Not very easy to use, but the scaling and accuracy is impressive. Not very easy to receive support from Sage Intacct. Long waiting times to get answers for questions or help with, for example, importing data, even thorugh very high rates are charged for this support.
Pros: I appreciate Sage Intacct's ability to process large volumes of data, which is crucial as our company grows and our revenue increases. The consistent accuracy in billing our members from around the world is reassuring.
Cons: I find Sage Intacct not very user-friendly. It feels like only a Sage expert can use it effectively. For example, using printed document templates for invoices is challenging. You have to find the correct merge field to use in Word documents, and there's no way to see how the invoice will look until you send out a test invoice. The initial setup was also terribly difficult, and we are still struggling with it.

Intacct is a capable platform and a real step up from entry-level accounting tools, especially for reporting and multi-entity work. That said, the experience comes with a constant asterisk: almost every feature worth having is a separate add-on, and the price tag keeps growing as Sage rolls out new capabilities. You sign for one number and end up evaluating add-on quotes every renewal. Once you accept that pricing reality and get past the implementation learning curve, the core system does its job well — but go in with eyes open about the true long-term cost.

Cons: The biggest frustration is that nearly every meaningful feature is a paid add-on. Basic project tracking is included, but the published capabilities you actually want? Add-on. AI features? Add-on. General journal auto-reconciliation? Add-on. Closing automation? Add-on. Every improvement or new capability they roll out and market seems to come with a separate SKU and another line on the invoice, so the "all-in" cost keeps creeping up well past what you signed for. On top of that, the learning curve is steeper than the sales process suggests, the UI feels dated in places, and support response times can vary depending on who picks up your ticket.

Pros: Sage is very easy to use. Offers classes to sharpen your knowledge, and makes sure to support you along the way.
Cons: It can’t cover some areas, but makes sure to offer marketplace solutions in such cases. Sage has a base of multiple vendors in their marketplace.
Alicja E. · Accountant · Financial Services · May 12, 2026
There are so many tools with in sage that are useful. I look forward to continue to find ways to use it.
Pros: There are excellent learning opportunities. Sage university gives a lot of detailed classes to learn how to use Sage.
Cons: All the additional add ons seem to come at premiun costs. I wish the close co pilot was included in normal subscription.
Meghan D. · Accountant · Package/Freight Delivery · May 12, 2026
Overall experience has been good. It’s a reliable system. However the system can be a little complex to navigate at first
Pros: What I liked most about Sage is that Invoice Documents are available when needed. Maintains organizes records and ensure proper approvals
Cons: Not being able to make changes once it’s submitted for approval. Invoice has to be declined to make modifications.
Ana G. · Accounts Payable · Health, Wellness and Fitness · May 6, 2026
Pros: I like the drill down aspect of Sage. I also love the reclassify button as it helps speed up reclasses.
Cons: Currently everything is very new to me so if there are any cons I have yet to experience them. So none so far
Matthew R. · Accounting Specialists · Non-Profit Organization Management · May 6, 2026
Overall, I enjoy using sage intacct. Creating manual bills is super easy and being able to mark as paid is a breeze
Pros: Invoice management and ease to locate invoices. Love the option to create multiple different views under each module and being able to access platform readily
Cons: Biggest concern is the customer service feature. We use a third party provider (baker Tilly). They are helpful, but would be better to have a live agent sometimes

Overall, Sage Intacct has been an efficient and reliable system for managing our financial operations. It has helped us stay organized, improved transparency with leadership and the board, and made audit preparation more manageable. It’s a strong platform for organizations that value control, visibility, and integration—especially if you’re willing to invest a bit of time in optimizing reporting.
Pros: Sage Intacct has significantly improved financial visibility across our organization. Our entire executive team can easily access real-time financial statements and dashboards, which keeps everyone aligned on performance throughout the fiscal year. The accounts payable workflow is especially strong—routing invoices for department-level approval is straightforward and has streamlined our internal controls. We’ve also reduced paper usage dramatically, which has been a meaningful operational win. Perhaps most valuable is the integration with our CRM, allowing for real-time record keeping and better coordination between finance and revenue functions.
Cons: The interface is starting to feel a bit dated compared to newer platforms, even though it remains clean and functional. Some reporting and filtering capabilities still require extra effort to fine-tune, and we occasionally rely on our consultant to get reports exactly where we need them. That said, this has also created opportunities for cross-team collaboration and deeper understanding of our data.
Bob T. · COO · Non-Profit Organization Management · May 4, 2026
I would never implement Sage at another company. There are many cheaper options available that are functionally superior, especially as it pertains to reporting.
Pros: The only module in Sage that I find useful is the contracts module for deferred revenue recognition. I'm not sure how the competition compares, so that may not be saying much.
Cons: Sage reporting is terrible. If you add an account it does not automatically add to your reports. Quickbooks is preferable, which is laughable given the price of this software. Its also extremely difficult to learn how to create and manipulate reports. Who wants to spend weeks in classes? Its not user friendly. Also, the invoices don't include billing periods which should be standard for any accounting software. We have to pay for an add on from Armanino which is not ideal.
Christina N. · Controller · Computer Software · May 4, 2026
My overall experience with Sage Intacct has been very positive. It has significantly improved efficiency in financial management and reporting. The system provides strong visibility into financial data and supports multi-entity and multi-dimensional reporting, which is extremely valuable. While there is a learning curve at the beginning, once established, it becomes an essential tool for day-to-day accounting operations. I would highly recommend it to organizations looking for a robust and scalable accounting solution.
Pros: Sage Intacct is a powerful and reliable accounting platform. Its reporting capabilities are excellent, allowing for detailed, customizable financial reports that support better decision-making. The system is user-friendly once implemented, and the cloud-based access makes it easy to work from anywhere. I also appreciate the strong audit trails and controls, which are critical for maintaining accuracy and compliance. Overall, it streamlines processes like invoicing, general ledger management, and financial analysis very effectively
Cons: The initial setup and implementation can be time-consuming and may require outside support, especially for more complex organizations. Some modules and features can feel less intuitive at first, and occasional system glitches or delays can occur. Additionally, certain customizations and integrations may require technical expertise or additional cost.

Sage Intacct feels like transitioning from basic accounting to a comprehensive finance platform. It is designed for companies that require structure, internal controls, and visibility—not just for bookkeeping.
Pros: Tasks such as revenue recognition, recurring billing, and consolidations can be largely automated, significantly reducing manual work and errors. This is particularly important for companies experiencing growth or dealing with complexity, such as multiple subsidiaries, currencies, or entities.
Cons: The system can overcomplicate routine workflows, especially if you’re not deeply trained. There is a noticeable learning curve. The platform’s core strengths, such as dimensional accounting and advanced reporting, are not very intuitive at first. Teams often require training, and sometimes a dedicated administrator, before they feel comfortable, which can delay time-to-value.

Excellent! Support and fit for our organization is outstanding! We are very pleased with the product and will continually enhance our use as we move forward.
Pros: Ease of use and implementation. Highly recommend using a 3rd party implementor which we did. Well worth the investment.
Cons: While we like the many options of compatibility with other platforms, it is very difficult to know best choice for customized solution, priorities of what to do first and cost/benefit. More resources and guidance would be useful!

Generally poor. The implementation of our the contract billing system a few years ago was sub-par. The implementation team was unprepared for the project and it took substantially longer than it should have. Our contract renewal last year was mis managed by our account manager who regularly ignored our requests for a renewal quote and waited until we were close the renewal date before providing a quote. The price increase upon renewal represented an unreasonable increase in cost - way higher than the rate of inflation. The Sage team could not provide an adequate reason for the increase and generally seemed disinterested in helping us - I presume because we were not a net new account. We feel like we are not a valued customer even though we have been using the system for almost 6 years now and have increased our volumes substantially. Longer term we will be looking for opportunities to transition away from Sage due to the unreasonable price increases and poor treatment.
Pros: Online access. Ease of use. Invoicing.
Cons: The $ that is charged for integrations with 3rd party software platforms. We feel as though we are being taking advantage of when we are adding 3rd party systems like Avalara and potentially Snowflake to the integration - Sage benefits when we add these features as it helps improve retention rates - yet the API fees penalize our business as we grow.

It didn't take long to get familiar and comfortable with Intacct. Most of the information is straightforward, you just need to get in and use the system. It is worth getting some training, especially for areas where you want to focus on. Also, if you are a former MIP user like me, I think it will be easier to get used to Intacct.
Pros: It's pretty easy to use. I was using NetSuite before, which is a good system, but Sage is a lot easier to use and provides the same things, such as revenue recognition and allocations. I also love that there are many interfaces with so many other systems, such as Salesforce, bill.com, etc.
Cons: Creating reports can take a little time to get used to, but once you figure out how to maneuver it becomes pretty straightforward.
DAVID A. · CFO · Non-Profit Organization Management · May 1, 2026
Great overall experience. We are not yet fully utilizing everything that we can yet with the product.
Pros: Streamlining processes. Cleaner reporting. Better and faster data for users and decision makers. Automation options for most modules
Cons: We have had some trouble implementing 3rd party solutions (BuildOps and Bill). There are options available now to use functions within intacct
Matt W. · VP of Finance · Construction · April 30, 2026
Overall, my experience with Sage Intacct has been positive. It’s a powerful, scalable financial system with strong reporting and dimensional accounting that supports detailed financial analysis and better decision‑making. The automation and controls improve efficiency and accuracy, particularly for month‑end and reporting processes. While there is a learning curve and some reliance on specialist support for advanced configurations, once implemented properly it is a robust solution that works well for growing and complex organisations.
Pros: It allows us to track financial data across departments, projects, and cost centres without creating an overly complex chart of accounts. The dashboards and custom reports provide clear, real-time insights, and the automation of processes like journals and approvals saves significant time compared to manual systems.
Cons: While the system is very powerful, some areas of the interface are not intuitive, and tasks that should be simple can require multiple steps.
Nicole H. · Finance Team Leader · Non-Profit Organization Management · April 30, 2026
Overall, I still prefer QuickBooks, but I do see value that Sage offers that QuickBooks doesn't. If Sage offered the features mentioned above, I would likely prefer it over QB.
Pros: I like the customizability of the software. We're a nonprofit with multiple entities, so it's important that we be able to make the software do what we need it to do.
Cons: There are features I feel are common sense that aren't available, such as the ability to attach documentation to anything, the ability to "next" through credit card transactions, and the ability to reclass credit card transactions post-reconciliation.
River W. · Staff Accountant · Non-Profit Organization Management · April 30, 2026
We are still in the implementation phase, it is hard to understand when you haven’t run thru a complete process
Pros: Swing able to code one invoice to multiple companies. You only have to login once. To see all companies
Cons: Having to process fixed assets for 9 communities at one time. I would prefer to be able to have multiple books for fixed assets one for each company
Juanita L. · Accounting manager · Hospital & Health Care · April 30, 2026
Pros: I enjoy the Multi entity consolidations feature. It allows our team to save time and provide a more complete and accurate financial package.
Cons: The custom report writing fiction is Cumbersome which makes it difficult to populate the reports that our leadership needs in real time
Katie N. · Financial Analysist · Health, Wellness and Fitness · April 30, 2026
Sage has been pivotal for our accounting team and is able to link with many other software such as Bill and DIVVY spend and expense
Pros: Dashboards, consolidations, and checklist are amazing to use and the dashboards are helpful for our clients.
Cons: The consolidations not allowing you to click into an account easily so you can get the GL details for them.
Kristine B. · Accounting manager · Medical Practice · April 30, 2026
Pros: Flexibility, all in one, real time. User friendly. I can have a strong data visibility, cloud based.
Cons: UI design some times is confusing. Support is sometimes not very efficient. Approval workflow design is not very flexible and or customizable.
Zoey C. · Consultant · Professional Training & Coaching · April 30, 2026
I’ve had a positive experience with Intacct, we took our time with implementation and created a system that works for our company. There’s still so much to learn with all the available features, excited to use Intacct to its full potential.
Pros: Intacct has given us a quicker close, better reporting, and less software to use! It’s a was to learn software.
Cons: The AP approval process is not as custom as we thought. Outside vendors have a better workflow than the standard Intacct software.
Jennifer P. · Manager of Finance and Administration · Non-Profit Organization Management · April 30, 2026
Were very new to sage and design and implementation has been easy. Project manager has been helpful during this process
Pros: Customer service is amazing friendly design team and friendly project manager. Questions are always being addressed
Cons: Theres nothing i currently dont like. We are still new to program and the design phase and implementation has been easy. So far no struggles
Juana S. · Finance manager · Accounting · April 30, 2026
I’ve been utilising Sage Intacct for about 6 years. I really find it easy to work with. A lot of our departments use it but need more training.
Pros: How you can looking expense funding amounts. It’s easy to work with and the sage university is very helpful when you need to know right now.
Cons: All of our tribal departments use it but most don’t know the full capabilities. Is there a training where Sage Intacct travels to us?
Tana L. · Financial Operstions Generalist · Financial Services · April 30, 2026
Overall, we're happy with Sage Intacct. It has really improved our accounting experience after switching from Quickbooks as we moved to a multi entity/currency organization. We use a number of additional modules beyond the core subscription and they've really enhanced our processes.
Pros: We like the user interface of Intacct and the core modules are great and easy to navigate. Because we have to integrate our Procurement, Expense and CRM systems, we like the ability to be able to integrate so many systems that we use seamlessly with the Intacct API. The various modules we use have provided a lot of efficiencies to our internal processes. The order entry module makes customer invoicing very easy to manage and post revenue.
Cons: Some of the reporting, while robust, is not conducive for public companies/auditors. Sometimes troubleshooting issues is hard or diving into objects that show up on audit logs is hard to back into. Also having the audit reports limited to people with admin privileges is problematic for managers managing their audit responsibilities and creates SOD conflicts. Having to use external systems for some of the core functionality causes additional expense but is necessary as our company has matured. Engineering problems take months to resolve with customer support.
