Action1 is an autonomous endpoint management platform that is cloud-native, infinitely scalable, highly secure, and configurable in 5 minutes—it just works and is always free for the first 200 endpoints, with no functional limits. By pioneering autonomous OS and third-party patching - AEM’s foundational use case - through peer-to-peer patch distribution and real-time vulnerability assessment without needing a VPN, it eliminates costly, time-consuming routine labor, preempts ransomware and security risks, and protects the digital employee experience. Trusted by thousands of enterprises managing millions of endpoints globally, Action1 is certified for SOC 2 and ISO 27001. The company is founder-led by industry veterans Alex Vovk and Mike Walters, American entrepreneurs who founded Netwrix, which has grown into a multi-billion-dollar industry-leading cybersecurity company.

Action1 remains as effective as ever. I haven't found another free patching tool (supporting up to 200 endpoints) that can compete with its current features and reliability.
Pros: It is incredibly powerful and versatile, meeting almost all of our requirements. Remarkably, it still offers full functionality for up to 200 endpoints at no cost.
Cons: Using on MacOS still not so directly. The remote tools still not improve so far, remote access still needs other tools help.

Very happy with Action1. I have used a large number of patching/deployment tools and this is one of the best and very easy to use and maintain.
Pros: The built in automation is a lifesaver and easy to use. Remote desktop client built in to resolve issues locally is also a great help if you run into issues. The reporting is great for management even on the evaluation version with the dashboard showing at a glance where you currently sit with your patching.
Cons: The fact that you cant automate OS version upgrades (Tried for Win11 25H2) and if you run it manually it is very buggy. Got one success out of about 10. Not sure if it's OS issue or deploymant.

Way better than LANsweeper and free! Much easier to setup and deploy, 100% cloud based, no complaints! We are already much more secure patched and up to date. Thanks Action1!
Pros: Super easy to setup and deploy. Did it in a few hours. It is free for up to 200 endpoints and extended to 400 for vulnerability for a limited time. I love the automations and actions very easy to get our systems much more patched and up to date
Cons: Nothing so far, if I had to say anything I would just say that you have to go in and clean up the automations and give them unique names or else you end up with a bit of a graveyard for things you only run one time.

Very positive. Our account manager has worked with us and been very helpful making sure we find the bits of the product we need.
Pros: Very easy to setup, both with the agent deployment and with being able to dynamically group endpoints. We've found the remote support tools indispensable and being able to run PowerShell scripts against endpoints remotely has greatly improved our response to issues. No more running around or remoting around to get simple fixes applied, just send out a script automation. Update approval has streamlined the deployment of windows and software updates across the network giving visibility into where those updates are not applying correctly.
Cons: It feels like with the wealth of information it gives that some more critical vulnerabilities might get missed amongst the back log. For example one laptop has come out of a cupboard and tripped 500+ vulnerabilities which then hides the ones that work the other way and effect 500+ computers.

I would recommend it to any business small, medium or large. Action1 does the monitoring for you so you can focus on completing other important tasks.
Pros: It is easy and convenient to use on both laptops and smartphones. It keeps applications up to date It easily picks up any vulnerabilities to remedy.
Cons: In the beginning, the timeout of Action 1 was very limited, but now it has improved dramatically and I am very impressed.

I am very pleased with the solution. It takes a big chunk of my manual labor away from me through automation.
Pros: This is a briliant platform. The fact that they offer 200 devices for free forever is a brilliant solution for small institutions. The interface is easy to get used to and it is very powerful tool.
Cons: I did not find anything yet. Mind you, I am using it only for around of 2 months. I might need to look at some thraining videos to fully utilise the platform, but the problem is not on theis side, but on mine.

Experience is amazing, will recommend it to everyone. Give it a try. We had setup it on 30+ endpoints and it was very easy to do.
Pros: Easy to use, it is reliable. It is definitely a value for money. Script library is also good. We can easily create scripts and run remotely easily on endpoints.
Cons: Sometimes it was able to detect certain software installed. Also, in windows while running critical PowerShell script it should tell the user that this script can take the system to non-working state.

It's been a great help. Support is helpful, albeit slow on free tier. Already recommended it to others.
Pros: Easy to use and setup. Powerful automations. It's been an absolute pleasure to use. Free for under 200 devices
Cons: Slow remote desktop. Lack of Linux support (which will change soon as it's on the roadmap for the next update).

My experience using Action1 is all positive. In fact, I am seriously considering moving to Action1 and replace my current application
Pros: I really love the confidence of Action1 to allow the full functionality to test out (up to 200 endpoints)
Cons: So far, I have not seen anything that I do not like. This is a well thought application. The timing is great since Microsoft announced the end of life for WSUS

Easy to manage, reliable, and integrates smoothly with other systems, improving efficiency and reducing administrative workload.
Pros: Action1 is simple, user-friendly, and very easy to set up, saving time and effort during deployment.
Cons: It does not display users in the “Updates Available” drilldown, which limits visibility when tracking patch status.

Overall we have had a good experience with Action1. The patching and inventory tools are much more intuitive than other platforms that we explored. Excited to see some of the roadmap items come into productions.
Pros: Action1 was key in us achieving a patching strategy for our organisation. We found that Action1 was much more effective at patching (both through product-coverage and time to deploy) against our other solutions.
Cons: We primarily use Action1 to manage remote-workers on BYOD and there are some features that could be more controllable. For example, the platform shows network connections on the machine in real-time. In BYOD scenarios, it could be good to disable this to respect BYOD users' privacy.

Pros out way cons. Intuitive and easy to use. Deployed and started testing in less than an hour. Useful stats, and good vulnerability information.
Pros: Excellent patching from Operating system to Applications. Easy agent deployment Easy access to information about operating system versions. Great for identifying vulnerable installations. Remote access software doesn't require extra installation steps.
Cons: Don't like not being able to configure agent action on window supdate take over. Remote access software does not have session access option (ie , select logged on user in RDS server. Would like to see a task scheduler to perform daily actions such as power down and wake on lan.

I use Action1 every single day and would be lost without it, there are features such as software deployment which I haven't yet used but I know it will be a life saver in the future.
Pros: I like how easy the agent is to deploy and how reliable it is to deploy updates and remote into clients. The 200 free agents give great value for money.
Cons: I feel like the reports could be better laid out but that is a really small con, they are still easily accessible.
Jack H. · Director of IT · Education Management · September 9, 2025
I would (and have) recommend this to anyone. Nothing compares. Third party vulnerability scans have proved this is working 100%
Pros: Does exactly what it promises. Action1 makes patch management and software deployment simple and effortless. You cant beat 'free' for under 200 devices. Super simple to get going and configure.
Cons: Its free. Sounds silly, but there are times you need support which isnt included in the free licence. I would be willing to pay money to have support when needed.

Pros: Easy to set up and use. I deployed out to whole network within minutes and started scanning. It has good reporting and the use of some of the scripts are really helpful
Cons: Didnt seem to pick up all vulnerabilities for an audit we completed. but it had reduced the amount of vulnerabilities significantly from other products i have used.
Simon b. · IT Manager · Legal Services · September 9, 2025
Excellent, thorough, confidence-building ease of use, I love it. It even allows for a quick start with the first 200 endpoints so you can truly test the product and decide on your own.
Pros: Ease; from initial setup to deployment, it is so easy. The process of updates is also incredible. It is a wonderful tool and I literally had my first node updating within 10 minutes of account registration.
Cons: The remote desktop can be a little laggy; however, Action1 never purports to being an RMM. I have also found that this feature is quite helpful with some specific instances. I have true hope that one day Action1 will also be my RMM.

Pros: It is a reliable free tool (up to 200 devices) for patch management, software deployment and script deployment. It has tools to remotely access devices too. Easy to use, clear interface and doesn't cost a penny for sub 200 users. Setup is really easy too.
Cons: Nothing, this is a great product throughout. If I was being fussy I'd say some people might think the interface is a little bland.
Mark B. · IT Manager · Construction · August 20, 2025
Really positive, the sales, the aftercare, the technical support. Everything has been easy, the software just seems to work immediately and have yet to find a flaw with either the service or product that doesn't get rectified. I would recommend this solution to give a much better visibility of your patch and vulnerability management.
Pros: I used to free endpoints to manage my server infrastructure patch management with ease and much preferred the dashboard and configuration compared to other platforms. The setup was easy and the discord channel for support offered fast community help when I was first starting out and experimenting to see what else the platform could offer. I went on to purchase more endpoints to cover our entire fleet after being happy with the product and after comparing costs this product was by far better value for money than the others on the market with all features available.
Cons: It didn't initially have delegated access to administrative sections and this was the biggest flaw in my eyes which has now been fixed.
Antony H. · IT Director · Education Management · August 20, 2025
Fantastic. We are really looking forward to scaling up with them, as they have proven to be a quality product that doesn't try to be too much, and is priced very reasonably.
Pros: It is a very fully featured patch management solution. As long as the managed devices have internet connectivity, it "just works". It handles a significant amount of other non-microsoft products, and it an excellent solution to keep your systems up to date.
Cons: The only "Con" I can think of is something that they VERY CLEARLY say was "just included because" but it isn't their focus. It is the general feature set of the Remote Control. Could use a "show all monitors" feature, but... Meh.

I'm very new to Action1, but I am excited to implement more of it's features! There are other features that I need to implement.
Pros: Action1 organizes activities that I used to handle manually. Soon after configuring Action1, I realized that my ad hoc method was not as effective as I thought.
Cons: I had a little trouble with the intial configuration, but I think that was my fault. I wasn't sure where to start.
Bill E. · Consultant · Law Practice · July 8, 2025
It has been great! I can hardly believe it does what all we need it to from products that we have been paying for.
Pros: Great that it is free for 200 and under PCs. Fantastic product! I like how you can remote and deploy to any PC.
Cons: It doesn't show a listing for uptime in the dashboard for all computers. You can view uptime individually but not all in one place. That would be nice to have. Hopefully will be in a new feature update.
Ryan H. · Technology Coordinator · Education Management · July 7, 2025
I created a free account and received a call from my account representative within a week making sure I knew who to call if there was anything I needed. I was shocked! That level of service is getting harder to find in this field. Business is taking off and hopefully soon will pass the 200 agent mark and will definitely be sticking with Action1 long-term. Don't change! Keep it up
Pros: For the past 9 years, I have administrated KACE SMA in a 700+ workstation / server enterprise. Action1 far exceeds that product, especially in the third party patching field. I chose Action1 to start my own MSP business, and it has been great. Based just down the road from me in Houston, Texas!
Cons: I cannot think of any at the moment. The previous SMA I used was KACE and we self-hosted the VM in house. Action1 is cloud based so approving updates, for example, seems a little slower. This is to be expected, so no big deal. Not a complaint at all, just the nature of the beast.

Action1 allow us to have an overview of the software and windows update installed on workstations and servers in our environment. We really like it.
Pros: Able to automate the removal of unwanted software, and to install Windows update in a much simpler manner than with WSUS.
Cons: Sometime Windows udpates failed to install, it seem to be specific to certain machines, we are in the process of troubleshooting if the problem is with Action1 or the computers.
Thierry G. · IT administrator · Transportation/Trucking/Railroad · July 1, 2025
Amazing value and has allowed me to get rid of my problematic WSUS. It also does some MAC stuff, but less great than how it handles Windows Devices.
Pros: Third party application updates done faily easily. It finds most all of the third party stuff and makes approving it easy. unusual or custom programs can be added but that ends up being pretty hands on, but better than patching dozens by hand.
Cons: Can't cancel updates that have already started, which includes if you accidentally added the reboot after patching function to a server or group of PCs that should stay on during the day.
