ShipStation helps small businesses manage shipping and order fulfillment across multiple sales channels. It’s most used by retail and ecommerce teams that ship daily and value fast label printing and rate comparison. While users praise its tracking and automation tools, many cite weak customer support and limited inventory depth. Recent updates like automated rate shopping and product bundling reflect its shift toward smarter logistics.

I used ShipStation for my ecommerce business and eventually moved away from it because the problems started costing too much time. The software has a strong feature set on paper, but in practice I dealt with enough recurring issues that it became frustrating. Packing slips, account funding, label purchases, and support interactions all became pain points. I need shipping software to be boring, reliable, and fast. ShipStation had moments where it did that, but over time it became one more thing I had to babysit instead of a tool that made fulfillment easier.
Pros: When it worked, ShipStation was useful for managing orders, buying labels, printing packing slips, and handling day-to-day shipping from one place. The basic concept is good, and for a while it helped streamline fulfillment compared to doing everything manually through each carrier or sales platform.
Cons: The reliability and support became the major problems. I ran into repeated issues with packing slip formatting changing or breaking, label purchasing problems caused by small account/funding mismatches, added payment processing fees on labels, and support that often felt slow or unhelpful. Some features that should be basic seemed to get pushed behind upgrades or became harder to manage over time. For a small business, shipping software has to be dependable. If it creates extra friction during fulfillment, that defeats the purpose.

Overall, ShipStation has been a reliable and effective solution for streamlining the entire shipping workflow. Once you get comfortable with the interface, it significantly reduces manual work and keeps fulfillment running smoothly. Even with a few usability challenges, it remains a strong platform that supports business growth and operational efficiency.

Pros: ShipStation offers a powerful set of tools that make managing orders, printing labels, and handling multi‑channel shipping far more efficient. Its automation rules save a huge amount of time by reducing repetitive tasks, and the platform integrates smoothly with many major marketplaces and carriers. The dashboard is organized in a way that helps you stay on top of fulfillment without feeling overwhelmed.
Cons: Despite its strengths, ShipStation can feel complicated when you’re first learning the system, especially if you manage multiple stores or carriers. Some features are buried behind menus, and certain advanced tools require extra setup that isn’t always intuitive. Pricing can also become a concern for smaller businesses as their shipping volume grows.

ShipStation used to be a fantastic platform, but the changes they've made recently to cut costs by downsizing and offshoring their support have been very worrying. We used to love
Pros: Being able to ship and fulfill all orders accurately and in 1 place. It is fairly easy to use for both regular users using the UI, and advanced users utilizing the API.
Cons: $92

Ramzi H. · Responsable RH · Medical Devices · April 22, 2026
The platform’s greatest strength is its ability to centralize orders. Whether you are selling on BigCommerce, Shopify, Amazon, or eBay, the sync is nearly instantaneous. It eliminates the manual labor of jumping between different marketplaces, allowing us to manage every shipment from a single, unified dashboard.
Pros: ShipStation Review: A Decade of Reliable Scaling After 10 years of managing logistics through ShipStation, it has remained the backbone of our fulfillment process. Transitioning from a small startup to a high-volume e-commerce brand requires a platform that evolves alongside your needs, and ShipStation has consistently delivered on that front.
Cons: Prices went up in recent times and it's a bit high for our volumes at the moment. Other than that it's been always reliable

Overall, ShipStation is a fantastic tool for managing shipping/tracking with multiple ship vendors. Accurate cost references, detailed tracking, detailed customer data, and efficient support are a few of the many reasons this tool exceeds expectations.
Pros: ShipStation combines all the necessary shipping and tracking tools needed under one roof. While being a fairly cost-effective solution for warehouse teams, it is pretty robust. Setup is incredibly simple, which plenty of guidance from customer support!
Cons: The tool can be a little bit of a resource hog on more basic thin clients and lower hardware spec'd workstations. It does exactly what is needed though.

Pros: Super easy to use and integrates really well with our shopify site for live rates at checkout and was able to easily create a custom integration with netsuite.
Cons: While there are plenty of carriers on there, it does lack quite a few in Australia that would be nice if they had.
Dean B. · Marketing manager · Building Materials · April 1, 2026
Very, very positive, as a long-term user, it was easy to set up, has great features for tracking workflows
Pros: It's easy and intuitive to use, with great support and tools for everyday workflows, with good value for money.
Cons: The email notifications can be a bit overwhelming, but they can be easily managed with filters, and support is always available to help
Anonymous User · Head of Core experiences · Machinery · March 2, 2026
I like how easy, fast, it is to learn how to use and very responsive customer services is when you need help.
Pros: What i like most is the Tracking, Email Notifications, and Customer support. Also the setup was easy.
Cons: What i didnt like the most is not being able to update the SKU after they are saved and updating the UPC codes.
Anonymous User · Warehouse Leader · Consumer Goods · February 16, 2026
Overall I really like Shipstation as a whole. It really streamlines the process for sending out orders in a timely fashion
Pros: I like how easy it is to use. I also like how it is now separate from Paypal but still integrates well with orders.
Cons: It can sometimes be a little clunky when printing quick labels. It also requires a business name for when you are sending out.
Joe R. · IT Director · Education Management · January 8, 2026
My overall experience was a positive one. I would definitely recommend this product to others. I can only imagine that some big entity is going to try to merge platforms to increase efficiency of their product. I used it with PayPal and honestly miss the interface. It was a great product.
Pros: Ship station is easy to use. I was able to easily setup my account. I could track packages efficiently. The discounts on shipping were excellent. I never had any issues. When I made a mistake in ordering, it was easy to make adjustments. I never had to reach out to customer support which was nice. Everything seemed secure and easy!
Cons: I did not have any complaints with ship station. Once I understood the interface, it seemed very easy to navigate. Updating the address was not the easiest to do but once you understand, it is not bad. I would have liked some preset address options or better copy and paste options
Lucas B. · Owner · Retail · January 5, 2026
My experience using ShipStation has been very positive. The platform is easy to navigate and makes managing orders and shipping across multiple channels simple and efficient. I especially appreciate the automation features, which save time and reduce errors. ShipStation has helped streamline my shipping process and improved overall productivity. It’s a reliable tool that I would recommend to anyone looking to simplify their shipping workflow.
Pros: ShipStation is easy to use and makes managing orders and shipping much more efficient. The automation features save time, and having all carriers in one place simplifies the entire fulfillment process.
Cons: ShipStation can feel overwhelming at first, with a busy interface and a learning curve that takes time to fully understand and use efficiently.

ShipStation has been largely positive, especially when it comes to its seamless integration with ecommerce platforms. WooCommerce, in particular, connects effortlessly, making it easy to pull orders, manage shipments, and keep everything in sync without extra work on my end. That reliability has made day‑to‑day fulfillment much more efficient. The main drawback has been the responsiveness of support. When everything is running smoothly, ShipStation is a huge time‑saver, but during moments when you need quick assistance—especially on tight project deadlines—waiting for support can be frustrating.
Pros: It's seamless integration with ecommerce platforms, one in particular I use frequently is WooCommerce.
Cons: Support can be slow at times, which can be especially critical if you're working on a project with a short deadline.

We have a warehouse, we have ecommerce sites, we have a remote warehouse. Because of the ability to integrate all aspects of our business for fulfilment we need ship station. (How did we do it before?)
Pros: Ease of ability to integrate multiple sales channels (Amazon, Shopify and esty) for both doing FBM as well as self fulfilled from our warehouse.
Cons: Changing product names on the sku level. It's too easy to confuse items, didn't seem intuitive if you're uploading manually a small number of items. (Works great with spreadsheets)!

Overall we have used Shipstation for over 10 years. At first it was good, they treated us like we mattered. After they were acquired by Auctane, our relationship has decreased dramatically. We no longer get responses from our Shipstation Rep.
Pros: It integrates with almost all of our shopping carts very easily. It is easy to teach our team how to use it to process orders.
Cons: They have started charging for things that used to be included for free. It now costs extra to use your own carrier rates. It also now costs extra to connect shopping carts or softwares that are not natively integrated, anything that requires and API, is an extra cost.
Ryan M. · Operations Manager · Consumer Goods · October 18, 2025
Great value keep track of inventory with ease defiantly a go to for anyone in the business sector..
Pros: I think this software is in a league of its own shipstation really hit it out the park great value with tracking
Cons: Customer service was not very helpful but only at first maybe that person was having an off day I’m not sure
Mike A. · Owner · Food & Beverages · September 16, 2025
Pros: Better prices for shipping versus order a label directly or walking into the store to ship. Robust system
Cons: Some features are a little confusing. Since there are alot of different moving parts it can be challenging for what i need to do.
Hillel G. · Director of Implementation · Hospital & Health Care · September 14, 2025
Pros: I used to sing their praises and recommend them to everyone who needed any shipping services. They used to be very reasonable and provide a nice amount of features on their lower-tier packages.
Cons: $93
Trevor Z. · General Manager · Retail · July 24, 2025
It was a pleasant experience all around to work with and I am grateful that I was able to use it during my time with my company.
Pros: Ease of use and ability to integrate so many different platforms into 1 easy to use interface is a gamechanger!
Cons: Still some platforms that need better tinkering and overall support, like TikTok Shop and Meta Shop for starters.
Jeremiah L. · Ecommerce Expert · Marketing and Advertising · July 11, 2025
Overall, I was happy with ShipStation when we used it exclusively for all of our shipments. We still use it as a backup when our other platform goes down for maintenance or some other reason.
Pros: ShipStation is fast and easy to learn and set up. This is a great solution for getting up and running quickly when syncing with your Shopify store.
Cons: I wish the rate shopping feature was available on the base plan. We ended up switching to another platform for the rate shopping.
Zach L. · Warehouse Manager · Apparel & Fashion · July 11, 2025
Labor intensive.
Pros: ShipStation is fine WHEN its working. It is nice that it sends emails and notifications to and from different apps.
Cons: Their security is insane. It's harder to login to my shipstation account than it is my bank, me credit cards, my 401k and more combined. I hate it. MFA is enough you guys, you dont need to make me login on a web browser every time I login then go back to my app and login again using MFA. Ridiculous. I also have to CONSTANTLY reconnect my UPS/FedEx/USPS apps becuase they just magically disconnect all on their own. Annoying as all hell, would be faster to just go to the individual apps and order the shipments.
Chris L. · Owner · Industrial Automation · May 28, 2025
Shipstation said we needed a new API Key. We were paying Bronze membership at 29.99. Now we have to upgrade to the Gold plan for $139.99 in order to be able to ship off our our Lightspeed online with Shipstation. I could see gradual increases over time but this is $110 extra a month while we are being hit with ridiculous tariffs and price increases. Also I would like to add that Shipstation employees write to me like I am in IT and I know what they are talking about. Then they send me links for more articles to read but which don't exactly get to the point. As soon as I can find a better shipping option, I will switch. This is a shady way to do business.
Pros: That I can ship via USPS, UPS, Fedex etc. It is an easy platform to use with Lightspeed.
Cons: $$110 monthly price increase. Repeated need to update API Keys. Writes to me like I am in IT and know what they are talking about. Not easy communication.
Christie Z. · GM · Retail · May 15, 2025
Terrible. I hate it everytime I login to the software at just how much they piss me off as a company.
Pros: When we first signed up they were great, it has consistently gone downhill as they nickel and dime you for everything.
Cons: Everything. Customer service, login process, offering free features then charging you for them over time.
Anonymous User · President · Broadcast Media · May 13, 2025
ShipStation Is used to process our Ecommerce sales and shipping needs. It works but UI is difficult to use in a high paced work setting.
Pros: Has many tools to help ship product at the most cost-effective price for your business.
Cons: User interface can be very overwhelming and cluttered making navigation and use difficult for team members
Kyle C. · Inventory and Operations · Automotive · May 12, 2025
They got incredibly greedy and care very little about their customers. Customer service is ok at best and tech support is terrible. The big issue is the MASSIVE price increase they are forcing on their smaller customers. In order to continue using their API, they are forcing everyone into a subscription that is 10x more expensive!! So many small businesses rely on that integration, which they have always included. Not only are they increasing the price, they only gave us a month's notice to find and implement an alternative. It's terrible! For them not to accommodate their existing customers is awful and just shows how little they care about us. You may not need the integration and think it doesn't affect you. Next time they pull this nonsense, it may be with something you use and rely on. Think hard before you spend countless time and money getting set up with them. They did this once, they will do it again.
Pros: Discounted shipping rates Until recently, the reasonable monthly charges Decent user interface
Cons: Incredibly greedy! They care very little about their customers Customer service is ok at best Tech support is terrible
