They have been great. Stability has gotten way better than the earlier years with very few outages and limiting outages to a very short time period.
Pros: They listen to their customers and make changes/design modules accordingly. When there is an issue with your account, they are responding to tickets fast and solving issues in a reasonable amount of time.
Cons: It can be very overwhelming at first when you are faced with the implementation of all the modules. They do a good job of breaking it all down but some of the more complex modules like the schedule can be daunting.

Very positive. The program is truly built for the fire service. I have implemented this in two different departments with great success. A great group of people to work many of which have real world experience.
Pros: The all in one platform that is designed for the fire service. The system allows you to almost 100% customize to your departments operation and allows you to move to one central platform for almost everything.
Cons: As much as the system is modifiable, release updates are either slow to happen or are released with no explanation of the impact on other parts of the program.

Positive. The staff is responsive, helpful, and friendly. The system integrates well with all of our devices and CAD.
Pros: The responsiveness to requests. The system is very customizable, but there is a steep learning curve to the process. I have had about 75% of my requests for changes or custom reports fulfilled. The other 25% is a result of the system being unable to accommodate. I do, however, have two things to note. The Assets module is outstanding. Inventory control has never been easier.
Cons: It fills the cache on computers, causing the First Due web page to lag. To resolve this issue, simply restart your browser. Once I figured that out, things have improved, but it's still an inconvenience.

From implementation to ongoing support, First Due has proven to be customer-focused. They take feedback to heart and listen when customers find a product gap. The customer success program in which you meet with your customer success manager on an ongoing basis to ensure the product continues to meet your needs and provide a direct line to escalated support if necessary shows the company's dedicated to ongoing success and satisfaction. As they continue to work on building modules that communicate with each other and meet the needs of the developing trends in the fire service, the First Due platform becomes more advanced every day.
Pros: I manage 16 departments and they all utilize First Due in slightly different ways. Overall, the biggest compliant given about the First Due platform is that it's a one-stop shop for all the things they need to document on a daily basis. From an administrative perspective, the best part about First Due is their willingness to listen to their customer base. They have an ideas platform where users can submit product enhancement requests. Other users can view those and up-vote their favorites - and First Due actually listens and implements these ideas!
Cons: First Due is still working on their cross-module consistency and compatibility. In the two years we have been with First Due, this has improved immensely but there is still room for growth. Additionally, First Due has a deficit in report writing for the advanced user and in the ability to create custom forms for things like a printed incident report, investigation report, inspection report, etc. The form designer inherent to the system is not intuitive and lacks the ability to do much more than customize the logo header at the top of the page.

Excellent! From the inception to current use, this has been by far the best software our department has used.
Pros: Ease of use, multiple platforms and the customer service. I have always had issues resolved quickly.
Cons: There is nothing that I do not like about it. I think it is a great platform that is perfectly suited for my department.
Virgil W. · Fire Chief · Public Safety · June 9, 2025
From Implementation to go live First Due has been awesome. Keeping the customer in mind when requests are brought to the table and executing them.
Pros: First Due is an amazing product. From Implementation and training things went smoothly. Support is amazing and really engaged in the customers.
Cons: Sometimes no updates with minor bug fixes which sometimes has sections moved. Overall nothing really else.
Matthew D. · IT Administrator · Law Practice · June 9, 2025
From the very first demo, the team was able to show how the system could do what I asked, there were no empty promises of "let me see", they knew the system and how it could already meet my needs. After implementation the follow up on everything has been great
Pros: Customer Service has been top notch, nearly everyone has fire experience and understands the needs of a fire dept and can communicate on a firefighter level.
Cons: I really have no complaints, the implementation process went smooth for such a large project, the follow up on everything has been addressed timely
Lee S. · Deputy Fire Chief · Public Safety · June 9, 2025
Pleased. But I believe First Due has a lot of room to grow. I have seen a lot of change for the positive over the past two years. However, more is needed.
Pros: The ability to adjust to your department. Additionally, their willingness to work through issues and aid you in design.
Cons: The flow of the EMS reports. When compared to ESO, it does not match up. Additionally, how the warning errors are presented.
Daniel H. · LT · Public Safety · June 7, 2025
The overall experience has been great from implementation to rolling out to our crews. The client success managers are always wanting to
Pros: I have been pleased with the entire First Due Platform. The continued improvement and advancement is what I like most.
Cons: First Due is growing and advancing so fast it’s hard to keep up. I manage the platform alone and find it hard to stay caught up on new features.
Samuel I. · RMS Manager · Public Safety · June 6, 2025
Regarding my con and the constant change, I don't hate the change, more so the communication. It is great to see the tools evolve, become more robust, and the backend talk better to each other.
Pros: I love that I can do most things in one system. We have been able to eliminate 2 systems, and hopefully one more soon.
Cons: Improvements often seem to generate extra steps or are very undercommunicated. Entering date/time on apparatus is now painfully slow vs something I can do in my sleep. Things change before the release notes come out. When that effects the user experience, my phone usually rings before I know about it.
Chris B. · Deputy Fire Chief · Public Safety · June 6, 2025
Overall, we are happy with everything First Due does for our department. The system has helped us streamline and share information internally with our members and externally with other agencies. While we currently do not utilize all the modules First Due has to offer, we recognize the benefits the modules we don't use have, and as our department continues to grow, we appreciate that First Due will grow with us to continue to meet our needs.
Pros: First Due has the capabilities to perform the work my department needs all into 1 complete package. It's more than just Fire and Medical reports. It tracks all of my department's pay codes, member training hours, and integrates our pre-plans with the mobile responder app, giving us the ability to share information with our personnel and surrounding mutual aid partners with ease. Any issues we have had have been promptly addressed. The First Due staff have been great at listening to what we want and need out of the system, and have been very accommodating in helping us customize different modules to meet our needs.
Cons: Inputting individual equipment, hand tools, appliances, kits, apparatus, and their locations seems very redundant and time-consuming. While you can create custom check-offs for your apparatus, station, and equipment, the creation process can be slightly tricky.
Anthony P. · Fire Chief · Public Safety · June 6, 2025
We are so pleased with the product. Originally we were just looking at pre-plan software. Theirs was by far the best in the industry. We then added several more modules and are extremely pleased with all that we have. There is a learning curve that some users were finding challenging, yet once they had been working with the product a few days they are comfortable with it.
Pros: The product is top notch and the customer service is terrific. They are there whenever we need help configuring a module or solving a problem during production.
Cons: The set up for the system is quite lengthy. They do walk you through the steps needed to get it done. It can appear overwhelming but when broken down into small chunks it is manageable. I definitely suggest a team to do the implementation with tech savvy individuals on the team.
Paul M. · Communications Coordinator · Public Safety · June 6, 2025
First Due has been integrated into our department's everyday life and we love it. Our firefighters use it for preplans, asset management, response, and even our training tracking. Our department has really adopted the mindset that we have this technology, so we are going to use it!
Pros: First Due offers a one stop shop for all your fire department needs. It provides everything from the preplan to the finish of the call with the report. If you are looking for something to reenergize your software needs within the fire service, this is your place to be. They are innovative and listen to their customers when it comes to new technology and settings that helps the everyday firefighter. Whether you are a volunteer department or career, this software is for you!
Cons: We have had some tickets outstanding for a while that we have not gotten updates on. The price is also getting a little high. It seems like, at times, they release a new module just to get more money from you. Take for example the health and wellness module or the arson tab. What you would think should come int he base modules, is an extra add on. Somethings are understandable such as the EPCR or even the command module, but simple modules that would be useful for all fire services, should not be an extra fee just to have access to them. As other 3rd party vendors grown, they will start coming out with similar modules with all inclusive pricing which could drive people to look elsewhere to save money in the current economy.
Dylan R. · Fire Chief · Public Safety · June 6, 2025
Pros: First Due is great because of all of the different modules that we were able to combine to get rid off all the individual software that we were using. The mobile responder is fast and reliable.
Cons: The asset module needs some customizable fields for truck information. When requesting trade time it does not notify the person that is being asked to trade with.
Benjamin T. · Captain · Public Safety · June 6, 2025
It's been pretty good. Everyone has been helpful and responsive. It's the first platform that I've found that is pretty good all around. Most software systems only do a couple modules well and are not as encompassing as First Due.
Pros: They are constantly updating their features and modules. With each version the system gets better.
Cons: Some of the fields like contacts are not global within the modules and have to be entered in multiple locations.
Dennis G. · Director of Public Safety · Public Safety · April 23, 2025
From implementation a year ago to tweaking the products to fit our service has been very good. We are always finding ways of making it work better for an and the team at FirstDue has been very accommodating.
Pros: Quality and Pricing for small services specifically
Cons: Learning to use workflows was very difficult, I still do not think I know fully the capabilities of the software to tweak it even more. We do have a call set up to help me understand the process better.
Bob M. · Chief Adminstrator · Hospital & Health Care · April 9, 2025
Unhappy with this system. My department switched to this system at the beginning of 2025 and it’s been nothing but problems.
Pros: It’s okay other then anything to do with scheduling
Cons: Scheduled, the app, not user friendly. Overall very unhappy
Corey H. · Firefighter · Public Safety · February 25, 2025
We are a search and rescue team in remote Colorado. Our county switched to First Due as some of our county fire teams had heard good things about the software. I would give the roll-out and training a 1 out of 5: Lack of communication, training, and slow responses to our concerns. Since rolling it out I generously gave the app a 2 out of 5. It works as intended sometimes but as first responders, we need it to work every time. We now have over 120 emails going back and forth with support on issues the app has had. Our fire teams like the app, but they do not depend on it as an incident response app. We are back on pagers as our incident response tool due to the unreliability of this First Due.
Pros: It is a simple interface and when it works, it is nice!
Cons: Roll out was unprofessional. Customer support has been a challenge at best. App works as intended about 60% of the time.
Bobby C. · President · Public Safety · January 24, 2025
Pros: Work flow. User friendly. Incredible help desk and knowledge base. An all-in-one platform that outperforms all others!
Cons: Still in its infancy so there is so much more to do!!
Daniel K. · Captain Commander · Public Safety · November 26, 2024
First Due has a lot of features but you really have to take the time to implement and build it to your agency. Once in place it improves work flow for sure.
Pros: The scheduling system works well and is user friendly for our department. We went from an old "pen and paper" style system and this is a much better system.
Cons: First Due is growing very fast and making lots of good changes. Some of our requests from two years ago are still in the system and have never gotten a response.
Erick M. · Battalion Chief · Government Administration · November 14, 2024
As a fire service leader who has managed RMS systems for over 25 years, and personally managed 5 or more vendor transitions over that time, I can confidently say First Due is the first to meet all of our needs, and exceeds expectations.
Pros: First Due is one of the only emergency services records management vendors that offers an almost complete suite of solutions, covering almost every aspect of our operation and administration. The system feels purpose-built for the web and mobile environment, and the product is continually upgraded. There is definitely not a lack of innovation.
Cons: At times, there are so many new features and improvements that things sometimes get broken, causing temporary loss of some functionality.
Joseph M. · Battalion Chief · Public Safety · November 14, 2024
Overall, First Due has been a game-changer for our department. It’s made us more efficient, improved our community engagement, and given us tools to better manage both incidents and fire prevention. The ability to track assets, manage personnel, and use real-time data has transformed how we operate. It’s hard to imagine running a modern fire department without it.
Pros: What I liked most about First Due was the way it streamlined our entire department’s operations. From pre-incident planning to incident reporting, everything is centralized, making it easy for our team to stay prepared and efficient. The real-time data through the mobile app was a standout feature, giving our firefighters critical information in the field and helping us make informed decisions when seconds count.
Cons: It’s hard to call this a true "con," but the speed at which First Due continues to evolve can sometimes be a challenge to keep up with. The platform is constantly adding new features and updates, which is great for staying cutting-edge but requires us to stay on top of training and implementation.
Clint S. · Chief of Information and Technology · Public Safety · October 15, 2024
I really enjoy the app and program. Have been able to have my questions answered. Client success team has been helpful.
Pros: The different modules that they offer. Instead of having multiple applications, I now need just one for a majority of our day to day activities.
Cons: Need to be able to have a training system to put training materials on.
Charlie K. · Firefighter · Public Safety · October 9, 2024
Positive. Just moved over from ers to first due for nfirs. The end users had no complaints. I excited about the newerr features in the program that were shown in unify 2024. All about information sharing
Pros: How certain things can be customized to your departments needs, the support section has some good content to answer internal questions
Cons: As a non-computer person I get a little lost in the program. If i dont create or assign an asset in a few months its takes me alittle longer then I would like to relearn. But once I got it, its not a big deal
Paul L. · Captain · Public Safety · October 9, 2024
It has been good. Timely and Quick responses
Pros: The interactive with First Due personal.
Cons: I have not found any part of First Due that I did not like.
