Overall, Google Voice is my selection for VoIP. With a great value for money and a small learning curve, you can't go wrong with Google Voice!
Pros: Google Voice is an excellent solution for a business looking for an effective VoIP. It allows for easy access to text messaging as well as meetings. Customer support is there to help with any issues that may come up!
Cons: Google Voice seemed to lack some background options that other similar VoIP services have. There also is occasional bugs and issues with its mobile app that can lead to frustration during crucial communication times.

google voice was easy to use and easy to set up, it wasn't until i cancelled my number and tried to get another one that i had any issues.
Pros: google voice is free to use as long as you have phone service through a service provider prior to signing up for google voice. The app is easy to learn how to use and understand the features, its pretty straight forward. google voice also allows you to get verification texts as well as regular texts and sms messages.
Cons: it would be better if you could get multiple google voice numbers with the same email account and it was pretty frustrating when i couldn't recover my old google voice number or get a new google voice number with the email account that i was previously using.

So frustrated. I have to be really careful when using it. I have to double and triple check all texts and links to google calendar sent.
Pros: The only thing I like about Google Voice is the convenience. I am overall frustrated with Google voice.
Cons: You have to open up contacts to change contact information, you can't just change it in google voice, so if you mistype something, it's stuck like that only if you open contacts. There's not an edit button. I am frustrated that there is a 160 character limit for SMS texts. I didn't know this for months because I never received an error message that texts weren't sent. Also, links sometimes don't get sent. I have to confirm and reconfirm if texts were received, and sometimes none of that gets through. It's profoundly frustrating because it's led to missed appointments. There's not even a character count to make sure. I have to open a separate document to make sure I'm under 160 characters. I know this is dependent on the person's cell phone carrier and service at the time, but I feel like there must be a way to fix this. I had to reach out to the google community to find all this out. I'm the only one in my organization to figure this out.

Overall the experience is great and reliable. The voice to text translate is usually spot on. Important voicemails don't get lost as it consolidates right into my email. Highly recommend.
Pros: Google voice is great for consolidating voicemails into my emails. Usually there are follow up tasks from my business voicemails and having everything in my email inbox ensures nothing will get forgotten.
Cons: There is a bit of a delay from a call coming in to when you can answer it on your cell phone. Often this will cause the call to get missed especially if I have to press a button for the call to proceed. Not a major issue, but something to be aware of.

My company uses Google Voice to assign each employee a work number. My overall experience has been very positive. Google Voice integrates seamlessly with my home cell service and hardware. I make approximately 20 calls a day through Google Voice and have never had an issue!
Pros: I really like the clarity of every single phone call! I like the feature of being able to utilize the "Do not disturb" feature outside of my normal working hours. I did not know it had this feature at first and I was getting work calls in the middle of the night!
Cons: There are a lot of features I am not familiar with, so I would say better training material is needed. Ever since I discovered the "do not disturb feature," I can't think of anything else I would change!

Overall my experience using Google Voice has been great. I'd recommend it to anyone in small business or private practice. It fills a specific need in an innovative way.
Pros: Google Voice, through their HIPAA compliant option, provides a simple, low cost option for a secure voicemail/phone service. As a therapist in solo private practice Google Voice provides the option not only for phone calls but also text and sms, should I wish to utilize those options in my practice, for a low monthly fee. I've not experienced any bugs and issues in over a year of utilizing it so I've not needed to contact their customer support, but I am sure customer support is as high quality as the product! While there is a little bit of a learning curve moving from using a traditional phone to Google Voice it is very intuitive. While primarily I utilize Google Voice to reach out if a patient is late or to receive calls, it would be a great option for voice-only meetings as well.
Cons: I leave a few tabs up when I log off if I don't restart my computer and Google Voice is one of them. It took me a few days to get into the habit of refreshing it each morning, otherwise it doesn't seem to actually reload. Truly the tiniest of things not to like, especially in the context of how well Google Voice works!

Overall it's a good experience and I'm trying eventually use it for business. The only thing that would make it better if is it had a video sharing feature.
Pros: It's a free phone number I always have access to no matter what and it's a simple way to always have a second phone number so I can separate my calls.
Cons: There's not much I don't like about Google Voice. But, there was one time that I called into a conference call and was asked to use my credits but joining from my regular phone didn't ask me to pay anything.

It was super easy to set up, I like that I can send the call info to my email for tracking. Thrilled that it has texting available and that it's consistent. Love that its free.
Pros: Value for money. I just started a small business and provided I dont send messages that look like spam or duplicates, I have very few issues. It's been very helpful!
Cons: It can be a little clunky. It doesnt show on my phone whether its a normal call or gvoice call and that can be a little stressful. Also, the web interface doesnt have emoji's, which for a regular business would be fine, but I deal with weddings and a certain number of heart emojis is expected.

Pros: The things that I like the most about Google voice is the option of having another phone number from my same phone for free.
Cons: I have not had much about Google Voice to not like. It’s a pretty easy to use software that is free.

My overal experience with google voice is a good one. I don't have any major complaints. It's on par with other free phone line services
Pros: This is a good app for no cost and it works for my needs. It's pretty easy to set uo and has a simple interface
Cons: The calls are not always the best quality. Sometimes the connection is not the best and calls hang up

I really enjoy Google Voice. It values privacy and doesn't require you to share your real phone number with someone you want to set boundaries with or if there is a power imbalance.
Pros: It allows you to create a second phone number and tie it to your personal cell phone so that you can avoid giving your real phone number out when you only need to communicate with someone briefly. Additionally, it is very easy to delete and unlink the number to your phone when you no longer need it.
Cons: Sometimes, the area code of your number isn't the same area code you are residing in. This makes it harder for people to believe that is your real number. Additionally, it isn't always clear how you are charged for using your Google Voice number.

Overall my experience with Google Voice has been mostly positive. It accomplishes the basic task of keeping private numbers private, but it is not a perfect solution. It leaves a lot to be desired.
Pros: Google voice is a great option for employees who don't want to give their personal phone number away in the course of business and don't have access to a work phone number.
Cons: It can be hard to search people, so if they don't text you first and you don't save their name/number, it's going to be difficult to find the conversation you are looking for.
Tommy A. · Adult Ministry Associate · Religious Institutions · May 29, 2025
Pros: I moved abroad, and I was able to save the phone number I've had since I was 15 by porting it to Google Voice. It also allows me to keep an American phone number.
Cons: It screens calls and doesn't always let calls through, and the sound quality isn't always the best on both my end and theirs.
Tess M. · Matchmaker · Individual & Family Services · May 28, 2025
I have used Google Voice mostly for infrequent business use, where being able to communicate with others without using my personal phone number was important to me.
Pros: I liked being able to communicate with others without using my personal phone number.
Cons: I didn't like having to always have a strong internet connection to ensure good call quality using google voice.
Stephanie W. · Kids Director · Religious Institutions · April 21, 2025
Overall experience with Google voice has been amazing, I've had the same phone number through them for a few years now and it's helped me be able to manage everything even when I didn't have a regular cell phone number.
Pros: What I like most about Google voice is that you get all the features of a regular phone number for free with Google voice's virtual phone number, mostly the ability to receive verification codes
Cons: What I like least about Google voice isn't necessarily directed at Google voice but at other websites or programs that won't accept the Google voice phone number because it is VoIP.
Nafula M. · Owner · Design · April 15, 2025
I started using google voice as a second phone number on my device, but little by little it has taken over.
Pros: You can manage your phone and have a second phone number on your device.
Cons: So far, it's been great, so nothing I don't like about it.
Heldor G. · Manager · Mental Health Care · April 9, 2025
My experience with Google Voice has been excellent! I don't have much to complain about, except for the support for businesses only. I still recommend it to several of my friends and family.
Pros: The main advantage of the app is the possibility of using it via Wi-Fi and/or data without having to carry a number. I really like using it in my day-to-day life.
Cons: They do not have any support for individuals, only for companies (CNPJ). But apart from that fact, the application is very good.
Alan J. · Analista de Sistemas · Internet · March 30, 2025
Pros: Being manager of real estate agency Google Voice allows me to have a second phone number instead of using my own personal phone number. This protects my personal phone number from scams and cold calls by screening the calls first before answering them. It is also great to receive text messages from sms marketing.
Cons: Therebare times when i might miss calls due to glitches but that happens really once in while so big thumbs up.
Dhakadiya O. · Manager · Real Estate · February 17, 2025
Pros: I found the pricing to be the most affordable option.
Cons: I wasn't able to send out of office replies or set out of office hours.
Anonymous User · Therapist · Health, Wellness and Fitness · February 13, 2025
Google voice has been very helpful and providing me a business telephone number that my clients can use to contact me.
Pros: The ability to have a telephone number that I can use on my laptop.
Cons: The inability to tie more than one telephone number as a base for my Google voice number.
Shirita C. · Therapist and Owner · Mental Health Care · February 2, 2025
Very useful in cheaply setting up a new phone number.
Pros: Very useful as we needed to setup a separate phone number for the business.
Cons: Was a bit difficult in setting up initially but I assume this would be the case regardless as setting up a new phone number isnt exactly easy.
Paul P. · Founder · Apparel & Fashion · January 10, 2025
Overall I had a good experience with Google Voice. It is important to know the fine print, especially understanding the inactive time. However, being able to pick my own number was great and using the different features made communicating with my clients very easy!
Pros: I appreciated the ease and versatility of Google Voice. It was super easy to begin the process, especially since I already have a Google email address. Picking different plans was also great because you can choose based on your budget and desired functions.
Cons: I was least fond of the period when the number was cut off due to inactivity. I wished the period was longer since I was fresh in my business.
Erica G. · CEO · Food & Beverages · December 22, 2024
Over the past three years, I've found it to be really helpful.
Pros: All you need is internet access to use Google Voice, which produces clear calls.
Cons: The majority of my clients are in the United States. It primarily calls the USA free.
Matthew John R. · Junior Marketing Officer · Marketing and Advertising · November 29, 2024
Overall I love google voice and you can use the number you chose most places that voips aren't acceptable
Pros: The ease of use along with being able to integrate it with normal use if your phone
Cons: Sometimes calls won't come through until after the caller hung up
