Overall very happy with the product. I had been using an older version of sage and happy to see it is very similar.
Pros: Ease of use and good customer service. A Great program. I have used one of your competitors and i do not find them as user friendly.
Cons: A little pricey for an annual subscription, particularly for a small business/sole proprietor without employees.

I find myself mostly using the procurement tab to organize all my billings and projects. Overall there are some great aspects of the platform but I feel it could be modernized a bit.

Pros: I like the menu design when I first log in, and seeing everything at a glance. Having tasks to alert me to items pending or missed is also helpful.
Cons: We do not use the bidding platform portion because I find it "clunky" and not very user friendly. The interface looks old and outdated, and I find that other softwares have better tools available for the same price.
Maddy C. · Sales and Marketing · Construction · May 5, 2026
The product has changed to become more user friendly for my purposes. The advantage is that I can use the Accountant download/upload feature and the auditors are familiar and streamlines the audit process (this usually translates into a cheaper cost for conduction the Audit)
Pros: I have used SAGE products in the past. There have been some improvements over the years that make the software more user friendly. Note that I am a casual user that uses the base accounting of the program
Cons: My work is for First Nations that have a Limited Partnership Corporate setup. I find the linked accounts for taxation are not applicable for Tax-free First Nations applications and it is awkward to amend linked accounts to better streamline accounting for First Nations the are tax exempt.

Good to have a user friendly app that has tech support. Has been a positive interaction and will continue with Sage at our business
Pros: Easy to use. Non techy senior is able to use the parts of Sage that are needed for our business without issue
Cons: Cost seems high. Some parts of the app don't apply to our needs so I have not fully utilized everything.
Dave M. · Property Manager · Non-Profit Organization Management · May 4, 2026
I have using sage 300 for almost 40 years. The knowledge base and technical support are best compared to the other software companies I use.
Pros: It is a very robust suite of accounting software. It is easy to troubleshoot issues and apply fixes.
Cons: There is always a fix to correct an entry but myassistant has been awesome with the higher level of support issues.
Lori B. · Vice President · Construction · May 4, 2026
great system for us. If need help someone if always available at year end or during the year if any issues do come up.
Pros: Works for what we need. Easy to run reports and simply to use. Able to drop reports into excel to use the numbers that I need for report.
Cons: can only go back one year for payroll reports. Hard at beginning of year and if need to what did prior year closeouts.
mark s. · accountant · Construction · May 4, 2026
Only easy to use if you’re a professional bookkeeper, apparently. Not intuitive at all. I wish I could start over with another product.
Pros: That I have figured it out, mostly. It took many years but I can do just the basics now, thank goodness.
Cons: So expensive! Gone from 300 to 900 in 10 years. Clunky. Not intuitive. Easy to make errors that aren’t flagged.
Holly K. · Director · Libraries · May 4, 2026
Pros: Value for Money, Customer Support very helpful, Access to Information, Information Access, Reporting,
Cons: Not that easy to understand, Likely there is a very good support system, still would do it again in future

Overall, Sage Construction Suite is a powerful and reliable solution tailored for the construction industry. It’s best suited for mid-sized to larger companies that require detailed financial tracking and are prepared to invest time in setup and training. Once implemented, it becomes a dependable system for managing construction accounting and operations.
Pros: Sage Construction Suite excels in job costing and financial tracking. The ability to drill down into costs by job, phase, and cost code provides strong visibility into project performance. Reporting features, especially WIP reports, are detailed and useful for forecasting and decision-making. The integration between accounting, payroll, and project modules helps streamline workflows and reduces duplicate data entry.
Cons: There is a noticeable learning curve during onboarding, particularly for teams without prior Sage experience. Custom reports and configurations can require additional support or technical knowledge.
Joey M. · IT Manager · Information Technology and Services · May 1, 2026
Pros: I like that the functions are easy to use and understand. It has also made it easier for us to control our business costs.
Cons: There is nothing specific that I disliked about this program. Sometimes it works slowly, but other than that it has been great.
Jess C. · Accounts Receivable · Chemicals · April 30, 2026
Pros: Ease of use. Easy to understand, estimate reporting and creation can easily be done. Contacting customer support is easy as well.
Cons: Some features aren’t available online vs the desktop app. Hopefully that changes in the coming future.
Kyle V. · Senior Support Specialist · Information Technology and Services · April 28, 2026
frustrating as hell starting 2002, the constant change for the sake of change has not been beneficial to me, it has infact cost me time and money. unfortunately im so invested in the program that it doesnt make sense for me to change at this point in time. I may just go back to simple spreadsheets in the future
Pros: the stuff you didnt change, when something works stick with it, change for the sake of change is not a benefit
Cons: you changed items and how the items updating of cost works, ive used timberline estimating since 1999 and now I have to figure out how to use items again

Overall it is a great product, it has many features to help track what is needed, however it can feel a bit cumbersome due to its outdated interface.
Pros: Sage Construction Suite works really well on how it connects the financial side of construction business on what is happening on the job site. Instead of juggling separate systems, everything is tracked inside one system
Cons: I wish sage would update the interface as the current interface feels dated and clunky compared to newer systems. It can take time to learn as it as a large number of features and is fairly complex
Lyle K. · Project Manager · Computer Networking · April 27, 2026
My overall experience with Sage is a love-hate relationship to say the least. In order to get the exact report that you need, you need to make sure you have all the proper modules or have an outside agency create a specific report for you or if you make a report of your own, you need to have a degree in CSS coding or some sort of coding experience
Pros: There really isn't anything in particular that I like most about it. I'm used to it by now, so I understand how it works and that's really the most I can tell you.
Cons: It's not as user friendly as they make it out to be. If you need something specific, you need to have an outside agency do it for you, which costs money. With today's economy, you'd think they would make something a bit easier on the wallet, but that's not the case. They make you believe that what you need is included, but if you need something like estimating, that's not included in the base program. Despite needing an estimating module for construction, that's an extra. If you do serviceable work, that's an extra module added. I call Sage a money pit, because that's exactly what it is.

I've been in the property management business for 15yrs now and this is by far the most user-friendly program I use. If I were to ever have to recommend a program, I would absolutely recommend Sage.
Pros: The ease in accessing needed information and overall use of the program. Thankfully I have not had to use customer support but I'm confident that when/if I ever do, it will be a painless experience.
Cons: I honestly can't think of any cons at the moment. Everything seems to run smoothly for me and eases my daily workload.
HALLIE S. · Property Manager · Construction · April 27, 2026
Pros: There are many features for a business to explore and apply. If you have used Sage before you will be able to figure it out.
Cons: If an employee doesn't have experience it will take a long time to learn and become familiar with all the experiences.
Kelly W. · Admin Manager · Construction · April 27, 2026
I am very new to Sage only 9 months in. I have always used Quickbooks. Sage is a challenging process to learn but I understand why GC would use this program.
Pros: The tracking of each individual job is outstanding. Customer service is always very good and helpful.
Cons: After inputting it is not easy to fix an error. Everything is so difficult to change or adjust after enter. Need to make more user friendly.
Amy M. · Controller · Construction · April 27, 2026
I love the default dashboard, default reports, ease of editing sales invoices and bills to pay. Would recommend.
Pros: Sage has many default reports which makes it easy to grab what you need and start analyzing. Since it is downloaded on my desktop, I love not needing internet to login and get to work.
Cons: I wish it was easier to customize reports. For example, I need to pull the top 5 vendors every year for our IRS return, the current options don't make it easy to pull aggregate data by vendor for a certain period.
Kelly G. · Finance · Non-Profit Organization Management · April 27, 2026
Ease of use, easy to train employees, but I would like a report of our tax exempt customers which I have not been able to find, plus sometimes we need to know sales totals by state.
Pros: Ease of use and access of information and information access. Easy to enter AP invoices and AR invoices.
Cons: When we sales tax it does not work well with Avalara. Cannot figure how to get this done correctly.
Karen J. · Bookkeeper · Retail · April 27, 2026
We have been using Sage for more than 20 years. I believe it is still the best construction software available
Pros: I find Sage easy to learn and use. Estimates can be as detailed as needed and transferring information to job costing is invaluable
Cons: All Reports are not customizable and don't always meet our specific business needs The interface between estimating and job costing is a little cumbersome
Frances G. · Owner · Construction · April 25, 2026
Overall, my experience with Sage Construction Suite has been mixed but generally positive. It’s a powerful system that does a good job handling accounting, job costing, and project management in one place. Once users are familiar with it, it’s dependable and gives good visibility into project financials. That said, it takes time to get comfortable with, and day‑to‑day tasks can feel slower than in newer, more streamlined platforms. It works best for teams that have the time and resources to fully implement and maintain it.
Pros: I liked how well everything is integrated. Having accounting, project costing, and job management in one system makes it easier to keep track of projects without jumping between tools. The reporting is solid and gives useful visibility into costs and job profitability, and it scales well as projects get more complex. Once it’s set up properly, it’s a reliable platform for managing construction operations day to day.
Cons: The biggest downside is the learning curve. It’s not very intuitive at first, and new users usually need training before they can work efficiently. Setup and customization can also be time‑consuming. The interface feels a bit dated compared to newer platforms, and performance can slow down when working with large datasets or complex reports. Cost can be a factor as well, especially for smaller teams that won’t use all the features.
Ricky K. · Senior Engineer · Computer & Network Security · April 24, 2026
This is a reliable and user-friendly solution that balances functionality with simplicity. It performs very well in day-to-day operations and delivers strong value for its cost.
Pros: I’ve had a solid experience using this platform overall, with a few standout strengths, the pricing feels fair for the range of features offered. Customer support has been responsive and helpful whenever issues come up.
Cons: The app can be difficult for new users to navigate so definitely a learning curve and some training needed.

Overall, if I hadn't spent over $15000 implementing this I would no longer be using Sage 100. We are currently implementing shop management software (Strumis) that I'm hoping will cover our project management and payables approvals requirements, and if it does I will no longer use Sage 100. And *no surprise* Strumis and Sage will not be able to exchange any information at all. The costs are way too high for the lack of features, lack of integration options, amount of headaches, and lack of support. We're paying almost $8000 CAD per year on this, I absolutely do not find it worth it.
Pros: The internal integrations between PM and accounting and payroll work really well. Handling COs and progress bills is super easy. There's great accounting features - being able to lock periods is wonderful, and having a period option instead of just a date option (as in Sage 50) is amazing. Customizing reports is great. It's very NOT user-friendly, but if you can figure it out it's great, and you don't need any 3rd party to make it work.
Cons: As per usual Sage, almost NOTHING integrates with it. I have literally one option for payables approvals and importing and it costs as much as the annual on Sage itself. For the amount of money it costs leaves a lot to be desired. I can't even import a .csv without some sort of 3rd party something that I can't even be bothered to look into because there's no way any additional costs will be worth it. My "business partner" is fairly terrible and Sage won't let me deal with someone else. Getting support for Sage is awful. I have to go through the chat every single time, then escalate it, then wait for a callback. I have Sage 100 Contractor Canada, and Sage Paperless, but apparently they're two different companies and two entirely different support channels. But I can't get support directly from Paperless, I have to go through Sage who has no idea how to troubleshoot anything about Paperless. Nightmare.
