PerformYard is a performance management tool used primarily by small businesses in accounting, real estate, and financial services. It’s recognized for its structured review workflows and goal tracking, though some reviewers note inflexible contract terms. Our managers no longer take months to create an actionable plan, they receive one in about 10 minutes due to the automated process that occurs after inputting data into the system.
Pros: These heatmap things help identify areas that are causing people to quit, and you do not have to dig through multiple spreadsheets to find those areas. Right now I’m sitting at my messiest desk sipping on cold coffee trying to get this done as quickly as possible; however, their AI summary tool did not fail us when we ran our large-scale survey. Also, the support staff people answer you back in support chat and remember where you left off if you had to leave and then came back. They also provide us with benchmarking data of other technology companies so our board has some type of reference point (other than asking us) to understand how we stack up against others.
Cons: During our live review cycle in the middle of it, PerformYard moved where the reports lived which destroyed the dailies we send to the CEO and illy provided us with nothing but raw data trash. Every single time I attempt to view the different report categories using the back button I am completely logged out of the application. Additionally, comparing your current score to your previous years’ scores is not easy to accomplish.

I believe that remote workers feel a sense of connection via PerformYard. At least it’s better than the old manual spreadsheets we had for our 360 reviews. My personal goals match up to what the company wants to see so I keep the tab open to show that I’m moving my projects forward and they leave me alone.

Pros: I think the learning paths are fine or at least acceptable, however I wish there were a dark mode for my eyes. Being able to impersonate users is helpful when the employees can’t figure out how to use the social feed and I was pleasantly surprised that it did not crash this time. The user interface has improved.
Cons: However, I find the platform to be extremely slow and the mobile app to be very clunky. The biggest issue is that I cannot award multiple badges in one single post to the same employee which is a tremendous waste of time and therefore the recognition process feels like an obligation since I have to repeat it. There is no spell checker available for creating goals which is simply poor design.

This system has given us a formal structure - reviews are completed on-time, managers now have something to use when discussing promotions with employees and peer feedback is not lost in a manager’s email. Additionally, it replaced a paper based system for some of the teams. Being able to pull reports without having to build them from scratch is the biggest benefit.
Pros: Okay, the one thing that actually matters - prior to PerformYard, we were using Google forms to conduct peer reviews and receiving a massive excel file that the managers would have to sort through on their own. Now all of the questions, ratings and peer feedback are laid out in one view, and can be read. The 360 degree review layout is really good and the customer support is responsive, almost too responsive - I didn’t think that was possible. Coffee shop is loud today but I am going to press on with this.
Cons: Bulk edits are a pain. If you are running multiple review processes - for example, new hire reviews, and annual reviews - it is very frustrating to try and adjust a rating scale without causing issues with both, I have spent hours on this alone. There is also no ability to bulk delete completed or cancelled items, you have to go one at a time. It is the type of thing that causes people to sit staring at the ceiling. Petty gripe - there are two acknowledgement steps in the approval process and they depend on where you are in the flow, managers consistently miss the second one, and thus I am left to deal with the issue.

At least I don’t have my OKRs lost in a dead/spreadsheet anymore. At least my 1:1s are all in one spot (it feels a lot stiffer than just using a normal document). At least HR isn’t bugging me as often because they can see my progress without asking them.
Pros: I like that everything (the reviews and the OKRs) are in one place so I don’t have to have a thousand tabs open. I was surprised how well the AI tool helped with writing feedback, most of these tools sound like they were written by robots.
Cons: The mobile app is pretty bare bones, it really does very little. I have no idea why I’m getting manager training videos on my dashboard, I’m the Co-Founder , it makes zero sense. I feel like it is very plain and after a while it gets really dull and boring to fill out the forms.

Used to use spreadsheets and they were a complete disaster, all those broken cells. At least with this, the documents don’t get lost in the void of email, which is great. Just helps with the overall chaos.
Pros: PerformYard has taken both the review and the goal and put it in one spot and no, it’s not Windows 95. I figured it would be one more broken tool, and you know what? My notifications are pinging me, reminded me about the admin work.
Cons: Too many buttons sometime, and I get lost in the menus. The grading scale is silly. It’s always 1-5 for everyone and this isn’t fair for a new person. How can a Junior get a 5? And I had to do manual entry for absence policies and that sucked, had to click a lot.

Pros: PerformYard got the job done when it comes to annual performance reviews, as we didn't have a feature embedded with our talent management system at the time.
Cons: It wasn't as customizable as I'd like, and it would be sometimes difficult to navigate and/or use. It became redundant when we switched talent management platforms.

It has been a profound tool for performance management without the excessive complexity of suites, and it allows linking individual goals with those of the company
Pros: I appreciate that it adapts to different performance cycles, facilitates goal tracking, and automated reminders
Cons: Initially, configuring the system to reflect complex processes may require more learning time, that´s all.
Gabriel W. · HR manager · Financial Services · December 9, 2025
A robust platform that digitizes and optimizes performance, reducing administrative tasks and enabling complete customization
Pros: The major advantage is that it combines the flexibility to configure customized performance cycles and with excellent goal management
Cons: The reporting functionality should be more sophisticated to provide predictive analytics and deeper data, ideally without requiring extensive setup
Michelle K. · Senior HR Business Partner · Staffing and Recruiting · December 4, 2025
My experience has been positive because it is effective in transforming performance management into a continuous process and it benefits me greatly by getting rid of manual proceeses.
Pros: I really like flexibility, and as a human resources manager, its important to me because it allows me to manage multiple types of assessments within the platform, which saves a lot of time and also allows me to tailor feedback to the actual needs of the team.
Cons: So far, what I dont like is the customization, because we need options and I see it as limited. thats the only negative.
Hasina A. · IT Operations · Information Technology and Services · November 10, 2025
My overall experience with PerformYard has been positive, especially because its a comprehensive performance management solution that transforms our evaluation processes, enabling us to achieve our goals. Its excellent, and I would definitely recommend it.
Pros: I like the flexibility in the process design and I value the ability to adapt and supplement the forms and evaluation cycles to align them, and I love its interface, its totally intuitive.
Cons: For now, I dont like is the employee synchronization with HRIS systems. bu the rest of the platform works well and I like it.
Mariajose M. · HR Director · Information Technology and Services · November 3, 2025
PerformYard has allowed me to keep all our performance conversations and documentation in one place. Before, we were using spreadsheets and google docs and it was very messy and easy to lose sight of the feedback. Now everything from goals progress to review notes is all within one dashboard which you save hours of time and makes performance discussions much more structured and data driven.
Pros: Mostly review cycles and tracking our employee goals throughout the year and I really like how organized everything feels and it is really nice to have each review cycle clearly laid out and I don’t have to chase down my managers to update me on where everyone stands. I also created a form for collecting peer feedback prior to our review cycle and it contributed to a more balanced and equitable feelings about the evaluation.
Cons: I appreciate how the admin interface has been designed, though I understand that it may feel a bit uncomfortable to some users particularly when it comes to setting up review templates and changing questions mid cycle and when goal tracking and review could be streamlined to fewer clicks. Those things may feel a bit cumbersome but I do not believe it significantly detracts from efficiency.

After 3 years we decided to go another direction. Functionally, this will get the job done. We wanted a performance management tool that helped remove the human error to the process, so we went another direction for that automation.
Pros: Our account rep did a great job helping us get it setup at the beginning. [sensitive content hidden] also helped quickly when we had a support issue once. She took the time to go step by step and helped us figure out the solution. They also offered the text of commonly used review questions for you to create and setup yourself.
Cons: The "integration" with Gusto sounds much better than it is. It pulls over the employees name and email most of the time. Less than half the time it pulls over their direct supervisor. That is the extent of the "integration", so it is easier to just do the setup yourself on their platform. The automation is also not what I was expecting. We thought we could configure it to automatically launch review cycles for employees based on their hire date. That is not possible and PerformYard recommended we just launch the review cycles on a monthly basis for every employee. That method works, but is sadly one of the key reasons to invest in a tool like this.

Pros: It seemed like it would be useful but it was not for us. The demo looked like what we were looking for but it did not match our needs. We paid for a year and tried to use it but did not find value. They are now trying to force us to pay for 2 more years for a product we don't use. Thats as low as it gets for a business. You only see what they want to show you in a demo. Its dishonest to force people to pay for a product you don't use. We would never have signed up had we known.
Cons: Not intuitive. Clunky to use, lacking scheduling ability, reporting is poor, was not as useful as expected. Company depends on forcing contracts rather than providing value.
Jamie H. · Ceo · Construction · June 26, 2025
Terrible, I would never recommend this company to anyone. If you’re looking for a similar product choose a competitor.
Pros: Nothing. There is noting good about this company. They value money over helping their customers. Do not contract with them.
Cons: Terrible customer service, force you into a 3 year contract with no exit. Do not use them you will regret it.
Michael C. · Federal Programs Team Lead · Education Management · April 16, 2025
PerformYard helps me keep track of my goals and performance at work, it's very intuitive!
Pros: Overall, PerformYard does a great job with core performance management.
Cons: It requires some workarounds and manual effort in certain areas.
Courtney B. · Leasing Agent · Accounting · April 1, 2025
Disappointed. They have a 3 year non refundable contract which was not explained during the sales process and now I am being held hostage. Business is all about great partnerships and this is not one of them. I would highly recommend working with a different team.
Pros: Initially I liked the concept and it seemed like they had a great onboarding process and support system
Cons: The software is clunky, the dashboards are boring , and overall we have found much better software programs that are already integrated into standard payroll platforms.
Devin C. · President · Construction · February 20, 2025
Positive experience. The software effectively does it just job, but does not go above and beyond.
Pros: Very easy to use and navigate. Meets all basic needs and requirements related to function
Cons: Very basic - no advanced or special features
Alan O. · Business Analyst · Sports · January 14, 2025
My overall experience has been amazing with the software, I have had no issues.
Pros: What I like most about PerformYard is how fast and easy a process it is for team reviews within the software.
Cons: There is nothing I currently dislike about PerformYard.
Olivia B. · FOA · Medical Practice · August 30, 2024
Pros: User-friendly interface, easy goal tracking and performance evaluation.
Cons: Occasional glitches in the system, could use more customization options for reports.
Alexia F. · CMO · Consumer Electronics · August 29, 2024
I felt as though my employers who chose Perform Yard are concerned with my opinions and feelings.
Pros: Perform Yard gives me an opportunity for direct input into how the organization I work for. Because it allows employees to enter their own comments and not answer questions that are carefully constructed to derive a specific set of answers.
Cons: I honestly can't think of any cons in regard to Perform Yard.
John B. · Compliance Specialist · Non-Profit Organization Management · August 14, 2024
Pros: The user friendly graphic interface. It is very easy navigate.
Cons: Nothing that really sticks out to me. I maybe wish there were more ways of receiving notifications on to-do’s.
Devon P. · Associate · Accounting · August 13, 2024

The application is clear and concise. It is a clear passage for employee and employer to monitor progress and attention to certain aspects of my position.
Pros: Accountability and transparency. I appreciate the fact that I am able to review my own personal progress and reflect on past notes.
Cons: I have yet to have any direct complaints or concerns at this time.
