My experience has been excellent. Payworks takes the friction out of the "administrative" side of being an employee. I never have to worry about where my payroll information is. It’s a dependable system that stays out of the way and just works when I need it to.
Pros: The employee self-service portal is incredibly intuitive. I love being able to access my pay stubs and tax documents (like T4s) instantly without having to contact HR. It feels very secure and reliable.
Cons: There isn't much to complain about from an employee standpoint. If I had to pick something, the user interface feels a bit "functional" and traditional rather than modern and flashy, but since it works perfectly and is easy to navigate, it’s a very minor trade-off.

When asking for help, they are very professional, prompt, and fast. The work being done was explained well.
Pros: Great customer service. They are always available if you need help, very prompt, and reliable. They are a knowledgeable team.
Cons: I can't think of anything I disliked. My experiences with them are always very professional and very prompt.

Overall I like Payworks and would recommend it. Compared to other programs I have used teaching someone how to use this program is straight forward.
Pros: I like the grid view. It makes entering payroll easy. The summary at the end of the register is useful in balancing to other company reports.
Cons: I dislike that some of the drop down menus cannot be accessed by "smart search" of putting in the first two or three letters of a name, you have to scroll through one at a time.

I have been very pleased with the change from doing pay periods on our system, to changing over to Payworks. It is so simple and all the employees are helpful.
Pros: It is very easy to complete pay periods every other week. I don't need to worry about remitting any government payments. Customer support personnel are extremely helpful!
Cons: Trying to find answers to my questions on the website. Often I don't get the answers to my question or it may seem a little complicated.

One of the best features of Payworks used to be the customer service, but now I warn clients that it can be difficult to access help but that the website is easy to navigate. Now they call me for help not Payworks.
Pros: the user friendly and functional website. even my most computer-basic clients can use it.
Cons: it's become difficult to receive customer service. Reps never answer the phone, and the general customer service hours are not conducive to the West Coast. it has become difficult to speak with a human being even on the general help line.

Overall, it has been great. We are almost a year into it and have learned a lot. The value cannot be beat especially when you have a dedicated account manager.
Pros: Our account manager [sensitive content hidden] has helped us out on more than one occasion. Not only is she prompt but provides answers to our questions in a very constructed and easy to understand way.
Cons: It is a bit of a learning curve when you first navigate the program. It does have some complex pages especially when setting up employees. It would make it easier if there were some help screens or short videos.

Once you get to know the program, it is easy to follow. I don't use it often enough to be really good at it.
Pros: The customer support. As a new user of Payworks, I've made a few mistakes, and [sensitive content hidden] has always been there to help.
Cons: I find that if you make a mistake, you can't go back and correct it. You have to contact customer support.

so far so good,.. just a huge learning curve. It is totally different from Moneris, some things are not as clear or easy. I found once I do them a few times they become easier. Changing from one payroll company to Payworks was seamless.
Pros: We signed up January of this year. The more I have used the system, the easier to navigate it has become.
Cons: Some things are very convoluted, hard to find. Having them easier to find and use would be helpful. ex doing ROE, I was a MOneris costomer before, you completed these right from there employee profile. Generating T4's are done with the last payperiod if you want... not sure how this is done with payworks but am betting it is more steps...

Overall, my experience with Payworks has been very positive. The platform is reliable and handles payroll accurately, and the support team truly stands out. Whenever I have questions or need guidance—especially with more complex payroll or legislative matters—the support team is knowledgeable, responsive, and easy to work with. Having access to subject matter experts gives me confidence that our payroll is handled correctly and compliantly. Payworks has been a dependable partner in supporting our payroll and HR processes.
Pros: The support is fantastic—they truly deserve a 5-star rating! The team is knowledgeable, efficient, and always reliable. As an accounting manager, I have a solid understanding of payroll basics, but I don’t have the time to dive into every payroll setting or keep up with all government legislation. That’s why having access to true subject matter experts is so important. Payworks support is my go-to resource, and they consistently provide clear guidance and helpful advice. They always take the time to help, and I couldn’t ask for better support.
Cons: There isn’t always enough time to fully explore and learn all of the features Payworks offers. I wish there were a simpler, more streamlined way to learn what the platform can provide. It would also be very helpful to have a centralized resource that explains what each report is used for, along with guidance on how to set up and customize reports to better align with our company’s needs.

VERY GOOD PRODUCT OVERALL SOMETIMES A DELAY WHEN CONTACTING CUSTOMER SERVICE LIKE THE FACT IT IS IN THE CENTRAL TIME ZONE
Pros: EASY TO USE HAS GOOD REPORTING YOU ARE ABLE TO PRODUCE AD HOC REPORTS FROM THE DATABASE PERFORMS YEAR END T4'S
Cons: LACK OF CONTROL PAYWORKS HAS STRICT GUIDELINES ABOUT WHAT YOU CAN CHANGE SOME REPORTS CANNOT ACCESS HISTORICAL INFORMATION

Payworks has leveled up me productivity when submitting payroll, and has allowed me to focus my time and energy into other aspects of my business.
Pros: We’ve had a great experience with Payworks. It’s easy to use, reliable, and makes payroll simple. Anytime we’ve needed help, their support team has been quick and helpful. Highly recommend.
Cons: At the beginning, I found it a bit difficult to navigate the sidebar and figure out where everything was. It’s gotten easier over time, but sometimes it still takes me a little longer than I’d like to find what I’m looking for.

It has been great! Having an implementation person assigned to help you get started. I also like that we have a personal rep assigned to our account. The resource Center for questions and videos are helpful too!
Pros: The ease of everything payroll! After not doing payroll for 17 years, they have made it simple and straightforward to jump right back in. They even take care of the CRA remittances for me too!
Cons: Figuring out the journal entry side of payroll. Has been the most challenging part for me, but it’s all part of learning a new way of doing things.
Leath S. · Partner · Health, Wellness and Fitness · December 17, 2025
I can only describe all my experience in the world "super fragilistic expialidocious", I sued Payworks for more than 7 years
Pros: How easy to run payroll runs and customer service, as well as value for the money. I also like the app for the employee
Cons: Set up an employee, and the paperwork that I still need to go through, all the documentation, and bank information.
Misha S. · Controler · Construction · December 17, 2025
Far exceeded expectations. But to be honest I came from a provider that was absolutely horrible and difficult to deal with so I did not expect a lot. It was a great surprise to see how good this company is.
Pros: It's easy to use, I have had great customer service, the ease of setting it up at the start was simple and all at a reasonable cost.
Cons: I really haven't found anything I don't like. The closest might be that I am not a payroll specialist and some times terminology can get me but usually I can figure it out.
David B. · Owner · Retail · December 16, 2025
Pros: the pay grid system. can access the payrolls anytime. Payroll processing reminders. able to reverse the hours. Security the overall layout.
Cons: nothing particular but I am not sure how the year end with this software will go through, as this will be my first year end with Payworks.
Suman B. · President · Construction · December 16, 2025
Overall experience - positive. Appreciate that someone picks up the phone and you can talk to a live person. I also like that it's a Canadian company.
Pros: Ease of use. You can also get through to a team member not a chatbot. I like to talk things through with a live person. Bonus points for that.
Cons: There are some things I wanted from a report standpoint and the system can't do it. It doesn't integrate to some of our software programs.
Brenda A. · Administrative Officer · Staffing and Recruiting · December 16, 2025
Highly recommend! They are always there to help and payroll is not such a dreaded task anymore. And the price is reasonable too.
Pros: Payworks makes payroll easy! The system is easy to navigate once you are set up. And if you have any questions or issues they are there to support you.
Cons: The screens are sometimes hard to find but the customer service centre is always there to help. They are patient no matter how silly the question may seem to be.
Heather B. · Financial Controller · Construction · December 16, 2025
I love payworks, I have onboarded 2 separate companies with them and have told many others to switch over.
Pros: I love how quick and user friendly it is, Payworks makes life much easier keeping everything together and organized. The staff are very helpful and prompt
Cons: Some of the Applications could be more user friendly, and something are not intuitive, but the staff are very quick to offer to add it to lists of future development
Robyn M. · Office Manager · Child Day Care Services · December 16, 2025
Excellent. Have been using Payworks for many years .. and have never had any difficulties unfixable.
Pros: Ease of doing payroll and the fact there is always someone who can help me when I have difficulties.
Cons: Sometimes the program gets changed but the staff are always available to help me figure it out quick
Laurel M. · CEO · Staffing and Recruiting · December 16, 2025
I like the interface, the ease of data entry, the help centre, and most importantly, the customer service. All my questions get answered and help is always available!
Pros: Payworks is the most user-friendly payroll system I've used in my decade-long career. The modules are easily accessible and simple to use and understand.
Cons: The report functioning can often be limited I find, but I make it work. Occasionally I have trouble pulling the exact employee data I want, but I've made it work!
Jennifer J. · Payroll Specialist · Health, Wellness and Fitness · December 16, 2025
Very satisfied, the customer service has been really prompt and helpful, and we have been saving money compared to what we used to pay an accountant.
Pros: Ease of use, cost effective, I like that the government reporting is covered for the most part. My contact person is always very prompt with a response.
Cons: Initially it was a little hard to navigate the menu items. I had to write the process down in order to remember the correct steps.
Sherry O. · Administrative Assistant · Insurance · December 16, 2025
Payworks has simplified the way we did payroll before. Running reports, filing T4's and ROE's are processed with ease and transmitted electronically which saves time.
Pros: Payworks program is pretty easy to use and if you have any issues, my current representative is always available to help. I also got a friends business set up with Payworks and he loves how easy it is to process payroll from what he was using before!
Cons: When we implemented the clock hardware. We still don't use it to its full potential because it doesn't seem to run smoothly.
Justin R. · Operating and Finance Officer · Non-Profit Organization Management · December 16, 2025
I find it so easy to use and learn quicker steps as I continue to use the platform making the tough issues easy to solve.
Pros: Very simple and easy to use. Intuitively easy. I also like that the changes by Ontario/Canada's changes are reliable and automatically imbedded and one does not have to worry or question the process. Payworks staff too are always available and helpful to solve any issue.
Cons: I couldn't think of how things could be any simpler. Most of the hard to do issues, are only hard in your mind and when you see the platform, they have it all accounted for and easy to implement the changes.
Auriole F. · Program Coordinator · Government Administration · December 16, 2025
It has been quite positive. Any time I need to call for assistance the reps are very helpful and knowledgeable.
Pros: The cost, and the fact that it is a Canadian company. I also like that the service representatives are knowledgeable about employment laws in my province.
Cons: I find that the interface is not super intuitive. I have only been using it since April, so I know that there is a learning curve. However it would be nice if there was a way to be prompted to make sure I don't miss steps, particularly when hiring a new employee, or terminating one.
Deseree W. · Finance and Human Resources Manager · Non-Profit Organization Management · December 16, 2025
Amazing! I LOVE Payworks and it is part of my business Onboarding for clients. 95% of my clients use Payworks. The other 5% are due to incompatiblity with QBO workflows.
Pros: Payworks is created with all steps in mind, leaving peace of mind that everything is flowing easily from the payroll clerk to the employee. Integrations such as ROE processing, CRA payments, T4 filing, Warnings, and a stellar service department makes payroll a great tool box.
Cons: The new general service contacts workflow. My reps have changed many times and yesterday I needed an answer and did not get one. The person I need to deal with has had two messages and not returned the call and the general line can't help.
