Overall, we have had a great experience with Toast. The program is intuitive and I love the different subscriptions and programs that are available. Troubleshooting is easy. The point of sale is easy to update and the staff likes the interface.
Pros: Easy to use, in depth reporting, employee time management and scheduling with sling. Fast support response time. Sales data syncs with our accounting system seamlessly and is highly customizable though xtrachef.
Cons: Permission sets for employees can be confusing. We also use xtachef. The xtrachef add on is robust and can be a little counterintuitive

Generally good. Support can be pretty lacking for the backend and a lack of knowledge seems to exist in that regard.
Pros: The retail inventory UI makes it easy to work through inventory trends and identify products for reorder.
Cons: Inability to save table column organization for recall. No report building wizard. OOS items cannot be sold and do not show price when recalled from the POS station. This is a major drag as any incorrectly OOS item really slows down checkout. Showing price would atleast allow for quick checkout as an open item.

Great product easy to use and train employees on. Gives a great amount of important information .
Pros: The ease of understanding daily sales. The mobile app allows me to track Sales when I am off property right on my phone
Cons: They make changes to reports but the legacy reports gave better information. Getting in touch with a sales rep is difficult.

Overall I love using the Toast Pos application to check out at restaurants. It saves so much time and frustration making eating out a pleasant experience.
Pros: As a customer, the toast app has saved me so much time and I can pay my bill right away so my waiter doesn’t have to stop what they are doing.
Cons: What I like least about toast POS is that there can be issues with the payment. Sometimes one side don’t speak to the other side which causes issues.

Does the job for what it is. I use it every time I order from my favorite food spot. No extra fees which is nice.
Pros: VALUE FOR MONEY - no extra fees BUGS AND ISSUES - minimal RESTAURANT MANAGEMENT - decent CARD PAYMENT - does the job
Cons: CUSTOMER SUPPORT - have not had to use, so no complaints SECURITY - have not had problems, unsure of how secure platform is
Adashia F. · Owner · Health, Wellness and Fitness · February 2, 2026
Pros: Toast is best in class not only because of it's commitment to innovation but also the quality of customer service. No matter where I've implemented Toast, even when there were hiccups, customer support was always able to swoop in and provide the necessary resources to sort it out. Plus, they have one of the most expansive integrations stack in restaurant tech.
Cons: I would say the only thing about Toast that I don't like is their pricing for implementing integrations. Because even when the integration is necessary, myself or my consulting clients have a hard time justifying the additional spend over necessary expenses.

Overall, I love Toast. Easy to use, Efficient. User friendly, and gets the job well done. If i were to open a new restaurant, this is what I would use.
Pros: I love Toast. I am a waitress, and whenever I apply for a new waitressing gig, I am always very please if they use Toast.
Cons: There isn't much i don't like about Toast. Its pretty self explanatory and updates fairly quickly. Sometimes most of the aggravations come from managers not updating the information.

I purchased a gift card for someone else on Dec. 24, but the restaurant I bought from was closed, permanently. My first question is why is Toast taking $100 for a gift card when the business is closed? Of course, when I learned the restaurant was closed, I called Toast's customer service. They said I need to get the refund from the restaurant, which is ...closed. They said there is no way for them to refund me. [sensitive content hidden] got right snippy too when I asked for a supervisor. He said I could not talk to anyone else and told me since I have nothing else, he was going to hang up on me. So, basically, I now am out $100 because they have no oversight. Like many of these companies, it's all good until there's a problem. When there's a problem, Toast has absolutely no plan at all for the consumer.
Pros: It was a very easy way to lose $100. They list restaurants, even ones that are not open, so be careful!
Cons: Toast sold a gift card for a restaurant that was no longer in business. They have no customer service for users. None. At. All.

Pretty good! I don’t have a ton of experience with POS systems, but Toast is my favorite of the ones I have used.
Pros: I like that it is cloud based and from the admin side can be accessed from anywhere, allowing for easy remote work.
Cons: The biggest con is that you are not able to export order details into excel to use pivot tables and other excel functions. Als that when viewing an individual check on back end, it is not full screen

My overall experience with Toast POS has been great. The only aspect I don't enjoy is the connectivity issues with external programs. It doesn't happen all the time but when it does, it creates issues. The software runs efficiently and the layout is very organized.
Pros: The aspects I enjoy about Toast POS is the security, card payment options, mobile access, and restaurant management options. I enjoy that the system will lock out after a period of time of not using it; prevents theft and guest information being leaked. I really enjoy that you can have tap-to-pay as an option; this really helps with efficiency. We also use the mobile options for bartenders so they can input the order in real-time while taking the order. Plus, the management options for Toast are very easy to learn and the layout is nicely organized.
Cons: The only aspect I don't enjoy about Toast POS is that it will have a difficult time communicating with an external software (Roommaster). The company I work for uses Toast POS to charge guests to their room number; sometimes the systems don't communicate and tabs are left unpaid.

Overall my experience with toast has been positive, I haven’t had too many bug issues. Easy to use software with a lot of good features.
Pros: Toast is a user friendly POS for restaurant management. I’m able to access the account on the mobile version when I’m not in house. Customer support is excellent and I’ve never had any security issues.
Cons: The price point for toast is higher than a lot of other POS. They do have the most customizable features which helps justify the cost.
Bianca P. · Manager · Food & Beverages · September 25, 2025
Positive. Our team has found most of the features really helpful to our business, and we have 5 different stores, all using toast. We've had a few bumps, but they've never ignored us, or made us wait.
Pros: I've been using toast for seven + years, and the big reason I stick with them, is they are always adding new features. Some, I don't use, but I've always appreciated the new things, along with off line payments when our local provider has issues.
Cons: Pricing. It's not expensive to get into, but they like to add charges ( monthly ) to everything. It adds ups but if it can make you more money, than I don't see an issue with them getting their beak wet

Pros: Software works well and is efficient, if set up appropriately! Hardware is of good quality and works ok.
Cons: Appalling customer service following delivery of hardware. Support is absolutely awful, literally non-existent.
Carl T. · General manager · Food & Beverages · August 21, 2025
Overall, my experience with Toast POS has been great. Programming is relatively easy and intuitive to figure out. The reporting features, tip management, and online ordering are just a few of my favorite things about Toast.
Pros: Ease of use for front of house team members, and guests and the many different features that Toast POS has that can be specified to our needs.
Cons: Support calls can take a long time to get to the right department and have someone know how to fix the issue.
Sara B. · HR Manager · Restaurants · August 8, 2025
I really enjoy using toast! It has great integration with other services & it's ease of use brings me peace of mind being able to trust my team on the software.
Pros: I love how user friendly toast is. They give options to utilize the service in ways that best benefit our business & how we personally operate.
Cons: I think there is a slight lag from when we get updates & when they actually take place. The amount of updates seems like a lot, however I do appreciate the helpful support team when I do have questions.

I really like the system and consistently recommend it to all my clients. Toast POS is reliable, user-friendly, and well-suited for restaurant operations. It has become a key part of how we manage and streamline day-to-day tasks
Pros: I migrated to Toast POS four years ago and have been very satisfied ever since. It’s a reliable, restaurant-focused platform that covers everything from front-of-house to back-of-house operations. The system is intuitive, stable, and continues to evolve with features that truly support daily restaurant management
Cons: Although Toast POS has improved a lot over the years, there’s still room for improvement in the inventory management features. It works for basic tracking, but more advanced inventory controls and reporting tools would make a big difference, especially for multi-location operations
Marcelo M. · CEO · Management Consulting · July 29, 2025
VERY GOOD TO NAVIGATE AND ENTER INFORMATION FOR THE BUSINESS. IT IS EASY TO ADD AND EDIT ITEMS. ALSO TO ADJUST LAYOUT OF THE FLOORPLAN.
Pros: ACCESS TO CHECKS AND REPORTS. JUST WHAT YOU NEED ON EACH CELL. WORKS VERY WELL WITH RESTURANT NEEDS.
Cons: I AM NOT A FAN OF THE WHITE SHELL FOR THE EQUIPMENT AND THE STAND. IT SHOWS MORE DIRT THAT IS HARD TO PREVENT IN THE WORKSPACE.
ELIZABETH W. · company cordinator · Restaurants · July 7, 2025
Overall it speeds profitability through short training, consistent operation, while allowing for quick transaction.
Pros: How user friendly it is for both team members and guests. Transactions are transparent and efficient. I love how small the hardware footprint is.
Cons: The security feature on the setting I have experience with allowed for team members to observe manager passwords and easily exploit.
Eddie D. · General Manager · Entertainment · July 4, 2025
We only did a trial with Toast then decided to use Cake and Square instead. The time we had it we were able to pick up basics quickly and I like the reporting options it had. The cost and hidden fees were not in our budget though.
Pros: Toast is user friendly, intuitive, and simple making it quick and easy for staff to pick up. This reduced training time helps our bottom line and keeps things running smoothly. It also has all the integrations a restaurant would need, DoorDash, GrubHub, payroll, etc.
Cons: The cost was not worth what you get from the software and was much higher than its competitors. While start up cost was relatively low, the monthly fees, hidden fees, fees for every single thing add up and it becomes a very expensive monthly bill.
Jessica R. · Owner · Restaurants · June 18, 2025
It’s been a great platform really helping establish a good sales department and recording all analytic information.
Pros: It’s easy and excessive to use between multiple platforms and systems. This makes it easy to stresmline
Cons: It’s slow sometimes, causing lag in reporting and getting information g the corporate office, could be worse
Jeffrey G. · Events and sales manager · Restaurants · May 28, 2025
Overall experience using Toast is great! We have multiple stations as well as handles for all of our staff to use to help the speed of service.
Pros: Toast is a great POS software that we are using for both of our venues - its easy to set up and have multiple computers being used at the same time for orders.
Cons: As Toast POS is a newer software system compared the others, the customer service side needs a bit of work
Katherine J. · Director of Marketing · Restaurants · May 10, 2025
Pros: Toast POS makes our service faster and more structured. It’s solid for daily operations even if a bit sensitive to internet quality. We use it for speed and tracking, it is a good tool for all our sales teams.
Cons: Sometimes it freezes when the connection is weak, and new staff needs some time to get used to the interface.
Robert F. · Sales Representative · Food & Beverages · May 8, 2025
It’s been great! It’s a very organized software which makes it easy to do things both in person and from home online.
Pros: The pros is a lot of the sales summaries can be located online which makes it easy to look up specific bills etc.
Cons: I don’t love that the POS can only have on bill open at a time. It makes it challenging for buyouts.
Jackie I. · Event sales coordinator · Hospitality · May 5, 2025
Positive, they have live support ready to answer most of our concerns. They have options for screen sharing as well. So you can show them what the issue is right on the POS.
Pros: Functionality, ease of use of the POS and tons of features and options that can be modified to our liking. AI driven campaigns and promos, with real time sales tracking.
Cons: If using multiple restaurants, and one employee works at two of them, the manager even with full access for the first restaurant, it cant make employees changes like wage or permission. That should be fixed by location, because that employee may work different positions with different permission….
Alex S. · Restaurant Manager · Hospitality · April 24, 2025
My overall experience with Toast POS was a very positive one. In the restaurant industry it is imperative to be quick and efficient with entering your orders - since the customer's satisfaction depends on it. With Toast POS, this was very doable. It was easy to access the food and drink menu and modify orders in a timely manner. It as easy printing out receipts and closing out checks after payment. Having a simple yet quick system is imperative to making sure a restaurant runs smoothly - and Toast allows just that.
Pros: I would use Toast when I was working at my waitressing/bartending job. Toast was such an easy system to utilize. I really liked the layout of the ap and the display of the system. It was very user-friendly and easy to access and read which is important for a fast-paced industry like restaurants.
Cons: I've worked in a lot of restaurants before and have used a number of different POS systems and Toast has always been one of my favorite.
