Overall, my experience with athenaOne was very positive. The platform supported efficient patient workflow management and helped simplify many day-to-day administrative and clinical tasks. Compared to other EMR systems I have worked with, athenaOne felt modern, organized, and easier to navigate, which contributed to a smoother experience for both staff and providers.
Pros: athenaOne provided an intuitive and efficient workflow that made daily clinical operations feel more streamlined compared to other EMR systems I have used. The interface was user-friendly, appointment scheduling and patient management were organized well, and the platform helped improve communication and workflow efficiency within the practice. I also appreciated the overall responsiveness and accessibility of important patient information throughout the system.
Cons: Some workflows and customization options could require additional training or adjustment depending on the needs of the practice. Certain updates or workflow changes occasionally created a learning curve for staff members transitioning between processes.

Pros: I like how easy it is to message my care team when I have a question or need to request an appointment.
Cons: I don't like the number of bugs and glitches I've encountered, especially in the past year. I hope it gets fixed.

Athena One is the reason my mental and physical health is thriving again because it notifies me of all appointments, reminds me of all testing needing done and results, and keeps it all organized for bigger situations. Such as important medical appointments for more serious issues.
Pros: Athena One never fails to notify me of my appointment reminders, remind me to do the appointment scheduling necessary with user interface and I have never encountered any bugs and issues. It’s the best option and value for the money with excellent security and 24/7 customer support.
Cons: That I didn’t discover it before wasting time using different appointment managing tools with little to no security regarding my information.

Overall, my experience with athenaOne has been positive. It’s a reliable platform that helps streamline daily operations and improve efficiency. Once familiar with the system, it becomes a very useful tool for managing both scheduling and patient data.
Pros: athenaOne offers a strong all-in-one solution for managing scheduling, patient information, and workflows. The appointment scheduling and reminders are especially helpful, and the system keeps everything organized in one place.
Cons: The system can take some time to learn initially, and pricing may be a bit high for smaller practices. Customer support can also be slow at times.

AthenaOne has made managing my practice so much smoother and more efficient. I truly appreciate how it helps both my team and my patients.
Pros: I've been using athenaOne for a few months now, and I have to say, it's made a world of difference in how I manage my practice. One of the standout features for me has been the automated billing. It's such a time-saver! I no longer have to stress over the small details or chase down payments. Everything is handled smoothly, and I can focus more on my patients instead of paperwork. Another highlight has been the claims management feature. It keeps everything organized and helps minimize any errors. I appreciate that I get regular updates, which gives me peace of mind.
Cons: I did run into some frustrating moments, especially when it came to customer support. When I had a question or needed help, the response time was slower than I expected, which made things a bit stressful. Overall, while I appreciate the functionality of athenaOne, I just wish their customer service could keep up with the rest of the platform.

Ehr with a lot of features, however it is time consuming to use and set up. It does allow for submitting claims easily.
Pros: Highly customizable to your needs. The macros feature is create for routine tasks. The template creation is great.
Cons: Has great features but they are complex to implement (such as coding templates). It is also very structured and only one task can be completed at a time, which is time consuming.

Overall, for being a small business, we did not have a good experience. For the price you are paying, you should be able to get ahold of someone from every department, not have to use a middle man.
Pros: I liked that Athena included everything you would need in the software. It was not the simple version, you were able to do everything from the same software.
Cons: I did not like how athena outsourced quite a bit. Billing was outsourced, so trying to get anything answered on that in was a nightmare.

I think this is a great platform to use when booking appointment and and speaking to your doctor directly.
Pros: I am able to schedule my appointments and talk to my doctor. It is very convenient and easily accessible.
Cons: A lot of times I’m am not able to see many options for appointments but when I called directly, I have more options.
Kathleen A. · Medical assistant · Medical Practice · March 23, 2026
Pros: I like that Athena is fairly easy to navigate. It has all medical records and appointments and a chat to speak with providers which is super helpful.
Cons: I feel like it is SUPER outdated. Seems like the whole app/website could use a revamp and I still don't like that there is no way for other providers to have access.

Overall, my experience with AthenaOne has been positive. I feel it saves valuable time and that benefits both office staff and the patient. The ease of automated billing has really increased our revenue and the speed in which we are reimbursed in our office.
Pros: Athena incorporates everything into one place which is vital for a busy practice. I found this to be a huge time saver as opposed to having to log into several different systems.
Cons: There have been times I had trouble getting thru to customer service/support, however, when I did, they were extremely helpful.

My overall experience with athenaOne has been positive, especially in terms of having everything integrated into one system. Managing scheduling, electronic health records, billing, and patient communication is nice. Patients are not as fond of it.
Pros: Combines scheduling, medical records, billing, and patient communication in one system, which can streamline workflows.
Cons: Messaging notifications can get dropped and document capture can be hit or miss when it's lagging. Also the learning curve is steep, and it's pricey.

Overall, my experience with athenaOne has been positive. It supports efficient clinical workflows and centralizes key functions, though there is room for improvement in usability and customization.
Pros: I like how athenaOne centralizes patient information and simplifies documentation, scheduling, and billing in one platform.
Cons: Some workflows feel overly complex and require too many clicks to complete simple tasks. The system can be slow at times.

Athena Health is one of the best EMR so far that I have used, in the past 8 years, is very AI friendly.
Pros: Security, user interface, messaging, and customer support is very Helpful at times, but over all is a good EMR system.
Cons: Sometimes Athena does not Alert the provider when no pharmacy is available to send any prescriptions.
Diana T. · Clinical Office Manager · Hospital & Health Care · January 15, 2026
Overall I am very happy with Athenaone and wish that my other doctors would have the same type of system available.
Pros: I like Athenaone because it allows me to have access to my doctor/patient information at all times. Its great
Cons: I use Athenaone for a few of my doctors, and most of them allow me to message them through the system, but others do not. i wish is was consistant.
Elizabeth H. · MYSELF · Hospital & Health Care · January 12, 2026
Athena is so easy to use and you could truly learn it in a day with proper training if needed as it is so user friendly.
Pros: There have been some updates to Athena that have made an already user friendly software that much more user friendly. Everything is in one place and I don’t have to search for anything.
Cons: The only con is that some of the exams that I do aren’t matched up to the codes depending on what I pick but it is an easy click to add what I need.

My family primary doctor that works at Family Healthcare Associates uses the "Catalyst Physician Group Athena Patient Portal". During my time with them, Family Healthcare associates has used a lot of other Patient Portals, and as a patient, I can say that I do prefer this Athena Patient Portal.
Pros: I enjoyed the simplicity of the interface, it doesn't feel overwhelming and it's clear options of "Home, Appointment, Billing & Payments, Messages, My Health and Test Results" make it very accessible even for people that have difficultly using/understanding technology, like my mom. Sending and receiving messages was simple, but I would appreciate if it went straight to my phone messages. Overall, I have not encounter any bugs or issues and it makes things like paying bills very easy. It's also convenient that test results and medical records(including shot record) is accessible in one system
Cons: One thing I dislike about athenaOne it how it does not have default Multifactor Authentication, for a health service that contains sensitive medical information this feels necessary. However, there is an option in settings that allows you to enable, still it does feel a little tedious. Furthermore, the initial setup process at first was confusing, however, it was still manageable.

My overall experience is positive as it allows me to have multiple screens open from within the program to properly do my job and keep the patient flow moving and not slowing down.
Pros: What I enjoy most about Athena is the ability to have my billing, schedule, and chart open so I can multitask and complete my day to day work.
Cons: What I least like about Athena is how it takes a while to open anything and, at times, it will freeze when trying to open the documents needed.
Kimberly S. · Patient Service Representative · Hospital & Health Care · December 18, 2025
I use AthenaOne as a patient of a provider who uses the application to communicate with their patients. So far, it has been great.
Pros: AthenaOne is very quick with posting test results and visit notes so that patients can review and consult with their provider about them.
Cons: I personally have not come across any issues to report negatively about. Which is good, as this strengthens the trust I have in the application.
LaWanda L. · Patient Coordinator · Health, Wellness and Fitness · December 15, 2025
Overall, AthenaOne has been a solid EMR for daily clinical use. It improves organization, streamlines communication, and supports consistent documentation, even though the learning curve and occasional workflow inefficiencies require some adjustment.
Pros: AthenaOne offers strong clinical workflows and helpful automation for routine tasks. The integrated scheduling, charting, and billing features work together smoothly, which reduces administrative burden and keeps patient visits moving efficiently.
Cons: Some parts of the interface can feel cluttered, and certain tasks take more clicks than expected. Reporting tools are powerful but not always intuitive, so it can take time to learn how to generate the data you need. Also, it's expensive!
Landon W. · administrator · Hospital & Health Care · December 1, 2025
Pros: Ease of use is great with this doctor office Based company. I love that I can go back and read the doctor’s notes print any doctors excuses? I need and review my bills and pay them all from the same platform.
Cons: I love every single thing about Athena one it is great. Please don’t change anything. Keep it the same.
Brittany S. · Owner · Accounting · November 17, 2025
Overall it is not a horrible EMR, it does have a lot of features that other EMRs do not have. Athena One is expensive, they take over 7% of all the money brought into the practice.
Pros: Athena does have all the bells and whistles for a private practice EMR. It has features for running reports, creating you own reports, care management features, and able to interface with other companies easily.
Cons: If you have a problem you need to solve or you need help with any of the features Athena offers you have to create a case with the CSC. The CSC is not helpful, asking one question takes anywhere from 10-30 min to solve if it gets solved, a lot of the times they have to escalate it to the internal team and get back with you in 7-10 days. Also all of the CSC is hired over seas so their English is horrible and half the time you cant understand what they are saying.
Heather S. · Office Manager · Medical Practice · November 13, 2025
My experience has not been to positive. The cross permissions are a headache especially when we have non-clinical staff get clinical functions when not needed.
Pros: The system has major performance issues every week. The start complains about functions that do not work properly.
Cons: There are too many buggs that require fixing. Every week my practice experience major slowness and functionalities that do not work.
Patricia S. · EHR Support Analyst · Health, Wellness and Fitness · November 4, 2025
My overall experience with AthenaOne has been fantastic. The ease of use for the providers and customers makes this a medical charting system that is wonderful for small business owners and customers alike.
Pros: Appointment scheduling and user interface is of the highest quality with this product. I appreciate the efficiency of improvements and how quick & easy it is for customers to utilize the online version of the appointment scheduling and the customer support that is offered is fantastic.
Cons: At times, the bugs and issues with website improvements can be rather cumbersome. At times, it did take quite a bit of time for the bugs and issues to be rectified.
Laura M. · Parent · Hospital & Health Care · October 30, 2025
Awful. They do not follow up on claims and put claims on hold. The worst thing is that they do not forward correspondence to you from CBE from Medicare trying to recover overcharges. As a result, I did not know what was going on and suddenly got hit with a $6,000 bill from the Treasury Department. This happened twice to me. The CBE people told me that it happens often with Athenahealth. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! YOU WILL LOSE THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS !!!
Pros: The practice management software is fairly good. It is not as fancy or slick as a lot of other programs but this probably allows it to function more quickly over slower internet connections.
Cons: Horrible billing. Holding claims. Never following up on claims and then just stating that it's not their responsibility. They do not forward communications that the Medicare auditors and recovery agencies send to the Athena billing address in Maine. This is a recurring problem.
John S. · Physician · Hospital & Health Care · October 22, 2025
Pros: Convenience for customers, how the interface looks like, How fast can I find necessary information and so on
Cons: Nothing . Maybe because I didn’t use it as much as I need to find minuses but everything was really good
