Pros: Easy and convenient reservations at many great restaurants. Also allows you to see the reviews of the space on the same platform which is great.
Cons: Not many dislikes, only note is that if you don't have location services enabled the app is not as easy to navigate.

Overall, my experience with OpenTable was positive and reliable. It’s a well‑established platform that excels at reservation management, offering a smooth and familiar experience for both diners and restaurants. The real‑time booking system, guest management features, and broad customer reach made it an effective tool for maintaining visibility and streamlining front‑of‑house operations. That said, the cost structure and limited flexibility stood out as challenges, especially for busy restaurants or those wanting more control over branding and direct customer relationships. Despite this, OpenTable remains a dependable, industry‑standard solution that delivers consistent results, particularly for establishments prioritizing exposure and ease of use.
Pros: What I liked most about OpenTable was its ease of use and wide reach. The platform makes managing reservations straightforward for both guests and staff, and its large, established user base helps drive consistent visibility and bookings. I also appreciated the real‑time reservation management, guest preferences tracking, and reliable integrations, which made front‑of‑house operations more efficient and improved the overall dining experience.

Cons: What I liked least about OpenTable was the cost structure, particularly for reservation and cover‑based fees, which can add up quickly for busy restaurants. Additionally, there was limited flexibility around customization and branding, and restaurants often felt dependent on the platform’s ecosystem, with less control over direct customer relationships compared to other tools. While the system is reliable, some features and changes also felt restrictive unless you upgraded to higher‑tier plans.

Pros: The ability to gain loyalty points and redeem them for gift cards. Also the ability to easily search which restaurants have availability in a certain map area.
Cons: Annoying emails asking me to write reviews. Some restaurants require credit cards just to book a reservation.

Useful in the sector to understand customer behaviour in relation to booking. Helpful when making changes to website, reservations or overall availability. Will continue to use it and hope it grows in the sector. Inspires trust too!
Pros: Open Table is easy to use, helpful when editing reservations, straightforward for Customer Communication and free of bugs and issues. It is useful for tracking customer behaviour regarding bookings and overall data analysis.
Cons: I would like greater depth of detail regarding customer data analysis, source of visit, time spent, repeat customer, payment etc. This would then be supported even better with AI powered analysis.

I have been very pleased and I’ve used it for many years. It is a very simple website to use, and I like that. It provides instant communication back to me, to include automatic calendar invites.
Pros: Great option for booking management. As a user, many restaurants have links on their websites to book reservations. I can also scroll the website for restaurants in my area and look at available times and seating options.
Cons: Nothing. The website is easy to use and widely accessible. I really don’t have any complaints. I highly recommend.

Overall I am very happy with OpenTable. I wish more restaurants used it so that it would be a one stop shop.
Pros: Hi, I love OpenTable. It makes it very easy to reserve dinner reservations without having to call and be put on hold.
Cons: The cons about opentable are the annoying texts, reminding me that I have a reservation over and over again.
Elizabeth H. · MYSELF · Accounting · December 27, 2025
Pros: I like that you can make reservations in the app and you will get notifications of upcoming events. It will also include in your calendar
Cons: Open table has very often not saved my log in info and I have had to create new log ins because I had issues gaining access to the correct passwords.

From a restaurant point of view, you would need a platform that automate most of the action without checking every single minute. It is very useful to boost last minute reservations, however not ideal as a main booking platform.
Pros: OpenTable is a good platform for bookings management. It has a great look from guests point of view. Customer support is always very fast and responsive.
Cons: OpenTable does not integrate anymore with SevenRooms, therefore it has increase the workload on the platform itself. Reporting section quite difficult to use.

Overall, I am very pleased with OpenTable. I use it at both of my restaurants and staff who work at both sites find it easy to navigate as they are used to the system. It is always easy to get in touch by phone with an expert from OpenTable who can explain how to do various things.
Pros: OpenTable is clearly the industry leader when it comes to restaurant reservation systems. It is easy to learn how to use and we can switch easily between our two restaurants within the same app. There are rarely any issues with the software and orders and table status are updates live across all devices, meaning that I can even see all the live tables from my phone when at home. OpenTable is not the cheapest booking system but when customers book through your own network (your own website) it costs a lot less. Any staff who are permitted to make changes can have their own log in for security reasons. It is easy to communicate with customers and message them if necessary - the advantage of customers ticking a box to allow contact for marketing is very useful too.
Cons: The cost involved when customers book through the OpenTable network. This is £2 per cover in addition to the monthly fee.

Pros: OBSESSED - I use it so much. I love the ability to reserve a table and give a notification to the restaurant for special reservations (i.e. birthdays)!
Cons: Not all restaurants are on it. I wish everyone would have their restaurant connected with Open Table.
Abbie F. · Owner · Sports · July 14, 2025
I book most, if not all, of my reservations through OpenTable. I have never had any problems when using them They even reached out to me one time when there had been an issue on their end, making sure that I was accommodated.
Pros: I love that OpenTable is user friendly. There isn't a lot to navigate through to get to what you need. Basic and easy to use
Cons: If I had to pick any con when it comes to OpenTable...not enough places use it! More places need to get with and use OpenTable, they will not regret it.
Jamie G. · Manager · Entertainment · July 10, 2025
Pros: It’s very user friendly, with tons of review to help anyone make a decision on where they want to go
Cons: Sometimes the log in process can be repetitive but that might be something out of everyone’s control. It’s good for security purposes.
Tyla J. · Coach · Health, Wellness and Fitness · July 9, 2025
Pros: Very easy to use for end users. Provides tremendous value and makes restaurants more appealing. OpenTable is an essential part of any restaurant's marketing strategy.
Cons: Categorization can be a challenge. Some places don't benefit from being pigeonholed as their creations aspire to work outside of traditional boundaries.

Open table is a great app for finding a restaurant, especially last minute or at a busy time. You can see what each restaurant offers and read reviews and find out who has a table you can reserve at the time you need it. It makes the reservation for you, so you don't have to call around to get a table. We have discovered new places they we really enjoyed by using this app.
Pros: Easy to use and many restaurants to choose from. Available reservations and wait lists help us decide where to eat.
Cons: Some places are not on the app or don't take reservations, so it can't really help with those, but at least it gives reviews to help you know if you will like it.
Aimee S. · Owner · Transportation/Trucking/Railroad · June 10, 2025
We've been using It for over 4 years and love it. It is easy to use for the Restaurant Management in the front and back end. We love how it has marketing tools inside the program so we don't have to add anything else on for internal marketing.
Pros: I love using open table for all Reservation Management software abilities as well as the Marketing side of Open Table. We've been using open table for over 4 years now and would recommend it to lots of restaurants in our area!
Cons: The pricing is very expensive compared to its competitors - which we understand due to all the usage you can get out of the software and it being well-known.
Katherine J. · Director of Marketing and Events · Food & Beverages · May 8, 2025
Pros: Very user friendly and a great page layout. It makes it easy for users to learn how to use and also be able to see reservations easy!
Cons: Initially hard to set up with venue space, but their customer service was great in helping!
Jackie I. · Events Coordinator · Restaurants · May 7, 2025
I recommend OpenTable for any venues that need exposure. It’s one of the top booking platforms if you can afford the service
Pros: I like that opentable has an app that’s easily accessible for venues. Super easy to adjust booking experiences, add users, monitor / limit functions. Tripleseat integration is a breeze.
Cons: OpenTable’s downfall would be pricing for venues. It offers great exposure but at a higher cost
Michaela S. · Event manager · Hospitality · May 2, 2025
Pros: Everything in one place including reviews for our six locations, marketing and reporting
Cons: Lack of customization with marketing, reporting, experiences and other daily uses
Meg H. · Sales and Event Manager · Restaurants · April 29, 2025
OpenTable is the best reservation platform out there - the widest network, the most connected.
Pros: There are so many restaurants available to reserve through OpenTable. There's no doubt, if I'm going to make a reservation, this is my first look.
Cons: I find it hard sometimes to access menus.
Jake S. · Program Manager · E-Learning · April 9, 2025
It’s a great booking system. OpenTable provides accurate ratings and feedback to make sure you are aware of your dining options.
Pros: What I like most about OpenTable is the simplicity of the app
Cons: I don’t have any cons at this time for OpenTable
Kelly B. · Owner · Cosmetics · March 6, 2025
Good with the setup and getting us to start. Very bad with ones you request to change the package.
Pros: Initial conversations, helpful to setup. Later we realized why.. (We are an Australian restaurant)
Cons: They have 2 packages. They use the cheaper package to compare it with the one you use and offer a free period to get you on-board. Then they say to try the other package and say it can be downgraded anytime. But, when they send the contract they add the higher package. After sign, they do not downgrade. That is the trick.

OpenTable serves its intended purpose well, providing a straightforward platform for customers to easily find my restaurant. It offers a functional and reliable reservation system, but doesn’t evoke strong feelings—neither exciting nor disappointing. Its main role is focused on marketing, and the experience is generally neutral without any standout features. The reservation system works efficiently, with solid functionality and a range of useful features. It does the job, though it doesn’t go above and beyond. One downside is the cost. The price can feel a bit high, especially considering the platform is primarily used just for reservations. And, The waitlist feature was not the best fit for us. Reason for Choosing OpenTable I've been considering switching from OpenTable to Toast for our reservation system but am still figuring out how best to communicate the change to our customers, both existing and new.
Pros: Optimized bookings, seating flow, and intuitive reservation booking. The status updates for tabling is incredibly helpful as well.
Cons: Our waitlist was too complicated to implement. We still use our own in house waitlist.. managing the app and walk-in's became a communication issue for staff and guests. The cost is a little more than we would like as well.
Joelle R. · Manager and customer service · Food & Beverages · February 13, 2025
Quick and simple with great convenience.
Pros: Have lots of restaurants that uses this app for diners to reserve table easily.
Cons: There is a limit on # of diners can be booked.
Frankie C. · Adjuster · Insurance · January 13, 2025
Excellent. I use it all the time for easy restaurant reservations.
Pros: It is an easy and convenient way to reserve tables at your favorite restaurants and cancel/reschedule reservations.
Cons: Sometimes you have to enter your credit card information for certain reservations and you are charged if you cancel.
