Fair. We didn't use Aplos for much other than their donation vehicle because we were not certain we would keep them, and when we learned about other CRMs, we ended up switching to Neon One, primarily because their price model allowed unlimited contacts and email sends, but also because Neon One seemed more capable, better designed, and still intuitive/easy to learn.
Pros: Their staff assisting with questions were responsive and helpful. They did, however, in the 3-4 years we used Aplos, like many CRMs, I imagine, switch from live human chat support to AI chat support, and email human support.
Cons: The price model: they tiered pricing according to how many contacts you have, so your monthly cost went up the more contacts you added. Further, there were a lot of add-on costs for add-on services.

It's impossible to reach their customer service. I've been trying for 2 weeks and they just hang up on the wait line after 10 mins! I pay more than $100 per month and I am unable to even speak with someone.
Pros: Donor management system is good. You can maintain a database of all your donors and create household links.
Cons: APLOS prides in being the number #1 church accounting software. But it's donation (main revenue for a church) processing system is terrible. 1. To get the donations entered in the software and into the accounting, you need to do multiple steps which are not even linked to the bank integration system. 2. For the contribution statements, there is not too many options to filter. For example, you cannot generate a report on acknowledged/dismissed contribution statements. Why even have these fields if they are not useable? 3. You cannot save the email template so you have to type it over every time you want to email a contribution statement.

Overall I'm glad we switched to Aplos! It's been great. My board likes the reports, I like the ease of use.
Pros: Makes nonprofit accounting easier and more intuitive for people new to accounting in general and nonprofits in particular.
Cons: The report names don't always match what my accountant asks me for so I have to do some digging to figure out what the equivalent report in Aplos is.
Brittany G. · Executive Director · Medical Practice · September 16, 2025
I was introduced to Aplos about eight years ago when I became my churches treasurer. Four years ago I relocated and was asked to take over the treasures position for a local foundation. The foundation was using a software which was not designed for the services it provided, so I brought in Aplos. It has worked very well for the foundation.
Pros: We use Aplos for our foundations accounting and bookkeeping and it works very well for us. It is easy to navigate and provides all the accounting reporting we need. For the money you really cannot beat Aplos.
Cons: I cannot think of anything I do not like about Aplos. I have incorporated it to two organizations I am involved with.

I have had contacts with customer service. The ones I have been in contact with have always been helpful and accommodating.
Pros: This is easy to use. It has a lot of features available for use, and the screen is not cluttered with a lot of unnecessary items.
Cons: While a lot of features are good for larger companies or churches, a lot of small churches may not use all of them. I wish they had smaller packages available for churches that does not need all of them.
Terri J. · Church Administrator · Religious Institutions · May 7, 2025
APLOS makes keeping all of our financial reports in one place possible.
Pros: It's User friendly!! It doesnt take a scientist to figure out how to run the program.
Cons: Nothing-I despise math, and APLOS makes that easier on me and my position!
Tierra C. · Ministry Assistant · Religious Institutions · February 25, 2025
I have used Aplos since 2016 and it has saved me many, many of labor due to its use of use and integration. It is also really easy for a non-accountant like me
Pros: Ease of use and everything stored in the cloud. As well as the ability to give permission to other organization leads to view high level summary of import data and metrics
Cons: A little bit pricey for a small organization
Thomas W. · Treasurer · Religious Institutions · February 11, 2025
Great. We love Aplos and it solved a lot of problems we were having before we finally found it!
Pros: So easy and intuitive to use and they have free customer service so you can always get help.
Cons: No grant management system and no auction software.
Dina R. · Director of Development · Non-Profit Organization Management · December 4, 2023
Love / hate. Great for the accounting side, frustrating on CRM side
Pros: The fund accounting product. It works well, but can use some more reporting flexibility
Cons: The CRM platform was added to this fund accounting system. Great idea, but obviously not designed by anyone that has actually done donor management. A good example is there is NOT an easy way to produce an acknowledgement letter for a donation or invoice(pledge) payment. CRM 101?
Rod B. · Development Director · Non-Profit Organization Management · November 27, 2023
Frustrating
Pros: This system is filled with potential to bring community stakeholders together in a fundraising capacity. The integration between the donor database and the accounting GL is pretty good. For a low priced option, I would love to recommend this, but the customer support is horrible.
Cons: Lack of competent customer support. When you as the user know more than the person in "support", you end up spending alot of time training them before they will believe you that there is a problem. That is a huge waste of my time. They also have reports on line that are yielding incorrect data for our users, and they won't hide those reports pending resolution. In one word, arrogant - not helpful.
Jennifer T. · Director of Finance · Non-Profit Organization Management · October 24, 2023
It started out great, but we left Aplos not because they have a bad product but because they priced themselves out of the market. Raising prices 300% in a year. We found another solution with equal service at significantly lower cost.
Pros: We started on Aplos for the accounting features. It was easy to setup and matched the way we did accounting at our church. It was easy to make entries, and record donations all in one place. Customer service was great.
Cons: Over time features were gradually removed or moved to higher and higher priced tiers. Budgets, have to pay more. Want more users pay more. More contacts pay more. They added more and more features that were of no use to our church and kept raising the cost.
Brent A. · Treasurer · Religious Institutions · October 19, 2023
Integrated with some departments while using the product for limited time in certain projects, results were fascinating.
Pros: Activity dashboard is very realistic and very management friendly and if you are using it in several projects, the product serves well.
Cons: There are some functions where you don't need to use such as e-mailing, not so useful, so other than focusing these, it should make the interface more user-friendly. It is good but can be better.

Really great. I have no desire to use any other software.
Pros: It’s really a straightforward bookkeeping software with excellent training and support. I feel like I’m getting a solid value for my money.
Cons: The training felt a little disjointed, and perhaps it’s because I’m not a trained bookkeeper. So they give great advice when it hits home, but there were some basics I was missing. Keep training from the ground up.

The wonderful experience made me love my work and the Turk in clear and good financial reports thanks to this product in accounting.
Pros: Actually, this product contains the good tools in order to manage good financial reports.
Cons: A wonderful product that crushes to be the best in this field.
Abdelati L. · Treasury · Accounting · August 24, 2023
If you don't need any help, this program can be great. But as soon as something does not work for you, forget it. Their support staff is friendly but ineffective.
Pros: Integration with PayPal was really nice, also the capacity to create and send emails to donors.
Cons: PRICING: Force to pay for features we never use. And their new pricing schedule (july 2022) DOUBLED our subscription price without adding a single new feature. SUPPORT: Nobody helped us understand and make good choices regarding their new pricing schedule. They just don't care or respond to our needs.
Cheryl W. · Treasurer · Religious Institutions · April 17, 2023
Pros: Our company is run by a VERY small team. Aplos' ease of use allows me to book keep, budget, and analyze our finances efficiently, and saves our small nonprofit lots of time and heartache. The customer service is ALWAYS quick to respond and help. The tags function allows us to track our service to our many partners, which is very easy to manage. Aplos = ease of use leading to a BIG impact!
Cons: Unsure what to say here. As an administrator Aplos fulfills our needs. There hasn't been anything that's come up that I've disliked.
Elizabeth M. · Managing Director · Performing Arts · March 30, 2023
This past year (our first year with Aplos) has been the best year of my so far 6 year journey as Church Treasurer.
Pros: The fact that I have never been trained as an accountant, combined with this software's ability to teach me as I use it, makes a sometimes thankless and daunting task something I can look forward to.
Cons: I wish that the expense account info would print on the checks 2nd and 3rd part automatically. This is especially important for payroll. There's no way a small church can afford to pay another vendor to handle payroll, but it's vital that any pay check I issue contain info on the amounts deducted (social security, state and federal taxes, etc) be printed on parts 2 and 3 of the business check. Aplos currently does not do this while even Quicken does at much less cost.
Steve T. · Treasurer · Religious Institutions · March 30, 2023
I have had a great experience building my website, but my fund accounting is all messed up (I think). I would like to have an Aplos manager call me and provide some help.
Pros: The customer service I received from [sensitive content hidden] on the website builder in March 2023. Prior to that, the customer service I have received is challenging since most of your customer service reps do not know much about accounting.
Cons: My difficulty in getting someone to help me with the accounting side of the software. Please call me at [sensitive content hidden] as I still need help with this.
Carmen H. · Secretary / Treasurer · Non-Profit Organization Management · March 19, 2023
Pros: We have used the application at the small business level for business accounting. The platform is very simple and user friendly. It meets expectations and donations or contributions are easy to apply. The message boards clearly display how far we are and how much is still missing. The charts and dashboard is very clear, the controls are simple with integration has not been a problem. I liked the possible real time view of the data. Accelerated way to receive donations and the ability to automate.
Cons: We have used it at a small business level and the platform has lived up to our expectations, we have had no complaints in the time we have used it.

Aplos is an excellent choice for nonprofits and other organizations that need to manage their finances and donations. Its fund accounting, donor management, online giving, reporting, and ease of use make it one of the best accounting software options for nonprofits.
Pros: Aplos has a robust fund accounting system that allows organizations to track their income and expenses by fund, program, or project. This feature is essential for nonprofits that need to report on how their funds are being used.it allows organizations to track their donors and donations, create donation forms, and generate reports on their fundraising activities. This feature makes it easy for nonprofits to manage their fundraising efforts and build relationships with their donors.
Cons: Limited mobile app: While Aplos has a mobile app for iOS and Android devices, the app is limited in terms of features and functionality. Some users may find that they need to use the desktop version of Aplos to access all of the features they need.Aplos can be more expensive than some other accounting software options, particularly for smaller organizations.

There is no ticketing system in place. You can report a problem; they may even fix it. You would never know unless you test the system. No update notes to follow. No user group - so they believe they have a good product.
Pros: Contributions are easy to track and report on. The software is relatively easy to use. I can keep a simple Chart-of-Accounts and use Tags, allowing more detailed reports as needed.
Cons: Even many basic accounting functions are missing: Default Expense Codes for Vendors; Contributions do not post in detail at the GL level; it's hard to drill down and find out where the transaction came from. If there is a NSF check; you have to enter it 2 times; once in GL and once is the Contribution module otherwise the detailed contribution report will not match the general ledger. The software does not post journal entries as entered. It batch totals cash account lines, making it impossible to reconcile to cash: example Payroll when you have some people getting direct deposit and others a check. Support is useless. I have to figure out my own work-arounds for accounting transactions. They don't understand the basics. You can't print a comparative financial report: This Year vs Last Year.

Aplos is an accounting software that combines an easy-to-use interface and the power of a robust accounting engine to elevate your business.Aplos makes running your accounting fast, simple, and secure. Users can track their finances and make proactive decisions by analyzing their current and historical data.Aplos provides a variety of unique features, including: A state-of-the-art accounting engine, Customizable dashboards, Multi-currency support.
Pros: Aplos is a new company that is in the process of moving into the accounting industry. Aplos is a membership company designed to help companies like yours manage their membership programs. Aplos offers a wide variety of solutions that can be customized to meet your company's needs.
Cons: Overall interface quality could be improved a bit, I didn't see any other problems.
Matthew B. · Executive Director, Finance · Information Technology and Services · November 2, 2022
We loved APLOS for the capacity we need at the time.
Pros: I loves the customer service. You could always get someone on the phone, always and that was super helpful.
Cons: I did not like that customization was limited. Branding our colors and design was limited.
Jessie M. · Founder · Non-Profit Organization Management · September 9, 2022
Their LIVE! phone support has been good.
Pros: Architecture of single chart of accounts for all funds lets income and expense be categorized by fund
Cons: Some things I might have wanted are missing or extra cost, but value for price is good. For event registrations, we need the ability to use "coupons" that we would issue to provide discounts to certain classes of attendees. Allowing attendees to self-select a ticket price was not an option. This may be a future feature, we hope.
Harry S. · Past Treasurer · Health, Wellness and Fitness · August 1, 2022
This software it's absolutely amazing and provide us a lot of things.
Pros: The management with this software it's absolutely useful and great, I really like the differents tools, the differents functionalities this software it's absolutely useful and it's easy to understand.
Cons: In some cases the software have some problems with the accounting tools and it may cause a problem, but are little problems.
