Submittable

Pros: I've used Submittable for over 5 years, entering various competitions and creating philosophical and healing poetry. Also, writing short stories (entered into competitions).

Cons: Nothing, in all honesty... I found it very simple and easy to use. Sign up was effortless, and seemed secure.

Pros: Super easy to use, very clear user interface and I appreciate the formatting of the follow up email confirmation.

Cons: Nothing of note to dislike about Submittable. I wish every organization used it for applications, interest forms, registration forms, etc.

Pros: Everything lives on the platform and it's very intuitive for everyone involved. • Improved administrative workflows • Easier and faster to create projects • A better experience for applicants • More efficient communication and collaboration • Quick access to data and reporting

Cons: There are always little improvements to make, but Submittable often requests feedback and launches different product updates throughout the year.

Pros: Submittable allows us to both accept submissions and integrate custom review and scoring and manage reviewers all in the same portal. I love the customization features and the user experience for applicants, reviewers, and administrators.

Cons: I wish there were a way to set a deadline for reference forms to be received. This isn't a major sore spot, but it would save some administrative headaches.

Pros: It's really user-friendly and easy to set up new projects. It's not overly complicated and you can figure out how to use most tools on your own.

Cons: The messaging component can glitch, as I've sent messages to people who did not get them sent to their inbox, and vice versa. Since I communicate with applicants primarily through messages, it can be frustrating to find that messages were not delivered. However, this doesn't happen often.

Pros: The practicality and ease of use are the most useful aspects of Submittable. As the grant administrator for a grant program, I found the onboarding process and trouble-solving to be straightforward.

Cons: I suppose that, since Submittable is constantly being updated with new features, it is not a final polished product, and it will require me to reach out to the Submittable team when I come across these new features.

Pros: Submittable has proven to be an exceptionally user-friendly platform for both our artists and grant applicants, who consistently report that the submission process is clear, intuitive, and stress-free. Our independent review committees appreciate having streamlined access to their assigned applications and find the scoring interface especially helpful, since they can view the full application and rubric side-by-side. The platform makes it significantly easier and faster for our team to create new projects, track submissions, and manage workflows. Customer service is excellent—responsive, supportive, and solutions-oriented. Submittable also provides improved data access and reporting tools that help us evaluate impact and make stronger decisions.

Cons: Reporting tools, although much better than before, can still feel limited when attempting highly detailed or multi-layered data pulls. Occasionally, updates introduce small changes that require adjustment for staff. Additionally, affordability can be a challenge for small nonprofits like ours; although the platform is highly effective, the cost can feel difficult to sustain within a modest operating budget.

Pros: I used Submittable for a few years at my last organization, and have since got my new employer to start using it. I find it incredibly user friendly (for both admin and front end users) and value the workflow and reporting I can track all in one place! I can quickly and easily put projects together, assign jurors, and analyze results. I really enjoy that everything is kept together for each submission - I do not have to hunt down forms or notes or images; it is a one stop shop from start to finish. I have used this platform for exhibition submissions, grant applications, retail events, and so much more for our non-profit arts organization. The platform is intuitive, even for those who do not consider themselves computer-savvy. Customer support is always great too, they have a wonderful team on staff.

Cons: I am looking forward to the continued improvements and hope to see more token use throughout form questions in the future.

Pros: Excellent customer service! Submittable representatives were extremely thorough and helpful in guiding us in how to create an application (in our case, for a Fellowship program) in Submittable and use different kinds of forms within the platform. This allowed me (one of the main users) to be confident in adding to the application or modifying it (e.g., after the deadline passed, reopening it or create a new form to send applicants in the Submitable system to collect additional information from them). Their helpdesk chat function was also excellent, with timely support and regular staff, so you were often chatting with people who knew your project. Once applicants had questions, they, too, could contact Submittable customer service directly instead of asking me (the person behind the application for the Fellowship) how to navigate in the platform or reset their password.

Cons: I had a very positive experience using Submittable for over 2 years. I do know it was expensive but also recall that there were no other good/viable options. One functionality that Submittable could improve is the formatting so that applicants can insert paragraph breaks and double spaces. It would also be ideal to be able to export from Submittable into PDF (not Excel only).

Pros: It helps you stay organized and on top of things.

Cons: The sales team. I haven't had a good experience with getting my questions answered.

Pros: The software is user friendly and customization of apps is great.

Cons: It is difficult to identify a time and this causes missing submissions sometimes.

Cons: There are a few features that are still coming online that will be essential for us, including document and email merge field capability within the system. Our previous system was strong on graphic capability, we will see how Wizehive is in use in terms of being able to quickly view and access data in a clean way.

Pros: The ability to streamline workflows in a user-friendly portal. I like the current platform's visual aspect and seeing where applicants are in the application process.

Cons: Hard to say at the moment since I just transitioned my workflow.

Pros: So far, our Implementation Manager has helped us solve all of the problem we have encountered and has taken our feedback seriously and passed it to the Dev team. Everyone is responsive and understanding and we feel like they really tried their best to make the product what we needed it to be to fit our program!

Cons: There is a lot of room for improvements and development, so we look forward to seeing that progress as we start our journey with WizeHive!

Pros: Submittable is a very intuitive platform that allows every employee to use - no matter what their skill level with technology. Adjustments to forms or applications can take mere seconds.

Cons: I wish we were able to search applications by more than just names. And, I wish we were able to compare applications with previous applications for similarities or duplicates.
