its a reliable software and adaptable to all needs
Pros: User friendly interface and good performance
Cons: Admin options are not easy to find in the user interface
Manue A. · Network Admin · Non-Profit Organization Management · January 15, 2025
Pros: There are so many features to make registration, payment and membership streamlined for customers.
Cons: There is a learning curve in setup and training staff. With so many options, it took a bit to set up, but the support was great.
Laina W. · Event Specialist · Events Services · January 12, 2025
Average experience but feel it can be improved tremendously since it has so much utilization in large organizations.
Pros: It organizes the camps, classes and services in one location.

Cons: Outdated interface on the backend. Tens of thousands of ways to pull info which can be chaotic on referencing numbers for reporting.

Pros: Easy to use for the most part. From the end user standpoint it's a breeze.
Cons: The reports are very limiting. And the service is horrific. I can't tell you how many times we have reached out to customer service just to set up a credit card reader or to resolve an issue of a missing check and we get no response AT ALL or a very delayed response. In what world is that acceptable? Find another system, these folks are not where it's at.

Overall the product has a wide range of services and works well. There are needs that emerge with our changing customer base that would be great if we could more easily address (ie the signing up/sitting on multiple activities supply and demand issue).
Pros: We like the wide range of modules available in the system.
Cons: Reporting had to pay more to access more granular and/or information that needed to be scrubbed/manipulated. Some functions are broken and then reside with their Dev team. We continue to push items online, but need more configuration opportunities to do so.
Kerrie S. · Management System Analyst Supervisor · Government Administration · April 9, 2024
Pros: I like how much information it is able to gather from participants and the features like scheduled reporting. I like having the option to export in different file types as that makes my work easier. I like the look on the customer side - it's clean and modern I also like the ability to work through things in the sandbox.
Cons: I don't like the look of the back-end site. It feels dated and overly complication.
Sara L. · Associate · Education Management · April 4, 2024
It is mixed. Updates are being made constantly and we sometimes discover new features that are a big improvement. However, since we have been using the software a long time, those enhancements are too late and we've since found workarounds.
Pros: Being able to customize the software to our specific needs is very helpful.
Cons: The financial reporting is difficult to understand and customize to produce the reports we need.
Michelle H. · Business Coordinator · Recreational Facilities and Services · April 3, 2024
Pros: The reporting options in ActiveNet are unending.
Cons: Some reports that are exports to Excel need work. Lots of unnecessary columns and text meant for one cell is exports to an additional cell in the row below (creating a whole extra row as well).
Lupe M. · Executive Administrative Assistant · Government Administration · April 1, 2024
We have used this program for over 15 years and it has improved each year and it is simple to setup and use.
Pros: The best features is the easy tracking of recreation sign ups and processing the payments and this tracks the user photo and season of use.
Cons: Only when the system is down and not getting onto the website.
Daniel S. · Network Administrator · Public Safety · April 1, 2024
Pros: They are active in implementing new features that help out the end user which in turns helps us. New updates consistently that run smoothly like they didn't even happen.
Cons: No Color codes. Kind of bland in that aspect. Just dull on the eyes.
Tyndan M. · Recreation Coordinator · Government Administration · April 1, 2024
Pros: The program can be modified to fit your company style.
Cons: Sometimes, you will need to go to various location just to get a function to work property.
luis c. · rec specialist · Government Relations · March 30, 2024
Pros: It's versatile. There are many different ways to do the same task
Cons: It can be a bit daunting when one first learns how to use
Raul H. · Guest Services Representative · Consumer Services · March 30, 2024
Pros: I like the interface for people to register
Cons: The facility rental portal is very hard for the public to use
JOREY S. · Program Coordinator · Recreational Facilities and Services · March 29, 2024
Overall, ActiveNet has been very helpful with how we run our programming on the administrative end of things! Highly recommend.
Pros: ActiveNet is relatively user friendly and easy to use once you get it set-up in a way that will work for your needs. I like how streamlined it is to cancel and refund a rental reservation or an activity registration. I also like how easy it is to produce registrations - you can customize based on what you want to include. Lots of options.
Cons: I don't like the templates for the reports - specifically for rosters and attendance sheets. I wish there was a way to customize them more so they wouldn't include information that is not relevant and so that we could stretch out the columns so email addresses were all on one line.
Kacy C. · Program Coordinator · Civic & Social Organization · March 29, 2024
ActiveNet can be a good tool for parks and recreation. It has comprehensive features and functions that fit an agency's needs. But the customization is limited and the learning curve is challenging. Plus, the complexity of the user interface and managing data prevents users from fully using all the features.
Pros: A lot of features. Online registration is convenient. Converting all programs to InDesign for marketing is easy. Customer service is very responsive.
Cons: ActiveNet is an old platform and its user interface looks like early 2000s and is complicated. The data management is difficult. There are too many settings and parameters for pulling a report. Some reports are in tabular format Excel but many are not, especially revenue reports, which are impossible to be integrated into other financial or data management. To learn a specific function of ActiveNet is not difficult, but the learning curve to use ActiveNet effectively is challenging. Customization is limited, we often need to adjust our programs or facilities to fit the modules.

This has been the easiest to use event software I've ever encountered, and it has been critical to our success in the Facility Events department. While there a few features it lacks, it backs those up with one of the best calendar systems I have experienced along with robust reporting capabilities.
Pros: The calendar is very well designed, enabling users to view space availability in separate calendars and incorporate crucial information like setup time, attendance, type of event, etc.
Cons: We wish there was a timeline or event detailing feature that allowed us to go more in depth with the various event logistics.
Zack T. · Director of Facility Events · Museums and Institutions · March 29, 2024
great it is convenient! I love how easy it is to access.
Pros: How easy it is to use the modules. I Use it everyday to obtain reports
Cons: nothing yet, so far the program has been great
BLANCA S. · ACCOUNT CLERK · Accounting · March 28, 2024
They have been a good company to work with and they make it possible for the organization to do what they need to do.
Pros: Interface is easy to access and easy to use
Cons: CC machines have issues at times although usually have simple solutions.
Anonymous User · Technology Manager · Philanthropy · March 28, 2024
Pros: Many different features, especially the robust reporting was extremely valuable to us.
Cons: Ease of use, mostly. Customers complained about the UI, and setting up complex reports like the Transaction Export was tough for staff. Sometimes we couldn't customize things in the ways we wanted. Our biggest drawback was that the only way we could merge customer payment plans was by putting the classes in a package bundle. Sometimes our customers by 5 classes at a time, and it would be problematic if their card was charged several times on payment plan day.
Stephanie M. · Registration Associate · Education Management · March 28, 2024
Pros: I will hopefully get some support on the uses and features.
Cons: It is not very user friendly, and I am unable to navigate it easily.
Kim C. · Director of Youth Development · Health, Wellness and Fitness · March 28, 2024
Overall our experience has been pretty good. I still prefer it to the previous recreation registration software we used. Billing has been a frustrating process, with much miscommunication.
Pros: ActiveNet is very versatile in that there are many things you can do with it.
Cons: The set-up and often use of it isn't always intuitive. Any time we want to implement something new within it we have to dedicate a lot of time for learning, set-up and training of staff on it.
Ryan P. · Acting Manager of Parks and Recreation · Government Administration · March 28, 2024
I have been utilizing Active for over 11 years and it is a good system. It is a bit difficult to learn.
Pros: the member management and the pass validation screen.
Cons: The calendar and booking of rooms within our facility.
Danielle W. · Assistant Manager · Health, Wellness and Fitness · March 28, 2024
I am enjoying learning the program and all it has to offer. Looking forward to the day I am comfortably familiar with everything.
Pros: Customer support is great and once you understand the program, it feels more user friendly.
Cons: Figuring out the "whys" of how something is setup. Active web support can be a bit of a challenge to find specifics.
Chantal P. · Services Clerk · Government Administration · March 28, 2024
Pros: We love the flexibility of ActiveNet. It has many, many great features and allows us to really tailor build courses and private lessons that we need. The newer online customer interface allowing registrations online, the online calendar, and online donations are all very user friendly and attractive. We have pivoted toward directing people straight to ActiveNet online rather than maintaining too much of this information on our own website. We also rely on ActiveNet to process our teacher payroll and this integration is critical to us.
Cons: We love that ActiveNet is aggressively trying to improve, and we understand that they have to prioritize improving features that benefit the most users. However, there are some critical flaws in some of the software programming that really need addressing, particularly around Payroll and payment acceptance. These need to be modernized and a full review of the logic of the software and functionality.
Chris K. · CFO · Music · March 28, 2024
Pros: - Customer service is always there to help with anything. - When we migrated, the transition was pretty easy, they not only guided us through the transition, but also supported us. - We have been developing more and more products (existing products in Active that we get to know and start using) in Active and been supported through the process by our account manager as well as product team whom are always there if we need a refresher or presentation to better understand our options.
Cons: - We are in a French speaking province and we often need some corrections in the translations on the Customer User Interface (mistake in the translation, incorrect translation, etc.). - Some releases impact our processes and require us to modify our ways of doing things. - It takes a while for enhancement features to be developed.
