STACK helps small construction teams manage digital takeoffs and build accurate estimates from uploaded plans. It’s most used by daily users in estimating roles who value its speed and cloud access. Takeoff tagging and aerial imagery tools stand out, while limited customization and pricing complexity remain common drawbacks. Recent updates focus on automation and centralized estimate tracking.

STACK has been a wonderful product for our takeoff needs and we are looking forward to utilizing the estimating features.
Pros: Our sales rep, [sensitive content hidden] and trainer, [sensitive content hidden], have been a pleasure to work with. They respond quickly and thoroughly to resolve issues and have provided great support throughout the years.
Cons: Lack of stamp options and we haven't seen the audit feature that we were told was rolling out earlier this month. It would be nice to have a "lock" feature where the bid set cannot be inadvertently modified by takeoff operators - especially as you can't undo it.

This is the first estimating career I have had so there have been a large learning curve. I feel like the Stack software made the transition for learn how to properly estimate much easier than if I started without it
Pros: The is software intuitive and they are always listing and trying to make it better. Being able to customize your library the way that you see fit for your industry is extremely beneficial.
Cons: We bought the Excel expansion through Stack and it has not worked out well for us. Very confusing and isn't really helpful

Overall, it is WAY better than any of the other services/apps we have used, and keeps getting better as they develop it more and more. We just added the AI and it is legitimately useful for certain things. I’d estimate that we have cut our take-off and estimating time by about 30% because of changing to STACK, and that we are getting considerably more accurate reviews.
Pros: Awesome support, great people, clean interface, support for detailed assemblies, ability to build out and maintain your own instance without having to hire someone, very sophisticated estimating interface, constant stream of upgrades and improvements.
Cons: There is always room to make it better - like every app we use I can think of things I’d love to have added. And, like everyone I have found small details which for my own uses would ideally work differently, but when I ask about them I generally can see that the reason it is designed the way it is was because of what the majority of users need.

It has been a good experience so far. I look forward to more training sessions so I can maximize stacks full potential.
Pros: Stack allows be to generate take offs and verify measurements quickly with confidence. I especially like the overlay feature which allows me to see any discrepancies between drawings.
Cons: I takes some time to sit and learn the functions. The training sessions help but finding the time to go through them is challenging.

I believe it is a very smooth app that is constantly being improved and upgraded which is nice. Excited to eventually see more AI features, hopefully we see a Autonomous Takeoff feature in the future.
Pros: I enjoyed how smooth the software ran, there were not many glitches or mistakes that the app made. I do not use many features but the ones I did use ran well. I also enjoyed the layout change that was made earlier in the year I think it made the app more efficient.
Cons: I believe Stack needs to add more pdf editor features such as the ability to erase a certain part of the plan or document. I also think when you create a text box or callout, your mouse should automatically click into the text box so you can instantly start typing. The way it is now makes you hit escape out of the text box and then you have to click back into it and change font size to start typing.

Overall, it is a mostly great experience. I prefer it over most other estimating software's I have tried.
Pros: The thing I like the most is the actual look and design of stack. It feels very modern compared to other software. I like how everything seems to flow together and everything is east to find.
Cons: Price compared to others is extremely more expensive. One of our biggest issues is with addendums (updates) for plans. When we receive and update, sometimes we have to replace the whole sheet in the original plan. When we delete the original and drop in the new sheet. It automatically gets put into a random place. If would be VERY helpful if we can move and drag the sheet to the correct order for organization. Some other issues are getting laggy when doing lots of takeoffs. Also, sometime the middle mouse button glitches out and stops moving the sheet. It'll switch to when I click with the left mouse bottom, the screen will move but when I click again it stops. I have to close the program to fix this issue.

Our company is a development company, so doing lots of estimates is not something we need. But we do need robust project management systems. For us, STACK is overly developed on the estimating side, but not developed enough on the project management side.
Pros: The estimating section of STACK is excellent. Take off tools work great, including the ability to overlay plans. The help subjects and support for estimating is very good as well.
Cons: The build and operate (project management) portion of STACK is much less useful and workable than other available systems. The mobile app does not work with Android phones or tablets. The photos are not easily viewable/searchable.

Overall we use the every day and we like it. We track many aspects of our projects with it and it is extremely helpful.
Pros: The scaling feature works really well as well as having the ability to isolate items and keep the separated
Cons: The printing from stack can be tricky to figure out as it downloads to pdf and then you have to open a new pdf to print

It’s a good tool but expensive for what it does. It works but AI will make it obsolete for many customers if you don’t stay ahead of the curve and start offering customer focused solutions. Why would I pay these huge subscriptions otherwise
Pros: Takeoff tool easy to use and visually effective Ability to Turn on and off takeoffs. Easy enough to create assemblies
Cons: No real history / snapshot of estimate. Once assembly changes your estimate changes. Poor AI integration to be able to get estimate into your own presentation template No customer support for Australia time zone No schedule and or cashflow integration. Not a project management tool. It’s an estimating tool.

Good. I am new to the company so it has been a learning experience. It is definitely user friendly. I like how everything automatically saves.
Pros: I like how you can search specific words and numbers in your plans. It highlights everything for you.
Cons: The overview is hard to get back to again after you've clicked on multiple items. Its hard to find your way back to all items.
Vicky S. · Estimator · Construction · May 15, 2026
Overall, my experience with STACK has been very positive from a functional standpoint. The core takeoff tools are intuitive, fast, and highly reliable, which has streamlined our estimation workflow. However, the experience is held back by the pricing model. While the software itself works great, the annual price increases for added features we don’t use makes it feel less cost-effective over time. If they offered more flexible, tiered pricing, it would be a perfect solution
Pros: What I like most about STACK is how intuitive and user-friendly the basic takeoff tools are. Cloud-based scaling, auto-count features, and the ease of measuring areas and linear items make the initial estimation process incredibly fast. It dramatically cuts down the time it takes to get an accurate takeoff together, allowing us to bid on more projects
Cons: The pricing structure feels rigid. Every year, new features are introduced and the subscription cost goes up, but our team only utilizes the basic takeoff tools. We end up paying a premium for a bloated feature set that we don't actually need. I’d love to see user-specific or tiered pricing so we aren't forced to pay for upgrades that don't add value to our specific workflow

I've implemented Stack at 2 construction companies now. One of them as an MEP sub and one as a demolition sub. It's worked great for both if you know how to build it.
Pros: User interface and flexibility for building estimates. Excel formula functionality makes it easy to build take-offs. We're beginning to explore linking Stack with Sage Intacct for accounting which is a great feature if it works as described. Customer support is always quick and responsive.
Cons: The servers sometimes have issues causing lag. There have been a lot of changes to the UI recently which causes a minor learning curve for each patch, but overall, it's not a big deal.
George C. · Estimator · Construction · May 15, 2026
It has been great! Cross referencing in this program is great and really helps streamline our quoting.
Pros: The value of the product vs cost is great, I had an employee move over from another service and has been amazing at how smooth stack is. Customer service is amazing
Cons: I would honestly say the lack of AI support for underground utilities projects and waterworks. I understand its hard with how many things arent called out for but it would be nice to have something more there.
Jeffery H. · President in training · Construction · May 15, 2026
Positive and trackable. I can mostly follow what has been done. but there should be a notification on the takeoff list that indicates that we have assigned items and or Assemblies.
Pros: Adjustability in relation to Assemblies. allowing me to set my own sections for the project I am working on.
Cons: labor for estimate of work to complete. needs to be individual in our case for every item due to conditions at each site. I need to learn how to get a better itemized take off based on MY assemblies. Also Stack needs to communicate when a suggestion is made, so we can guess if it may or will not be implemented.
Bret W. · Construction Division Manager · Commercial Real Estate · May 15, 2026
It has been great so far. Very user-friendly application. I will find out more as I use the application, but very pleased so far.
Pros: I like how well the plans get sorted and downloaded. It is a great platform to perform take offs with.
Cons: Sometimes you have to sign out and then sign back in for certain features and functions to work properly
Christian M. · Project Manager and Estimator · Construction · May 15, 2026
Stack has proven to be very accurate for takeoffs. I have used several competitor products and would rank Stack as a top tier product
Pros: The ability to follow/trace curved lines in takeoff during takeoff performance makes the quantity produced much more accurate and much quicker to perform the task
Cons: Platform seems at time to be unstable. I must exit program and restart to eliminate this condition.
Waune B. · Project Manager · Construction · May 15, 2026
The people have been super friendly from the start, and they do always try to help. Being able to use the chat to start support is great as well. I do my best to attend their webinars about new features as well.
Pros: The price was very the right mix of features and dollars when compared to other software like it. We are a small operation and couldn't a high purchase price plus training costs. The training was included for stack, which was great.
Cons: For the roofing industry they do not always seem the most knowledgeable about how to help us. Their examples seem to be plumbing or concrete which doesn't always apply to what we are trying to do.
RJ V. · Owner · Construction · May 15, 2026
Pros: It is easy to use and it's very reliable when it comes to takeoffs. It helps us a lot when we need to bid projects.
Cons: It doesnt update in real time. If someone changes something while i am also on the project, it doesnt update, i have to go and refresh the page.
Aidee L. · Project Coordinator · Construction · May 15, 2026
I would say it is an ok experience, but it could be better, I wish that you had the option for turning the snap points on and off just like the cardinal direction for the lines.
Pros: I like the surface area calculations, and how it visually works and functions. It has a nice UI compared to other programs.
Cons: I dislike the estimating workbook. It does not entirely capture how we process our estimates and does not have the flexibility of just exporting it as an Excel sheet and transferring the takeoffs to a workbook.
Matthew B. · Exterior Estimator · Construction · May 15, 2026
My experience has been excellent. It has reduced our margin of error in bidding significantly. We are winning more profitable work because our estimates are more detailed and backed by solid data.
Pros: The accuracy of the measuring tools is top-tier. I particularly like the "Item & Assembly" structure—it ensures that when I measure a wall, I'm not just getting linear footage, but a full breakdown of studs, drywall, and insulation. The reporting is clean and professional for client presentations
Cons: It’s a premium product and the pricing reflects that. For very small shops or solo contractors, the cost might feel a bit high compared to basic desktop tools, but the time saved justifies it for us.
FHIDMANF F. · ceo · Real Estate · May 15, 2026
Good, makes our jobs a lot easier and more efficient with the ability to use stack software. Would recommend.
Pros: The ease of use and convenience for drawings on projects. Marking up and making measurements on drawings also came to mind.
Cons: Our account allows one user to edit at a time which I know is something we can fix but I do wish there was a better way to allow multiple users to edit at the same time.
Rob B. · Project Manager · Construction · May 15, 2026
Took a couple months to get up to speed - overall a good value, just wish there were a few more feature (taper being the biggest one)
Pros: Simple UI, Not a steep learning curve. It has the capacity to build out large databases to make assemblies
Cons: I wish there was a taper feature. The only reason at this point that I would consider using Edge is because of the taper package system.
Michael D. · Estimator · Construction · May 15, 2026
Very happy with it! I was hesitant at first and it sounded like it was too good to be true but once we started using it, I realized it's a great product
Pros: The software works fantastic and I haven't had any issues and it's really easy to use. As I mentioned below, I was very hesitant about using this software and figure there'd be a bunch of issues where I'd have to create my own workarounds, but it's been seamless
Cons: As of right now, I haven't found anything that I did not like about Stack. It's rare that I buy software where I didn't find anything about it that I do not like. I'm sure people will be very hesitant about using it, but you won't be disappointed
Chad B. · Sales · Construction · May 15, 2026
My overall experience is good. No complaints. Easy to get my takeoff for my estimates. The ability to give your drawings a colored key is an big plus.
Pros: The ease of setting up a job folder and applying pdf files. The ease of having other people in your company log on to view the takeoffs without having to send them via email like a cad file.
Cons: Understanding how to set up the libraries, tags, lables, reports, and estimates. Sometimes the automatic line grab gets annoying when im trying to grab a faint line the program doesnt pick up.
