OS imaging and deployment is an important part of IT administration, but this task can also become tedious and time-consuming. With the OS imaging and deployment feature in OS Deployer, you can automate the disk imaging and deployment process, saving you both time and effort, as well as eliminating possible errors from manual deployment of OSs, drivers, and configurations. Administrators can capture the images of different OS versions, customize the images for deployment, and deploy the images

OS Deployer delivers a reliable and streamlined imagine and cloning tool that's very well suited for smaller IT teams, helping battle distribution of resources regarding workstation refreshes, hardware swaps and additional site deployments. While the initial configuration can take some trial and error with PXE and networking settings, once figured out it operates in a most set-and-forget manner with not much need for maintenance or admin intervention. The time savings from automating custom image deployments and functionality for remote node capabilities make it another cost effective and versatile addition to the manage engine suite at our org.
Pros: $6f
Cons: PXE networking can require some specific configs for DHCP settings and firewall rules; getting this right the first time is important as it can get complicated when dealing with differing subnets and VLANs. It can also encounter the occasional boot error but this is usually down to the individual hardware/BIOS settings; such as encountering secureboot or legacy/non UEFI boot issues, but as indicated these tend to fall more on the side of the hardware/laptop manufacturer and it's individual BIOS settings than on the OS Deployer tool itself. As with most of the ManageEngine suite, the interface feels clunky and not very modern and it's not uncommon to find 'unofficial' terminologies or typo's/spelling mistakes on some occasions, although where it lacks finishing polish it absolutely makes up for in practical function. This also feels quite trivial considering it's only ever a handful of admins that interface with the GUI.

Pros: The product has made deployment to mass workstations extremely easy for our staff. This has boosted our productivity
Cons: There has been some confusion with licensing/management that our Team has struggled through. We plan to review with our Team to improve this

Overall, the process was smooth, and the pricing was great even with the per device charge. I feel like this product is better than others that have similar offering, based on the price, and services offered.
Pros: The software is really easy to get setup and started. We've used it so far to deploy around 50 new PC's. The process to create a new image or "golden image" is very easy. Customer support has been great to work with!
Cons: The pricing for OS Deployer is based on a per device rate, I'd prefer that the pricing be flat rate, no matter the number of devices you need to image.

So far its been excellent product and helps reduce reimaging process IT Staff have been very happy and are able to learn the product easily
Pros: Good value for the money Ease of Use Windows Deployment is main feature used Once configured correctly works very smooth with little bugs and issues after
Cons: I haven't had any issues yet I only wish that we can have the OS image update itself with windows updates so that we don't have to after the image has been created.

Quick to setup and use. Support was easy to contact. Product keeps developing new features. Easy to use and get running with minimal effort
Pros: This software was simple to setup and get running quickly. This has made our Win11 deployment a simple task and allow us to deploy a rebuild of the pc so quickly
Cons: If you have to migrate to a different server, there is no import function as of yet to import your older images

Pros: The OS Deployer had a well-constructed web-based management console with a consolidated view and control of OS deployment in the network. This has a centralized control to improve visibility, standardization of management tasks, and to make deployment easier.
Cons: I realized that the centralized console took time to manage the deploys across different remote offices. It took time and demanded a double click to ascertain the flow that meant the deployment had commenced.

Pros: I was able to successfully utilize the User Profile Migration tool of the OS Deployer while upgrading all computers in our organization from Windows 10 to Windows 11. This made it maintain the user settings and data, therefore it did not interrupt our employees much while adapting to the new system.
Cons: I noted that the migration process sometimes overlooked some user-specific parameters, for instance, application settings. It took some interventions after the application deployment to recreate the full user ambiance.
Kevyn J. · Systems Engineer · Information Technology and Services · April 26, 2025
Pros: With the help of the PXE boot deployment feature of ManageEngine OS Deployer, I was able to deploy operating systems in our offices around the world without any physical hardware assistance. During the deployment, it was easy to add the drivers that were compatible due to the automated driver management.
Cons: When establishing distribution servers, I observed that it took a significant amount of time to configure the same. Any misconfiguration could result to deployment failure and therefore when deploying OS, all the settings should be checked thoroughly.
Hakim T. · Software Engineer · Electrical/Electronic Manufacturing · April 23, 2025
Pros: With ManageEngine OS Deployer, there was an option of performing live imaging, which helped minimize interference with the users’ activities. This capability eliminated breaks and made sure that the new arrangement of desks did not disrupt normal functioning at our firm.
Cons: We realised that post-deployment flexibility regarding the distribution of applications was inadequate. The installation process of some applications were also not as expected with the applications requiring additional installation.
Jhonny D. · Senior IT Manager · Construction · April 22, 2025
Pros: It made the distribution of operating systems across our international offices very easy since I implemented ManageEngine OS Deployer. It’s as easy to install on hardware as it is irrelevant to the underlying hardware setup to increase the need for multiple images.
Cons: We faced some difficulties in the proper management of the drivers. There were some cars for which the Nexus 720 didn’t recognize and as such needed to be sorted out manually so as to work as required.
Paketleme E. · Technical Support officer · Automotive · April 22, 2025
Pros: Es bastante facil de utilizar, viartualiza la imagen de una manera rapida sin errores.
Cons: Debe actualizarce el manual de usuario para evitar fallas.
Oscar M. · Analista IT · Information Technology and Services · August 22, 2023
Sebastian M. · Ing. Sistemas · Information Technology and Services · August 7, 2023
We were using Microsoft Tools to capture and deploy images and it was very slow to do both. We had to store multiple images and overall it just was a slow workflow. OS deployer reduced that workflow down to nothing and made it so simple to onboard new users and prep machines for them. Combining that with Endpoint Centrals ability to install software based on the user profile that logs in really sped up the whole thing.
Pros: It's fast. Really fast. It reduced our time to capture and deploy down to 1/4 of what it was previously. We have fewer images we store and overall just made the whole process easier. The fact that it's included as part of the Endpoint Central software we use just make it that much more convenient and useful.
Cons: Nothing that I can really think of. It may be different if it was used stand-alone (I doubt it).

Overall the software is at its best and heads in right direction in creation of managing of OS disks.
Pros: I have been using ManageEngine OS Deployer for last 6 months now and it made my life easier by helping in automation of disk imaging and deployement. And its best part is it provides us with possible security risks too.
Cons: Sometimes Images Creation takes more time which can be frustuating. They can also increase some more points and detailed instruction in their documentation.

Cons: Poor & misleading documentation, limitations based on windows/MS disk management capabilities, lots of manual work outside interface for many cleanup things

Pros: The user interface is very easy to use when creating the image of a computer, you can schdule tasks to display the image through the network using the mac address of the computer.
Cons: May be the fact that you need a DHCP server in order to deploy the image.
