Great overall experience with the product and the ProEDI team is the best! If you’re looking for something affordable that still delivers solid performance, this is a fantastic choice.
Pros: The translator is easy to use and very reliable. We used it for over 20 years! Support is exceptional which is their biggest asset.
Cons: UI is a bit dated although it does not hinder the functionality at all. Other than that, there is nothing I can think of.

Pros: Great team and customer support. They will help you from the basics to more advanced help. Their team continues to be a partner in your needs.
Cons: We have not found any cons. The biggest value isn't just in the tech but the team behind it and their ability to help customers through an EDI challenge

Customer service was exceptional. We had a minor issue after implementation but it was resolved quickly.

Pros: On prem solutions are rare nowadays. This allows us to process unlimited EDI transactions without incurring additional expense.
Cons: The user interface is somewhat dated but is typically only used for initial setup and configuration changes. Ongoing tasks happen automatically.

They have been our EDI VAN for over 12 years, and I don't remember any system down situation. Very pleasant, knowledgeable people and easy to work with
Pros: ProEDI was selected by us due to its great value and fantastic support people. We run it on-premises
Cons: It is an older mapper and user interface. It is unable to send some forms required by our customers which we purchase as one-offs from a competitor

We've had a great overall experience with both the software and the customer service team from ProEDI. Fantastic product and service.
Pros: ProEDI Translator is incredibly easy to use and just WORKS! It's incredibly easy to use once it's set up for your organization. It's a great value for our money. If we ever have anything wrong in our data we can just take a look at the error report to see what was wrong and fix it.
Cons: I struggle to find anything that I dislike about the software. If I had to pick something then I think that the UI could use a more modern look but all we really care about is that it works and works well.
Virgil R. · IT Administrator · Medical Devices · October 14, 2025
Pros: It works all the time, every time. Once we set it up we don't need to worry about it again. The support is excellent - knowledgeable and fast.
Cons: Older-style interface, but definitely still usable. There is a bit of a learning curve, but ProEDI support is fantastic so they could get us through what we didn't understand.

Pro_EDI Translator provided a cost effective and flexible solution to our 834 Enrollment file challenge. It's a product that we use everyday but only think about when we have a new file to setup.
Pros: We have been using Pro_EDI Translator to handle our 834 enrollment files since 2011. The software has been easy to configure and once set up, we call it from within other processes to allow for automated file translation. When we have had questions support has been exceptional. Everything from answering a question to reviewing and correcting our configuration and setup.
Cons: The product has capabilities that go way beyond our use. As a user with a healthcare, not technical, background there was a learning curve. The documentation provided and customer support provided what I needed to implement the software.
Mark R. · Executive VP · Hospital & Health Care · October 13, 2025
ProEDI has been workable and clear. The translation process is clear, fairly easy to maintain, and when we need support, the people are always responsive and helpful.
Pros: From my perspective, ProEDI’s service has always been good. I have had a few occasions to contact their support, and they have always been responsive and helpful.
Cons: I can't think of any specific issues at the moment. When an order comes through that does not have the requisite setups, it can be slightly time-consuming to set them up, but that is more of a function of our ERP.
Douglas G. · IT Specialist · Environmental Services · October 13, 2025
This has been an amazing piece of software and the customer service team at Pro_EDI reaches out on a regular basis to make sure all is well.
Pros: We have used the Pro_EDI translator for over 20 years and it has been one of our few pieces of software that performs continuously and flawlessly.
Cons: After having used this software for over 20 years, I am unable to list a con. The software just quietly performs.
James L. · Manager · Food & Beverages · October 13, 2025
Was so easy to implement and effortless to continue the service. Very happy with our decision to go with Pro-EDI.
Pros: Great customer support, professional and not disruptive as some companies can be. Any questions are answered quickly and in an understanding way.
Cons: We didn't work with them sooner. There really isn't anything negative to say as we are very satisfied with our decision to implement Pro_EDI
Susan M. · Fund Administrator · Construction · October 13, 2025
Great! It's made my job easier... The support team is friendly, helpful and very quick to respond.
Pros: Easy to understand and the Pro_EDI support team is great!
Cons: Dropdown boxes need to show more items. Sometimes they only show 1 item.
Scott C. · EDI Coordinator · Retail · April 16, 2025
Pros: ProEDI was integral for processing our EDI 834 - Benefit Enrollment and Maintenance transactions. We have multiple dental offices and they don't all utilize the same backend system. The nice thing about ProEDI is that we are able to modify EDI maps so they align with each branch's IT system. The translation happens automatically in the background, and the few times we've needed Support their team from Cleveland has been great. Its nice having stand alone software, since these days everyone is trying to get a 'monthly fee' for EDI processing.
Cons: It was easy to use and we received amazing support throughout the entire pcoess
Nathan A. · Operations Manager · Food & Beverages · May 7, 2024
Pros: Pro_EDI was quick to implement and easy to use. I have been using it for many years with no issues.
Cons: It would be nice if there were free maps available.

Being able to communicate effectively and flawlessly drove our business to 20x growth
Pros: Our business is based on near real time communications and ecommerce fulfillment 20,000 orders a day. this system was very robust. We were seding inventory files every 15 minutes for 20,000 items plus invoices, tracking
Cons: I dont have any cons to comment on. Pro_EDI filled all of our needs
scott m. · V president · Wholesale · October 12, 2023
Pros: Not tied down to monthly fees, or other hidden expenses.
Cons: User Interface is becoming somewhat dated.
Chris P. · IT Manager · Import and Export · June 1, 2023
We are currently using the program to map all of our electronic benefit files to EDI formats for transmission to vendors. We are looking to fully automate this process, which the documentation and support have been helpful at pointing us in the correct direction so I am certain we will be successful in those projects in short order (we are just about to start on them).
Pros: The translator is extremely simple to use and we have used the same installation for many many years. Due to a software upgrade we needed a new version and support was _very_ helpful in getting us everything we needed to ensure a flawless transfer process. There is also great documentation included to facilitate full automation of the EDI file translation process, which has also been a massive help in our projects that are aiming to do just that.Support is fantastic!
Cons: There are no features that are readily apparent to be missing; the program does what it is supposed to flawlessly for our use-cases.

We used it in class to show the basics of what Electronic Data Interchange is, and how it works for processing invoices automatically .
Pros: We were able to use ProEDI in a Business Accounting class I teach. They had a trial version so it cost us nothing... and we just used it for the templates / dummy data to illustrate what EDI was to our students.
Cons: It was a little confusing and there was documentation but it was two large PDFs with alot of information.
Laura C. · Professor · Media Production · May 19, 2023
We looked into MANY different EDI options, but all the 'Software as a Service' ones were not going to be worth it for us , long term. We eventually found some software options out there, but they were geared towards fortune 500 companies. ProEDI worked with us on the pricing since we just needed something simple, and didn't want to pay monthly fees. We get paid more quickly now too which is nice.
Pros: We needed to do EDI in order to get paid quickly by ONE particular customer. It was not going to be worth it for us unless we knew the 'sunk costs' of EDI every year. Every other option out there wants to charge you $99 a month plus setup fees to do EDI... which would have been a wash for us. This company was able to work with us on the price since we only needed a simple outbound 810 Invoice to one other company.
Cons: We had to re configure our export file to make everything work properly, but once it was done it was pretty simple.
Kyle D. · Owner · Media Production · May 17, 2023
Pros: After taking the class and learning how to use the software, the setup and translations were a breeze. The stability of the software is solid. We've been using it for the past 3 years without any issues.
Cons: There really wasn't any cons. But you do need to take the class to be able use the software. Like anything else.
Joey S. · Director of E-Commerce · Retail · January 29, 2019
Pros: It does what it is designed to do, translate EDI data to a text file and vice versa. Support is top notch.
Cons: It can be quirky when modifying layouts and maps. Save often and you will avoid 98% of these.
Josh R. · EDI/Web Developer · Furniture · January 28, 2019
Constant customer map changes are handled professional and quickly by the ProEDI translator and staff.
Pros: The flawless execution and reliability is what I like most about this software.
Cons: This has yet to be determined because it performs every task required of it.
Debbie B. · Office Manager · Warehousing · January 25, 2019
We are able to exchange EDI documents with all the major retailers. This places us on the same footing as our competitors.
Pros: The software is a professional grade EDI translator. It can handle any document with ease. The mapping process is simple and easy to use. It has been our only EDI translator for 20 years.
Cons: The Hp-Ux screen handling is a little touchy.
Dan C. · Vice President I.T. · Food Production · January 25, 2019
Customer Service great they are easy to work with but do not spend a lot of money on updating the interface.
Pros: Very Cost effective Easy to use Superior Customer Support
Cons: Dated interface Few options for Reports or auto sending of errors Need to run manually or via a scheduled batch
Rocco C. · IT Director · Automotive · January 22, 2019
We have been able to quickly set up and implement EDI with hundreds of customers at a very economical cost.
Pros: I love that you can set up as many EDI Trading Partners as you want with no extra charges. I also like that you can create as many of your own mapping "templates" as you want with no additional fees.
Cons: The user interface on the Unix version is a little dated. Would like to have a GUI rather than character based. Could use a few more "Conditionals" to allow for math functions. Would like the ability to add comments to each individual field or element "mapping".
Craig D. · eCommerce Manager · Consumer Goods · May 24, 2018
An automated EDI process handling thousands of documents a day.
Pros: Easy to interface with other applications. Excellent Tech Support. Fully documented to provide easy interfacing and use.
Cons: There is very little wrong with this software and it runs quickly on our legacy SCO Unix system. Once in a while it may hang for a few minutes, and that may be due to other operations on the system.
