Sage 100 is a modular ERP tool that helps small businesses manage accounting, inventory, and operations. It’s most used by administrative and finance teams in construction and retail. Reviewers value its general ledger and billing features, though many cite its dated interface and pricing complexity. Advanced tools like forecasting and master orders support long-term planning and inventory control.

As a Sage 100 Contractor user for 8.5 years I really enjoy this program. I have experience with many other programs and this one is not too hard and not too easy. Set up of Vendor/Clients is easy. The transaction windows are easy to use.Training someone knew is not to hard.
Pros: The ability to control your transaction number. This is huge because I can know instantly what type of transaction I am looking at based on the number sequence. Secondly, is the dynamic ability to make changes and corrections. Very easy. Customer Support is readily available and the new IA interface isn't too bad. Secondary level support usually answers quickly. LOVE the fact we can add our pdf's/Excel directly into the program and very easily transfer to Excel or Word for further working. The budget process through to progress billings is a good and efficient process for our Project Managers and Accounting Teams.
Cons: Limiting the users from accessing modules can be time consuming. Setting up templates per module also has to be done per user. The upgrade of the program is times consuming when we have to do them. It is based on the size of your files but I can take 2 hours just for the first step in the process because our file is large. The time and material billing section needs work and we don't utilize it because it isn't efficient.

Overall experience is good. Trying to get others on board to using the program property. Setting up job costing would be a huge benefit.
Pros: The power the program has. Great for job costing, inventory management when used properly. I wish we used more of the program.

Cons: Accounting side can be difficult to use. However, I like that people cannot go into the system and change important things like invoices an GL entries just by clicking on them

While our small company bought Sage 100 (and it was more complicated than what we actually needed at the time plus we struggled through training), it has proved to be a very dependable product even with the age of it.
Pros: The option I liked most is the depth of information that can be entered into Sage for customers and vendors that make it easy access for reporting. Customer and vendor memos and contacts and important details easily accessible and quick referencing.
Cons: The least favorable thing about Sage 100 is encountered with different user's abilities and lack of knowledge resulting in errors hampering complete accurate reporting.

Our small 9-person company must subcontract a part-time Sage expert to get Sage 100 to function with 25 years of company information. The convoluted nesting of functions may as well use a MS DOS command line.
Pros: It inherited the Master Trend database and has the familiar feel of MS DOS in Windows 3.2. It comes with a 400-page manual that is comprehensive but really user friendly or functional for beginners.
Cons: Archaic application with poor inter-unit integration, barely cobbled together and still needs a 13 person team for each unit to effectively run. This may as well be MS DOS
Irene K. · Office Manager · Construction · May 20, 2026
Overall I would say it is satisfactory. It is easy to use once you know how and does what it needs to. Sage is probably the go to in that sense and once you know how to use Sage you can use any of them.
Pros: Once you learn it, it is relatively easy to use. It's used by most accountants and integrates with most software.
Cons: The UI looks quite dated and they should have a true cloud based version so you can use it anywhere.
Shane C. · Manager · Staffing and Recruiting · May 19, 2026
My experience using Sage 100 has always been excellent, I have never had any major issues with the product.
Pros: Easy to use, user friendly, trusted product, have used for many years and it does exactly what I need it to do.
Cons: There is nothing I dislike about Sage 100, I think it is a great product and would recommend wholeheartedly.
Jill W. · Practice Manager · Construction · May 19, 2026
I've used Sage for decades and won't use any other providers as the support and the overall software just isn't as good. HMRC love it which makes my life much easier.
Pros: Online backup is a life saver, having lost access once before to a PC we were back up and running within hours which meant there was no damage to our cash flow through invoicing. Everything is designed to be compliant in the UK which makes running a business easier.
Cons: Costs have increased substantially over the last few years which tend to be focused on features that we don't use and won't, which makes them technically an option. In perspective it is more expensive than some alternatives with the same offering.

Used it for 24 yrs, that speaks for itself! We love this software for our accounting and payroll. We trust it.
Pros: Solid Accounting Software and we can project our project’s performance. That is critical to meeting our needs.
Cons: Wish you scheduling module was more user friendly, we currently use Buildertrend and like the client interface and flexibility. Wish Sage had similar capabilities.
Susan D. · Owner · Construction · May 15, 2026
Overall, Sage 100 has been easy to use. I had to learn it without any formal training and have found it quite user friendly and easy to navigate.
Pros: I like the addition of some advanced reporting options that help with tracking job costs & productivity much more efficiently.
Cons: However, there were some reports in Sage 50 that are not available in Sage 100 and we miss those, as they were also beneficial and helpful in our business practices.
Amy M. · Office Administrator · Electrical/Electronic Manufacturing · May 15, 2026
fine, its familiar and easy to use. There are some updates I wish came out sooner, for example year end updates
Pros: easy to work with. I use the same functions basically every day, so I am very familiar with my normal working tabs
Cons: Sage support, chat first call second is not a great way to go about it. I wish there was a customer support number
Brian K. · Bookkeeper · Construction · May 15, 2026
Yes looks after our finances well. We prehaps need more training to enable the 4 people in the office to understand it better
Pros: Great works well - getting to grips with it. Our accounts lady uses it well every day when shes is in
Cons: Guidance on line a little slow and not too clear for me. I have to keep searching for the answer i need
Ian J. · MD · Printing · May 15, 2026
Positive from reporting point of view. We have been able to provide dashboard reporting features to the Senior Leadership Team
Pros: Enhanced reporting features which have allowed us to connect with both Microsoft Excel and SAP Crystal Reports to provide the Senior Leadership Team with dashboard real time reporting analysis
Cons: Oldish user interface which can from time to time slow down the input of both sales orders and purchase order processing

julia k. · commis comptable · Accounting · May 1, 2026
Sage 100 has been an excellent choice as the business has been using it for over 15 years. Regular product releases keep the software up to date and contributed to its capabilities.
Pros: I love the extensive capabilities of the system for not only the financial functions, but also for the robust operational capabilities that are present. I especially like the production management and inventory planning capabilities
Cons: I would like to see the coming AI enhancements to come quicker to allow for more insights to be gained from the extensive data that is in the system.
Doug H. · CDO · Automotive · April 30, 2026
It is positive. The Best thing is that they have realized how loyal customers are to Sage100 and have decided to continue supporting and building on the current product to make it better.
Pros: It has capabilities in manufacturing finally with Production Management and also is constantly adding new products and recognizes that if someone else already does something better that they can add it to the Sage lineup and not have to re-create the wheel.
Cons: The architect is antiquated or clunky to use. It needs more bells and whistles and an overhaul of the UI.
Scott T. · Accounting Director · Oil & Energy · April 30, 2026
I love Sage 100 and have been working with it for 28 years. It is a great software & I would love to see it go cloud based.
Pros: Sage 100 software is intuitive, easy to use & customizable with extended solutions. I also appreciate that clients can purchase only the modules they need.
Cons: Sometimes difficult to get assistance from 3rd party vendors. It is uncomfortable when I am not able to assist my clients in a timely fashion.
Susan Z. · Sr Sage Consultant · Computer Software · April 30, 2026
Pros: Sage 100 offers an incredibly intuitive user experience, making it remarkably easy to navigate through various modules and daily tasks without a steep learning curve. I’ve found that running reports is a seamless process, allowing me to generate the exact data I need quickly and efficiently. On top of the software's performance, their customer service is consistently great, providing prompt and helpful support whenever questions arise. Invoicing is easy and check runs are smooth. It is easy to post payments, and it is in the cloud now which is great.
Cons: The only thing I do not like about Sage 100 is that their job cost module does not have a lot of characters for comments.

Great, but looking forward to learning Sage Intacct. I have used Sage 50, Sage 100 and we just signed on for Sage Intacct.
Pros: Financials reporting worked well. I liked that everything was permanent once posting versus Sage 50 where you can change transactions.
Cons: Bank Reconciliation platform was not as user friendly as newer platforms. A few specialty things to know to clear “stuck” transactions from cache.
Melody J. · Staff Accountant · Construction · April 28, 2026
Pros: Great receipt management for teams with outside employees who lose receipts because they do not come to the office daily.
Cons: The setup for clients is quite intense, and we had to go through many meetings to set up this program.
Megan T. · Office Assistant · Construction · April 15, 2026
The overall experience with the Sage 100 is powerful. Allow management to customize the reports as per the need.
Pros: Sage 100 is a complete professional accounting software system. The system is available with a monthly low-cost maintenance.
Cons: There are issues with the software updates along with the additional cost associated with it. There are issues needed to be sorted out with the customer representatives which is not good

My overall experience with Sage 100 has been generally positive, especially when it comes to its core accounting strength and flexibility. It’s a reliable system for organizations that need more than basic bookkeeping
Pros: It balances robust accounting functionality with flexibility and customization. Sage 100’s general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable modules are solid and reliable. Customizable and Scalable
Cons: Although functional, the interface feels dated and not as intuitive as newer platforms. Sage 100 is still heavily desktop‑based Some reports are powerful but can be difficult to modify without advanced knowledge or external tools

In the end we kept using Sage for a long time for our accountancy side o0f the business. our accountant was fully trained on this and was able to train others so it made sense. We went and got alternative softwarew for the placing and receiving orders side of the business. If you did just want to get one piece of software though, it can do it all.
Pros: We used Sage 100 in two ways. We used it for the accountancy side and we also used it as our ordering software. As an accountancy package it was great. It took me a little bit longer to learn than some other programmes but in it's defence it was the first software of this type I had ever used. It served more than one functiona s a business when we started.
Cons: When it came to using it as our ordering software (both orders coming in and PO's for purchases) it seemed quite a long process compared to software we have used since which is specifically tailored to this function.
Sam K. · Project manager · Food Production · January 27, 2026
My overall experience with Sage 100 is towards the positive side. I like how it's simple to work with. I like how reporting is simple, but sometimes can get tedious. It is an easy to maintain software and Sage support is always a call away too.
Pros: I like how I get everything in one place under the Sage 100 umbrella. It has a strong inventory tracking and order processing. Other than these obvious features, I love it's reliability.
Cons: Sage 100 is a bit old fashioned in terms of looks and feeling when working on it. UI of Sage 100 could be much better than what it is now.

I started using Simply Accounting over 20 years ago in my accounting courses. It has now evolved into Sage 50 and into Sage 100. This program still out does the accounting principles of other programs. Thank you Sage!
Pros: Sage 100 uses GAAP, generally accepted accounting principles, in every small business this is a must use tool. Sage has provided the program to the school system as educational partners. I know several past students who now use Sage in their daily lives because they learned the program in high school
Cons: Sometimes the program is difficult to install in a school setting in our lab environment. With that being said I fully understanding the licensing is a difficult thing to keep track digitally.
