We are very happy with the service. Our staff and constituents like the ease of applying, reviewing and reporting on permits.
Pros: Ease of creativity in building the form and user experiences. Workflows are conditioned to provide universal permits with many options for our applicants.
Cons: Customizations are harder to come by. Need to vote for changes. Also, when we can update some things on the form or workflow existing records become negatively affected. For example, fees, workflow steps, etc might disappear from the records.

Without having much to compare it to, I’d say moderately good. In trading notes with my colleagues in other municipalities that use competing products, it seems none of them are particularly well liked lol
Pros: Web based so in theory perfect for remote work. Workflow feature to manage projects
Cons: Lack of info on past permits on the location page. Makes it impossible to see what a past permit was for. Inability to customize or turn off automated notifications. It’s a firehouse of emails that most people tune out or ignore.

It has been great, the best implementation the city has made in a long time.
Pros: The ability to assign workflow steps to specific individuals, and condition steps based off different form fields.
Cons: When making changes to forms - changes are not reflected within existing active records.

It's been great. We've had an 80% reduction in folks stopping in for help and a 50% reduction in phone questions.
Pros: Easy to use for applicants and on the municipal end. Can be easily customized to fine tune the process.
Cons: Very few issues with the software. It didn't take long to get local builders on board with the process. We do still need to assist folks who are very uncomfortable with computers.

Awesome!
Pros: Easy to use, service team has been great to work with, great outward facing appearance.
Cons: It is a bit expensive, but I think that's to be expected. We are getting what we pay for.
Angela C. · Director of OCED · Government Administration · January 11, 2022
Pros: This product made scheduling and inspecting permits much easier than our last product
Cons: It is hard to attach a drawing or picture to inspection permit
Ronnie D. · Civil Engineer Technician III · Civil Engineering · January 5, 2022
Pros: It's a great product compared to the competitors that being said the competitors are equivalent to use a typewriter.
Cons: Missing a lot of Features. Inspection Scheduling should be like Open Table for restaurants. Not easy to use for some of our senior inspectors. No Tablet/ Phone APP. Takes Days for tech support feedback.
Stephen L. · Electrical Inspector · Government Administration · January 5, 2022
Pros: Product is easy to use and great for the general pubic.
Cons: Notifications should be add to help our building department deal with those applying for permits.
michael s. · building construction inspector · Construction · January 5, 2022

Helps keeps the office organized.

Cons: Sometimes slow and has connectivity issues, could be our internet system
Alison C. · Administrative Assistant · Government Administration · January 5, 2022
Overall, it has been an easy and efficient product that i would recommend.
Pros: OpenGov is easy to use and has great functions for managing, and record keeping. It has made functions more efficient as I am able to quickly reference properties in the city and view all types of permits on file.
Cons: Sometimes there seems to be address units that do not show up in a quick search.
Victor E. · Planning Technician · Government Relations · January 4, 2022
Pros: Very easy to use and maintain my work loads. This program has streamlined out permit process and has allowed better interaction with various people across all departments.
Cons: Sometimes it is easy to look at the plans on paper. Sometimes I need to look at the plans on paper. Still this program has help me a great deal.

It is very helpful to write comments and check it later before submitting it.
Pros: It is very helpful to write comments and check it later before submitting it.
Cons: Editing sometimes is not easy. I wish it has grammar check option.
Yvette S. · Intern Planner · Architecture & Planning · January 3, 2022
Pros: Very easy to use. We were able to add a few things and tweak a few things to best suit our needs.
Cons: Sometimes there is an issue when using an i-pad, but I believe that is an i-pad problem.
Nickolas B. · Code Inspector · Government Administration · January 3, 2022
The overall experience has been great. Files are organized, easy to find and everything is paperless. Inspections are much easier and faster since the software is portable and permits can be issued on site.
Pros: Every individual project is in one file. Easy to use and find files as needed.
Cons: Upload voicemails to the system. This would be very helpful with Code Enforcement and Court.
Ben B. · Project Manager · Public Safety · December 30, 2021
Pros: Its easy to use. I can find customers easily and customize it so that I can only see our permits
Cons: took a minute to set up all of my tabs for customization but once I figured it out it has been a breeze.
Lynnette A. · Secretary II · Government Administration · December 29, 2021
good service for the user
Pros: easy to use user friendly. keeps track of the things we need
Cons: there are no features that need to be revised it works good as to what ne need daily
corey t. · engineering tech · Civil Engineering · December 27, 2021
Helpful with less traffic of people with the pandemic. It is more useful when documents are inaccurate you just send message and request information. This is also helpful when it is a renewal period, making the influx easier to handle.
Pros: integration very helpful during the covid period. Without the in person transaction the process through Opengov is so much more manageable.
Cons: I wish fixes with problems happened much quicker. It does seem to take a lot of time to resolve a problem.
Susan G. · Assistant Collector · Government Administration · December 23, 2021
At first you trust the company. as time goes by you lose faith in the company itself (not reliable and need to do things yourself) I get a feeling I know more of the software than the workers there.
Pros: Able to mess with majority of the important functions on the forms myself without needed to go to support, Record/application is under your control, User Friendly, can store documents (limited to file size though), can access anywhere as long as you have a phone.
Cons: stuff they say is not on product (hence title), expect to write a decent amount of tickets to support, pretty slow on resolving big issues (expect 2+ months), missing simple or fundamental options like giving renew button for applicant (have to go through a campaign, like what?), often document issuing problems, must know a little html language for document creation, "lesson for software" does not help at all (waste of money), expect your difficult questions in a zoom meetings ignored, "Roadmap ideas" take more than a half a year to complete (sometimes partial complete but it says complete), will ask you to be in meetings to say good things and not bad things for sales (basically using you)
Anonymous User · Plan Examiner · Government Relations · November 3, 2021
Pros: Combines all permit under one address. Look up an address and you see all permits and inspections.
Cons: Need to add more inspection type titles.
Jim C. · Wiring Inspector · Government Administration · January 8, 2020
Allowed the community to register their dog themselves. And pay via credit card. The problem is that we have had some issues that came out of the blue. We were supposed to start a renewal campaign on 1/1/2020. The system, on it's own, switched the date to 1/2 (on 1/1) and then on 1/2, switched the date again to 1/3. All by itself. Recently, we've had more glitches in the system. Printing formatting changes (from no where). Reporting issues, etc... Not sure what changed.
Pros: It takes credit cards and is available for community to use online
Cons: Many glitches in the system. Because it was built for building permits, requires various work-arounds to make it work for dog licensing. Work-arounds are not technical solutions. For example, when a dog dies, needs to do several steps to stop the record. Also, there needs to more levels of rights for users. Currently, the administrator has to do alot of the work. Need a mid-level rights for users with a little more authority.

Wonderful, responsive team to all questions
Pros: Ease of use, lots of functionality and reporting
Cons: Would like to print my own department reports
Diane P. · Assessor · Government Administration · January 6, 2020
Easy to use, easy to teach others to use. One of the easier software packages to learn.
Pros: This product is user friendly and very easy to use.
Cons: Unable to add multiple "other inspections"
Lori C. · Inspectional Services Clerk · Government Administration · January 6, 2020
Increased public use.
Pros: User friendly on the public side. Ability to customize the platform.
Cons: Reporting. Can't produce the forms we need, requiring us to still use paper forms.
