamless and intuitive. Your school can even upload a logo on the sidebar to brand the platform when students are using it. Additionally, you can put in scores for any assignment in the grade book to see what your overall grade in the class would be before the instructor even enters a grade.
Cons: Canvas automatically marks assignments as late even if the course did not require any online submissions for the assignments. The instructor access could have better design options so that the instructor is asked if any submission is required for an assignment so it's clear if students must have something submitted or not.
Jesse Z. · Software Engineer · Computer Software · March 29, 2026
Overall, my experience is great. The pros greatly outweigh the cons of the platform and i definitely recommend using Canvas.
Pros: Canvas was awesome for our school. I have used it for 8+ years and it was incredibly helpful to both students and teachers. Assignment tracking, scoring, collaborating, and grading are all great features of Canvas.
Cons: When a student may want to review feedback on an assignment, sometimes depending on what device they're using, the feedback is hard to view.
Anonymous User · Student · E-Learning · March 23, 2026
I have enjoyed using Canvas for many years, and I look forward to using as my main learning management system.
Pros: I like how Canvas can be versatile and incorporate my Google docs and slides to use for my classes. I can easily link worksheets, videos, etc to assign for my classes.
Cons: I feel that many of the apps that can be linked to Canvas are not always available, depending on subscriptions.
Claire S. · Computer Science Teacher · Primary/Secondary Education · March 20, 2026
Canvas has been great. It has been the best online classroom platform I have used, and I have used many.
Pros: I love Canvas for my classes. I love the to-do dashboard. It helps keep me on track with assignments. Each teacher is able to customize their class as they best see fit which makes it a consistently unique experience.
Cons: Sometimes there are graded assignments that don't show up on the dashboard but are due weekly in the modules. I wish there was a way to assign certain pages to certain days like "remember this task" even if Canvas didn't automatically recognize it as an assignment.
Sierra S. · IST - Cybersecurity Student · E-Learning · March 20, 2026
Overall, I have had a pleasant experience with Canvas and have no qualms using it in the future. This is especially the case when compared to other LMS's
Pros: I love its ergonomic settings and how nice it looks compared to learning management systems (e.g., Blackboard)
Cons: I have been using Canvas for years at this point, but the learning curve can be rather drastic for new comers.
Essence W. · University Researcher · E-Learning · March 19, 2026
Pros: Loved the digital-native intuitive tools and navigation, as well as the integrated customizable notifications.
Cons: Feels like they serve redundant notifications. I've configured to only allow specific types of alerts on specific devices within specific time frames, but I still seem to get an abundance of notifications for minor things.
Dan J. · Student · Higher Education · March 19, 2026
Overall, I have enjoyed using Canvas! I have interacted with the platform as instructor, TA, and student and each experience has been good.
Pros: Canvas is a user friendly platform for both instructors and students. It has a wide variety of ways to present and engage with educational materials, and is easy to transfer courses from year to year or even instructor to instructor.
Cons: Canvas is a bit of a heavy lift to get set up at first. Configuring the class modules and adapting for different educational needs (grad vs. undergrad; online vs. in-person) can be time consuming.
Ginger S. · Program Administrator TA · Higher Education · March 19, 2026
Overall canvas is better than other course management programs I would choose it again , bug fixes are always going to be needed with software
Pros: I like that canvas gives an overall list of things that you need to do instead of making you click each individual course
Cons: Canvas has a lot of bug issues so sometimes it won’t recognize an assignment has been submitted creating confusion for users and a lot of emails to the course instructor
Mallory T. · Executive sous · Food & Beverages · March 15, 2026
Great! It is easy to use, and it is very helpful for keeping track of assignments, watching online video lectures, and downloading resources.
Pros: I love Canvas! I've used it in college and in graduate school. Everything is organized and easy to access. It makes tracking assignments and grades across multiple classes easy and organized.
Cons: The commenting and discussion boards are good, but they could be more collaborative. I've had some uploading issues with them before which is frustrating.
Andrew H. · Graduate Student · E-Learning · March 13, 2026
Canvas is an exceptional interface for students to interact with their instructors, particularly helpful in the distance learning environment.
Pros: I like the centralized location and dashboard utilized in Canvas' user interface. I have been a student at a few different organizations over the years, and they all look and function the same way. So convenient!
Cons: Sometimes, the administrators who used the Canvas system did not have the training to make the end user's experience as good as it could have been.
Barry G. · Instructor · Construction · March 2, 2026
Canvas is a staple in the classroom, designed carefully and continues to make valuable improvements.
Pros: Canvas works great on my laptop and phone! I love the choice in designing my dashboard, it submission and schedule features are effective and keep me on track!
Cons: Canvas could benefit from implementing a rewards-based system for younger students to keep them on the application.
