Its interface is accessible to non-tech-savvy users and teams that need project management without unnecessary complexity. Some users say bugs and too many notifications can harm the user experience.

Pros: Basecamp keeps projects clear, it simplifies teamwork, and centralizes communication efficiently well.
Cons: It has limited customization, lacks advanced features, and can feel too simple for complex projects.

Basecamp is one of the firsts in the game and I think they are keeping it solid. And the message board functionality is really one of my favourites.
Pros: I still think Basecamp isn't a copy of another product and that's one thing that hasn't changed, inna good way.
Cons: Most advanced project management solutions come with a built in time tracker nowadays. So when we were comparing products, we had to think about that, but eventually we proceeded with Basecamp. I still think it would be a good addition if we'd need that feature in the future.

For the time I worked with it I found that we were able to successfully accomplish our projects but as our team and scope expanded, we ultimately out grew the abilities of Basecamp.

Pros: I like that it was fairly easy to set up different projects! It was nice to see all to dos in one space and keep an eye on all the projects you're working on.
Cons: It wasn't the best for complex projects. A lot of our projects can span multiple years and cross different teams and I found Basecamp lacked the infrastructure to allow us to easily work on these more complex projects.

I am big fan of Basecamp, I use it pretty much everyday and I enjoy the recap at the end of the day. It also lets us keep track of contractors and their work real easily
Pros: I love that we can work on projects as a team and that it keeps track of the progress. I also enjoy that it doesn't email you a million times just once in the morning. Big of that
Cons: Im not sure that is a lot that I don't like about it. Maybe that when we use consultants they use their camp and not ours and then Im in the wrong basecamp sometimes

Basecamp has introduced a serene organization to our project organization process at Kilarys. The calendar enables the financial deadlines to be visible and the flat pricing reduced the internal budget dialogue to a very short one.
Pros: All my team will need to work with is in one location and no one will need a tutorial to locate it. Such simplicity is actually worth something when individuals are working on things and not on learning software.
Cons: Experienced two annoying bugs when sharing files with the team, where the attachments could not load. A glitch like that is difficult to ignore in a billing environment where accuracy of documents is a concern.

I use Basecamp very often. I have had a great overall experience. I it easy to search and find projects, message back and forth for feedback, and provides a great space for our team.
Pros: Basecamp is user-friendly, keeps our team organized, and is very efficient. I have never experienced bugs and issues. File sharing is easy to do within the message boards and groups.
Cons: I cannot think of anything to note that I do not like about Basecamp. I use it everyday in the workplace.
Rylie P. · Communications Coordinator · Education Management · April 20, 2026
I am so grateful for basecamp. It easily stores my files and helps with feedback between postings. I use it everyday. I love the search feature as well.
Pros: I love the organization of Basecamp. It is so easy to use, easy to learn and so very organized. I do not know how I would do my job as effectively without it. It allows for great teamwork and collaboration.
Cons: I do not have a negative thing to say about this program. It is so well run. If anything maybe more introduction videos to those who have never used it.
Raegan P. · Graphic Designer · Design · April 10, 2026
Overall, I would say my experience has been very positive. I do believe there is more that Basecamp can do and I look forward to learning those features.
Pros: Basecamp makes it easy to communicate with other employees within teams and groups all in one place, with a record of those communications in a place that is not "lost" in texts and emails when an employee leaves.
Cons: Sometimes it can be a little confusing to know who is getting what and how to create complex groups.

Basecamp has been a solid partner for our tracking for tasks and for knowing how our team works their task and keeps us updated
Pros: We recently upgrade to the latest version of basecamp and we are absolutely in love, it has taken the way on how we keep track of our daily task to a different level and the update helps to include links and make it easy to organize
Cons: I haven't find anything that we don't like about this version, it has everything that we need and more

I wasn't impressed with basecamp overall. As mentioned I had a tough time finding where things were and staying organized in the app.
Pros: I didn't find basecamp to be very user friendly, the interface is a bit scattered and confusing, and I didn't like the way it was organized.
Cons: The interface, the difficulty of finding where things were, and the constant confusion when trying to navigate within the app.
Caitie W. · General Manager · Health, Wellness and Fitness · March 27, 2026
Overall i am not satisfied with this program but ibhave seen worse. It is an ok program if you are a small business i guess
Pros: It does make some things easier. Somewhat streamlining some processes we do still use it at some capacity.
Cons: It is not that great of a program in my opinion. It still lags a lot and makes it difficult to do what we are trying to do at times
CHANNING P. · Supervisor · Government Administration · March 26, 2026
My overall experience has been OK. I wouldn’t say as my favorite software, but it’s not my least favorite either.
Pros: What I like most about it now is that it’s still more user-friendly and it’s easy for me to adapt to.
Cons: I don’t like that. I have to go through a bunch of different stuff just to get one thing done. I have to jump through like 20 hoops.
Andrea C. · Office administrator · Construction · March 19, 2026
Our school uses it for all creative projects to match teams with our graphic designer. We can all comment, request changes, and modifications. Then, our head of school can approve all within the same location.
Pros: I love how different team members can all collaborate and work on the same project while giving real time feedback.
Cons: Sometimes, I wish administration would only see the finished project and didn't comment on each step along the way.

Basecamp continues to be a reliable and trustworthy tool to promote team collaboration in hybrid work environments. Tracking work and deliverables is made incredibly simple and Basecamp is a valuable tool for any mid to large sized organization.
Pros: Basecamp makes team collaboration on work projects very simple and makes it easy to track progress on deliverables. With our team being hybrid and some employees working remotely Basecamp allows us all to work on projects while being in different geographic locations without any interruption. The ability to store larger media files is also a big plus as often in marketing work we have files that are too large to transmit through email or other services.
Cons: My criticism remains that the mobile app for Basecamp is still a little wonky at times and could use some user-experience and interface upgrades to make it a little easier to use when you're on the go and don't have access to a computer. The web version works perfectly fine, but I find the mobile version still has some faults.

Its easy to use, helpful, and very user friendly. Most of our interior designers like to use it to keep each project organized and separated.
Pros: Great program to help keep all documents updated and easy to access. Great to keep clients, vendors and designers all organized.
Cons: Gives access to clients and can sometimes get overwhelming to responding to their messages. Clients can treat it like a chat room sometimes.
Matt G. · Project Manager · Construction · March 3, 2026
In short, the experience has been nothing but positive! The platform implementation was seamless and user friendly! We are all feeling an increase in transparency across the board!
Pros: I have thoroughly enjoyed how streamlined communications with clients have become. I am able to seamlessly communicate with remote clients and share files with ease!
Cons: Thus far, no cons! Ultimately, communication is UP and errors are DOWN! The implementation of the platform has helped clarify where the team is on a project!
Mai M. · Managing Director · Hospitality · February 28, 2026
It was decent. Tough to send wide spread messages, but to send large files around for departmental approval, it worked well.
Pros: It was a good tool when I was at a previous company where we collabed as a marketing department and shared large files we couldn't send over email.
Cons: Was tougher to use than teams, slack, google, etc. Not the best for anything other than sharing large files amongst the team.
Matt S. · Activation Manager · Entertainment · January 28, 2026
The first thing I used was Trello, but it broke pretty soon at more than a couple of employees and I had to buy Basecamp. This system provides the client with an opportunity to see their own, proof and marketing schedule, taking out a lot of phone calls. Less usage of Slack as well, since comments are related directly to each task.
Pros: My coffee has gone cold and this desk is to small for 2 monitors but Basecamp manages the sprint without blowing up. I was pleasantly surprised the AI formatted my notes correctly, unlike other programs that create chaos with them. We do all our frontend and QA ticketing thru Basecamp, it is nice that they do not vanish into thin air. They also provide us with an additional view of the board and calendar, which is whatever.
Cons: The most frustrating thing about Basecamp is sometimes it seems like they put to much emphasis on features and I lose track of where things are located, especially finding the CRM section. The largest pain point is I am unable to enable my camera when I am creating a video clip for the team, which makes zero sense.

Our experience with Basecamp has been great. It’s easy to use, and helps us keep everybody organized and communicating clearly. We have fewer emails to everyone so we all stay on track more often. Efficiency is better because of using Basecamp.
Pros: The best part about about Basecamp is that everything is easy to find, easy to use, and easy to explain to the rest of the team. It is nice to have communication, tasks, files, etc all in one place. It makes is much easier to keep things on track and progressing.
Cons: Basecamp is great because it is pretty simple. But in some situations that might not be enough for some customized workflows or reports.

Basecamp is a fantastic project management hub for me as a freelancer. It keeps work moving and helps me stay on top of my work/schedule.
Pros: It keeps my freelance work organized and clutter-free. Everything lives in one place and the design is super intuitive.
Cons: There really isn’t much to dislike as a solo freelancer. Advanced task features like dependencies would be nice to have.

Overall, i think that Basecamp is very useful especially for remote teams. I initially did not see the need for it as i was used to my way of work, which was a bit difficult but started seeing the benefit as my project work progresses.
Pros: I have been using Basecamp for quite a while. It is one of those apps that has facilitated my project work collaboration in my early career days. I found it very useful for sharing files, communicating, and knowing updates.
Cons: The basecamp visualizations is a bit clumsy and i found it a bit difficult to catch up with the navigation on the early use. Update notifications are fine but appeared to be a bit disturbing at time. Could have been helpful with some selection flexibility.
Adewale S. · HIO · Health, Wellness and Fitness · January 12, 2026
Pros: It's a great tool to collaborate with colleagues. There aren't a ton of options for customizing the templates, which keeps things simpler.
Cons: You have to make sure that everyone has access to your boards. Sometimes, it's easy to forget who should be included.
Claire F. · Lead of Supply Chain · Consumer Goods · January 11, 2026
We have been using basecamp for years and have no reason to leave. The project management is unmatched.
Pros: Basecamp is such a wonderful tool because of how the entire team can stay organized. We are a team of 20 and have so many projects to manage and this application makes it easy for us to manage.
Cons: The only downfall is the interface. Its a bit lackluster and could use a upgrade so it doesn’t feel dated compared to its competitors.
Dutana D. · Marketing Specialist · Non-Profit Organization Management · December 26, 2025
Pros: I liked how Basecamp kept all project communication, files, and tasks in one place — it helped reduce scattered emails and messages and I loved the simple, intuitive interface that everyone on the team could use without much training.
Cons: I felt that Basecamp’s task management features were a bit too simple for complex project workflows compared to tools like Asana or Jira.
