GCPay is cloud-based construction payment management software that automates the payment application process between general contractors and subcontractors. The platform streamlines lien waiver creation and exchange, compliance document collection, and electronic payment processing. GCPay integrates directly with construction ERP and accounting systems, eliminating duplicate data entry and facilitating smooth payment information flow. The software's reporting and dashboards provide visibility into payment applications. AIA document integration simplifies compliance form exchanges. Collaboration tools enhance communication between project stakeholders. Electronic payment capabilities help reduce payment delays. GCPay addresses billing errors, supports cash flow management, and helps mitigate project risks.

Pros: Smooth and ease of system and notifications available in the system. Support is very responsive and knowledgeable.
Cons: Not all notifications that go to the tier vendors are able to be received by the subcontractor also. Also the UCW and compliance handicaps the GC in ways for payment releasing.

It is easy to see why the general contractors like using GCPay; however, as a subcontractor I find it infuriating that the cost of billing is passed on to us.
Pros: Billing is quick. Completing G702703 is pretty much fool proof. I can see when the billing window opens without relying on contacting the GC accounting department.
Cons: Many times there is conflicting information regarding billing instructions. The check off list will say a notary is required; however, the document does not need to be notarized. Also, as someone with severe bone on bone arthritis in my hands, having to click repetitively in your check off list is excruciating. There needs to be a check all box.

Our onboarding team is fantastic. So responsive, helpful and patient as we learn the system and our roles within!
Pros: I appreciate the control it provides the GC to prevent subcontractors from billing for change orders before they are approved as well as the required collection of compliance documents before payment is released. Additionally the ability to collect and approve the schedule of values will be a great help in preparing the owner SOV as well.
Cons: The process of setting up e-payment was quite cumbersome. The ability to complete the forms required and save them for owner signing would have been very helpful.

Pros: I really appreciated how easy GC Pay was to use. The security of a well knew company is always a plus when handling large amounts.
Cons: Different method than what I am use to. Training my crew and getting everyone on board with a new system is always a challenge.

Overall is a great product for billing. The ease for looking up and finding information for each project is helpful.
Pros: Electronic billing is so much easier for submitting than paper billing forms. I also like the step by step process when submitting the monthly billing. Tells you what you are needing and/or are missing.
Cons: Billing for stored materials can be a little confusing. Would prefer to see previous material billings moved to the "previous" billed columns & not added to new month's billing.

I wish more of our Contractors would use this it would help with not having such a crazy paper trail.
Pros: I like how it keeps everything organized with jobs. From when important documents are expired and it reminds you to keeping pay apps organized and having vendors upload lien waivers easily.
Cons: At first I didn't like GC PAY because I couldn't understand the site and how to navigate it, but they have a number you can call for support and they helped me a lot.

GC Pay is a solid tool for construction payment management and can significantly improve efficiency once users become familiar with the system.
Pros: I like being able to see where applications are in the approval cycle, and the system does a good job of centralizing documentation. This can save time compared to handling everything manually.
Cons: There can be a bit of a learning curve when first getting started with the platform. Some tasks aren't especially easy to figure out, especially for new users who aren't familiar with digital pay application systems. A little more guidance or simplified onboarding could make the experience smoother.

As a GC, using GCPAY is easy to learn and efficient. While I do hope for future rollout of being able to edit applications, I really appreciate the waivers feature that makes my life a million times better.
Pros: Easy to view and sort through multiple pay applications as a GC. Love the waivers feature makes our lives a million times easier.
Cons: GC cannot edit or create pay applications on behalf of a subcontractor like in Procore. (it's just needed sometimes.)
Cristy G. · Project Manager · Construction · March 5, 2026
Used on several projects now as a sub contractor. It has been a good experience so far. Set up is simple I also like the compliance features.
Pros: GCPay is simple and easy to use. Very straightforward and intuitive. It is much easier than other programs I've used in the past.
Cons: I would like to be able to adjust the SOV into sub items that add up to the Contract SOV. This would allow me to be a little more granular with my billings.
Lystra P. · VP · Civil Engineering · March 5, 2026
My experience with GC pay was efficient. I didn't have to spend any more time then I need to to get paid.
Pros: I liked how simple it was to submit change orders and payments. I also liked how the payments are individually listed, and the statuses are recorded.
Cons: There was a slight learning curve but it wasn't awful. Normally if there was an issue it was on GCPay but the party paying me.
Brandyn M. · Owner · Construction · March 5, 2026
I enjoyed the ease of use. They platforms emails letting me know where in the process my payment submittal allowed me to not waste time on phone calls to the project manager.
Pros: It was easy to use; as a subcontractor it is challenging to get paid using platforms that take a rocket scientist to navigate and this platform was easy to learn; Additionally the platform works intuitively so things make sense once you understand how the application thinks.
Cons: My contractor did not choose to use GCPay for the project management; their choice was to use an additional platform which for our company was tedious. Why not use 1 platform for everything?

Customer service has been amazing for both myself and the subs that have to reach out for assistance. They are quick to respond and resolve the issues that may arise.
Pros: User friendly setup for Contracts and subcontractors. It's a time saver when having access to look at all subs in one spot.
Cons: The ability to filter subs on home sheet to lock the the filter so you don't have to search and filter the subcontract each time you go back to the home page.

Very good experience. I would like to continue using this platform in the future. It was very helpful and easy process in doing paperwork.
Pros: Very easy to use, it would take me a few minutes to create and submit a payment application. I also liked the notifications that would be emailed to me when something was approved, received, due, etc.
Cons: No alert or message on account when you logged in. You would have to go the tabs or projects to find what waivers are due.
Arron G. · President · Construction · March 5, 2026
GC Pay is probably the best platform I have used for application for payments because it really does all the work for me and I don't need to create new spreadsheets or invoices each month like I would with other projects that don't use this platform. It makes billing projects really easy and accurate. I love that all I need to do is input the data and upload the needed documents. Five stars!!
Pros: I like how easy it is to use and the visibility it offers for both the GC and subcontractor. It is especially helpful that it walks you through all the requirements needed for the project and shows what is outstanding. I also love that it saves your work and allows you to come back and pick up where you left off in an earlier session.
Cons: One improvement that could be made would be receiving a notification when the application for payment has been disbursed. I know other platforms will send an email when the payment has been sent to us which is really helpful when tracking payments.
JENNIFER S. · Senior Project Specialist · Construction · March 5, 2026
Pros: Simplicity and ease of use, very straight forward. No questions as to what is going on compared to other similar software
Cons: Inability to complete billing without certain conditions being met, more a problem with other conditions

We’ve had a good experience using GCpay to manage the pay application process on construction projects. Instead of chasing emails, spreadsheets, and paper lien waivers, everything is organized in one place, which makes the process a lot easier for both the project team and accounting.
Pros: One of the biggest benefits is the lien waiver management. Having waivers tied directly to the payment workflow helps reduce risk and keeps things organized, which is a big deal when you’re managing multiple projects at once.
Cons: Like any system, there’s a bit of a learning curve at first, especially for subs who haven’t used it before. But once everyone gets used to it, it really helps streamline the billing process and keeps documentation much cleaner.
Addison V. · Controller · Construction · March 5, 2026
Overall experience with GC pay I would describe as beneficial for Sub contractors (us) and general contractors (customer) the ability to share information real time.
Pros: What I like most about GC pay is the value for money of the services provided at an acceptable rate per month.
Cons: What I like least about GCpay is the additional cost incurred from a specific GC just for submitting their pay applications on the portal, in addition to the GC pay cost of service. Example: Durotech charges $15 per pay application.
Mandi G. · Director of Accounting Operations · Accounting · March 5, 2026
We wish more of our general contractors would use GCPay, rather than platforms like Textura, that cost us a portion of our contract to utilize and are significantly less user-friendly.
Pros: It is very user-friendly and streamlines the entire billing process for subcontractors. Out of all the contractor-focused payment sites we use for our various general contractors, GCPay is the easiest, quickest, and is also free to us. Lien waivers only take seconds to fill out and compliance documents are easily uploaded.
Cons: We really have no complaints. We've never encountered issues with entering billing applications or receiving payment.
Margaret H. · Office Manager · Construction · March 5, 2026
Overall, my experience with the pay app has been mostly positive. The interface is simple, which makes it easy to track payments and manage transactions.
Pros: One of the best advantages is the speed of payments that can be completed in seconds. Very convenient and efficient way to send and receive money.
Cons: The only think I dislike is that you can't tell if items have been uploaded or not. It says items have not been uploaded when in fact they have.
Laura C. · Office Manager · Construction · March 5, 2026
Great as compared to others in the construction industry. So much user friendly than their competitors.
Pros: Very easy to learn and track payapps. Monthly submissions are accessible and handling of lien waivers is easy.
Cons: When you open GC Pay, there are the projects listed which is great; however, it would be nice to see the company's name with the project.
Sissy D. · Director Credit and Collections · Construction · March 5, 2026
Pros: Short entries to upload billings when contracts are in place, reducing the need to email our clients.
Cons: Our contracts are not being loaded, leaving us two months behind in being able to upload billings to the system. Our client defers us to GCPay as a third party to resolve.
Susi S. · Project Accounting Supervisor · Civil Engineering · March 5, 2026
I am very happy using this software; it has made my entire billing period much easier and more manageable. I look forward to more of my clients joining the system to further streamline our collaboration
Pros: The software is very user-friendly and intuitive. I love that it gives General Contractors the flexibility to customize application submissions to fit their specific needs. For subcontractors, it’s a game-changer—it significantly reduces paperwork and keeps everything organized and instantaneous for both sides.
Cons: The only downside is the processing time for payments. It currently takes several days for funds to become effective, which can be a bit slow compared to the efficiency of the rest of the platform.
Teresita U. · Controller · Construction · March 5, 2026
Overall, I would have to say our experience with GCPay has been a positive one. Everything in one place.
Pros: GCPay made it easier for us as a subcontractor when we have to submit invoices and forms to the contractor. It saves us time and keeps us up to date on whether our invoices and waivers have been approved via email.
Cons: I had to really think hard about this question because I don't believe there is anything I don't like about GCPay.
Ileana C. · Office Manager · Construction · March 5, 2026
Great to use. User friendly Effective notifications on pay app approvals after each pay has been submitted
Pros: Ease of access and review. Bill percentage vs left to bill Levels of approval Ease for contractor to upload documents
Cons: Adding items after SOV has been approved at the beginning of the project. importing previous bills from a different platform
Saran S. · Sr, PM · Construction · March 5, 2026
Been a great learning experience and an effective, organized way to submit pay apps and waivers with less errors.
Pros: Very easy layout. Moves through the steps easily, making pay apps and waivers simple to submit with easy navigation.
Cons: All was good, no major issues. Everything functioned as expected and was simple to use throughout minus not being able to add tier vendors once you have submitted applications.
