Positive experience, effectively eliminating paper and reducing review times for a quicker release to market.
Pros: The review by exception cuts down batch review from 1-2hr to 15 min, whilst assuring process compliance and minimising operator errors.
Cons: Lots of clicks to move between steps and sections, add will as the limitation of VOD to validate the various flows.

Overall , it is a really great ebr program and has the features that are neccessary to make it function well.
Pros: We like the tracability. Being able to know exactly where everything is and on what step is helpful.
Cons: The set up is extreemly time consuming. You really have to have the bandwidth to set it up. We are still having issues with this part.

Pros: It keeps me well informed about the things I need to learn in the facility that are always updating.
Cons: Each item on MasterControl is too close together and is hard to navigate which Form/Document I need to find.

Overall staff finds it easy to use and easy to find their way around. Being able to flag documents easier would be helpful.
Pros: Simplicity is good. Super easy to navigate for what I need. Like to main screen having quick options.
Cons: Would love to have a dark mode or the light blue/ gray font darker. Sometimes a little hard to see.

Fantastic on the security side, haven't had any issues with password breaching on my end. When I use mastercontrol it it has the features I need to do my job. I like how the documents for my department are organized and structured.
Pros: The process is streamlined to the point of everything being labeled/named for what specific part of the job I need.
Cons: When too many people are on the system at the same time there is a massive slowdown. Sometimes it moves slowly to a crawl that barely anything can get done.

Overall master control excellence is easy to navigate, and simpler construction for end users. I’m looking forward for the AI as well as logbooks functions.
Pros: My company use master control for electric batch records. It’s very easy to use. I like it is able to perform Review By Exception.
Cons: I’m having challenges with the issue that Attachments are unable to be downloaded all together with the executed batch records.

I'm one of the admins that manage MasterControl, and a SME for Mx in my company. I find that this software provides a lot of consistent value to the company. It's impossible to consider going back to paper batch records. It can be tedious to manage, but possible to do so with a very small team. The platform is also intuitive and easy to learn.
Pros: Electronic batch records are a good option for digitizing manufacturing and creating value through improved efficiency and better quality. MasterControl's Mx production records is one of the best options in the field.
Cons: The company has a great willingness to improve their software, and has share the roadmap for good improvements down the line. But they just aren't putting out updates very fast, and when they do the quality hasn't been stellar lately.
Seamus G. · Automation Engineering · Biotechnology · October 9, 2025
Excellent. From sales, leadership, implementation and support, the entire MasterControl team has been a great partner.
Pros: Easy, intuitive interface for record building and EBR execution with review by exception. A great no code solution for fast implementation.
Cons: Minor inconveniences with building, but overall very good. These things are extremely niche use case for specific records that workaround scan be made for.
Donald P. · IT System Analyst · Pharmaceuticals · October 9, 2025
Overall, it is rather positive and would like to see more improvements to Master Control capabilities with integrations.
Pros: The Mx is very user friendly and easy to build templates. Simplify production process documentation as many fields can be automated.
Cons: The customer support is not the best, we have had many issues with records with issues that results in delays in release of product. The issues are backend and require MasterControl to resolve. The VoD tool was not working for awhile, which is used as part of our validation process.
Kalina B. · Quality Engineer II · Biotechnology · October 9, 2025
I believe the ease of the use of this technology and the versatility it presents has made our adoption one of the greatest improvements in processes. The service from consultants and services in general are great
Pros: The implementation process with the tool to build “skeleton BR” is awesome. We reduced the timeline to build all our templates significantly by using these compacted portions of BR that then we merge to cover the process.
Cons: There is a different approach later when all the BR are in production to execute a revision that is to be applied to groups of products or all the BR, as these revisions cannot be executed in bulk. We need to execute one by one

My overall experience with MasterControl Manufacturing Excellence has been extremely positive. The platform has transformed how we manage manufacturing and quality data by replacing manual, paper-based batch records with a fully electronic, compliant system. It has improved accuracy, traceability, and efficiency across production processes while streamlining communication between manufacturing, QA, and other departments. The ability to capture data in real time and review by exception has significantly reduced batch release times. Although implementation and validation require effort, the long-term benefits—strong compliance, audit readiness, and visibility into operations—make MX an invaluable tool in our digital manufacturing environment.
Pros: What I liked most about MasterControl Manufacturing Excellence is its ability to eliminate paper records and provide real-time visibility into manufacturing processes. The system ensures data accuracy, traceability, and compliance by capturing information directly at the point of execution. It streamlines batch record review, reduces errors, and accelerates product release. I also value how seamlessly it integrates with other MasterControl modules like Quality Events and Document Control, creating a connected, end-to-end quality ecosystem. Overall, MX has greatly improved efficiency, audit readiness, and collaboration between production and QA, supporting our organization’s digital transformation and continuous improvement goals.
Cons: What I liked least about MasterControl Manufacturing Excellence is that system configuration and validation can be time-intensive, especially when workflows require frequent updates. Any change to forms or process logic typically involves documentation, testing, and approval to maintain compliance, which can slow down implementation of improvements.
Stephanie R. · Sr. QA System Specialist · Chemicals · October 8, 2025
Pros: The platform allows for flexible workflow configuration, letting teams build process records tailored to their unique needs
Cons: Connecting MX to other enterprise platforms (ERP, legacy systems) can be challenging and may require workarounds
Neng V. · QA specialist · Pharmaceuticals · October 8, 2025
Pros: I like how easy it is to create production records and notify managers of oos events. I also like the visibility of the status of the production record and the significant figures.
Cons: I don’t like how the master template approval process is managed in Qx. I don’t like having to delete a packet if the master template is rejected. Can we remove the REVISED-REVISED-REVISED from the naming structure?
Matthew W. · Quality Engineer · Biotechnology · October 8, 2025
Has been a really good experience. Operator love how straightforward is the system. Production records can be made in record time with their templates
Pros: What I like the most is the user interface and being a saas solution. Given that is saas, we don’t have to worry about deployments or local servers
Cons: it does not provide SQL access to extract data. We found the the jreports or insights does not fit our needs
Andres M. · System analyst · Biotechnology · October 8, 2025
I’ve used it for document routing, document approvals, document distribution, supplier approval processes.
Pros: I like the reduction of paper records and not having to distribute controlled copies to different departments.
Cons: I don’t like that you can’t easily track the lifecycle of the document or task tracking, rather you have to click into the info card and find the right section.
Megan B. · Regulatory Affairs Associate II · Pharmaceuticals · October 8, 2025
So far it's been great, it's taken a second to understand how to create eletronic batch records and this is taking me longer
Pros: I like that I'm able to move everything electronic because on paper it's not efficient and corrections take long
Cons: It takes a really long time to make electronic batch records because ours are very long and they are detailed
Anonymous User · Quality specialist · Health, Wellness and Fitness · October 8, 2025
Great experience and user adoption to the module was one of the easiest we have had! The operators love using Mx and dread when there is early phase work that pushes them back to paper processes.
Pros: Love how the module has streamlined our processes and made the training integration seamless. Has drastically reduced the time and buden reviewing final batch records.
Cons: The inspection plans feature doesn’t work as well as we had hoped especially for a business that follows different types.
Ashley P. · Sr. Manager, Quality Systems · Medical Devices · October 8, 2025
MasterControl Mx is a system I would buy and implement again. They continue to expand functionality and build implement customer requests.
Pros: The user interface is code free to build master templates (batch records). Users get instant feedback when tolerances are exceeded. When customer support is needed, they use a good priority system to resolve problems in a timely manner. Many items were solved the same day.
Cons: We benefited greatly from a 120-day go live map from kickoff to implementation. Do not try to implement by yourself. Use subject matter experts to help configure the first couple records so your team can see how to build for success.
Jack Y. · Operations Manager · Pharmaceuticals · October 8, 2025
Overall it’s been quite a learning curve, and we are early in our implementation but very excited to see things coming together!
Pros: I love how open or locked down different phases of the batch records can be with numeric limits, decimal precision, etc. it’s incredibly customizable!
Cons: Building the batch record templates is a lot of work and there’s no good way to speed up the process.
Aubrey K. · QC Project Support Specialist · Pharmaceuticals · October 7, 2025
We are still within the implementation of this product so we haven’t had the experience of most users, but overall building the master tablets and developing the product is really good.
Pros: The Mx platform is easy to use efficient in really has a lot of features that other products don’t have. The production workflow is secure, intuitive and user-friendly.
Cons: Being able to add custom features and integrations is one of the biggest challenges right now. This would be a great enhancement.
Mike M. · Business System Owner · Pharmaceuticals · October 7, 2025
Pros: Properly creating record templates allows for a lot more consistency across manufacturing lines and facilities.
Cons: It would be nice to see more integrations with logbooks for equipment status. Specifically, if equipment is released for use.
Daniel M. · Manufacturing Operations Engineer · Pharmaceuticals · October 7, 2025
Its been a great experience being able to interact with MasterControl. Both the system and the vendor, every aspect of the brand is fantastic.
Pros: One of the best things about Mx is it user friendly user interface. Being able to easily execute, have automated calculations, sign-offs, data projections is fantasitic for our end users.
Cons: There are some features that are not there yet but one of the features i wish was there, the cascading calculation. Where a numerical value is subtracted from a dynamic value capture.
Elias E. · Manufacturing Operations Engineer · Pharmaceuticals · October 7, 2025
Excellent help from implementation and post go live helped us be way less nervous about the process overall
Pros: The support during and after implementation. The ability to add scanners to capture equipment info and training checks
Cons: Quarterly upgrades means for 8 weeks a quarter the sites are not aligned so can’t import to prod new templates
Patricia H. · EQMS sysadmin · Medical Devices · October 7, 2025
Overall electronic batch records has been well received by our company. Production likes the ease of use, the capture of who did a step and when enhances compliance, good documentation practices errors were immediately eliminated and auditors love the transparency and quick response time to see a requested record.
Pros: Implementing electronic batch records helped us to streamline our processes and minimize operator errors. It also shortened our record review time considerably.
Cons: The data lake refresh time is too long for any real-time reporting in Insights. Also, when to use tags is rather confusing.
Traci L. · Senior MasterControl Specialist · Medical Devices · October 7, 2025
Pros: It got us away from using a paper system for production records and master templates for our reagents lab.
Cons: The cost is extremely high per license. It’s forced us to reduce the amount of builders to one when we really need more but can’t afford.
