Overall, my experience with SpotOn was positive and well‑rounded, particularly for restaurant‑focused operations. The platform stands out for its all‑in‑one approach, combining POS, online ordering, marketing, and reporting into a single system that supports day‑to‑day efficiency. I found the interface intuitive for staff, and the restaurant‑specific tools helped streamline operations while providing useful insights into sales and customer behavior. That said, some aspects of the platform felt less flexible when it came to customization and advanced reporting. Certain configurations required additional steps or support, which could slow down implementation for more complex needs. Despite this, SpotOn remains a strong, restaurant‑centric solution that delivers solid functionality and value, especially for businesses looking for an integrated system designed with operators in mind.
Pros: What I liked most about SpotOn was its all‑in‑one approach tailored specifically for restaurants. The platform combines POS, online ordering, reservations, marketing, and reporting in a way that feels cohesive and practical for day‑to‑day operations. I especially appreciated how intuitive the system is for staff and how it provides useful insights to help operators better understand sales performance and customer behavior. The restaurant‑first focus made it feel purpose‑built rather than generic.
Cons: What I liked least about SpotOn was that some areas of the platform felt less flexible and more rigid to customize, particularly when tailoring workflows or reports to specific business needs. While the system is generally intuitive, certain features required additional steps or support to configure properly. There were also occasional limitations in reporting depth, which made deeper analysis more challenging for more complex operational needs.

SpotOn is a fine POS for in-store transactions. The product works. But the developer experience is nonexistent. We are building online ordering for a coffee shop that opens this week. The POS is installed, the website is live, the API spec is written. SpotOn is the only bottleneck. There is no escalation path, no public developer email that works (partner-support@ bounces), and no visibility into where your request sits in their pipeline.
Pros: In-store POS works well. Card processing is reliable. The hardware is solid. Reporting dashboard is decent for a restaurant operation.
Cons: API access process is broken. 26 days from first request to receiving a Google Form — not credentials, a form. No self-serve developer portal. No sandbox. No timeline given at any step. Stripe gives you keys in 30 seconds. Square gives you a sandbox in 2 minutes. SpotOn makes you email three people, wait through OOO auto-replies, and fill out an intake form just to start the approval process. If your business depends on a custom integration, budget a month of waiting.

Overall, my experience has been great with spoton since i have been assigned to an engineering team that has been doing an exceptional job at fixing minor issues.
Pros: Being assigned to an engineer who fully understood our menu structure and was fast in responding and fixing our issues.
Cons: They did not assign us to an engineering team sooner to assist with structural issues in our brand's menu.

Pros: I originally purchased this system to replace my existing system. I wanted the cloud based system that wouldn’t fail during power outages and the handhelds were also a bonus.
Cons: It’s really hard to come up with a least favorite when there are so many issues that have gone wrong. I guess I would have to say Spot On’s inability to fix the problems is the biggest problem we have currently
Kris G. · Owner · Food & Beverages · March 25, 2026
Too much problems with the company. Over sale the products. Different departments. Thanks to the help of [sensitive content hidden] , I found a resolution for the issues I have. Only good thing for now
Pros: The Online Orders and the opportunity to make delivery without pay a lot to Doordash. Good marketing tools
Cons: Bad communication and over sale product. The installation is complicated and take too long to get the menu. Need better explanation about the percent and cost of services. Too many departments to resolve issues.

Overall I would say average except for Customer Service. It is great. Terminals don't hold cellular as well as handhelds.
Pros: Customer Service from [sensitive content hidden] and Sales Representative [sensitive content hidden]. Cellular backup works well on handhelds.
Cons: Reports, Contest setup poor, Enterprise Reporting, flexibility of moving certain items on ticket command screens, handheld connectivity issues
Cary G. · Managing Partner · Restaurants · December 31, 2025
Horrible . for accountting. Need to go to 10 different widow for report. Sales tax is not properly counted. Found myself liable with big sales tax amount. They didn't have an answer for that. they they said next month it will be adjusted which it didn't .Also if a ticket still open at closing .it automatically close the ticket but as Item sold. So you pay tax on it even if you didn't received the money . They told me that I have to adjust it in my general ledger. but the 1099E will be showing a big difference since it's not corrected on their end.
Pros: Not much . beside I regret to change. They told me that it's exactly the same than toast but the Credit card fee a lot cheaper
Cons: Credit card Refund processed is not friendly . And Can not make a cash refund next day . Need to make a paid out to refund the customer. So it's not really accouting friendly since paid out is not made for that.So you pay tax on the sale, and Sales tax is not properly deducted.

Pros: great service and fast response to issues and also easy to use devices. I been using this system now for 4 years and it is good to me
Cons: need offer more 3rd party vendors to connect to give customers options such as affirm and Klara and other financial institutes
FREDDIE E. · manager · Automotive · November 20, 2025
This is the absolute worst POS system I have used in my 20+ years in the industry. I have been working with this system for almost five years now and it is absolutely terrible. You create a tab for a customer and it just completely disappears sometimes! I've had $300 bar tabs completely disappear and then have to try and remember everything the guest ordered to re-ring it. We have lost so much money using this system. Our equipment finally got replaced after our old terminals were crashing daily. We built a new restaurant and made the mistake of sticking with Spoton. Their Website team takes months to make the simplest changes. I bought my system from a third party so I can't even go through Spoton's customer service. The whole deal is sketchy and a huge inconvenience. The handhelds can't even reach my patio tables even though we are well within the required sq footage.
Pros: Nothing. It is terrible. There is not one good thing about this system. Customer service is clueless and rude.
Cons: The constant computer crashes, lost tickets, not for high volume restaurants. System doesn't allow even the most basic functions of a POS. Ten steps to do anything. It took me months to get my menu properly imported into their system and I am still having to call them daily because something changed in the settings and now everything's ringing in wrong. Servers hate it. Bar hates it.

Pros: SpotOn helps our restaurants run more efficiantly. [sensitive content hidden] is one of the most helpful person working at SpotOn.
Cons: Sometimes it's hard to get customer service on the weekend. If our system goes down it is hard to get someone that knows how to fix the problem.
Chris V. · District Manager · Food & Beverages · September 19, 2025
My experience with SpotOn has been outstanding. The platform is robust, user-friendly, and designed to handle the unique demands of complex businesses. With the expert support of [sensitive content hidden], I feel fully confident using their tools to streamline operations and grow my business.
Pros: SpotOn is an exceptional payment processing and digital marketing partner that truly gets the needs of today’s businesses. Their platform makes managing even the most complex menu modifiers effortless—ideal for restaurants with detailed setups. Customizable reports deliver powerful insights for smarter decision-making, while their user-friendly email marketing and loyalty programs drive real results. Online ordering with built-in discounts adds even more value. What truly sets SpotOn apart is its outstanding customer service—especially [sensitive content hidden], whose expertise and dedication are unmatched. A top choice for any business seeking a complete, all-in-one solution.
Cons: Spoton could improve its communication with the development team, as feature requests and technical issues occasionally take longer than expected to resolve. The offline mode for transactions also isn’t as smooth as it could be, which may pose challenges during internet outages. While these areas leave room for improvement, they don’t diminish the platform’s overall strengths—just points to consider for businesses with high-volume, always-on operations
Tadeo C. · GM · Restaurants · September 17, 2025
My overall experience with Spoton has been exceptional. The platform is powerful, intuitive, and tailored to meet the unique needs of complex businesses. With expert support from [sensitive content hidden], I always feel confident navigating their tools and growing my business.
Pros: Spoton is a top-tier payment processing and digital marketing company that truly understands the needs of modern businesses. Their platform handles complex menu modifiers seamlessly, making it perfect for restaurants with intricate setups. The customizable reports provide deep insights to drive smarter decisions. Their email marketing and loyalty programs are easy to use and highly effective. Online ordering with built-in discounts adds tremendous value. What really sets Spoton apart is their outstanding customer service—especially from [sensitive content hidden], whose expertise and support are second to none. Highly recommended for businesses seeking a powerful, all-in-one solution.
Cons: One area where Spoton could improve is communication with their development team—feature requests or technical issues sometimes take longer than expected to be addressed. Additionally, the offline mode for taking transactions isn't as seamless as it could be, which can be a challenge during internet outages. These issues don’t outweigh the platform’s strengths, but they’re worth noting for businesses with high-volume, always-on operations.

[sensitive content hidden] is one of the best supporters (Customer & phone). He is fast and has a lot of knowledge.
Pros: Customer support. Phone support. Every time we called [sensitive content hidden] to help, if he is not there then he will call us back right away when he's available.
Cons: Scan payment. Scanner is sometime work and sometime not work at all. It took a little while to scan it.
Parish L. · General Manager · Food & Beverages · August 21, 2025
They are unethical, sadly they misrepresent their product. The sales team was bad, the white glove install was done by a third party that doesn't know the software or hardware. Miserable experience.
Pros: To be honest, nothing. Everything we were told the system will do, it didn't (doesn't). We get no answers when we are promised callbacks, on hold for literally hours. I guess those would be the good points, and they aren't good.
Cons: Sales Rep was new and not trained fully on the product he represented, made promises of what the system will do, it doesn't in nearly all cases, The system crashes, it always shows us as being closed when we aren't, customer service knows very little about the product and can't solve problems, tell you 48 hours, how can you wait 48 hours to solve a problem with your point of sale? It has taken 2 months to address our issues and they still aren't resolved. This has been a nightmare, a complete and udder nightmare.
James K. · Chef Owner · Restaurants · August 10, 2025
Pros: SpotOn has been a game-changer for our business, offering an all-in-one platform that handles payment processing, marketing, and business tools seamlessly. Next-day funding has boosted our cash flow, and the email marketing features help us stay connected with customers effortlessly. Their hardware setup is reliable and easy to use, and everything integrates smoothly — from POS to marketing. Most importantly, Ivan Monroy’s support has been outstanding. He’s knowledgeable, responsive, and genuinely focused on helping our business succeed. If you want a reliable, all-in-one solution with great customer service, SpotOn and Ivan are the way to go.
Cons: The terminals lack of offline mode, this could help with offline transactions when internet is off. However, there might be some situations with the security regulations about this aspect.
Ann G. · General manager · Retail · July 31, 2025
After trying to deal with SpotOn from behind the scenes for the past six months I can tell they are a disorganized, siloed organization that really does not care about customer retention. Do not expect timely responses to issues – after not receiving a response from their IT department regarding website interface issues I had to hire a website developer to figure out a band aide solution. SpotOn puts in an enormous effort to sign-up your business initially, but does not put in effort to retain your business.
Pros: The point-of sale system is easy to use, program and train employees. The reservation system is one of the best I have used.
Cons: The handheld devices are cumbersome and have connectivity issues. As a result employees do not use them and we have to continue paying for them because of our contract. The back-up router has never worked during power outages. After much back and forth, we finally received a replacement router but received no credit for the months we paid for the non-working service.
Jennifer P. · Owner · Restaurants · July 6, 2025
SpotOn has truly taken our business to another level. From the moment we signed on, the platform has streamlined our operations, improved customer engagement, and enhanced our overall efficiency. But what really sets SpotOn apart is the exceptional support we receive—especially from our account manager,[sensitive content hidden] . [sensitive content hidden] has been instrumental in helping us grow. Her responsiveness, insight, and dedication have allowed us to eliminate unnecessary processes and focus on what matters most—delivering value to our customers. She goes above and beyond to ensure we’re getting the most out of the system, and her proactive approach makes a huge difference. We highly recommend SpotOn to any business looking to grow with the right tools and the right team behind them.
Pros: Account management, support, uptime, unique equipment, and just how well it works. SpotOn has taken us to the next level.
Cons: Handhelds seem to have some issues with the emv’s failing. All of the equioment works great when it works.
Johnathon P. · Director of IT · Hospitality · July 4, 2025
Very happy with the product as we are opening a new location and using Spoton there as well. Very easy to use and learn with the BOH and seems to be easy for our staff to use on the POS stations.
Pros: Guest Service from the support team, most of all [sensitive content hidden] It very user friendly product and helps us keep track of just about all aspects of our business.
Cons: Would like a little more flexabilty on the "Tip" suggestion/option on handhelds. maybe just a button that says "Click to enter Tip" and not force the "suggested" tip amounts
Judson D. · Owner Operator · Restaurants · June 20, 2025
Overall, I am pleased with SpotOn so far. There have been a couple of minor tweaks and fixes needed but they were remedied quickly.
Pros: I like the streamlined look of the POS once it was installed. I also had a great onboarding specialist.
Cons: I am not happy with how there is little to no support with the integrations with SpotOn, specifically with ShoGo.
Tracy S. · President · Food & Beverages · June 14, 2025
It's been great. I recently had an issue that Client Success Partner [sensitive content hidden] helped me out with and exceeded my expectations! She helped me resolve a transition issue from my old POS and allowed us to close the book on it completely. Very much appreciated!
Pros: The user interface is ahead of the game when it comes to other POS's. Also, the tech and application support is top notch. It took a bit of getting used to, but once we did, it was a huge improvement over our old system. That and the online ordering capabilities as well as the Doordash Direct functionality make it a win win for us.
Cons: It took a bit of getting used to once we implemented. I'm not sure if it's the fact that we were with our old system for many years prior and we were used to it, but relearning was the hardest part.
Bill C. · Owner · Restaurants · May 16, 2025
I have not had any issues with SpotOn. My payment are processed on time and my monthly statements are always correct.
Pros: Their accuracy and consistency with payments being processed in a timely manner.
Cons: the amount of the processing fees. This is of course with all companies, but it was all I can think of as a con.
Sonia H. · Office Manager · Medical Practice · May 15, 2025
Definitely better than my last system, but not everything it was sold to be. Things I was assured were great end up with caveat.
Pros: 24/7 Customer Service Good working reports Fast "fixes" for most things KDS is interactive and so easy to read compared to others
Cons: POS main screen slow and not touch sensitive as it should be Menu build not handled as well as I would have liked and as I was assured it would be End of Day functionality is troublesome every day
Cindy C. · Chef Owner · Restaurants · May 13, 2025
Honestly there has been several highs and lows. I think they are working hard to improve the product and I believe they will have a bright future. I don't know if there needs to be more internal training before products are launched to the customer, but I feel like I get many different answers to a question and many are not accurate.
Pros: The express POS is very simple to program and is easy to train new employees how to use it. [sensitive content hidden] has been very helpful getting my questions to the correct people to get the answers I need. Once they went to the correct people, they were handled promptly and efficiently.
Cons: The staff are very helpful but there needs to be a better internal system to let staff know who is helping which customers and the particular issue that is being resolved. I have had multiple calling, and emailing to solve and issue that has already been resolved.
Julie H. · Owner · Food & Beverages · May 8, 2025
Awesome experience. Fast response time and knowledge of product
Pros: Awesome sales person Mr. [sensitive content hidden]. Excellent response time and customer service.
Cons: Nothing bad to report. Product is great. Would recommend to anyone
Louis P. · Facilitator · Restaurants · April 27, 2025
Over all [sensitive content hidden] has managed to keep us with SpotOn, if he was not with the company we would not be. We stay because he is there to continue to support.
Pros: [sensitive content hidden] is great, the other support people are not good. He is able to assist with most issues when they come up.
Cons: Support team other than [sensitive content hidden] are not helpful and rarely know what is going on nor are they able to help in most situations.
