Once you get comfortable navigating Ahrefs, the insights you get on keywords, backlinks, and competitors are hard to find anywhere else at the same quality.
Pros: What stands out most to me about Ahrefs is the way information is presented. The graphics, the colors, and the visual layout make understanding a lot of data feel effortless. For someone with an analytical mind like mine, being able to see complex data presented in a clear, visual way makes it so much easier to process, work with, and make quick decisions from.
Cons: Ahrefs is not cheap, and for a small business just getting started with SEO, it can be hard to justify the monthly cost.

Ahrefs helps me analyze SEO problems on my website. I use free SEO analysis tools, and it's amazing that they provide feedback and highlight what should be improved. The tool also gives me keyword suggestions that people also search for. This is very useful. I also love Keyword Researcher. We just input a keyword, and then Ahrefs will give more related keywords, including their scores. So we can decide which keyword we will use on our website, easily.
Pros: I really like all the free tools. Analyze and highlight a website's SEO issues, including keyword research and suggestions, a keyword generator, and more. Really like it.

Being an E-Commerce Manager, it is important to be visible on search engines. I apply this in the management of websites and competition. It gives profound information, yet it would be terribly costly to share seats within the marketing department to work in a team.
Pros: The features of rank tracking are extraordinary as our marketing team can track our positions in the retail keywords easily with an easy navigation.
Cons: The pricing model is not great on value of money to a mid sized retail team, and customer service takes too much time to answer an important security question about user access.

Overall, my experience with Ahrefs has been very positive. It is a reliable platform for rank tracking, competitor analysis and website management. The tool is easy to use because of its good navigation, and it works well for team collaboration when sharing insights with colleagues. Although the value for money can be a challenge for smaller businesses, the quality of data and stability of the platform make it a strong choice for serious SEO Work.
Pros: Ahrefs is very strong in rank tracking and competitor research. I can clearly see keyword positions and how they change over time. The navigation inside the tool is clean and easy, so moving between Site Explorer, Keywords Explorer and reports feels smooth. For website management, it helps me quickly audit pages, links and content gaps from one place. From a security point of view, access control and account management feel reliable for professional use. It also supports team collaboration well, because multiple people can review the same data and reports easily.
Cons: The biggest concern is value for money, especially for freelancers and small teams, because the pricing is high. Some reports are powerful but not explained clearly, which can slow down work for new users. For customer support, responses are helpful, but sometimes not fast enough when you are working on urgent client projects.

Overall, a really happy experience. Once you get to learn it, it just is very helpful for any SEO task.
Pros: The different kinds of features it has and how it is exactly made for every possible use case imaginable for SEO. It helps me find out keyword gaps, improve on page SEO, find hidden backlink opportunities, perform site audits etc
Cons: It can be a bit overwhelming and complex and times. Sometimes it does produce slow results also and has a slow learning curve.

Overall the traffic estimates Ahrefs show are extremely misleading my opinion is that marketing agencies should no longer use this tool as a point of reference about traffic levels on a website. The outdated impression of Ahrefs as a reliable reference is causing damage in the industry. The keyword search has been pretty good as an ideation tool, but I worry that now that they don't access 2+ pages of SERP they will no longer have the data to provide matching queries and related queries that were so great for my process. TLDR processes relying on Ahrefs need to be rebuilt now!
Pros: We are still a paying user of Ahrefs at TheoryDigital but honestly, there's less and less to like. I have been extensively using the keyword research tool though, to produce writing prompts. That's the only thing that's keeping me there.
Cons: They quit tracking niche keywords in like 2023, probably because of the server cost. So for websites in tiny niches the traffic would routinely be estimated as 0 unless you ranked on major, mainstream keywords. This costed webmasters agency business because some agencies had a process where they evaluated traffic based on Ahrefs and would not accept any alternative way. And now in 2025 they no longer track any positions that rank at over 10th place in Google, because the forced pagination in Google API would make their costs also prohibitive.

I've been a user of Ahrefs for many years. It's a treasure trove of incredible digital marketing data - particularly for SEO, PPC and social research. My personal opinion is that it's handling the pivot to GEO really well and remains a staple of my digital marketing toolset.
Pros: Organisation of massive data into really simple to follow 'flows'. I think just about everyone will find their own fairly unique way of doing the reporting they need but unlike some of the competition - that's fantastic! Find the data, deep dive into it, explore, collate lists, download, analyse. There's so many opportunities to use this data set.
Cons: I think tools like this start as one thing and then try to move into full stack analysis or usage tools. Ahrefs has done this - so perhaps you're paying for things you don't need - but it has handled it a touch more gracefully than other software.

Ahrefs has been invaluable for tracking SEO performance and finding keyword opportunities, making it a must-have for digital marketing.
Pros: Comprehensive SEO tools, accurate keyword data, and easy-to-use core interface. Great product marketing too!
Cons: Pricing might be a bit too high for small businesses (especially new GEO tools), and some features have a learning curve.

In general, I love to work with my Ahrefs Chrome extension. I have it pinned and always active. It helps me get all the information from websites and keywords.
Pros: I like that the platform is easy to use, and you can understand every feature the app has to offer. In general is super user-friendly. And I love the Chrome extension to get the information of each site.
Cons: At the moment, I like all the features I have been using of Ahrefs, and I don't have any cons to give you.
Nicole C. · Content Specialist · Information Technology and Services · June 10, 2025
My overall experience using Ahrefs has been very positive. I've used the platform for multiple businesses and have never thought to look elsewhere for a different solution.
Pros: I like that the ahrefs user interface is very data-driven and you can drill down into the data to gain further insight. The primary benefit for me is that it gives me access to data I wouldn't otherwise have access to.
Cons: The only major con is the pricepoint - it's quite costly for small businesses. Additionally, the backlink data doesn't refresh very ofter for the lower plans.
Andrew E. · Founder · Marketing and Advertising · May 13, 2025
Pros: It’s a complete SEO, user-friendly tool for marketing research
Cons: It feels a bit pricier of all those credits needed for keyword finding or website audit
Andrew W. · Owner · Marketing and Advertising · April 3, 2025
Pros: The visibility over your websites' SEO and traffic performance is amazing. I also appreciate that you can view some performance data on a free plan. I also really like Ahrefs content on their website and blogs, it's always very informative and I often share it with others keen to learn about SEO.
Cons: Unfortunately as a sole trader it's a little pricey for me, though I would love to keep using the paid version.

I have been using ahrefs on and off for several years and most recently I have started using it more often (Daily) in order to monitor my clients websites in terms of SEO exposure. I also use it to research competitors, find out what content they are ranking for in Google and then producing my own content with a view to outranking the competition and driving traffic to my clients websites.
Pros: It provides invaluable insights into keywords, search volume and other metrics concerning both my own websites as well as those of my competitors.
Cons: The cost of this tool is quite high (But it is most definitely worth it).
David S. · Owner · Information Technology and Services · February 24, 2025
Pros: They make amazing content! They are also constantly adding more useful features. They really understand content marketers, not just SEO.
Cons: It's not always obvious exactly what you need to do to get started.
Kalei W. · Sr Content Marketing Manager · Financial Services · February 11, 2025
Pros: The sheer amount of features make ahrefs a great tool. If you need to pick ONLY ONE SEO software, go with ahrefs.
Cons: Pricing is quite high. There's a joke running around that even thinking about ahrefs costs you a credit.
Deyan G. · Managing Editor · Internet · February 6, 2025
My experience has be good. I like how responseive support is and to be honest Ahref is easily in the Top 3 SEO tools of all time.
Pros: The weekly Youtube trainings and Q and A's that they hold. I've honestly learned how to use the tool via those. Also, has the best backlink tracking tool in the industry.
Cons: If you compare it to other industry leading tools, they seem to vastly under report the amount of traffic a keyword receives.
Safia M. · Project Lead · Marketing and Advertising · January 10, 2025
Provides valuable SEO insights, but be mindful of credit usage
Pros: Simplifies keyword research. Offers insights into search volume, keyword difficulty, and competitor analysis. Helps create content that ranks well
Cons: Requires careful monitoring of credit consumption
Rickilee W. · Founder · Writing and Editing · December 23, 2024
Very happy overall with Ahrefs, it is a core component of my SEO toolkit.
Pros: Ahrefs has a great combination of accurate data and useful, intuitive features which makes it highly valuable for SEO and market research.
Cons: It sometimes struggles with more niche keywords.
Alex H. · Business Development · Machinery · November 7, 2024
As a marketing enthusiast and collaborator, I reckon Ahrefs is tops for managing SEO within my team. Keen to see how this tool evolves as AI takes over the workspace, ay.
Pros: This is my go-to SEO tool, mate! Love the powerful data and insights it provides, it's a beaut.
Cons: Nah, can't fault it, really. Use this app almost every day!
Brittany H. · Marketing Assistant · Real Estate · November 3, 2024
not too bad just not what i was expecting to be able to use.
Pros: i liked the format of the way you can gain access to the information for the sites when you're needing the full stats.
Cons: the pricing is a little bit convoluted especially when it comes to credit usage. they give you the impression that you can find all you may need but then you have too go up a tier. which makes no sense why pay for a monthly subscription and then pay for more credits to get too the information. and the monthly fees are a little bit extreme.

THe Best seo tool i have ever used, their features like website keywords checker, keyword explorer make me find my relavant keywords easily without spending so much time on the internet searching
Pros: Their Keyword explorer feature is best for me, I am able to find the best keywords without spending so much time on Google keyword planner or search engines.
Cons: They Do no provide Wbesite traffic outside search engine
Vikash M. · Chief Marketing manager · Marketing and Advertising · October 11, 2024
Good suite of tools that cover all of the most common SEO-related tasks.
Pros: They are constantly improving the product and they listen to user requests for features. Most of the metrics you're interested can be seen on a single screen and if you want, you can dive into them to get more detail.
Cons: There's a LOT of tools available and sometimes it can become difficult to know which ones are going to be best for you task/ask.
Bryan H. · Director of Technical Operations · Marketing and Advertising · September 6, 2024
Overall, it's a great tool. It helps me a lot with my SEO Strategies. It makes my work easy and saves time.
Pros: It's a great tool for SEO Professionals. It helps you with everything from your own site audit to competitors' research. I personally use it for Site Audits; It gives quality insights on On-page, Off-page, and Technical errors. Rest, it's a great tool for competitors' research, as it checks their backlinks, keyword research, and overall SEO strategies.
Cons: If they can introduce AI in keyword research like SEMrush, then keyword research will become simple.

I used Ahrefs as my daily keyword research tool and it's the main tool i use for backlink analysis
Pros: Very easy to use Helpful backlink analysis insights (even has basic insights on a free account) Splits search volume by country but also gives global figures too Easy to see what your competitors are doing
Cons: You just have to keep an eye out on your credit usage. I think that part could be clearer
Ryan B. · SEO Manager · Financial Services · August 24, 2024
Ahrefs offers incredible amounts of SEO data and analytics tools, which are essential for the planning and execution of our marketing strategy. You can get up-to-date health stats of your website, SEO optimisation suggestions, site audits of competitors, an extensive database of keywords and backlinks - all in one place.
Pros: This is a highly comprehensive and powerful tool, providing access to data that is essential for establishing and improving your domain's SEO authority. It has an intuitive interface and allows you to quickly analyse websites, keywords and backlinks. They also have an informative YouTube channel, which can be useful to beginners.
Cons: If you use Ahrefs very actively, as we do, costs stack up quickly. Some of the functionalities are behind extra paywalls, which is understandable, but every plan allows you only 500 credits per user for viewing any individual keyword, website audit, etc., regardless of your pricing plan. You have to pay separately to buy more credit packages.
