Microsoft Power Automate helps businesses automate workflows across Microsoft apps and third-party tools. It’s most used by IT and operations teams in small and enterprise firms. Reviewers value its low-code setup and built-in templates, though many cite a steep learning curve and limited third-party integrations. Recent updates such as Copilot expression editing and self-healing UI flows improve speed and reliability.

Pros: It’s rather easy to set up automated workflows, especially I use it for sending emails based on triggers. It saves time and ensures reports are sent consistently without manual effort.
Cons: Sometimes the interface feels a bit unintuitive, and debugging flows can be frustrating when something doesn’t work as expected.

I find it can be frustrating to troubleshoot when something goes wrong, as error messages aren’t always clear. Some connectors can be unreliable, and more complex automations have a learning curve
Pros: I like Power Automate for its ability to easily automate repetitive tasks and streamline workflows. The integration with Formstack is especially helpful for automating actions based on form submissions, saving time and reducing manual work. It also supports better task management by automatically creating and tracking tasks, helping keep work organized and on schedule.
Cons: Some users find Power Automate can be difficult to troubleshoot when flows fail, as error messages aren’t always clear. Others mention limitations with complex logic, connector reliability, or performance issues with larger workflows. Licensing and premium connectors are also a common concern, as costs can add up. While powerful, it often has a learning curve for more advanced automations and task management scenarios.

it's overall a strong choice for orgs that want to build workflow automations without reliance on code and/or already live inside of 365. It's more effectively for standard business process automation, but starts to fall apart a bit as workflows start to branch out or touch on solutions outside of 365. For simple processes it's very useful and efficient, but may need dedicated tools or knowledge for larger scale automations.
Pros: Very good at connecting repetitive business tasks across 365 and other business services. It can work quite well for approvals and notifications, and simple uncomplicated process automation. For orgs already embedded within the microsoft ecosystem, the native integration and compatibility provides great synergy between automations; flowing naturally through apps like Outlook, Teams, Sharepoint, Forms/Excel etc.
Cons: The complexity scales upwards quite quickly when you try to build more advanced workflows. As they become more advanced more effort is dedicated to building and troubleshooting, and some scenarios can be limited by things like Connectors or licenses. As this becomes the case it starts to feel like the tradeoff for not needing technical or scripting experience becomes significantly more diminished.

I have been using Power automate since last 4 years and have seen it handle the most complex automations without glitches. I have not used a more friendly automation tool that that.
Pros: Microsoft Power Automate is one of it's kind tool. I like how I can automate almost every business process through it and it does that efficiently and consistently.
Cons: The only this I do not like about Microsoft Power Automate is the Power Automate desktop version of it. The desktop version is not quite dependable, as it deals with UI automation.

For me, it's a "set and forget" type of tool. Once I have what I need set up and I know that it is working, I don't need to check back on things or make any changes unless I have to.
Pros: Power Automate is a fantastic tool that we leverage heavily for task automation. There are several processes that are easily automated to improve our workflow, task management and day to day operations.
Cons: If you aren't already familiar with Power Automate, it can initially be a bit overwhelming and it does have a bit of a learning curve. However, once you can get through that, it is a very powerful tool that can help you as well as your business with your daily tasks.

The most complex of my processes, is pulling data from PostgreSQL using a PowerQuery in Excel. The data is refreshed, saved to a CSV and then uploaded via Filezilla to an FTP. It is a daily process triggered by Task Scheduler.
Pros: Power Automate brings the "power" to RPA! I have several daily processes that run reports, pull data and publish to FTP sites. At the heart of this process is Power Automate. I have used various other tools, and Power Automate stands above all of the rest when it comes to flexibility and the ability to customize processes.
Cons: In the beginning, Power Automate can be daunting because it is so powerful. Once I figured out how PA worked, I have been able to quickly generate, modify and deploy several complex processes. It does take time to learn, but once you have it, you are off and running.

I used Power Automate to deploy workflow automations in SharePoint and as well as to facilitate integrations. The built-in connectors made it extremely easy to deploy working flows, but scaling out took more effort to optimize. In addition, once the workflows got more complicated, it became more difficult to debug and deal with complex flows.
Pros: The best part of Power Automate is the low code integration and visualization, making it easy for people who do not have much development experience and allow for fast time to value. This makes it easy to connect to different Microsoft products using connectors. In addition, it allows for the automation of business processes via schedules or event triggers.
Cons: The performance of Power Automate can be irregular, with execution time of the same flow varying wildly. It works well for smaller data sets and tasks, but can become cumbersome when dealing with larger data sets. Finally, it's difficult to debug if something has gone wrong.

Pros: I use power automate to practice and improve my knowledge, I like to use it and integrate with BI and Sharepoint
Cons: Learning curve may be complicated, That was my opinion in last review, and I'm still thinking the same

Overall, Power Automate’s been a pretty smooth experience so far. The little workflow we set up for sending jobs to our system has been super handy, even though I haven’t poked around too much into everything else it can do just yet. I get the feeling there’s a lot more I could use it for, but I just haven’t had the time to play around with it. For now, it does what I need, doesn’t get in the way, and makes a few everyday tasks way easier.
Pros: One of the biggest perks of using Microsoft Power Automate for us has been how easy it is to trigger jobs straight from Teams. We set up a simple button so we can right-click and send a job directly to our job-system email, and honestly, it’s been a game changer. Instead of jumping between apps or copying info manually, it’s all just one quick action. It feels small, but when you’re doing it multiple times a day, the time saved really adds up.
Cons: I haven't really found any issues with this so far, it's been fairly seamless using it. My only gripe would be when the flow doesn't work randomly, which to be fair is barely any of the time, the error messages can be a bit vague. Honestly, when it doesn't work, normally sending the flow again just works!

Pros: What I liked most about Microsoft Power Automate is its powerful capabilities and wide range of integrations. It connects easily with many different tools and platforms, making it possible to automate complex workflows and achieve great results once everything is set up correctly.
Cons: It could benefit from even more AI functionality. While it’s already smart, enhanced AI features could make the setup process easier and help users build more advanced automations with less manual effort.

I had a great experience. I did not feel it was "over my head in competency," and I was able to finish my process. It has helped my small team run so smoothly.
Pros: I appreciate that it enables me to automate many of my processes. It wasn't too tricky, and I was able to do it myself without requiring significant IT assistance.
Cons: Not really anything. It did get a little tricky, but was I able to get through the process? I am in HR, so this is not my area of expertise.

Overall, Power automate is a very sophisticated solution which can scale and automate tasks easily, coupled with its integration with Microsoft suite, it can save hours across each analyst every day.
Pros: Power Automate said what is markets, automate a lot of manual tasks via could without needing to know a lot about coding. Being a non-code, dragon drop platform, it's quite simple to use and, along with co-pilot and templates, it works very well for automating simple yet time-consuming tasks. And the best part is integration with Microsoft 365, linking with Microsoft PBI, Excel, and SharePoint to automate tasks beyond just data entry, and you can manage the process flows very easily, set their time and execution date. In terms of security, it regularly asks the user to authenticate the MS credentials and stops if there are any problems with access or security.
Cons: Although it's a no-code or low-code platform, it does require some level of understanding if you're trying to link and automate tasks from various sources. Having a technical acumen of the code is something that may be required, but maybe with ChatGPT/Google support its easy to decode.

Overall I find Microsoft Power Automate to be a good RPA tool with a lot of future potential. Currently its features are a bit undeveloped compared to UiPath, but I can see they are improving. I find them to be easier to use and potentially save time when it comes to automatons that require less than three web applications than UiPath. Their customer service is what really gives me confidence that overtime this tool will out perform competition as they develop it further.
Pros: $84
Cons: Microsoft Power Automate currently has a few issues when developing RPA projects of high complexity. Some projects that require multiple web applications (More than 2) tend to run slower on power automate than in UiPath. This causes some issues in reaching SLA and planning how many virtual machines are required for a given process to complete enough cases within the given time. The time trigger in cloud automation is also an aspect that is a bit underdeveloped. Its not easy to set a time for production code based on business requirements while being able to change in in a config during testing. This leads to code changes having to be made. Microsoft support has already confirmed that they would look into this issue. Since Power Automate works on cloud and desktop flows, it often requires Vnet to be set-up for API usage which is extra infrastructure set-up and cost compared to desktop only RPA tools.

Overall, it offers good value in terms of automating workflows with strong functionality and scalability. A must for new age technology world.
Pros: - Robust capabilities around process automation - Enable users to automate repetitive and manual tasks and optimise workflows - Helps companies save time and cost by reducing manual intervention in tasks - Rich integration strength across MS suit of products - This supports the wave of non-coding. As it offers non-coding feature for automation - Offers vast library of connectors like salesforce, slack, Google services etc
Cons: - Like all automation tools, the UI and UX seems to be confusing for new users - Sometimes felt latency while triggering workflows for complex tasks - Limited debugging as error codes lacks depth

Power Automate allows users to get up and running quickly if they have other Microsoft Licenses already in house. THe workflow actions aren't always intuitive or straight forward, and it does take some getting used to. Power Automate as a whole lacks basic features other similar products provide. For instance, there's no "check if file exists in SharePoint" function. Instead, you have to put together roughly 3-5 workflow actions in Power Automate to see if a file exists on SharePoint whereas other products it's as simple as 1 step.
Pros: What's great about Power Automate is most businesses have it already with their licenses if they already have other Microsoft Cloud offerings. Therefore it can allow you and your business to get some real basic automation up and running quickly.
Cons: It's not fully mature yet and is missing a lot of key features other similar products/systems, such as Nintex, provide. For instance, if you have a few workflow actions you'd like to skip over (or not run) like sending an email every run, there's no way in Power Automate to disable that workflow action. You have to move it to the end of the workflow (however big it may be), and put a "terminate" action before it. With other products, you can "disable" that particular action and the workflow will skip right over it. Or if you change a variable name, in Power Automate you have to find it in every action and replace the old variable name with the new one.

Overall, Power Automate is a powerful tool for streamlining business processes, though it requires careful design for reliability.
Pros: Power Automate simplifies repetitive tasks with low-code automation, integrates well with Microsoft 365, and boosts productivity.
Cons: Debugging complex flows can be frustrating, with limited error detail and inconsistent behavior in large workflows.
rizi m. · Technical Consultant · Computer Software · June 9, 2025
Pros: Fantastic way to automate processes that are tedious. They have made it very easy to learn and pick it up as you use it.
Cons: Cannot really fault it much. Perhaps debugging and error handling can be a improved on, however it is fairly intuitive.
Manavkumar U. · Actuarial Analyst · Financial Services · June 4, 2025
Pros: You can create flows for everyday work items. It helps automate items in your everyday work, whether that be notifying someone a document has been submitted or ready for another person to edit or for approval on something.
Cons: It can take a while to learn how to use Microsoft Power Automate. There are a lot of connectors and actions which can be hard to work out which one to use in certain scenarios.
Brenton T. · Senior Consultant · Information Technology and Services · June 3, 2025
Power Automate is a very easy tool to pick up and use with a plethora of triggers, actions and connections ready to use out of the box.
Pros: I liked the ease of integration of Power Automate across the Microsoft, Azure and Office 365 ecosystem.
Cons: The limitation of only a month's worth of flow run history isn't ideal, however a SharePoint list can be used to persist and log data to work around this.
Norman B. · Senior Consultant · Computer Software · June 3, 2025
Absolutely amazed by the product, its functionality and connectors available, ever since the early stages (Flow).
Pros: Fantastic functionality, allowing to automate a great deal of tasks. Rich set of connectors, constantly being updated.
Cons: Some areas, such as Odata filters, are not easy to master and require substantial research + trial and error.

Overall it has been reliable the stuff we setup we have not had any maintenance issues with most notably automate emails with a power app integration
Pros: Power automate interface makes the learning curve not as steep as you would think. Most of our team was able to pick it up quickly.
Cons: We were trying to automate an excel refresh and we’re struggling to get it to work. You would think this is a common task
Eric M. · Advisor and Chief Compliance Officer · Financial Services · May 10, 2025
My experience so far with Power Automate has been great, up there with all other workflow applications.
Pros: I love how easily it integrates with SharePoint, it has all the functionality of most other workflow engines.
Cons: The limited functionality in 'free' version.
Anonymous User · Senior Consultant Technical Specialist · Information Technology and Services · May 9, 2025
We were discovering that we needed a lot of automated approval processes. Since we already had Microsoft licenses, we decided to try the Power Platform/Power Apps/Power Automate route. It has worked well, and love that non programmers are catered for.
Pros: POwer Automate is great for organizations who have employees that aren't true programmers, but need to accomplish basic tasks such as capturing online data, imp[lemeting processes that require approvals along the way, or other similar features.
Cons: Quite a bit of what we needed to do was considered "advanced" and needed additional licensing to be able to accomplish the tasks. While there is a suite of connectors that come free, some common ones aren't, and this is where the sting hurts.
John D. · Developer · Government Administration · May 8, 2025
Very great for cloud workflow set up with streamlined processes that makes approval and implementation easy.
Pros: Low code, office suite, templates, catalog, flows editor are some of the pro features that makes me love this app
Cons: Sometimes the connectors and workflow duplication can be tedious to handle. And it is sometimes difficult to learn how this app works.

Overall, it's my go-to resource for automating everything business process related
Pros: ease of use and flexibility to automate with internal Microsoft connected applications and 3rd application
Cons: On larger flows (Automations) at times you'll notice performance of all the steps begins to take longer to come to completion
